ATWOOD - Organist at the Waverly United Methodist Church for many years - Louesa M. Taylor, 91, of Waverly, N.Y. died
on Friday March 5, 2010 at the Robert Packer Hospital Sayre, Pa. Louesa was born on May 1, 1918 in Waverly, the daughter of the late George and Ethel Genung Atwood. Louesa resided in Waverly at her family’s home all of her life. She enjoyed playing the piano and was the organist for many years at the Waverly United Methodist Church. Many area families will remember Louesa as a babysitter. Louesa is predeceased by her loving husband Ralph, and twin sister Elizabeth Triumpho. Louesa will be missed by many friends and neighbors including Susan Bennett of Sayre, Pa., Susan Cook of Gray Court, S.C., Teresa Fravel, Dawn Farrell, Kent Tappan of Waverly, and Dr. Robert Cameron of Wyckoff, N.J. A memorial service to celebrate Louesa’s life will be held on Friday March 12, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Waverly United Methodist Church. Pastor Anne Bey Canfield will officiate. Honoring Louesa’s wishes there will be no calling hours. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Glenwood Cemetery, Waverly. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials in Louesa’s name be made to: Waverly Free Library Elizabeth St., Waverly, N.Y. 14892. BANKS - Mrs. Eva B. Brewer, age 86, of 10 Cranberry Lane, Sayre, Pa., died
at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Memorial Hospital in Towanda, Pa., on Friday evening, March 19, 2010.  She was born in Oswayo, Pa., on Feb. 9, 1924, the daughter of the late Charles and Emily Phillips Banks. Mrs. Brewer was the wife of the late George F. Brewer, who died
on Jan. 28, 1999. Mrs. Brewer was a graduate of the Shinglehouse High School. After her marriage to her husband George, she was a housewife and homemaker for her husband and their family. While living in Sayre, she was a member of the WPS Club of Sayre, Pa. Surviving are her daughters and their husbands, Lela and Larry Strittmatter, of Centreville, Md., and Louise and Tom Jense, of Provo, Utah; her sons, Glenn F. Brewer, of Tunkhannock, Pa. and Harold F. (Astrid Kelley) Brewer, of Meshoppen, Pa.; her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Marie Sands, of Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Mary Thomas of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Brock Brewer; and a sister, Pauline Slaughter. Funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 23 at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Meshoppen, Pa., with Pastor Linda Rogers officiating. Interment will be in the Jersey Hill Cemetery in Meshoppen, Pa. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. BARBER - EISNER, Mrs. Velma J.
Age 87, died
and her husband, George, on Friday, February 5, 2010, at United Memorial Medical Center after a short illness. She was born July 7, 1922 in Wolcott, NY. She raised her family in Millerton, PA before moving to Batavia in 1988. She was employed at Eclipse/Bendix Corporation in Elmira Heights, NY for 30 years. After her retirement, she enjoyed participating in activities at the Millerton Wesleyan Church. From 1988 to 2002, she wintered in Phoenix with her snowbird friends. She also enjoyed being a member of the Batavia Scarlett O'Hatters. She is survived by her 4 children, Jim (Anne) Lafaette of Ohio, George Eisner, Jr. of CA, Sharon (Dominic) Cavalieri of Batavia, and Kathy Snyder (Bill Dietrick) of PA; her grandchildren, David, Sharon, Bradley and Sherri; her great-grandchildren, Brandon, Rachel, Christina and Isabella; her great-great-grandchildren, Haley Jo and Grace; her niece, Dianna and nephews, Richard and Melvin. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1975; her brother, Ken Barber; sisters, Virginia Render and Betty Combs; and grandson, Jamie Lafaette. Sunday, February 07, 2010, at Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls. Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at the Haughey-Wood Funeral Home, 119 Fifth St., Watkins Glen. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 905 Decatur St., Watkins Glen. Polly was born on April 5, 1914 in Watkins Glen, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Kathleen Barile. She was a member and past president of St. Theresa's Society and a parishioner of St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church. She was employed with International Salt Co. in Watkins Glen. Polly is survived by her children, Justine A. Serefine of Fresno, CA, Alice M. Sanchez of Patterson, NJ, Julia F. (Emmitt) Metcalf of Okay, OK, Sally L. Serefine of Watkins Glen, NY, Peter A. (Sandy) Serefine of Elmira, NY, and Paul J. (Christine) Serefine of Brighton, MI; 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia DeDominick of Watkins Glen, NY and Barbara (James) Spena of Watkins Glen, NY; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Angelo J. BENNETT - Rebecca A. Miller, 59, of 102 N. Higgins Ave., Sayre, Pa. died
on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pa. Rebecca was born on May 19, 1950 in Towanda Pa. the daughter of Limmie and Paula Struppler Bennett. Rebecca enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her family was her life. She was a member of the Church of the Epiphany. Rebecca is survived by her sons Duane and daughter-in-law Anna Struppler, Otto and Joe Miller; Brother Ardell Culver; grandchildren: Alisha Struppler, Dalton Miller, Dylan Miller, Mariah Miller, Katrina Miller, Joey Wright, Kayla Miller, Emily Miller, Matt Miller, Mike Miller, Brayden Miller, and Trenton Miller; nephews Adam Culver and Ethan Culver; nieces Mary Carol and Heather Culver. Uncle Joseph "Bill" Struppler. Best friends; Leona DeSisti and Robin Travis. Rebecca is predeceased by her mother Paula Dunn and grandson Duane Struppler. BENNETT - She possessed great love for her family, and enjoyed reading and crocheting - Rosemary Jean Bennett Wittig, 56, wife of Richard J. Wittig of 1260 Mt. Pleasant Road, Nichols, N.Y., died
Wednesday morning, Feb. 3, 2010 at her home following declining health. Rosemary was born in Waverly, N.Y., on Feb. 11, 1953 the daughter of the late Ronald and Betty Rowe Bennett. She attended Tioga Center High School, Tioga Center, N.Y., and was a graduate of Watkins Glen High School, Watkins Glen, N.Y., then continued her education at BOCES in Elmira, N.Y., where she received her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Rosemary was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse first at the Vestal Nursing Center in Vestal, N.Y., and later by the Willow Point Nursing Home in Binghamton, N.Y., until declining health no longer permitted her to continue. Rosemary possessed great love for her family, and enjoyed reading and crocheting. She is survived by her husband, Richard J. Wittig, at home, whom she married in April of 1982; her children, Tina Rappely and her husband Randy of Burdett, N.Y., Rebecca Jean Wittig of Bentley Creek, Pa., April Lynn Wittig and her fiancé, Ed Brewer of Towanda, Pa., Amanda Wittig of Nichols, N.Y., Richard Wittig Jr. of Chemung, N.Y., James Richard Wittig and his wife, Shannon of Barton, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren, Josh, Jessie, Jordan, Michael, Breanna, Aaron, Jacob, McKenzie, Hunter, Keegan Wayne, Rebecca, Nick, and Ali; her sister, Debra Brownlee and her husband, Gary of Waverly, N.Y.; her brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Shirley Bennett of Windham, Pa.; brothers-in-law, Carson Hines of Athens, Pa., Robert Wittig of California, Russ Wittig of Waverly, N.Y., George Wittig of Horseheads, N.Y.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Albert and Jan Wittig of Bellflower, Calif., Don and Joyce Wittig of Downey, Calif., Chuck and Roxie Wittig of Simi Valley, Calif., Ira and Loretta Wittig of Jenningsville, Pa.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Fran and Dennis Wargnier of Simi Valley, Calif., JoAnne and Thomas Hardwick of Lynden, Wash.; father-in-law, George Wittig, of Waverly, N.Y.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. BOND - Kenneth E. Bond, 67, a resident of Wyalusing, and formerly of Greene, N.Y. and Madisonville, died Friday [March 19, 2010] morning, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pa. His wife of 30 years is the former Cheryl Haluska. Born in Massachusetts, he was the son of Ernestine (Smith) Bond of Anaheim, Calif., and the late Dwight Bond. Educated in Harpursville High School, New York, he was employed as a truck driver by Oneida Motor Freight in New Jersey; Reisch in Hop Bottom; Consolidated Freightways, in Mount Pocono and Carlisle; Atkinson Freight Lines in Bensalem; Yellow Freight in Middletown, N.Y.; and Calex, Pittston, from where he retired. He was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 707. He attended St. Catherine of Siena Church in Moscow, and St. Mary's of the Assumption Church in Wyalusing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother who was a great man and a good provider. He was a dependable worker who told the truth for your own good. He was strong in his ways and was always there for his family and friends. He enjoyed taking road trips with his family and especially looked forward to the family gatherings. He will always be remembered and deeply missed by those whose lives he touched. Surviving are: five daughters, Christy Laird, and husband John of Clarks Summit, Lynnae Bond of West Scranton, Traci Bond and companion Gene Hermanski, of Dunmore, Nannette Yost and husband Bill of Morgan Hill, Calif., Teresa Dries and husband Larry of Pennsburg, Pa.; four sons, Robert E. Bond of Wyalusing, Kenneth E. Fial and wife Lee Ann of Mississippi (Katrina survivors), David Black and wife Patricia of Philadelphia, Kenneth Jay Bond of Lakeland, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Arlene Grace and husband Lloyd of Spartansburg, S.C., Alice Hand and husband Mike of Anaheim, Calif.; a brother, David Bond and wife Linda of Kennedy, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Brown) Bond, two daughters, Constance and Anna Bond, and a son, Frank Bond. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, at the Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Home, 3 First Street, Spring Brook Township, with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Church Street, Moscow, to be celebrated by Rev. BRUBAKER - Kathleen Ann Piccolo, 61, of Johnsonville, N.Y., died Monday morning March 1, 2010, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany following a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on June 17, 1948, in Harrisburg, Pa., she was the daughter of Charles and Marian Hoffman Brubaker. Kathy was the wife of Joseph V. Piccolo whom she married on Sept. 22, 1968. She was a graduate of Elizabethtown College and SUNY Albany. Kathy was a retired public school teacher having taught English at Averill Park High School. Kathy also taught at Jakarta International School, in Jakarta, Indonesia and at the International School of Kuala Lumpur, in Malaysia. Kathy’s most recent position was that of School Improvement Specialist for Regional School Support Center in East Greenbush, N.Y. Kathy most loved spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid traveler, book reader, beekeeper, and lover of all things related to fiber arts. Survivors in addition to her husband Joseph and her mother Marian Wolfe of Harrisburg, Pa., include daughters Julie M.( Rhodri) Piccolo–Evans of Bristol, R.I., Jodi L. (Andrew) Piccolo–Van Sprang of Tiverton, of Rhode Island; and son Joseph K. Piccolo of Watervliet, N.Y.; siblings Joseph D. Brubaker of Harrisburg, Pa. and Marion Rhone of Xenia, Ohio. Kathy is also survived by her beloved grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. CHASE -  Anita B. Williams - Age 81, of Galeton, PA, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at her home. Born July 12, 1928 in Costello, PA, she was a daughter of the late Emery and Ethel (Ward) Chase. Anita was predeceased by two husbands, Eugene Earle and Robert M. Williams; and a companion, Harold "Tom" Devlin. She worked at Galeton Production for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Bibiana's Catholic Church in Galeton and greatly enjoyed baking, camping, and spending special time with her friends and family. Surviving are three sons, Donald (Bonnie) Earle, Nelson, PA, Charles Williams, Germania Station, PA, and Robert (Noreen) Williams, Kepner, TX; four daughters, Anita (Frank) Vittorio, Cogan Station, PA, Darlene (Robert) Perry, Kings Mt., NC, Pamela (Richard Greene) Foster, Galeton, and Jacqueline (Joseph) Steadman, Painted Post, NY; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, husbands, and companion; Anita was predeceased by all ten of her siblings. CILLEY - HYER Denida L.(DeDe)
Age 47, of Alpine, New York, died
on Monday, February 8, 2010, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Her husband, David L. Hyer, survives DeDe, along with her sons and daughters-in-law, Greggory and Bridget and Patrick and Lindsey; grandchildren, Jonathan, MaKennah and EmmaLee; "Grand Puppy", Remy; parents, Charles and Chris Miller; grandparents, Bud and Betty Cilley; brother, Armin and Kelly Miller; brothers-in-law, Jerry and Donna Hyer, Bill and Susie Hyer; and sister-in-law, Donna and Dwight Wilber; among several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dee is predeceased by her sister, Tina Miller; and her father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Esther Hyer. Dee was a former employee of Cornell University, Ithaca, NY and currently worked at Cbord Group, Ithaca, NY. She was very active in the Relay For Life Organization. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY on Saturday, February 13, 2010, between the hours of 1 to 4 p.m. Her Memorial service will be held there following visitation at 4 p.m. The Rev. CLEWELL Thomas S.
Age 80, of Gillette, PA, died Monday, February 1, 2010. Survived by wife, Beverly; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Karen Clewell, Gillett, James and Vickie Clewell, Newburgh, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Lou Mastrella, Walkill, NY; step-son, John (Cheryll) Herrick, Elmira; step-daughter, Paula Kretchmer; sisters, Evelyn Tancin, Whitehall, PA, Harriet and Earl Santee, Palmerton, PA, Ruth Ann Shambo, Whitehall, PA; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by son, Thomas Clewell; brothers, Harold, Walter, Richard Clewell; a sister, Gracie Almond. Thomas was a member and Past President of South Creek Northern Tier Sportsman Club; love to fish and hunt and enjoyed shooting trap. He was a former employee at South Creek Township and retired from the Finger Lakes Engineering. The family will receive relatives & friends at the Kalec Funeral Home, Friday, February 5th from 5 to 8 p.m. with his Funeral Service to follow at 8 p.m. Interment at the convenience of the family.

COE - Sandra A. Reynolds, 63, of Forksville, Pa., (formerly of Athens) died
on January 30, 2010 at Darway Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was born October 18, 1946 in Binghamton, N.Y., to the late Leland and Genevieve Collins Coe. She is predeceased by her husband George Robert Reynolds. She is survived by her children Joseph Patrick (Stacey) Coston of Athens, Pa., Clara Christine (Greg) Fiske of Monticello, N.Y., Michelle Coston of Waverly, N.Y., and Jennifer (Tom) Delp of Towanda, Pa.; grandchildren Roman, Derek, Brandon & Parker Coston of Athens, Pa., Jonathan & Joshua Fiske of Monticello, N.Y., Tiffany & Jacob Coston of Waverly, N.Y., Brianna & Lucas Sibly of Towanda, Pa., Crystal Allen of Towanda, Pa., and Daniel Delp of Towanda, Pa.; twin sister Judy Scheubel of Ontario, Canada; brothers Duane Coe of Sayre, Pa., Mike Coe of Wisconsin, and Skip and Kevin Coe; many sisters and brothers-in-laws; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the New Generation Church, Route 220, Milan, Pa., with the Rev. Doug Abbey officiating. Age 88, of 12118 Silver Creek Dr., Houston, TX (most recently of Big Flats, NY), died January 17, 2010 in Houston, TX. Survivors include her husband, Bim; son, Peter and wife, Charleen (Charley) Van Etten of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Ms. Lois Van Etten of Penn Valley, CA; nephew, Stephen (Sabrina) Van Etten, Grass Valley, CA; niece, Laura (David) Collins, Grass Valley, CA; cousins, Vance (Chris) Likins of Bradenton, FL, and Mrs. Dotty Mullen of W. Bath, ME. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2010, at 11:00 at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street, Corning. COTTON - Kenneth O. Cotton, 84, of Tioga Center, N.Y., died
at home on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010. He was predeceased by his wife, Carol Jane Cotton; his grandson, James Curtis Barnum; and his brothers, Lewis, Charles and Harry Cotton. Ken is survived by his daughter, Melissa Jane Patterson, Owego, N.Y.; his sons and daughters-in-law, Mathew Harvey and Sherri Cotton, Tioga Center, Elliott Kenneth and Kimberly Cotton, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Jennifer and Louis Pratt, Madison Sue Cotton, Tracey Jane Spaulding, Stephan Merrill, Michelle Barnum, Timothy Barnum, Kimberly Bishop, Elliott Kenneth Catlett, Malachi Alexander Cotton; his many great grandchildren; his brothers and sister-in-law, Howard Cotton, Paul and Patricia Cotton; and several nieces and nephews. Ken was born in Spencer, N.Y. on Sept. 21, 1925, the son of the late Charles and Ella (Leonard) Cotton. He was a mill foreman for Ward & VanScoy in Owego for many years. He always took pride in his vegetable garden, and enjoyed sharing what he produced. Ken was also a Life Member of the Tioga Center Fire Department. A memorial service will be held at Richards Funeral Home, Rte. 17C West, Owego, N.Y. on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Halsey Valley Cemetery. She was very devoted to her entire family and was very proud of her husband, children and grandchildren. after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at the age of 54. Teresa was born June 21, 1955, daughter of Louis and Doris Yost Galek. She worked as a Senior Case Manager for Schuyler County Children's Services until her retirement. She loved music, auctions, and yard sales. Teresa is predeceased by her father, Louis. Age 73, of Tifton, GA, and formerly of Mansfield, PA died Saturday, February 6, 2010, at his residence. GOBLE - Life long resident of Waverly - Nancy J. (Goble) Olmsted of Waverly, N.Y., died
on Feb. 3, 2010 at the Robert Packer Hospital, after an extended illness, with her loving family by her side. Nancy was born in Sayre, Pa. Nov. 30, 1933, the daughter of the late Fay and Dorothy Loop Goble. She was a life-long resident of Waverly with the love of her life, Wes. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1951 and retired from Robert Packer Hospital’s microbiology lab in 1994, after 23 years of service. Nancy loved and enjoyed her family, church and spending time with her many friends. Nancy had most recently devoted much of her heart to the Grace Episcopal Church in Waverly. She is survived by her very devoted and loving husband of 57 years, Wesley J. Olmsted, and children, Joelle (Joseph) Graney of Auburn, N.Y., Steven (Rena) Olmsted of Waverly, Robert Olmsted and Judy Pliner of Chapel Hill, N.C. Nancy is also survived by sisters Barbara (Harry) Hoffman of Longmont, Colo., Beverly Smith of St. Cloud, Fla., Joanne Weiss of Pomona, Calif.; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. GOWAN - Robert “Bob” Gowan, 65, died
on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Ind. He was born in Waverly, N.Y. on May 10, 1944. He was an Army veteran serving in Vietnam and retired from the military after 20 years. He was united in marriage on Oct. 4, 1986 to Brenda Whalen. He worked as Director of Human Resources at Branchville Correctional Facility retiring after 20 years. Bob was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and V.F.W. Post 2939. He was an avid sports fan, particularly baseball and football. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Whalen Gowan, of Tell City; sons, Ronnie and his wife Amy and Brad Gowan, all of Tell City; daughter, Sandy Hobson of Louisville, Kent.; grandchildren, Tosha and Lindsey Gowan, Steven and Andrew Hobson;three step-grandchildren, Derek, Travis and Evan Dalton; five step great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Gowan of Barton, N.Y., Dick Gowan of Glen Allen, Va. and Jack Gowan of Smithboro, N.Y.; sister, Beatrice Horton of Apalachin, N.Y. Celestia was born in Montour Falls, NY on May 22, 1930, the daughter of the late Roswell and Dorothy Green. She first worked full-time from 1950 to 1952 for Dr. Tague and Dr. Norton. She also worked for 34 years for Schuyler County, was the Commissioner of Jurors and was elected the Schuyler County Clerk in November of 1975, taking Office on January 1, 1976. Celestia had also been employed since 1985 as a fire instructor at the NYS Academy of Fire Science. She worked in registration at Watkins Glen International Raceway, was the first secretary of the Watkins Glen Grand Prix and was a part-time clerk at the Gold Mine in Watkins Glen. She was the former secretary for the Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce and a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, A. Keith Thurston on October 7, 1984. Celestia is survived by her sons, Ernie E. (Brenda M.) Thurston of Port Orange, FL, Alan K. (Karen C.) Thurston of Montour Falls, and Kenneth R. (Renee M.)Thurston of Watkins Glen; her daughters, Sheryl C. (Linwood Standish) Thurston of Burdett, Debra L. McDonald of S. Carolina, and Wendy K. (Victor) Scuteri of N. Age 88 of Elmira, died Friday, February 5, 2010 at home. Dick was born in Elmira, a son of the late Jesse B. and Grace Hemenway Guthrie. He was predeceased by his brother Donald Guthrie. Richard is survived by his wife of 63 years, M. Irene Sullivan Guthrie. He is also survived by daughter Donna J. Guthrie of Trumansburg NY with her daughters, Laura B. and Sarah K. Calabrese; daughter and son-in-law, Carol G. and Joseph M. Zimmerman of Fishers NY with their children, Richard A. Grace A. and Irene J. Zimmerman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John J. and Margaret Sullivan of Buffalo, Edward and Betty Sullivan of Elmira, Sally Guthrie of Trumansburg, Jean A. and Charles DesJardins of Wilmington DE; several nieces and nephews; faithful canine companion Cocco. Dick was a US Navy veteran who served as a pilot during World War II. He retired as a salesman for ID Booth with over 30 years of service. Along with his wife Irene and their family, they enjoyed their summer home on Seneca Lake for over 50 years. Dick enjoyed hunting and he was an avid fisherman on Seneca Lake. HAMMOND - Gene Hammond, 68, of Candor, has gone to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at home surrounded by loving family. Gene was predeceased by his parents, Edgar and Dorothy Pass Hammond; and brother, Orrin Hammond. Age 85, of River Road in Lindley, NY, died Friday, February 5, 2010 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Leland was born in Lindley on August 22, 1924, to Harlow and Gertrude (Harrison) Harris. He was a graduate of Northside High School. He married Joyce Hammond on August 26, 1943. He and his wife owned and operated Leland F. Harris Incorporated for over 45 years. He was a member of the Lindley Community Church and had been a Deacon for many years, Chairman of the Lindley Planning Board, a member of the National School Bus Transportation Association (NSBTA), from 1977-1979 had been the President of the School Bus Contractors Association, received the Golden Merit Award from the NSBTA in 1979. Leland was on the Board of Directors of the Commonwealth Bank in Lawrenceville, PA. In 1991 he was the School Bus Contractor of the Year. He was a charter member of the Lindley Presho Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his daughter, Patsy Harris of Lindley; son, Larry (Jean) Harris of Lindley; granddaughters, Holly (Kevin) Piselli of Jamesville, NY and Wendy (Mark) Dupree of Lindley; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Garrett Dupree, and Giovanna Piselli; several nieces, nephews and cousins, many very special friends and neighbors. HARTSHAW - Mrs. Joan R. Bendock, age 75, of RR1 Box 1167, Laceyville, Pa., (Silvara), died
on Monday evening, March 8, 2010, at the Skilled Nursing Unit of the Memorial Hospital in Towanda, Pa., after a short illness. Born in King of Prussia, Pa., on Sept. 6, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Hart Hartshaw. Joan was the wife of the late Edward T. Bendock Sr., who died
on Feb. 25, 1991. Joan and Ed were married for 37 years before his passing. While growing up in Laceyville, Joan was a graduate of the Laceyville High School, class of 1953. For many years, she was employed by the Grange National Bank, working in Laceyville and Lawton. She volunteered many years, for the Red Cross, at the Wyoming County Fair in Meshoppen, Pa., and for many other community events in the Laceyville and surrounding areas. Joan was also a member of the Lawton Senior Citizens, and loved to attend the different activities there. She was a very active member of the Laceyville Alumni Assoc., spending countless hours gathering information for the annual alumni banquet. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, and being with her family and many friends, especially being surrounded by her family at Christmas. Surviving are her son, Edward T. Bendock Jr., of Laceyville, Pa.; and her daughter and her husband, Vicky and David Roth, of Manilius, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Thomas Christman and Kathryn Christman, both of Manilius. She is also survived by three sisters, Jane Shafer of Doylestown, Pa., Betty and her husband Ken Jayne, of Laceyville, Pa., and Doris Newhart, of Binghamton, N.Y.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Roland Hartshaw, Joseph Hartshaw and Robert Hartshaw. HOHORST Edith Harriett - Owned J.F.K. Distribution Company - Edith Harriet (Hohorst) Koehn of Barton, age 74, died
on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 following a period of declining health. Edith was born on May 11, 1935 in Brooklyn, N.Y. a daughter of the late George and Helen (Hashagen)  Hohorst. She graduated from BayRidge High School and earned her histological technologist degree from Eastern School for Physicians Aides, New York, N.Y. On Oct. 6, 1957 she married John F. Koehn, they owned and operated a Carvel store on Long Island, and eventually owned J.F.K. Distribution Company in Barton, N.Y. They raised four children while residing in Freeport, LI, N.Y.  In 1972, the family moved to Barton, N.Y. Edith went back to work as a histo tech initially at Wilson Memorial Hospital for almost a decade before retiring from Cornell University Vet School. Edith was predeceased by her husband, John F. Koehn in 1998 and by her parents George and Helen Hohorst. Surviving are her children and their respective spouses Brenda (Koehn) and Terry Hill of Corning, N.Y., John and Barbara (Palmer) Koehn of Nichols, N.Y., Karla Koehn of Waverly, and Heather (Koehn) and Steven Kotula of Richford, N.Y.  Edith also has three grandchildren; Christina Piechowski of Brooklyn, N.Y.; John Piechowski of Green Bay, Wisc. and Brittany Hill of Corning, N.Y. along with one great grandchild, Chase Piechowski of Milwaukee, Wisc. Edith was very involved in Girl Scouts and was a Girl Scout Leader for over 20 years. She was active in the Tioga Central School PTA and was a volunteer with the Halsey Valley Fire Department. In her spare time she enjoyed family, sewing, canning, gardening and living in on a small farm in Barton. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories was held on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. HUBBARD - Marian G. Hubbard Smith, 94, of the Boothwyn, Pa., section of Upper Chichester, died Jan. 27, 2010, at Naamans Creek Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Ulster, Pa., to George and Anna Kitchen Hubbard where she was reared and educated. She lived in Boothwyn with her son and daughter-in-law for more than 20 years and has been a resident of Naamans Creek Manor since October of 2009. She was a woman who devoted her life to her home and family. She also enjoyed reading and crocheting blankets for her family. Wife of the late Howard L. Smith, she was also predeceased by her son James L. Smith and her brother George Hubbard. HULSLANDER - Edith A. Hulslander, age 87, of Lakeland, Fla., died
on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, from heart failure. She was born on Feb. 5, 1922 in Troy, Pa., the daughter of Alfred A. And Esther (Weed) Hulslander, and moved to Lakeland in 1948 from Philadelphia, Pa. Ms. Hulslander was a missionary from CBM Ministries for 47 years and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Edith is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, George, Alfred W. and John; and by two sisters, Francis Morrell and Adelaide Pierce. Ms. Hulslander will be remembered by her nieces and nephews for her love of Camp Gilead, her love of sports, and her trips north to visit her family. Age 91, of Elmira, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at her home, with her loving family by her side. Mary was born October 14, 1918 in Nicetown, PA, daughter of Anthony and Catherine (Segal) Kowalczyk. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph J. Of Elmira, died
on Thursday, February 4, 2010 while residing at Bethany Manor at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Thelma (West) Kubinski of Elmira, NY; daughters & sons in law, Sharon & John Bacon and Susan & Anthony Mastrantonio and Wendy Kubinski with fiance, Randy Covell; grandsons, Jeremy Bacon, Jeffrey & Alianne Bacon and Matthew Cook also survive John. Granddaughters, Allison (Kevin Fitch) Mastrantonio and Erin & Bob Benoit. Two great grandchildren, Annabella & Johnathan Bacon. Brothers in law: Norman West and Richard (Shirley) West. Sisters in law: Marsha (Dan) Jenkins and Florence (Daniel) Bentley along with several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, Leon & Mary, brother, Leon, sister & brother in law, Mary & Gordon Connelly, father & mother in law, Arthur & Myra West, sister in law, Joyce West, brother in law, Kenneth West and nephew, John Connelly. He was a 40-year employee of American La France as a project engineer, retiring in 1984. His many loves included hiking, biking and cross-country skiing. He was the oldest person at age 74 to finish the Finger Lakes Trail from end to end with special friend Bob Kephart. He was instrumental in laying out the Queen Catherine Marsh Trail and the Montour Falls Historic Loop Trail. A 27-page guide was published in 1995 by the Finger Lakes Trail Conference, Inc. He graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1936. He took an ICS Course through the mail to receive his Engineering Degree. LAWSON - Daniel L. Lawson, 63, of RR 1 Box 150 Ghent Hill, Ulster, Pa. died
Monday, March 8, 2010 after a long illness. Daniel was born on Feb. 18,1947 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Guy V. Lawson and the late Esther M. Lawson of Allen Park, Michigan.  Daniel was a graduate of Melvindale High School (Michigan) class of 1964. He had been employed by Ingersoll Rand Company for over 35 years (Mass., N.J., Pa.) working at four locations. Daniel enjoyed reading, electronics, music, movies and had been a longtime member of the BPOE No. 1296 of Greenfield, Ma. prior to his illness. Daniel is survived by his loving wife Linda L. Lawson for 36 years; two sons Mark Lawson of Mt. Pleasant, Mich. and Matthew (Katrina) Lawson of St. Charles, Mo.; a sister Patricia (Stanley) Bonikowski of Allen Park, Mich.; in-laws Francis Fisher (Father), Norma Fisher (sister), both of Northfield, Mass., Ellen (sister) and Richard Roberts Jr. of Leverett, Mass.; a special friend Matthew Snow of Northfield, Mass.; four grandchildren Benjamin, Hannah, Donelda, and Jaden; 11 neices and nephews. February 7, 2010 at the Troy Community Hospital. He was born August 28, 1914 in Munson, PA, the son of Henry and Rose Ziemer Litke. Gust was a retired dairy herdsman, and was employed by Handy and Harman. He was a member of the Forest Baptist Church, Morrisdale, PA. Gust is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Flack and Tom Hill of Mansfield, PA, Nancy and David Mitchell of Corry, PA; a son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Rose Litke of Newbern, NC; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. MACKEY - A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, Melvin E. Mackey, 76, died
on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, after an extended illness at home. A native of Franklin, N.Y., Melvin served in the Army, graduated from Hartwick College, and taught music for 33 years at Tioga Central Schools in Upstate New York. During his career there, he led a successful string & harp program and later added elementary vocal music. He was involved with the Boy Scouts and Little League baseball for many years; was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Waverly, N.Y. Throughout the years, Melvin enjoyed playing violin for many weddings, church services and community events in New York and Florida. He is survived by his wife, Helene Scheifele Mackey; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Denise, Tim and Paula, and Ben and Kim; two grandchildren, Amanda and Kevin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Audrey & Richard Strangeway and Phyllis and James Jennings; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the Homestead Nursing Home in Penn Yan, NY. Helen was born in Nanticoke, PA, the daughter of the late Andrew and Julia Gorka Maczuga. She was a retiree of Westinghouse. She will be remembered by both relatives and friends for her artistic and creative afghans that she crafted for them. In addition to her parents, she was preceded her in death by her husband, Andrew L. Radzavicz; her brothers, Frances, Louis, Joseph, Charles, and Raymond Maczuga; and her sisters, Julia Swatek and Amelia Maczuga. 79 years, of 4 South Corning Road, died February 5, 2010 at his home. He was born August 7, 1930 in Macedon, NY the son of the late John Joseph and Florence Sarah Pardee Mahnke. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Harry and Hertha Chapin were married June 26, 1952 in Mansfield, PA. Hertha predeceased him May 2, 2009. Helen was born in Watkins Glen, NY on May 17, 1932, the daughter of the late John and Nellie Marcellino. She was a member of the Watkins Glen High School graduating Class of 1950. Helen was employed as a telephone operator for AT&T, the Glen-Baxter Dairy, and as a library clerk for Watkins Glen Central School. She was a past member of the Watkins Glen Elk's, St. Mary's Guild, and a parishioner of St. Mary's of the Lake Church in which she was very actively involved. She had volunteered for many area organizations including Schuyler Hospitals Auxiliary, the Chamber of Commerce, the Schuyler County Veteran's Service Agency. She was a member of the Watkins Glen High School Alumni and a key organizer for the Class of 1950. She was well known for her Jello Cakes, pasta fagioli, and her anisette cookies. Helen was a very loving and proud mother and grandmother and was very active in her grandchildren's activities and lives. With all of her love and kindness, Helen, was a mother and grandmother to many of her families friends and extended relatives. Helen is survived by her children, Charles Human Jr., Patty (Jeff) Meehan both of Watkins and Brenda (John) Leu of NC; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Charles, Marissa Kari, and Katherine Amanda Meehan; her brother, Rocco Marcellino of Watkins Glen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband, Charles L. Human Sr; her brothers, Joseph and John Marcellino; her sister, Rose Huber; and sisters-in-law, Teddie Marcellino and Lucille Marcellino.

Age 82 of Elmira, NY. She was born August 23, 1927 in Candor, NY, daughter of the late Howard and Josephine (Penning) Marsh and went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her dear friends, neighbors and caregivers Linda and Eric Doty. Dorcas was an insurance agent in Elmira for many years. Private services were held. MAURER - Helen E. Rider, 81, of Athens, Pa. died
Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at home. She was born Feb. 15, 1928 in East Cameron Twp. the daughter of the late Ira and Lollie Tobias Maurer. Helen retired from American LaFrance after 25 years of service. She was a volunteer in the Coal Twp. and Ulster Mather Memorial Libraries. Helen enjoyed crocheting, knitting, bingo, and reading. She is predeceased by two sisters, and two brothers. NORTH - Mary (North) Vollmer, 99, of Saint Mary's Manor, Lansdale Pa., formerly of Rydal, Pa., died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at Saint Mary's Manor. She was born in Wilmot Township, Bradford County, Pa., on April 23, 1910. She was the daughter of the late Dennis and Blanche O'Neill North. She moved to Dushore, Pa., at an early age and graduated from Saint Basil's High School in 1928. She graduated from nursing school at the hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 1932, were she was employed for several years. She later moved to Abington, Pa., where she continued her nursing career. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl S Vollmer; two brothers, Paul B. North of Dushore and John North of Abington; and four sisters, Catherine North of Abington, Veronica McDonald of Dushore, Sister Rose Alice C.S.J, and twin Sister Rose Anita C.S.J. of Buffalo, N.Y. She is survived by two stepchildren: Earl (Sue) Vollmer Jr. of Rydal, Pa., and Valerie (Barney) Berlinger of Carversville, Pa.; along with six step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mary was a former member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, in Abington, Pa., and was currently of member of Saint Mary's Manor Chapel in Lansdale. Age 96, of Galeton, PA, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, PA. Born February 6, 1914, in Factorytown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Vandalin (Ellis) Osborne. Bernice was predeceased by two husbands, Max Conable and Marvin Snyder, and a special companion, Robert Sinton. She worked at Galeton Production for over 33 years. She was a member of the Pine Creek Valley United Methodist Church in Gaines, a founding member and former President of the VFW Women's Auxiliary #6611 in Galeton, and a founding member of the Women of the Moose in Galeton. Bernice's greatest joys in life were animals, artwork, paintings, feeding deer, and fishing. Surviving is a half brother, Allen Benjamin of Seal, AL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, husbands, and companion; Bernice was predeceased by her step-father, Howard Benjamin; her sisters, Nellie Allen and Alice Douglas; and a half-sister, Cora Smith. OTT - He was extremely mechanical, and could fix anything he tried.  Walter L. Ott, 69, of Waverly, N.Y. and formerly of Owego, N.Y. died
at home on Wednesday evening, Feb. 10, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Ott; his two daughters and son-in-law, Trina and Nick Smith, Huntersville, N.C., Angela Ott, Barneveld, N.Y.; his mother, Julia (Ott) Barrett; his sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and James Nichols, Binghamton, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Ott; his sister, Marlene Covey; and his step-father, Marshall Barrett. Walter was born on Sept. 24, 1940, in Sayre, Pa. He retired from IBM and Lockheed Martin in Owego after over 30 years of service. Walt always enjoyed camping trips with his family at Cayuga Lake and later with his motor home all around New York and Pennsylvania. He was extremely mechanical, and could fix anything he tried. He used this gift in restoring antique automobiles, and his love of rebuilding player pianos. She was adopted on May 20, 1925, by her aunt, Elizabeth (Janowsky) and her husband, John Peck, and renamed Joyce Lorraine Peck. She married John J. Riley on June 26, 1943, and settled in Troy. Her family was her life, and for many years she enjoyed hosting family gatherings at her summer home on Indian River Bay in Delaware. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn Del Negro and her husband, Anthony, Middlebury, with whom she made her home; sister, Betsy Storrs; grandsons, Christopher Del Negro and his wife, Heather, Williamsburg, VA, Andrew Del Negro and his wife, Karla, Middlebury and Shawn Riley and his wife, Chrissie, Brookhaven, PA; six great-grandchildren, Sage, Jacob and Owen Del Negro, Gaius Del Negro and Allison and Caitlin Riley; two nieces and two nephews. She is predeceased by her son, Tom Riley, two sisters, one brother and a niece. A celebration of Joyce's life was held May 19, at Maiorano Funeral Home, Waterbury. He is survived by his daughter, Teresea Renshaw (R. RAUPERS - Alyce Raupers Bluett, 87, died
on Tuesday Feb.2, 2010 in Tijeras, New Mexico, following a short illness. Alyce was the youngest of seven children born to the late Peter and Dora (Kimball) Raupers. Alyce is survived by her husband James Bbluett and son Marc Bluett and family, both of whom also reside in Tijeras. Alyce was a graduate of Athens High School. Following graduation she worked as a nurses aid at the Robert Packer Hospitol, a riviter at the Brooklyn Naval Yards (during WWII) and at Salmina in New Mexico. She had resided in New Mexico for over 40 years but she always considered “the Valley” home. She was an accomplished painter and animal lover, especially her many dogs and cats. Alyce was predeceased by her parents, Dora and Peter; her twin brother Albert (Mary Lou) , Charles (Margaret), John (Mary), Paul (Elizabeth) and sisters Maria Brinkley Anderson (Kenneth), Anna Worden (Kenneth); she is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. RILEY Troy Anthony II - During the early morning hours of May 11, 2010, Troy Anthony Riley II, 21, of Williamsport died
suddenly as result of a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 180. Born in Philadelphia on February 7, 1989, he was the son of Troy A. and Denise (Lopez) Riley. About ten years ago his family moved to Williamsport. Blessed with a keen sense of humor and an outgoing personality, young Troy quickly made new friends. In time he embraced the Islamic faith and was an active member of the Muslim community in Williamsport. However, that never prevented him from having close friends of all faiths. He always strove to live by the creed, "There is no god but God." He is survived by his parents and two sisters, as well as a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. His Janaaza (funeral prayer service) was conducted Friday, May 14 at the Williamsport Islamic Center on West Memorial Avenue, with Imam Abdul leading the prayers. ROBBINS - Norman S. Robbins, 63, of Raymond, N.H. died Jan. 24, 2010 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack. He was born in Waverly, N.Y. on April 29, 1946 the son of the late Charles S. and Mildred (Depew) Robbins. He attended Waverly High School in Waverly and graduated with the class of 1964. In 1994 he graduated from Hesser College. He was a resident of Raymond for 40 years. Norman enlisted in the US Navy in 1964, serving 6 years active duty aboard destroyers. He worked for Raytheon Marine and Sorensen in Manchester, NH for 25 years and Raytheon MSD in Andover, Mass. for 7 years, retiring after 32 years in 2004. Norman enjoyed camping, traveling, wintering in Brooksville, Florida and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of more than 41 years, who he married on Sept. 9, 1968 at Morrill Baptist Church, Morrill, Maine, Arlene L. (Morse) Robbins of Raymond; three brothers, Arthur, Franklin and William Robbins; four sisters, Patricia Sulger-Phelan, Charolette Petty, Ida Shipman and Shirley Howard and several nieces and nephews. In his life: Norman will also be missed by his mother in-law, Pauline L. (Warman) Thomas of Belfast, Maine; sisters in-law, Cheryl Perry, Shelia Fuller, Kathy Morin, Sharon Lee, Cindy Shaw, Dolores Davis and their families and special friends, Lorn Munson and Art Decker. ROWE - She always led by example and inspired those around her to always be their best. Susanne Louise Wolfe, 62, of Sayre has been guided gently home to the arms of our Lord. She died
at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Feb. 10. Susanne was born on Oct. 29, 1947 in Dauphin County, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Celia Bingaman Rowe. Susanne was passionate about life and especially her family. She always led by example and inspired those around her to always be their best. Susanne dedicated her life to helping people and had a special passion for helping any child in need. She was a dedicated teacher who was loved, honored and respected by her students and peers. Throughout her thirty plus year career in the Athens Area School District she touched countless lives. Her life revolved around her family. She also enjoyed playing tennis, kickboxing, aerobics, horseback riding, hiking, and camping. She was also well known for the 10,000 plus Christmas cookies she made and gave away as gifts every year. Susanne is the strength of her family and is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Wolfe; three children Robert Wolfe, Alison Coyle, Krista Satterly; and eight grandchildren, Cassi Coyle, Nicholas Coyle, Jessica Truesdail, Anthony DeCoro, Angel DeCoro, Lauren Wolfe, Chase Satterly, and Keegan Satterly; brother Raymond Rowe of Douglasville, Pa. Susanne was predeceased by her grandson, Anthony Wakefield. Those who knew Susanne were blessed by her grace. She will be greatly missed by all. Of Cayutaville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 8, 2010, at the age of 83. Born on October 5, 1926 in Hector, Bob was the son of the late Oscar and Margaret (Strong) Soule. He was a member of the American Legion Post #676 and many other organizations. Bob attended the Cayutaville Church. Bob loved his family unconditionally and cherished every moment he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Rob; and three sisters and four brothers. Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Soule; two children, Lori (Kevin) Snow of Cayutaville and Chris (Tracy) Soule of Ithaca; six grandchildren, Jeremiah (Theresa) Snow, Heather (Mark) Hall, Rachel Snow, and David, Justin, and Michael Soule; four great-grandchildren, Sean and Abigail Snow, and Ryan and Nathan Hall; and many nieces and nephews. on February 7, 2010 at Ellenville Regional Hospital after a battle with cancer. She was 70 years old. She was born in Elmira, NY on January 14, 1940 and moved to the Ellenville area in 1965. She was the daughter of the late Everett Stansfield (Rochester, NY) and Evelyn Robinson Hogan Stansfield (Elmira, NY.) Patti was a faithful member of the Church of St. Mary and St. Andrew in Ellenville and had attended the Ellenville United Methodist Church for a time. She worked at the Eastern Correctional Facility for 23 years and had been most recently employed at the Ulster Federal Credit Union's Ellenville Office. She is survived by her children, Michael Giammichele, Theresa Hyatt, Mark Giammichele and his wife, Sherry and Anthony "A.J." Giammichele and his wife, Joy; her grandchildren, Nicholas, Vincent, Lindsay and her husband, John, Andrew and Tyler Hyatt, Robert, Madeleine, Steven and Joseph; her great-grandchildren, Calib, Gabriella and Arryannah; her brother; Mike Stansfield and his wife Judy; her sisters, Alyce "Bunny" Gaskin and MaryAnn Weaver; nieces and nephews, Cindy, Ben, Heather and Gertie Stansfield, Laurie, Tracy and Mitchell Gaskin and Scott Weaver. Patti loved life, especially her children and special friends. She enjoyed reading and spent many hours browsing at the Ellenville Library. Her favorite saying was: "I shall pass this way but once, Any good, therefore, I can do for my fellow man – Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again" by Etienne deGrallet. TERESKE - Agnes C. Pollock, 86 years, of Raritan Township, New Jersey, died on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Center, N.J. Born in Elmer Township, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Coyas Tereske. She had formerly resided in Sergeantsville, N.J., Arnot and Levittown. Agnes was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed needlework, reading, watching classic movies, and the company of her two beloved pets, April and Jackie. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Robert W. Pollock, Sr. and her son, Edward J. , Wednesday March 3, 2010 at the Elderwood Nursing Facility in Waverly, N.Y.  Thelma was born Sept. 28, 1926 in Waverly, the daughter of the Late Flora Atchinson Thompson and Harry A. Thompson and wife of the late Walter A. Mitchell who died
in 1987. Thelma was also predeceased by her sister Virginia Thompson and her special friend Donald Loveland who died
in 2005. Thelma was a lifelong resident of the Valley. She attended North Waverly Chapel. Thelma worked on product assembly for Westinghouse. She was “The Greatest Mom That Ever Walked”. Surviving Thelma are her son and daughter Ronald A. Mitchell, of Sayre, Pa. and Audrey (Ronald) Searfoss, of Waverly, N.Y. Six grandchildren survive Thelma Wendy, Susan, Robin, Charles, Tammy and KathiJo. He is survived by wife Linda Webster, sisters: Magda (Dake) Clark of Kerrville, TX; Jean (Garl) Zimmerman of New Port Richey, FL and brother Martin O. Webster. WHITE - Our beloved mother, Stella Wolfe, has completed her life’s journey and joined her loving husband, Harlen Sr. in eternal rest on Jan. 29, 2010.  She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years; her only son, Harlen Jr.; grandsons William Darly Donlin, Timothy Wolfe; parents and several siblings. on Sunday February 7, 2010 at Bethany Manor. Mary Lou was born June 6, 1920 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Lewis J. Wilkins and Anna D. Shea Wilkins. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Elmira College and was a member of The American Association of University Women. Mary Lou married her husband, James C. Schiefen, on August 2, 1947 and they would have celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary on August 2, 2010. Mrs. Schiefen was a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horsheads, NY. She enjoyed gardening and everything Mother Nature had to offer. Mrs. Schiefen is survived by her loving and devoted husband James C. WILLIAMS - Frank C. Williams, 84, of Springville, PA, died on Friday, March 12, 2010 at home. He is preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Mary E. Williams, who died
in October 2009 and by his first wife of 29 years, Carol M. Williams. He was born June 9, 1925, son of the late Leon and Alice Williams. Frank was a farmer for most of his life and for a short time worked for Springville Township. He will most be remembered as a loving father, who enjoyed life and family. He also had a great enjoyment for traveling, baseball/Cincinnati Reds, playing cards and farming. He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, sister and brother. Survivors include his children, Nancy and husband, Gene Bush of Springville, Alice and Ray Davis of Meshoppen, Gloria and Jim Baker of Springville, Robin and Wayne Michaels of Meshoppen, Ralph Williams of Springville; a brother, Roger Williams and sister, Esther Ralston; grandchildren Susan Huff, Steven Leiser, Kathy Filer, Charles Davis, Frankie Davis, Marty Davis, Gavin Davis, Kimberly Lane, Danielle Davis, James (Bucky) Baker, Emily Baker, Heather Stone, Jeremy Vaskas, Kyle Michaels, Timmy Williams and Tommy Williams. He was preceded in death by a son, James Williams; grandson, Kenneth Leiser and sister, June Glemser. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 26 at 10 a.m. with Pastor John Shaffer from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc., 73 West Tioga St., Tunkhannock. Interment will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
