Robert "Bob" William Eolin, Jr., age 67, of Town of Corning, died on
May 17, 2010 at his Caton Road home after a year long battle with brain
cancer. Bob was born February 26, 1943 in Providence, RI, the son of the
late Robert W. and Evelyn (Eccles) Eolin. He married Dolores (Dee) Adamczyk
on September 21, 1968 in Sea Isle City, NJ. Bob graduated from Northside
High School, Corning, in 1961. He received an A.A. Degree from Corning
Community College in 1963, a B.S. Degree in Radio/Television/Film from
Ithaca College in 1965, and an M.A. in Film/Advertising from the University
of Michigan in 1967. From 1967 to 1969 he participated in the Triangle
Broadcasting Management Training Program in Philadelphia. He worked at
WNBF-TV/WBNG-TV in Binghamton, NY from 1969 to 1980, starting as a news
photographer, then setting up a commercial photography division. He moved
up to Promotion Manager and then Program Manager before moving to a sister
station, WLYH-TV in Lancaster/Lebanon, PA as VP and General Manager. In
1990, Bob left television and formed Eolin Broadcasting, Inc., buying WCBA-AM-FM
in Corning, where he had worked as an announcer in 1965. Along with his
wife, Dee, and business partner, Jack Shane, Bob added WCLI-AM, WGMM-FM,
and WENY-AM-FM to Eolin Broadcasting and the group became known as The
Radio Works. In Binghamton, Bob taught "Principles of Cinematography" at
the Roberson Center for the Arts and Sciences and "History of Mass Media"
at SUNY Binghamton. In 1972 he won a NY State Broadcasters Award for Outstanding
Local Commercial Production, a CLIO recognition award, and several Addy
Awards. While working for WLYH-TV, Bob was a member of the Pennsylvania
Association of Broadcasters, becoming Chairman in 1988. He was President
of the Lancaster Advertising Club, 1985-88, and was chairman of the Cameron
Awards, 1986-88. He was also a member of the National Association of Broadcasters

Amendment Coalition and the PA Association of Broadcasters and Penn State
University School of Communications Liaison Committee. In 1988 he won the
PA Association of Broadcasters Golden Keystone Award for Editorial Excellence.
He was also a life member of the Broadcast Pioneers. Bob was Operations
Director for the Lebanon Valley (PA) Chamber of Commerce, a member of the
Board of Directors of Lebanon General Hospital, and served on the Long
Range Planning Committee for the Warwick School District in Lititz, PA.
He was a member of the Lebanon Kiwanis Club and served as president in
1986-87. He was on the Board of Directors of the Corning Chapter of the
American Red Cross, a member of Corning Rotary, and a member of the Town
of Corning Planning Board, serving as its chairman from 2008 until his
illness caused him to resign. He was also a mediator for the Community
Dispute Resolution Center in Elmira. Bob was well known in the community
as co-host of "Breakfast with Jack & Bob" from June 1990 to July 2002;
after the death of Jack Shane the show became "Breakfast with Dee &
Bob." The show aired originally on WCBA-AM-FM and eventually on WCBA-FM
and WENY-FM. Bob was responsible for making "The Wheel of Meat" and other
slightly wacky, but always fun-filled radio games, a big part of the morning
radio program. While well known for his humor, Bob was equally at ease
talking finance, medicine, politics and other serious topics within the
radio programs. Bob and his wife sold The Radio Works in December 2003
and Bob formed Black Bear Studios, Inc. He produced and directed the documentary
"Echo Taps: The Long Brass Line" which won a Silver Telly Award in 2008.
He also filmed TV commercials for local businesses and was hoping to shoot
a short comedy film when his illness cut short his plans. During the Christmas
seasons from 2004 through 2008, Bob portrayed Kris Kringle in Centerway

TREAGER - On the morning of Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, well-known
Canton resident Bess Jeffrey (Treager) Clarke died
quietly at Bradford
County Manor. She was 91 years of age. Born Feb. 8, 1919 in Greensburg,
Pa., she was the daughter of WIlliam L. and Edna (Jeffrey) Treager. After
graduating high school Bess enrolled in Penn State, following in the footsteps
of her father. She graduated with the class of 1940, having earned a bachelor's
of science degree in home economics. After college Bess worked for a while
as a home demonstration agent for the Department of Agriculture Extension
Office in Martinsburg, W. Va. It was during her years at Penn State that
she met the love of her life, W. William Clarke, and the two were wed on
Nov. 23, 1941. When Bill entered active military service during World War
II Bess did her part for the war effort by working at the Westinghouse
plant in Pittsburgh. After the war, Bill and Bess settled in State College
where they raised a son and a daughter. Bill worked as a bee keeping specialist
with Penn State's extension service. In addition to tending to her family,
Bess kept busy as a 4-H leader, assisted her husband with bee keeping,
published a bee keeping newsletter, raised beagles and dachshunds, founded
the local antique show and kept busy with many other activities. After
her husband's retirement in 1974 the Clarkes moved to Canton. Immediately,
Bill and Bess immersed themselves in good works in their new community,
continuing their bee keeping and honey production as well. She also found
time to serve as a reporter for the Elmira Star Gazette. Bess was the quintessential
volunteer. Among her many accomplishments were the establishment of the
Canton Shade Tree Commission and the Pennsylvania Apple 'n Cheese Festival,
where she and Bill made apple butter over an open fire, a tradition that
continues to this day. Just like her honey bees, Bess was always happiest
when she was working for the greater good of her community. In the late
1980s the Clarkes carried their good will and good works to many third
world countries when they embarked on a series of assignments for Volunteer
Overseas Cooperative Assistance and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
They taught their bee keeping skills to the remote people of Bolivia, Tunisia,
Slovakia, Egypt and Gambia. One Gambian couple was so inspired by Bess
that they named their new born daughter after her. In her spare time Bess
enjoyed swimming, hiking, cross country skiing, cooking, sewing, reading
and photography. She also cherished her quiet times of respite at her family's
cottage at Big Pond, where she could commune with nature and rejuvenate
her spirit. Bess was a woman of immense faith whose life was firmly anchored
to her Lord Jesus, the Rock of her salvation. She was a member of the Canton
Ecumenical Parish, where she taught the IHS Adult Sunday School Class for
many years. After her husband's passing in 2000, Bess soldiered forth,
continuing to serve where needed, until her health began to decline. However,
she remained as active and in touch with her family and friends as possible.
She kept up on current events, read the latest books and communicated by
e-mail. Bess was a true and loyal friend who always sought the good in
everyone, and all whose lives she touched are richer for having known her.
Bess is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Peggy) Clarke of Canton; daughter,
Jane (Jerry) Wettstone and sister Anne (Paul) Bender, all of State College;
grandchildren, Cindy Clarke (and Fiance David DeFrancisco) of Anandale,
Va., Janine (Hugh) McPherson of New Park, Pa., Jonathan (Felicia) Wettstone
of Danvers, Mass.; great-grandchildren Annie and Ian McPherson and Camryn
and Cate Wettstone; three special nieces, Meg, Jennifer and Betsy. In addition
to her husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by her brother, William
L. Treager Jr. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, at
the Canton Ecumenical Parish. A celebration of her life will follow at
2 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Schmidt officiating. Memorial contributions may
be directed to Canton Ecumenical Parish Memorial Fund, 43 N. Center St.,
Canton, or the Bradford County Library, West Burlington, PA 16947. Professional
