AMIDON Blance M - SAWYER Blanche M.
Blanche M. Sawyer, 77, of Purple Street died
Sunday (August
22, 2010) at the home of her daughter in Wellsboro. Born in Hartsville,
March 12, 1933, the daughter of Walter D. and Mildred Rowe Amidon, she
had resided her early life in Hartsville and graduated from Canisteo Central
School, Class of 1951. She later moved to Austinburg, PA, later living
in Woodhu11 from 1964 until 1995. Blanche was active in the Grange for
several years. She was predeceased by her parents; her son, Walter Sawyer
in 1956; her husband, Donald K. Sawyer in 1995; as well as 2 sisters, Beverly
Amidon and Norma Robinson, and her brothers, Ward and Stanley Amidon. She
is survived by five daughters, Penny (Larry) Kahle of Eldred, Pa. Donna
(John) Stevens of Middlebury Center, PA., Bonny (Dave) Wright of Wellsboro,
Carol (Russ) Redell Jr. of Wellsboro and JoAnn (Joe) Osgood of Wellsboro;
two sons, Donald (Dawn) Sawyer of Chesnee, South Carolina and David (Janine)
Sawyer of Wellsboro; 17 grandchildren, Chris Claycomb, Michelle Sawyer,
Michael Sawyer, Megan Sawyer, Morgan Sawyer, Eric Warriner, Corey Stevens,
KayLee Stevens, Sean Wright, Sara Jo Wright, Layton Wright, Zachery Redell,
Bianca Redell, Kody Sawyer, Kait Sawyer, Ryan Osgood and Shelby Osgood;
great-grandchildren, Ethan Claybomb, Logan Claycomb, and Dylan Holsonback;

BARLOW Jude Alexander
Corning, N.Y. — Jude Alexander Barlow, who was 9 months old,
returned to his heavenly home on Friday morning at Strong Memorial Hospital
in Rochester after an extended stay in the pediatric intensive care unit.
Jude is the son of Shaylan Terry and Tirzah Ann Barlow. During his
brief sojourn on earth, Jude had tremendous impact on the many who cared
for him and loved him. His calm, patient spirit and bright, knowing
eyes spoke of wisdom, experience, and understanding far beyond his infant
years. In addition to his parents, Shaylan Terry and Tirzah Ann Barlow,
survivors of his eternal family include his brother, Elijah Carlsen Barlow
and his sister, Adelaide Eden Barlow; paternal grandparents, Stanley Terry
(Ka Jeen) Barlow and maternal grandparents, Joseph Wayne (Mildred) Serpiello;
two uncles, Adam George (Tess Elizabeth) Barlow and Daniel Vincent (Andrina
Rosa) Serpiello and four aunts, Andra Marie (Robert Chapman) Ingebretsen,
Marissa Ka (Russell James) Corallo, Andrea Claire (Jason Matthew) Balogh,
and Laura Beth Serpiello; great-paternal grandmother, Velma Terry Barlow;

BARROWCLIFF Belinda M. Fulmer
49, of Sayre, PA, died
on Friday, August 20, at home following
a brief illness. She was born on March 8, 1961, in Sayre, the daughter
of Merton and Carol A. Ferguson Barrowcliff. Belinda enjoyed cross stitch,
collecting bears, her pets, and bingo. She loved spending time with her
family and friends. She is predeceased by her mother Carol A. Weaver in
2009, grandmother Frances Ferguson, and brother Vincent Barrowcliff. Belinda
is survived by her son Dan (Danielle Cianfoni) Wright of Sayre; grandchildren
Olivia, Asher, and Aurora Wright of Sayre; three sisters Terry Forbes of
North Carolina, Kim (Bill) Dumas of North Carolina, and Melissa Johnson
of Athens, Pa., and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

BLIELER Joan A
DES MOINES, IA — Joan A. Brinker, age 69, of Des Moines, IA and formerly
of Bath, NY died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Iowa Methodist Medical
Center. She was born October 5, 1940 in Doylestown, PA the daughter
of James and Eleanor Blieler. She owned and operated Joan Stewart
Appraisals in Bath, NY for many years. She is survived by her three sons,
Andrew (Kelly) Brinker of Altoona, IA, Daniel (Renee) Stewart of Syracuse,
NY and David Stewart of Kanona, NY, her daughter Jennifer Kent of Hammondsport,
NY, 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, Eileen Brinker
of Doylestown, PA and Virginia Blieler of Doylestown, PA and her brother
James Blieler of SC and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased
by her son Tim Brinker in 2008 and sister, Gloria Blieler. A graveside
service will be held on Wednesday September 1, 2010 at 11:00 am at the

Age 76, of Starkey Point, Dundee, NY, died
peacefully on Monday,
August 23, 2010. The family will receive friends and relatives at Royce-Chedzoy
Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Wednesday, from 7-9pm and
Thursday from 1-3pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 3:00pm

Cemetery. Caroline worked as the Chief Clerk of Family Court in Schuyler
County, retiring in 1993. Caroline loved to garden, cook, travel and most
of all spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her
husband of 37 years, Gary D. Mead; children, Michael (Jennifer) Matthews
of Spafford, Diana (Carl) Davidson of Venice, FL, Jeff (Vicki) Matthews
of Penn Yan, Karen (Denis) Lacey of Penn Yan, Susan (Joel) Bencomo of Dundee,

BUCK Leonard E. Buck
60, a resident of Stryker Ave., Montgomery, died
on Tuesday,
August 24, 2010, in the Gatehouse following a six-month battle with pancreatic
cancer. Born in Muncy Creek Twp., Lycoming County, Pa., on Saturday, January
7, 1950, he was the son of the late Ross N. and Dorothy M. (Foust) Buck.
Len was the husband of Alverda M. (Deeter) Buck with whom he celebrated
a 40th wedding anniversary on January 31, 2010. He honorably served during
the Vietnam War with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Mattaponi. Len had last
been employed by Keystone Filler and Manufacturing Co. at Muncy. He had
previously been employed by the former Carey-McFall Corp. and Rochelle
Furniture at Montgomery. Len was a member of the New Covenant Assembly
of God Church at Montgomery. He was a life member of Edward J. Smith V.F.W.
Post 3428 at Muncy. Lenny enjoyed working on automobiles and spending time
with his family. He especially enjoyed helping others. In addition
to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and her fiancé, Tammy
J. Buck and Rocky Brown, Watsontown; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis
E. and Angela Buck, Watsontown; four grandchildren, Andrew Buck, Alicia
Wilver, Kyle Buck, Keith Brown; one sister and brother-in-law, Dietra and
Paul Rider, Montgomery; three brothers, Gary Buck, Melvin Buck and Jackie
Buck, all of Montgomery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by one sister, Barbara Jean Buck, and two brothers, Gregory Buck
and Ross Buck Jr. Funeral services will be conducted from the New
Covenant Assembly of God Church, 1270 Pinchtown Road, Montgomery at 10
a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2010, with Rev. James R. Pentz, his pastor,
officiating. Interment will be in the Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends

BURNELL Nelson "Whitey"
A longtime resident of the Southport community died
Wednesday
morning, August 25, 2010 while a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital at the
age of 72. Born on December 31, 1937 in Lockhaven, Pennsylvania, "Whitey"
was the son of the late Edward & May Slyderbeck Burnell. He was employed
by Chemung County Solid Waste as a truck driver for 25 years. Surviving
is his dedicated and devoted wife, Gladys Burnell, Southport; daughter,
Laura (Jack) Liquori, Elmira; and grandchildren. In addition to his parents,
he was predeceased by a son, Eugene Burnell, and his first wife, Martha
Burnell. In honoring his wishes, there will be no public services. - Elmira

BURNS Mary Arlene
Wellsville — Mary Arlene Lewis, 84, of 4200 Fassett Lane died
at home on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 28, 1925 in Wellsville the daughter of William H.
and Mary Agnes (McNicholas) Burns. On December 5, 1944 in Wellsville she
married Leonard A. Lewis who survives. Mary was a graduate of Immaculate
Conception School and Wellsville High School. She was a member of Immaculate
Conception Church, the Altar & Rosary Society and was a former member
of the Jones Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Mary was a loving wife and mother
who loved her home, tending to her flowers, and watching and feeding backyard
birds and wildlife. Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter,
Connie Ann (Kenneth) Kirk of Corning, five grandchildren: Benjamin L. Kirk,
Johnathan P. Kirk, Andrew S. Lewis, Christopher T. Lewis and Sarah E. Lewis;
a great grandson, Hunter J. Lewis; a daughter-in-law, Connie A. Lewis of
Scio as well as several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a
son, Thomas James Lewis in 1991. Friends are invited to call on Friday
from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral
Home Inc. in Wellsville, where the Rosary will be recited on Friday at
3:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August
28th at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville with
Monsignor Vincent Becker as celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart

CARLUCCI Candace Carlucci Backus
66, died in her home in Easton, Md. on August 20, 2010. She touched
numerous lives within the Skidmore College community and on the Eastern
Shore of Maryland through her service and contributions with many civic
organizations. She had ovarian cancer. Most notably, Candy served
on the Board and was past President of Easton Daycare Center, on the Board
and past President of Hospice of Talbot County and a trustee of Academy
of the Arts. She became program administrator of the Grayce B. Kerr Fund
in 1994 and also served as a trustee of the Fund from 1996 to 2000. She
served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime
Museum from 1999 to 2005 and again from 2008 and 2009. While on the Board
of the Museum, Candy was Chair of the Development Committee in 2002, the
Education Chair from 2003 through 2005 and more recently a member of the
Finance and Governance Committees. In 1998 she co-founded the Museum's
"Boating Party," the most important annual fundraiser event for the Museum,
and continued to be actively involved in the event for 12 years serving
as Chair in 2001 and Co-chair in 2002, 2007 and 2008. She, also,
was a member of the Harbor Club and an active member of the Garden Club
of the Eastern Shore. Candy was a 1966 graduate of Skidmore College
with a physical education major. As a student she was president of the
athletic association and a member of the executive board of the College
Governing Association. Upon graduation she taught in Niskayuna School District,
Niskayuna, N.Y., for eight years, 1966-1973. She began an 11 year
career at Skidmore in 1974; serving as assistant director of admissions
in 1974-76 and then as executive director of the Alumni Association and
Director of Alumni Affairs for nine years (1976-1985), retiring in 1985.
The Candace Carlucci Award was established at Skidmore in 1985. The award
is presented annually to a member of the College's graduating class who
best demonstrates the qualities that Candy brought to her Skidmore endeavors
- leadership, dedication, commitment to goals, energy and enthusiasm, and
interest in Skidmore's alumni affairs and development program. She was
the recipient of Skidmore's Outstanding Service Award in 1996, and continued
to contribute to her alma mater as a volunteer. She served on the alumni
nominating committee 1999-2002, the leadership gifts task force 1989, the
Friends of the President committee 1988-89, awards committee 1985, class
president 1987-91, club president 1986-90, and Reunion Fund chair 1986,
among other roles. Candy married Cecil F. Backus Jr. in 1986, making their
home in York Harbor, Maine. While residing in York Harbor, Candy was Chair
of "Auction in the Meadows" to benefit Old York Historical Society. They
resided in York Harbor until 1990, moving to "The Rest" along the Miles
River, Easton, Md. With Cecil's unwavering support, she became active in
numerous civic organizations in Easton. In 2002 Candy and Cecil launched
a new enterprise, "Silent Sous," baker of custom cakes, which continued
through the end of 2009. She was predeceased by her parents, Carl P. and
Jane C. Carlucci of Muncy, Pa. She is survived by her husband, Cecil; a
brother, C. Peter Carlucci Jr. and his wife, Trish, of Carlisle, Pa.; a
sister, Cynthia C. Hengstenberg and her husband, Ted, of Waitsfield, Vt.;
and six nieces and nephews, Amy C. Wu, of Farmington, Conn., Kate Aquilino
of Huntington, N.Y., C. Peter Carlucci III, of Columbia, S.C., Anthony
F. Cirelli Jr. of Huntington, N.Y., Sharon L. Carlucci, of Weed, Calif.,
and Jane A. Cirelli, of Oyster Bay, N.Y.; and a grandniece and two grandnephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, September 10, 2010, beginning
at 11:30 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, St. Michaels, Md. A reception
will follow on the campus of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Interment

CHENEY Frances Doris Legge
age 68, of Inverness, Fla. died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 under the care
of Hospice of Citrus County and her loving family. She was born Feb.
16, 1942, a daughter of the late Raymond and Doris (Weigand) Cheney. She
resided in Lounsberry, N.Y. until moving to Florida in 2003. Fran
was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her survivors include daughters,
Theresa (Robert) Podmenik, Waverly, N.Y. and Holly Fields Scott, Allentown.
Pa.; step-son Richard (Nancy) Legge Jr., Candor N.Y.;and step-daughter
Darlinda (Robert) Hollenbeck, Owego N.Y.; three sisters, Elizabeth “Betty”
Anderson, Inverness, Fla., Ruth Buckley, Endicott, N.Y. and Mary (Robert)
Taylor of Colorado; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two
nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Legge Sr. and

CLARK - Mr. Donald Lee Clark, 38, of 39 Gail Lane, Lot # 60, Hughesville, Pa., died on Sunday, August 22, 2010, at his home. Mr. Clark was employed by the David R. Webb Company, Inc. at Williamsport, where he had been employed as a laborer. He was also employed at Wendy's of Montoursville. Mr. Clark enjoyed being a fan of NASCAR, Dallas Cowboys football team and hunting. Born June 27, 1972, at Akron, Ohio, he was the son of Warren W. Sr. and Barbara Jean Williams Clark. Surviving are his fiance', Christine Yoh of Hughesville, his father, Warren W. Clark Sr., also of Hughesville, and his five brothers. He was preceded in death by his late mother, Barbara Jean Clark, December 9, 2008. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at 11 a.m., Friday, August 27, 2010, at Twin Hills Memorial Park, 3332 Lycoming Mall Drive, Muncy. Rev. Isaac L. CRAIG Patricia E. Cole
Age 70, of Lounsbury Avenue in Elmira, formerly of Dayspring I in Corning,
NY went home to be with her Lord on Friday, August 20, 2010 at Arnot Ogden
Medical Center in Elmira. Born in Elmira on July 9, 1940, she was the daughter
of Joseph and Mildred (O'Neill) Craig. She married Frank Cole who she married
on August 21, 1976 and was preceded in death by him in 2006. She was a
member of the First Assembly of God Church in Corning. She is survived
by her sons, Dennis (Lori) Pautz of Elmira Heights and Jeffery (Deanna)
Pautz of Corning; grandchildren, Jeffery, David, Joshua, and Tristian Pautz,
Nick Severs, Noel, Brianna, and Billy Moore; five great grandchildren;
six brothers and two sisters; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling
hours will be held on Wednesday, August 25th from 5-7 PM at First Assembly
of God Church, 260 West Pulteney Street in Corning where funeral services

Webster — Emma Belle (Anne) Fusco-VanHusen 91. Born February
6, 1919 in Avoca, NY daughter of Josephine and Floyd Crocker. died
peacefully in her sleep, August 14, 2010 at her daughter Jackie Fusco-Dunn’s
home in Webster, NY. Predecease by first husband Joseph F. Fusco, second
husband Roland VanHusen, sisters Velma, Drake, Amelia Bucci and brother
Floyd Crocker, son Joseph J. Fusco. Survived by, Joseph J. Fusco’s
wife Betsy Fusco, Jackie Dunn and Patricia Tuliano, David M. Fusco and
Theresa Fusco, Dennis M. Fusco and Vicky L. Fusco, and Madeline M. Frawley.
Grandchildren, Adam Fusco, Lisa Caracci, Jennifer Hunt, Michael Fusco,
Anthony Ronchi, Nicholas Ronchi, Michael Ronchi, Audra Fusco, Danielle

CRONK William C. Cronk age 57, of Troy, Pa., died
Saturday,
Aug. 21, 2010, at the Bradford County Manor. Bill was born Oct. 4, 1952,
in Troy, son of the late Wilbur and Elizabeth (Morgan) Cronk. Bill served
his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was retired
from National Freight where he was employed as a truck driver. He was a
member of the Lighthouse of Faith Church, Co-Founder of Ashley's Angels
in Mississippi and Sylvania Lions Club. Bill was head of the Troy Food
Bank and worked with New Beginnings Rehabilitation Center in Canton, Pa.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 4 p.m. Friday,
Aug. 27, 2010, at the Lighthouse of Faith Church, 49 East Main Street,
Canton Pa., with Pastor Sean Tymeson officiating. Survivors include his

DAVIES Mark W.
Formerly of Big Flats N.Y. died
peacefully Monday, Aug 23, 2010
from an extended illness at his home in New Smyrna Beach Fl. Mark was born
Feb. 14th 1959 and was the son of the late Alfred and Ann (Winters) Davies.
Mark played an intrical role as an advocate and Hot Line Representative
for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. There, for over ten years,
he answered questions and provided support for many patients and their
families. Mark's favorite times were spent at the beach and devoted his
time loving all animals, especially his dogs. He is survived by his faithful
companion Jeff Moffett of FL; his daughter Shylah Davies of Big Flats;
brother Terrance Davies of Corning; sisters, Joann(Robert) Halleran of
N.C. and Patricia (William) Terry of Corning. Mark is also survived by
many loving nieces and nephews. Those who wish may make contributions in

DILDINE Edythe L. Burkholder
92, of Hughesville, died Sunday, August 22, 2010. Born November 13,
1917, in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Nina B. Koch
Dildine. Her husband of 31 years, Kenneth L. Burkholder, preceded her in
death on April 17, 1979. Edythe was a graduate of the Hughesville High
School Class of 1935 and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Hughesville.
She was employed at the former GTE Sylvania, Emporium during World War
II and post war through the early 1960's at Hughesville Machine & Tool
Company, which was operated by Clyde Kiess. Edythe retired in the early
1980's from Motor Truck Equipment Company after having worked there for
over 10 years. She was an avid walker who also enjoyed gardening,
sewing, traveling, sight seeing and above all, spending time with her family.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth W. (Jodie) Burkholder of Hughesville with
whom she lived; a daughter, Nina D. (Terry) Rynearson of Hanover; and three
grandchildren, Kenneth W. Burkholder Jr. of Pittsburgh, Clint P. Burkholder
of Hughesville and Amanda K. Yiengst of Hanover. In addition to her
parents and husband, Edythe was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Dildine
and two brothers, William and John Dildine. Funeral services will be held

DiMASSIMO Sandra L. Wingo
60, of 1864 Hayes Ave., died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010 at Rose View Center
following an extended illness. Sandy and her husband, Frank H. (Butch)
Wingo, observed their 32nd wedding anniversary on Dec. 30, 2009. Sandy
was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Williamsport, enjoyed
crocheting and doing jigsaw puzzles. Born Jan. 21, 1950 in Williamsport,
she was the daughter of John and Betty Dewalt DiMassimo. Surviving
in addition to her husband are her mother, Betty DiMassimo of Cogan Station;
son Christopher (Tammy) Thomas of Allenwood; daughters, Tracy (Jamey) Meyers
of Clearfield and Janeen Wingo at home; bothers, John and Joseph DiMassimo
both of Cogan Station and Americo DiMassimo of Sunbury; sisters Dolly Sampson
and Shirley Kelly both of Williamsport; grandchildren, Danny (Courtney)
and Seth Fredericks, Christopher, Craig and Samantha Thomas. Sandy was

DIMMICK Betty J. Oakes
83, of 330 Valley Road, Nisbet, died on Sunday, August 22, 2010, at
her home. Betty and her husband, Frederick H. Oakes, observed their 63rd
wedding anniversary on November 20, 2009. Betty was a member of the Trinity
Assembly of God Church, Montoursville. She was trained in classical piano
and used her talents for the glory of the Lord for several area churches.
She was also a companion for elderly women and a loving wife and mother.
Born July 15, 1927, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Hazel Dimmick.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Jeffrey F. Oakes of Stokesdale,
N.C.; daughters, Vivian D. (Richard) Palmer of Mansfield, Patricia A. (Albert)
Carlin of Telford, Debra L. Oakes of Franklinton, N.C. and Virginia L.
(Donald) Mims of Pearl, Miss.; a sister, Mary Kreisher of Bloomsburg; seven
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by a brother,
Donald Dimmick. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Knight-Confer's,

DIXON Joyce Arlene Dixon Wolyniec, 71, of Vallamont Drive, NW,
died
Monday, August 23, 2010, at her home. She was born February
25, 1939, in Vandergrift, the daughter of John C. Dixon and Martha Belle
Clawson. Joyce was the wife of the late James T. Wolyniec Sr. with whom
she shared nearly 49 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2009. She
was a member of the Loyalsock Women's Club, Loyalsock Garden Club, Williamsport
Country Club and the Junior League of Williamsport. Joyce was an avid golf
player and loved playing bridge. She enjoyed watching the animals come
into her backyard to feed. Joyce loved traveling and Scottsdale, Ariz.
being her favorite place to visit. She cherished the relationship with
the ones that knew and loved her. Joyce is survived by a son, James
T. (Michele) Wolyniec of Cogan Station; two daughters, Wendy L. Wolyniec
of Milton and Christy W. (Douglas) McCoy of Williamsport; seven grandchildren,

ENDERS Wilbert A. (Bill) Enders, 73, of 68 Orchard Lane, Jersey Shore, died Friday morning, August 27, 2010, in the Jersey Shore Hospital. Born August 30, 1936, in Jersey Shore, he was the son of Lester Enders and the former Marie Greene. Bill is survived by his wife, the former Nancy J. Snyder, they were united in marriage July 6, 1957 in Oval United Methodist Church. Bill was a self employed fruit farmer in the Nippenose Valley and was the owner of Enders Fruit Farm and Orchard. He also worked as a truck driver for many years. During the Korean War he served his country in the United States Navy. Also surviving are his two daughters, Yvonne M. (Whitey) Palmatier and Valerie A. (Wayne) Guiswite, both of Jersey Shore. There are five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Bill was the last survivor of five children. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday Aug. 30, in the Oval United Methodist Church, 6796 State Route 44 Highway, Jersey Shore. Friends may call the church from 9 a.m. to the time of service. Hughesville, formerly of Ickesburg, died Aug. 17, 2010 at the Williamsport
Hospital. He was born June 2, 1958, in Lancaster, a son of the late Sidney
B. Sr. and Betty (Derr) Feldser. Sidney attended the Hughesville Baptist
Church. He was a NASCAR racing and Penn State football fan and loved playing
poker with his brothers. He is survived by two sisters, Betty (James)
Runkle, Duncannon and Linda (Bill) Zeigler, Columbus, GA; two brothers,
Richard Feldser, Hughesville and Daniel (Regina) Feldser, Muncy; three
nieces , Linda, Chrissy and Stephanie and a nephew, Billy. In addition

Mr. Cameron E. Fike, 58, of 1418 E. Third St., Williamsport, died Monday,
August 23, 2010, at his home. Mr. Fike was employed as a printer by Unique
Industries of Montoursville. Cameron enjoyed music, using computers, working
with electronics, traveling on cruises and playing cards. He was always
most interested in his family and their activities and spending time with
the members of his family. Cameron and his wife, the former Pat Harner,
were united in marriage on March 18, 1978. Together they shared 32 years
of marriage. Born March 2, 1952, at Williamsport, he was the son of the
late Paul W. Sr. and Beverly M. Ohnmeiss Fike. Surviving are his wife,
Pat Fike, at home; his three daughters and sons-in-law, Mecca M. and her
husband, Carlos Miron of Muncy, Traci D. and her husband, Donald Houtz

GOLDER Ruby M. Sheets
90, of Muncy Valley, died Monday, August 23, 2010, at the Muncy Valley
Hospital. Born April 22, 1920, in Elizabeth, N.J., she was a daughter of
the late Charles A. and Zula Z. Holdren Golder. Ruby was a devoted wife,
mother and grandmother who enjoyed helping people when ever she could.
She served on the election board for Shrewsbury Township for many years
and had also served as Judge of Elections. Ruby loved cooking, baking,
embroidery and flower gardening. Surviving are two sons, Frank M. Spencer
of New Columbia and Robert L. Spencer of Montgomery; a daughter, Suzann
L. Laidacker of Muncy Valley; one step-son, Dale Spencer of Virginia; a
step-daughter, Ann Brelsford of Muncy; a sister, Neva Barber of Jersey
Shore; four grandchildren, Josh Laidacker, Jeremy Laidacker, Jacey Kennedy
and Eric Spencer; and one great-grandson, Keagan Laidacker. In addition

GOSPER John M
Troy, Pa. — John M. Gosper, 69, of Town & Country Estates, Troy,
Pa., entered into rest on Sunday morning, August 22, at Soldiers &
Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro after a short illness. Born
in Corning on January 8, 1941, John was the son of Wesley A. and Irene
M. Mose Gosper. He attended Addison Central School. Following school he
was employed by Polio Dairy in Campbell. John later worked as an
electrician as a Department of Defense contractor and was assigned to various
military installations around the world. He finished his career with an
assignment of over 15 years at the Lexington, KY Army Depot. He also enjoyed
carpentry work. Surviving John are his long time companion, Betty Fish
of Troy, his daughter, Rebecca Gosper and his grandson, Landon Foster,
both of Maysville, KY, his sisters, Helen (Clifford) Stage and Ruth Stage,
both of Addison, his aunt, Isabel Risley of Addison, special friend, Robin
Aldrich of Troy, special nephews, Michael & John Gosper of Lexington,
KY and several other nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by
his brothers, Arnold Gosper and Kenneth Gosper and his aunt, Dorothy Gosper.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, August 28, at 1:00 pm
at the Woodhull Cemetery Chapel, with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating.

HARTMAN Baby Thomas William Hartman died
on Tuesday, Aug.
17, 2010 at the Arnot-Ogden Medical Center, in Elmira, NY from his premature
birth. He was born on Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, the infant son of Alaina and
Joshua Hartman of RR 2, Mehoopany, PA. Baby Thomas was the twin brother
of Caddy May Hartman. He is survived by his sisters, Iesha and Kayleen,
and brother, Ian. Also surviving are his grandparents, Ruthann Nace and

HEFTY Marilouise
On Sunday, August 22, 2010, Marilouise Hefty Miller died
at
her home in Watsontown. She was the daughter of the late Harry Johnson
and Eleanor Rebecca (Robbins) Hefty. She was preceded in death by her husband,
C. Robert Miller in 1999 and a daughter, Lisbeth Miller Lamb in 1997. Surviving
are four daughters: Cheryl Rhoades, Flint Hill, Va.; Christina M. Wolfe,
Watsontown; Laurie A. "Wildflower" Miller, Lewisburg; and Mary "Eleanor"
(Ellie) Striplin of McEwensville; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren,
a brother John A. Hefty of Watsontown and a sister, Clarice H. Gilmore
of Moorestown, N.J. and Eagles Mere. She graduated from Watsontown High
School and later from Penn State University in 1944. She taught in
the Canton School District for three years and was a substitute teacher
for several years at the Warrior Run School District. She was also the
Senior Center Manager of Watsontown for at least ten years. She gave piano
lessons in her home for many years and was the organist for over 40 years
and a lifemember at Watsontown United Methodist Church. A memorial service
will be held Sunday, September 12 at 3 p.m. at the Trinity United Church
of Christ, 602 Main Street, Watsontown, with the Revs. Ed Henry and Douglas
Eberly officiating. Interment will follow in Watsontown Cemetery. In lieu

HERCYK Darrell Bohdan
St. George, Utah — Darrell Bohdan Hercyk, formerly of Bath, New York
died
August 15, 2010. He was born October 22, 1959 in Bath,
New York to Bohdan and Beverly Hercyk. He married his sweetheart Julie
Topham on March 7, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were sealed a year
later in the St. George, Utah Temple. Darrell was a graduate of Haverling
Central Schools in 1978 where he excelled in music, soccer, and track and
field. He still holds several records and was inducted into the Haverling
Hall of Fame in 2008. Darrell was a very caring wonderful father
to his daughter Jessie. He loved taking his girls camping and hiking. He
was an exceptional builder, decorator, and landscape artist. Darrell was
also a talented artist whose artwork was featured in several shows. Darrell
was an employee of Sky West Airlines as a systems analyst. He is
survived by his wife Julie and daughter Jessie of St. George, Utah; his
parents Bohdan and Beverly Hercyk of Bath, New York; brothers Jeff (Fiancee
Corinna) Hercyk of Bath, New York and Darren (Lori) Hercyk of Khartoum,
Sudan. Darrell will be greatly missed by his many other nieces, nephews,
and extended family members. Memorial calling hours will be held
on Thursday August 26, 2010 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at the Bond-Davis Funeral

HIPPLE Dr. Randall Fraser Hipple
76, of 1217 Woodmont Avenue, died Sunday, August 22, 2010, at the University
of Arkansas Medical Center, Little Rock, Ark. with his wife, Mary Ann,
by his side. Dr. Hipple was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy in 1952,
Princeton University-A.B. in 1956, University of Pennsylvania School of
Medicine-M.D. in 1960 and Temple University-Master of Science (Obstetrics
and Gynecology) in 1964. Dr. Hipple served as a Captain in the U.S.
Army Medical Corps from 1964 to 1966 during the Vietnam War. Dr. Hipple
joined Lycoming Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1966 and retired from there
in 1997. During his professional career he served in numerous capacities
with the Lycoming County Medical Society and the American College of Obstetricians
and Gynecologists. He had held memberships in the Pennsylvania Medical
Association, American Medical Association, a Diplomat of American Board
of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Obstetrical Society of Philadelphia, Central
Pennsylvania Gynecologic Society, American Association of Gynecological
Laparoscopists and the Gynecologic Laser Society. He served in various
positions at the Williamsport Hospital including Chief of Staff, Chairman
of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and President of the Medical
Staff and at Divine Providence Hospital as Chief of Staff. Dr. Hipple
served for 34 years on Williamsport City Council from 1972 to 2005. He
was President for 12 years and served on most of its committees.
Dr. Hipple had formerly served with many community organizations including
the Williamsport Community Arts Council, Lycoming County March of Dimes,
Lycoming United Way, Sheridan School PTO, Local Government Advisory Committee
of Lycoming County, Pharmacy Committee-Divine Providence Hospital, Lycoming
County Medical Services Association, Northeastern Sickle Cell Association,
Williamsport-Lycoming Chamber of Commerce, the Lycoming County Unit American
Cancer Society, Princeton University, Rotary Club of Williamsport, Obstetric
Task Force of Central Pennsylvania, National Sojourners, the Williamsport-Lycoming
Foundation Community Advisory Board, the City of Williamsport Recreation
Commission and Board of Health, the Williamsport Country Club and on the
Board of the Friends of Joseph Priestley House. Dr. Hipple was a direct
descendent of Joseph Priestley. Dr. Hipple was a member of Covenant-Central
Presbyterian Church, serving as president of the Board of Deacons and the
Trustees. He was a member of American Legion Post 1, the Young Men's Democratic
Club, John F. Laedlein Lodge #707 F. and A.M., Lycoming County Historical
Society and Museum and the Executive Committee of the Lycoming County Democratic
Party. Dr. Hipple was honored for his strong commitment to historic
preservation in 2005 when the "Dr. Randall F. Hipple Historic District"
was designated in recognition of his efforts. He received the following
other Awards: Lycoming United Fund Campaign Chairman's Award in 1971, Teacher
of the Year-Family Practice Residency Training Program, The Williamsport
Hospital in 1976, Brotherhood Award-Conferred by the National Conference
of Christians and Jews in 1981, Rotary Community Service Award in 1995,
Lycoming County Medical Society Community Service Award in 1999 and the
Williamsport-Lycoming Foundation Community Service Award in 1999.
Dr. Hipple served on the following fundraising campaigns for Divine Providence
Hospital, the Little League Stadium Expansion, LIFT III, Lycoming United
Way, Williamsport Community Arts Council, Williamsport Area High School
Band, Covenant-Central Presbyterian Church and Princeton University.
Born March 18, 1934, in Williamsport and raised in Lock Haven, he was the
son of Henry M. and Jane Lyon Fraser Hipple. Surviving are his wife
of 12 years, the former Mary Ann Swan Schubert; a daughter, Stephanie P.
(Kenneth) Young of Williamsport; sons, Scott W. (Marcie) Hipple of Baltimore,
MD and Steven F. Hipple of Chevy Chase, MD; step-sons, Frank E. (Stephanie)
Schubert II of Camp Hill, Peter C. (Angela) Schubert of Lewisburg and David

HUNSINGER Pamela Ann Kish
Pamela Ann Kish, age 51, of Corning, died
peacefully on Friday,
August 27th, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family. Pamela's unwavering
faith in her savior Jesus Christ was ever present throughout her battle
with breast cancer. She is now walking on the streets of gold with Jesus.
All that knew Pamela will forever remember her smile. Even during difficult
times she continued to smile and look for the good in every situation.
She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Pamela was born August
4th, 1959 to Glenn and Mary Hunsinger, Sr. of Horseheads, NY. She was married
to the love of her life, Paul Kish, for 18 beautiful years. They have three
children, Kaitlyn Kish (14), Michelle Tieman (27), and Michael Ruger (29).
Pamela was a teacher in the Corning-Painted Post School district for eleven
years. During her tenure with the school district she taught at Kent Phillips
Elementary School and at Corning Free Academy Middle School. She also taught
English at the Alternative School for Math and Science for two years. Pamela's
passion for teaching and her students expanded beyond the classroom. Pamela
cherished time with her family and friends at their lake house on Lamoka
Lake. She enjoyed cookouts, boating, campfires, board games, and movie
nights with her family. Christmas was by far Pamela's favorite time of
year. She enjoyed decorating the house, frosting Christmas cookies with
the kids, wrapping the entryways to the living room for Christmas morning,
and trying to disguise Paul's gifts so he could not guess them. She was
a member and board member of Higher Hope Church in Horseheads. Pamela was
a prayer warrior and truly lived life by her faith. Her family would like
to extend a special thank you to Higher Hope for their support and ministry
during Pamela's treatment. Along with Pamela's husband, children, and parents
she is survived by two brothers, David Fogg of Waxhaw, NC and Glenn Hunsinger,
Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA, and two grandchildren, Jennifer Martinez and
Abigial Tieman of Morgantown, WV. Relatives and friends are invited to

JOHNSON Wilma R. Johnson Ridall
of Mehoopany died Tuesday in the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. She
was born in Benton on March 2, 1927, daughter of the late Warren and Ella
Stackhouse Johnson. Wilma was a 1946 graduate of Benton High School and
a graduate of the Empire Beauty School. She was preceded in death by her
husband of 63 years Harold J. Ridall Sr.; brothers Sterling Johnson, LaRue
Johnson; sisters Nola Baker and Lila Woolever. Surviving are sons
Van of Mehoopany, Terry of Retta, Earnest of Jenningsville, Mark of Mehoopany
and Harold of Meshoppen; brothers Warren Johnson Jr. of Williamsport, Paul
Johnson of Bloomsburg; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous

Corning — Frederick E. Kendall, age 75, of Bath, died
on Thursday,
August 26, 2010 at Corning Hospital. Frederick was born September
8, 1934 in Akron, NY. He is the son of the late Ellsworth E. and Minetha
U. (Anderson) Kendall. He married Ruth McKelvie on August 17, 1957.
He was a vocal music teacher at Bath Haverling Central School for 29 years
and was an NYSSMA adjudicator. Frederick was an active member
of the Gideons, and Southern Tier Chorus. He was a Buffalo Bills fan ...

his grandchildren. Frederick is survived by his wife, Ruth (McKelvie)

84, of 1409 Oaks Ave., Loyalsock Twp., and a guest at Valley View Nursing
Center, died
Friday, August 20, 2010, at the home. She was born,
May 12, 1926, in Williamsport a daughter of L. Ray and Alice Thomas Kimble.
Eleanor was a former member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church where she was
a choir member and a choir mother. She retired from Norge Village in Montoursville,
and enjoyed family camping, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and her cat Cody.
On April 14, 2010, she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Harold
L. "Roy" Mosier. She is also predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.
Surviving Eleanor is three sons, Thomas L. (Barb) of Cogan Station, Dennis
R. (Deb) of Montoursville, and Charles F. (Lisa) of Mechanicsburg; a daughter,
Jane A. (Larry) Bannon of Montoursville; fifteen grandchildren, fifteen
great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren.

on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010 in the Muncy Valley Hospital
Skilled Nursing Unit. Born in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County, Pa., on Thursday,
June 13, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ina (Reamsnyder)
Kunz. June was the widow of William Keith Shoemaker Sr. who preceded her
in death 1979. She was a graduate of Wilkinsburg High School and was a
homemaker. June attended Muncy Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She is survived by one son, Dwight David Shoemaker, Hughesville, PA; one
daughter, Linda Joyce Allman, Columbia, SC; one sister, Doris Fetter, Pittsburgh,
PA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, June was preceded in death by one son, William
Keith Shoemaker in 1987 and her brother, Alvin Kunz. A memorial service

Binghamton, N.Y. — Ruth M. Potts, age 76, of Binghamton, formerly
of Corning, died
on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Lourdes Hospital
in Binghamton. She was born on January 17, 1934 in Hornby, the daughter
of Melvin and Hazel R. (Leonard) Maynard. Ruth graduated from the
Arnot Ogden School of Nursing and retired from the Binghamton Psychiatric
Center in 1992 following 33 years of service. She enjoyed spending
time with her family, gardening, and baking especially making cookies.
Ruth was a life member of the Corning VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Ruth is survived
by her sons, Richard Potts of Campbell, Doug (Rosanna) Potts of Conklin,
and David Potts of Binghamton, sister, Iona Stevens of Corning, Jean Tarcza
of Myrtle Beach, SC, Marion Krevey of Surfside Beach, SC, and Ellie Austin
of Campbell, and sister-in-law, Barbara Maynard of Campbell. She
also has 4 grandchildren, Christina Potts, Jessica Potts, Christopher (Melissa)
Potts, and Jennifer (Jeremy) Detwiler, 4 great grandchildren, and several

68, of 539 Route 973 East, Cogan Station, died, Tuesday, August 24,
2010, at his home surrounded by his family. John and his wife, the former
Shirley F. Hester, observed their 46th wedding anniversary on January 16,
2010. John was a member of the Hepburn Baptist Church and an Army veteran.
He retired from Textron after 39 years of service. John enjoyed doing yard
work and gardening around his house, watching football and spending time
with his wife and family. Born November 1, 1941, in Williamsport, he was
the son of John C. and Evelyn Mae Wright Menne. Surviving in addition to
his wife are a daughter, Kim Y. (Andy Kendall) Menne of Williamsport; grandchildren,

PETRUSKEVICH Peter Paul Petruskevich Jr., 78, of 24 E Third St, Apt 301, Mt. Carmel, died on Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Mount Carmel Nursing Center where he has resided since May 2006. He was in ill health since 2005. Born in Brooklyn, New York on June 22, 1932, he was the son of the late Peter Phillip Petruskevich and Bernice (Stasulevich) Petruskevich. He was a resident of the Mt. Carmel Area for 55 years. He also lived in Williamsport for 20 years. Peter worked at the Lady Hope Garment Factory in Kulpmont, Neece Paper Company, and Bastian Tire Company in Williamsport. Peter was educated at the Scranton State School for the Deaf and the Philadelphia School for the Deaf. On March 31, 1984 he married Marion Garramone in Hazleton, PA. He was a member of the Church of Our Lady in Mt. Carmel. Peter was a life social member of the Clover Hose Fire Company. He was also a social member of the Lithuanian Cultural Club, the Sons of Poland, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the Anthracite Fire Company, all of Mt. Carmel. In addition to his wife, Marion, he is survived by his daughters, Dorothy Randall of Williamsport, Mary Emerick and her husband, Tom, of Williamsport, Ann Harman and her husband, Leroy, of Williamsport, Rose Seewald and her husband, Scott, of Montoursville, Kristina Baluta and her husband, John, of Mt. Carmel, as well as Maria Petruskevich and her significant other, Zach Lahr, of Shamokin. Grandchildren include George Randall, Gregory and Tyler Emerick, Ashley and Leroy Harman Jr., Falisha, Michael, Kayla, Thomas, and Linda Petruskevich of Williamsport, Nicole and Christopher Seewald of Montoursville, Christopher Baluta of Mt. PLANKENHORN Frederic M. Plankenhorn
70, a long-time radio personality who called himself the "Memory Merchant,"
died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010 at his home, 840 St. Davids Road. He was the
retired third generation president of Plankenhorn Stationery, Co., but
radio was his first love. Fred helped established former Radio Station
WMPT in South Williamsport in 1957, while still a student at Williamsport
High School. He also helped organize the first "record hop" at the First
Ward Fire Co. in South Williamsport in 1958, and worked with the Williamsport
Recreation Commission to start outdoor dances in Brandon and Memorial parks.
His first dance in Memorial Park drew a record attendance of 1,285.
From 1975 through 1977, he served as master of ceremonies for talent shows
in Brandon Park, sponsored by the Williamsport Foundation and the recreation
commission. Fred called himself the "Memory Merchant" because his specialty
was the "Oldies." He would do extensive research about events from the
1950s, 1960s and 1970s for use on his radio shows. At the time of his death,
he had a Saturday night show on WQBR-FM. It had been on the air since 1998.
Prior to that, his shows had been on WLYC, WGBE-FM, WWPA and WZRZ-FM.
In 1967 at the age of 27, Fred became the first Democrat to be elected
to the Loyalsock Twp. Board of Supervisors. He was elected assistant secretary-treasurer
of the board and named recreation committee chairman the following year.
He was elected vice chairman of the board in 1972 and 1973 and was chairman
from 1974 to 1977. Fred was appointed to the Lycoming County Authority
in 1976, was elected vice chairman in 1978 and had been chairman from 1980
to the present. He was appointed to the Lycoming County Airport Authority
in 1978 and served as assistant secretary/treasurer from 1980 through 1983.
Had his health not begun to fail, Fred intended to be a team host, known
as "Uncles" at the Little League World Series. He had volunteered his time
as an "Uncle" since 1966. Last year, Plankenhorn and his long-time fellow
"Uncle" Paul Weaver received the Howard E. Hartman Friendship Award at
the series. Fred was active in the Williamsport-Lycoming Chamber
of Commerce. He was elected to its board of directors in 1975, 1978, 1996,
1999, 2002 and 2005 and was appointed to its executive committee in 1979
and 1980. He served as chairman of its air service committee from 1985
through 1987. Plankenhorn was elected to the Leadership Lycoming board
of directors in 1996 and 1999. He served a mentor to the Leadership Lycoming
Program in 1993, 1994, 1998 and 1999. He served on the Divine Providence
Hospital board of directors between 1969 and 1976. Fred chaired the public
relations committee and was a member of the finance and legal and legislative
committees. Fred was a member of the Williamsport Rotary Club between
1964 and 2001. He served as treasurer in 1968 and 1969 and sergeant-at-arms
from 1979 to 2001. Fred was named a Paul Harris Fellow in 1989 and received
Rotarian of the Year Award for community service in 1991. From 1972 through
1978, he served as master of ceremonies for Lycoming County Crippled Children
Christmas Parties sponsored by Stroehmann Bakeries and the Rotary Club.
He was appointed the Governor's Justice Commission, Central Region Planning
Council in 1976 and reappointed in 1978. Fred was a member of the
corporate board of directors of the former Northern Central Bank between
1976 and 1997, serving as a member or chairman of numerous committees.
He was a member of the board's executive committee between 1990 and 1997.
Born Aug. 24, 1940, he was the son of Catherine-Jane (C.J) and Charles
F. Plankenhorn. He attended Williamsport public schools and Penn State
University. Fred enlisted in the U.S. Air Force 1960 and was schooled in
crypto/communications at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas in 1961. He was
named Outstanding Airman - Air Forces Iceland/NATO the same year. Plankenhorn
was elected vice commander of the honor drill team of the 73rd Air Division
at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida in 1963. Upon returning to Williamsport,
he joined the Greater Williamsport Jaycees and was a member of its board
of directors in 1967 and 1968. He was master of ceremonies for the Jaycee
Air Show in 1969 and the "voice" of the Williamsport National Air Show
from 1980 through 1984. The Jaycees presented him their SPOKE Award
in 1965 and in 1970, named him the Outstanding Young Man of the Year.
As a youngster, Fred was active in Boy Scouts first with Troop 9 and then
Sea Explorer Ship 109, both at Pine Street United Methodist Church. He
became an Eagle Scout in 1955, an Eagle with a bronze palm in 1956 and
an Eagle with a gold palm in 1957. He was a member of the National Eagle
Scout Association. He was elected to the Order of the Arrow, a Scout honor
organization in 1957, and was on the staff at Camp Kline between 1955 and
1957. He was a member of the executive board of the Susquehanna Council
of Boy Scouts in 1990 and 1991. In 1968, Fred was elected to the
boards of the Lycoming County Child Day Care Center and Lycoming County
Visiting Nurses Association Home Health Aid Services. He was elected treasurer
of the visiting nurses board in 1969. Fred was a member of the Ross
Club and was elected to the board of directors in 1978. He was elected
secretary in 1980 and 1981, vice president in 1982 and president in 1983.
Fred served as a member of the Williamsport Area Community College Advisory
Council in 1982 and as a member of the college's foundation in 1983 and
1984. Fred was chairman of the 1968 Lycoming County "Measles Immunization
Sunday", a project sponsored by the Lycoming County Medical Society, Pennsylvania
Department of Health and the Council of Community Services. Fred
served as a worker, team captain and section leader in various civic fund
drives and community activities including United Way, YMCA and Williamsport
Hospital. He was a member of Texas-Blockhouse Fish and Game Club
since 1967, American Legion Post 1, Dietrick Lamade Lodge 755, F&AM
and Valley of Williamsport Consistory. Surviving are his wife of
43 years, the former Ann Fair, son Christopher and his wife Denise, grandchildren

PRESTON Sylvia Ann Remas
72, of Loyalsock Twp., found rest on August 24, 2010, at the Gatehouse
after living with chronic illness for many years. She was born in New Kensington,
Pa., on September 15, 1937, daughter of the late Benjamin H. and Charlotte
Coleman Preston. Raised in Williamsport, Sylvia was a graduate of Williamsport
Area High School, had worked at Sears in Williamsport and the former Northern
Central Bank before moving to Taylor, Pa., for some 40 years. While in
the Scranton area she had volunteered at the St. Francis of Assisi Soup
Kitchen. She moved back to Williamsport with her husband six years ago,
was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Annunciation Church and very
active in her faith. Sylvia was a member of the Divine Providence Hospital
Auxiliary. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived
by her husband of 45 years, Michael W. Remas; daughter, Judith Remas Gilliland
and her husband David and granddaughter Katie Grace, all of Bucks County,
Pa.; a son, R. Mark Hutchinson and his wife and a granddaughter Cheryl;
and great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jessie; a sister, Susan Kranz of Cogan
Station; nieces and nephews. A brother, William Preston, preceded her in
death. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10 a.m. at
Annunciation Church, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport with Rev. David W.
Betchtel officiating, with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery. There

Painted Post, N.Y. — Katherine G. Culver, age 87, of Painted
Post died
Monday, August 23, 2010. She is now in the arms of her
Savior and is dancing with her husband. Kay was born in Bath on October
22, 1922, to Clarence and Marian (Agar) Robinson. She married Charles
Culver; he predeceased her. Kay was a member of Corning First United
Methodist Church. She touched many lives through her dedication to
Christ. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, was church school
secretary, communion steward, and taught Bible study. Kay also touched
lives through work as a secretary and Girl Scout leader. She is survived
by three sons: Harry, Tim, and John Culver and three daughters, Jacquelyn
Roe, Marion Sortore, and Sandy Bills. Kay was an incredibly proud grandmother
of eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Along with her husband
and parents, one brother, Tom, and one sister, Dorothy, predeceased Kay.
A memorial service will take place at the First United Methodist Church
on Cedar Street in Corning, Thursday, August 26 at 6:00 PM. In lieu

RODGERS Richard T. Rodgers Sr., 65, a resident of Montgomery,
died
unexpectedly on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at his residence. Born
in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pa., on Thursday, July 12, 1945, he was
the son of the late Raymond and Caroline (Thomas) Rodgers. Rick was
the husband of Lorraine E. (Erbacher) Rodgers with whom he celebrated a
13th wedding anniversary on September 13, 2009. Rick was a 1963 graduate
of Montgomery High School. He was retired from Construction Specialties
at Muncy where he was employed for 28 years, retiring this year. He was
the former owner of Rick's News Stand at Montgomery and had also been employed
by the former Montgomery Mills. Rick was a member of the Sons of
the American Legion. He was a lifetime member of Montgomery Volunteer Fire
Co. and was an avid golfer and member of the White Deer Golf Course.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law,
Kimberly and Dick Wertz, Montgomery; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard
T. and Amy Rodgers Jr., Sunbury; one step-daughter and step-son-in-law,
Patricia and Jack Southerland, Jacksonville, Fla.; one step-son, Ivan Stugart,
Montgomery; one sister, Janice (Dale) Beaver, Watsontown; two brothers,
Danny (Dottie) Rodgers, Union, S.C.; Ronnie (Rose) Rodgers, Montgomery.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many
many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, Tomma Nuss
and his wife's family, the Erbachers. A memorial service will be
conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy
at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2010, with Rev. James R. Pentz, pastor
of the New Covenant Assembly at Montgomery, officiating. Friends may call

RYAN Cecilia R. Marshall, 87, of RR 2 Box 116, Meshoppen, PA,
died
at her home in Myo Beach on Friday morning, Aug. 20, 2010 after
a long illness. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 20,1923, the daughter
of the late William Ryan and Anna Ryan Meade. Born and raised in
Brooklyn, she graduated from St. Nicholas High School. Mrs. Marshall and
her family relocated to the Meshoppen area in 1974. She was preceded in
death by her husband, William Marshall, who died
on Dec. 25, 1982.
While living in the Meshoppen area, she was a member of St. Joachim’s Roman
Catholic Church in Meshoppen. Surviving are three daughters, Carol (Charles)
Kirchoff of Elmhurst, NY, Linda Thompson (Richard Williams) of Tunkhannock
and Lisa Marshall of Meshoppen; two sons, William (MaryJo) Marshall of
Rochester, NY and Bruce (Jamie) Marshall of Meshoppen; 10 grandchildren,
Jenny (Richard) Wu of Los Angeles, CA, Christopher (Pierrette) Kirchoff
of Brooklyn, NY, Joseph Thompson of Tunkhannock, Christine Thompson of
Tunkhannock, Jennifer (Dan) Orlic of Centereach, NY, William (Amber) Marshall
of Surprise, AZ, Holly MacBain of Tunkhannock, Francis Marshall, Beau Marshall

SCOUTEN Henry Scouten
went home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Saturday, August 21st, two
days after his 94th birthday. Mr. Scouten was a member of Grace Lee Wesleyan
Church in Beaver Dams where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and
Board Member. He was also an honorary member of Grace Fellowship
in Corning. He was chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the
Town of Erwin in the 1970's. In his later years, he also served as
President of Erwin Senior Citizens, President of Steuben County Council
of Senior Citizens and a member of the Advisory Board of the Steuben County
Office of the Aging. He was named Senior Citizen of the Year in 1990
by the Office of the Aging. Mr. Scouten was recently recognized at
a Corning, Inc. luncheon for his 75 years of service to the company.
He worked in refractories and at pressware while employed by Corning, Inc.
Most important of all, Henry was first and foremost a husband, father,
grandfather and great-grandfather. Henry loved to take his grandchildren
fishing and playing mini-golf. Survivors include his wife of 69 years,
Mable Anna Kimble Scouten; Sons: Dr. William H. Scouten (Nancy) of Stephensville,
TX; James Scouten, Esq. (Delight) of Corning, NY; grandchildren: Lisa Scouten,
Dr. Linda Scouten Costin, William Scouten, Thomas Scouten, Michael Scouten,
Dr. George Scouten, Edith Grace Scouten and 15 great-grandchildren.
His grandson David Scouten predeceased him. The calling hours will be Thursday,
August 26th from 1-3 pm with a funeral service at 3 pm with Pastor
Matt Pickering officiating at Phillips Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
17 W. Pulteney St. in Corning. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery.

Born on June 6, 1932 in Jersey Shore, she was the daughter of the late
Harry B. and Claire R. (Forcey) Shields. She was a 1950 graduate of Jersey
Shore High School and a member of the Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren,
Eastville, Pa. Doris was a homemaker the majority of her life and enjoyed
quilting, puzzles and seamstress work. She is survived by five sons, Walter
(Peg) Barner of Loganton, Jerry (Nancy) Barner of Winston, Salem, N.C.,
Dale (Pam) Barner, Springfield, Tenn., Jim (Vicki) Barner, Jersey Shore,
Gordon (Lori) Barner of Jersey Shore, a daughter Barbara (Larry) Munro
of Jersey Shore, a twin brother Dale C. Shields of Jersey Shore, two sisters
Phyllis (Don) Eggler of Woolrich and Olive Miller of Woolrich, 26 grandchildren
and 42 great-grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents, she was
predeceased by three sons, Frank Barner, Kenny Barner abd Mark Barner,

at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville. She was born March 29, 1948,
in Williamsport, a daughter of Louis and Anna Kuzio Southworth. Joanne
had worked at Valley View Nursing Center and was a member of the Community
Church of Allenwood. She enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, reading and playing
with her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward
J. McQuade Sr. in 1990. Joanne is survived by a son, Charles L. McQuade;
two daughters, Michelle E. (Jason) DeRemer and Anna M. McQuade; three step-children,

at Susque-View Home in Lock Haven. Born Oct. 25, 1924 in Williamsport,
she was a daughter of Clarence and Clair Tubbs. She was a homemaker and
enjoyed cooking and loved soending time with her grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by her husband Walter J. Baney, four children, Walter
H. Baney, Blair Baney, Marlalue Baney and Donna Baney, and five siblings.
Surviving are four children, Betty Eckard, Ronald Baney and Dean Baney,
all of Williamsport, and Inez Confer of Loganton, grandchildren John Eckard,

Formerly of Southport and presently residing in Dundee, died
Sunday morning, August 15, 2010 at Schuyler Hospital following an illness.
Born on December 15, 1936 in Elmira, Gail was the daughter of the late
Henry and Bernice Guile Tuttle. She married Charles White on March 8, 1956.
Gail was employed for over 20 years by the Elmira City School District
as a bus driver. During those years she became a second mother to many
of her young passengers and was lovingly called "Ma". She enjoyed many
camping trips with her family and her interests included, playing cards,
making ceramics, bowling and bingo. Surviving is her loving family, husband
and friend of 54 years, Charles "Chuck" White, Dundee; their children,
William (Nancy) White, Pine City; Edward (fiancée, Penelope "Penny"
Jamison) White, Dundee; Michelle (David) Hurd, Dundee; Daniel (Angie) White,
Elmira; Spencer (Jennifer) White, Dundee; sixteen grandchildren, several
great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; aunt, Dora Tuttle; sister-in-law,
Pat (Bill) Mawher; brother-in-law, Roy (Thelma) White. In addition to her
parents, Gail was predeceased by a son, Michael White; brothers, William

SAYRE, PA. — Michael C. VanGelder, 54, of the Back Valley Road died
Friday, August 27, 2010 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.
He was born February 3, 1956 in Bath, the son of Charles A. and Liselotte
Frehe VanGelder. Michael was a boat restorer and carpenter in this area
and also was a carpenter in Buffalo and he loved nature. Surviving
are his mother, Liselotte VanGelder, brother; Steven Van-Gelder; of Hammondsport;
sister, Pamela (Darrell) Riddle of Tulsa, OK.; fiance, Karen DeMace of
Savona, aunt and uncle Richard and Betty VanGelder of Lima, N.Y., and many
cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Charles A. Van Gelder

Van HORN Christine Dunbar, 91, a longtime resident of Troy, Pa.,
died
at home on Friday evening, Aug. 20, 2010. Born on Sept. 6,
1918 in Troy Township, Eleanor Christine was a daughter of the late Luther
and Leota (Baxter) Van Horn. She was a 1936 graduate of Troy High School
and continued her education at Mansfield State Teachers' College and the
University of Pittsburgh. Christine married Lester Dunbar on Dec. 24, 1939
in Mainesburg. They were blessed with five children and 61 years together.
In addition to caring for her family and home, in earlier years Christine
was a schoolteacher. She worked for many years as a social worker with
the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare until retiring in 1982. Christine
was a member of the East Troy Baptist Church where she served as a youth
counselor. She enjoyed reading, quilting and gardening. Surviving
are four children; Mary Jean (Ronald) Ayres and Clark (Janet) Dunbar all
of Troy, Donna (Gary) Smith of Philippi, W. Virg., and Lynell (John) Anderson
of Canton, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren;
four sisters; Janice Wrisley of West Burlington Twp., Anna Mary Hulslander
of East Smithfield Twp., Jean Randall of Troy and Marcia (Henry) Martin
of Granville Summit. In addition to her husband Lester, who died
on August 27, 2001, Mrs. Dunbar was predeceased by a son, Layton Dunbar
in 1957 and two grandchildren; Lora Kay Ayres in 1960 and Layton Matthew
Dunbar in 1998. A memorial service and celebration of Christine's life
will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at East Troy Baptist Church with
Rev. Garry Zuber officiating. Interment will be in the Dunbar Family Cemetery
at a later date. The family will provide flowers and suggest those who
wish may make a donation in Christine's memory to a charity of one's choice.

Janice E. Nolan, 69, formerly of Elmira, died
at her home and
went to be with her Lord on August 25, 2010 after a courageous battle with
appendiceal cancer. Jan was the daughter of Harry and Ruth Weiland of Elmira.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John; and daughters, Christina
(Larry) Krebs of Marathon with daughters Brittney and Emily, and Lori (Jeff)
Balmer of Pine City with daughters Stephanie and Allison; two brothers,
Raymond (Barbara) Weiland of Lowman and Bruce Weiland of Horseheads; and
two nieces, Shelly Weiland and Michelle Hunt; along with loyal dog, Pasta,
who never left her side during her illness. She was predeceased by nephew,
Scott Weiland. Jan was retired from the US Postal Service. In her leisure
time, she was an avid hiker and fitness walker. She loved to travel. She
was a true friend to many, especially John, and her presence will be missed
by friends and family alike. There will be a memorial service 3 p.m. Sunday,
August 29, 2010, at Socastee United Methodist Church to honor Jan's life
and to meet her family. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

home Sunday, August 22, 2010. Martyn was born September 24, 1925 in Elmira,
NY, a daughter to the late Martin and Ella (Fitzgerald) Whitford. She was
predeceased by her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, Lester Reimsnyder
Jr. on Sunday, October 23, 2005. She is survived by their sons and daughter,
Robert (Patricia) Reimsnyder of Horseheads, NY, Nancy Kosalek of Horseheads
NY and Lester III (Marianne) Reimsnyder of Beaver Dams, NY; son-in-law,
Joseph Kosalek of Erin, NY; special grandchildren, Todd Kosalek of Ft.
Lauderdale, FL, Katherine (Nathan) Romeo of Horseheads, NY, Sara (Corey)
Rynders of Crozet, VA and Lester IV (Min) Reimsnyder of Corning, NY; great-grandchildren,
Hunter and Connor Romeo, Marvin and Alyssa Reimsnyder. Martyn was a communicant
of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads and a devoted wife, mother,
grandmother and great grandmother who always enjoyed time spent with family
and friends. Martyn and her husband Les were founders of Rimco Plastics
on Colonial Drive in Horseheads which today is still owned and operated
by their family and stands as a lasting tribute to their vision and work.
Services with the Barber Funeral Home in Horseheads took take place privately
