AMSDILL - Dorothy Grace Rosette, age 86, died on Wednesday, March 26, 2008. She was born in Wilson, NY on January 14, 1922, the daughter of Albert and Hilda Amsdill. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Fred on January 16, 2000 with whom she celebrated fifty years of marriage. The beloved matriarch of a large and loving family, Dorothy raised four daughters, Cathy (Richard) Hallenbeck, of Rome, NY; Patricia (Donald) Hutches of Bath, NY; Margaret Carter of Rochester, NY and Dorianne (David) Hunt of Albany, NY. Dorothy dearly loved her fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. Additionally, Dorothy was predeceased by her sister Violet Babyak and survived by her brother, Clayton (Faye) Hauck, brother-in-law, Stephen Babyak, many special nieces and nephews’ plus countless friends. An accomplished career woman, Dorothy was proud to be named the first female foreperson of the bottling department at Taylor Wine, Co. Upon her retirement from Taylor, Dorothy founded a successful craft business, where she was known for her artistic quilt designs and unique jam recipes for “Gram’s Jams.” Dorothy lovingly created original quilts for each member of her family. Dorothy found great joy in helping others as an active volunteer for several organizations, including mentoring younger women as a Girl Scout leader. She served in numerous capacities as a member of her much-loved Hammondsport United Methodist Church including choir member, Sunday School teacher, youth craft chairperson, administrative board member, trustee, and flower chairperson, often incorporating flowers from her own lovely garden in the arrangements she displayed at the church. Dorothy was famous for her infectious smile and delicious baked goods, donating countless treats to bake sales for her church and her daughters’ activities. Donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Hammondsport Methodist Church Youth Programs, and Sunday School as well as the Seven Lakes Girl Scout Council in Hammondsport, NY. Calling Hours will be Saturday, March 29th from 1:00 – 2:00pm at the Methodist Church in Hammondsport followed by a Memorial Service and luncheon in church undercroft. AULT - Clarice E. Ault, 89, a life long resident of Williamsport, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at The Gatehouse in Divine Providence Hospital. She was born November 7, 1918 in Williamsport, the daughter of Harry and Clarice McClellan Miller. She retired in 1976 from Sears, Williamsport and was a member of the Top of the Hill Club, Williamsport. Clarice was predeceased by her husband, Harold, who died in 1976. Surviving her is a son, Stephen L. (Carolyn) Berger of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; two sisters, Alda Hartman and Shirley Franquet both of Williamsport; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2008 at St. Mary Episcopal Church, 912 Almond Street, Williamsport, PA 17701, with Rev. S. Shellman Baer officiating. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery. There will be no visitation. BIERLY - Neva Beth Eck, 85, of 205 Schoolhouse Road, Jersey Shore,
died
on Tuesday, March 25, 2008. She died peacefully
at ManorCare Health Center. Born in Antes Fort, on May 22, 1922, she was
the daughter of Claude and Blanche Bierly. On November 21 1947, she married
Raymond D. Eck of Oval. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Rodney
(Susan) and Gary (Diane) of Jersey Shore. Also surviving are five grandchildren:
Renee (Brian) Mariniello of East Aurora, N.Y.; Amy (John) Pecchia of Oval;
Andrew Eck of Camby, Ind.; Benjamin and Samuel Eck of Jersey Shore; four
great-grandchildren: Brandon Vartenisian, Brady Schneider, Sara and Daniel
Pecchia, all of Oval; and two step-great-grandchildren, Degen and Anthony
Marinello of East Aurora, N.Y. Neva is also survived by brothers, Vinson
Bierly of Waterville and Seth Bierly of Lock Haven. Predeceasing her were
her brothers Ardell and Enfield Bierly of Jersey Shore. Neva graduated
from Jersey Shore High School in 1941 and attended Anderson College in
Anderson, Ind. Before her marriage she worked at Sylvania, but after her
marriage, her family and her home were what brought her great satisfaction.
Neva also took much pleasure in sharing her love of Christ with others.
She was always willing to bear witness to the blessings that the Lord provided
in her life. Neva was a member of Crossroads Community Church. She attended
Jersey Shore Church of God for many years where she sang in the choir,
taught Sunday School and participated in women’s ministry. She was a member
of the Jersey Shore Garden Club, where she cultivated her love of growing
and arranging flowers. Neva was an accomplished artist and especially loved
painting with watercolors and oil. Other hobbies that she loved were sewing,
quilting and reading. On Monday, March 31, 2008 at Rearick-Carpenter Funeral
Home, “ A Life Celebration Home” 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore, a
private family visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. Neva’s Life Celebration
will begin when the family receives friends from 10-11:30 a.m., with a
memorial service to follow. Her pastor John Phillips of Crossroads Community
Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Oval Cemetery at the convenience
of the family. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be
made to the Crossroads Community Church Building Fund at 701Allegheny Street,

BIGLER - Lt. Col. Ret. Roy Lee Bigler, 76, of 7 Wildwood Road, Laconia, N.H., died Monday, March 24, 2008, after a short bout with cancer. The son of Clarence and Laura (Jackson) Bigler, he was born March 10, 1931 in New Salisbury, Ind. Entering the U.S. Air Force, he completed Aviation Cadet Training in San Antonio, Texas in 1952. Roy later went on to teach navigation until 1956 at Goodfella Air Force Base in Texas. He completed pilot training in 1957 going on to graduate from squadron officer school in 1959. Being stationed in numerous places in the U.S. flying B-47s and B-52s, he eventually logged in over 7,000 flight hours. In 1966, while attending the University of Omaha, he received a B.S. in business, later retiring in 1972 and moving to Kensington, N.H. where he was involved in the restoration of colonial houses and real estate. Survivors include: his wife of fifty years, Joan L. McCarty-Bigler of Laconia; a son, Mark D. Bigler of Laconia; a daughter, Lori A. Nava of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren, Melissa Bigler of Laconia, Kyle Bigler and Seth Clifford both of Barnstead, and Alex Lopez, Eric Lopez and Miguel Nava all of San Diego; two brothers, Wilbur Bigler of New Albany, Ind.; and Chester Bigler of Plymouth, Ind.; one sister, Helen Rainbolt of Clarksville, Ind. and several nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by a brother, Paul Bigler. BOGLE David, 71, Beloved husband and father. He is survived by a loving wife of 43 years and four children. He also leaves three grandchildren. He served in the US Air Force, retiring, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was also a union member in a local manufacturing facility and was a member of the A.F.S.A. He was a well-traveled man that loved his country and family very much. He will be greatly missed by all that really knew him. All services are private. BRANT - Elwood F. Brant, 93, formerly of Pennsdale, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. Born in Montgomery on March 3, 1915, he was a son of the late Ernest and Amanda (Frey) Brant. His wife of 63 years, the former Ione Lose, died July 12, 1997. A 1933 graduate of Muncy High School, he was employed by Sprout-Waldron (now Andritz) in Muncy for 37 years until retiring in 1979. Elwood was a member of Sprout’s Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed outdoor activities, especially fly-fishing. Elwood was an avid Penn State fan and also liked to play cards. Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Roger E. and Lois Brant of Williamsport and Peter L. Brant of Hughesville; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. BREWER - Susan K. Brewer, 53, Milan, died on Monday, March 24, 2008 at home unexpectedly. Susan was born on July 24, 1954 in Syracuse, N.Y. Susan loved to watch TV, plant flowers, photography and taking trips. She was predeceased by: her step-father, Ralph Ward; sisters, Nancy Kurtz and Betty Ward; brother, Bill Ward; grandparents, Con and Clara Brewer, Fred and Cora Ward and Malcolm and Margaret Ellers. She is survived by: her mother, Yvonne Ward, and father, Erving Brewer; siblings, Tamara and Tom Reynolds, Sis and Dave Campbell, Becky and Gordon Dietz, Kim and Ken Bentley, Gregg and Linda Ward, Kelly and Mike Miner and Brett Ward; several aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Greater Valley Assembly of God, 200 West Lockhart Street, Sayre, with Rev. Chris Gray officiating. BRIGGS - Former Corning resident, Thelma (Perk) B. Hornstein, died on Saturday, March 22, 2008 in Renton at the age of 90. Thelma Baker Briggs was born in Corning, New York, on February 17, 1918 to Lemuel and Julietta Briggs. She graduated from Corning High School and from Houghton College, Houghton, New York. She married Searles Hornstein in 1940, and they became the youth leaders of the Corning Presbyterian Church for several years. Perk held various jobs in Montgomery, Alabama, Atlanta, Georgia, and San Antonio, Texas as she followed her husband, who was a “stateside” x-ray technician in the U.S. Army during World War II. The family lived in Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Montana, and South Dakota before moving to Bismarck, North Dakota in 1974 for thirty-two years. Searles died in 2000, and Perk moved to Renton, Washington in 2006 to be near her daughter. She loved to travel and visited Spain, South Africa, Morocco, the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, the Panama Canal, Mexico, Canada, and all the states in the U.S. She also loved to play bridge, read, and work crossword puzzles. Perk is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Glen Scholtes of Kent, Washington; her granddaughter and husband, Eryn and Josh Frank, great-granddaughter, Olivia, and great-grandson, Noah, all of Rockford, Illinois; a nephew, Robert Ende, his wife, Theresa, and their daughter, Tenaya, of Los Altos, California; a niece, Lucinda Reid of Chichester, New Hampshire; and a cousin, Marian (Garner) Ryder of Horseheads, New York. BRINK - Arlene Fern Warner, 78, entered into rest on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital. Arlene was born on January 5, 1930 in the village of Endicott, NY, the daughter of the late Ross and Marjorie Brink. She was loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Arlene enjoyed fishing, crocheting and word puzzles. Arlene was predeceased by her son Jeffrey; sister, Harriet; brother, Carlton; grandson, Jacob; and granddaughter, Sandra. She is survived by her children, Victor and Barbara Warner, Chesten and Sheryl Warner of MI, Trixie and Owen Buck of MA, Robin and Bonnie Warner, Joelene and Clarence McGray, Joseph Warner, Jr. and his companion, Doris Edwards, all of FL, Tina and William Wilcox of Clockville, NY, Marjorie Rothchild and Troy Warner of Bath, NY; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. BRUSH - Monroe J. Brush, 76, formerly of Lake Street, Hammondsport, died Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Taylor Health Center. He was born August 25, 1931 in Prattsburgh, the son of John Earl and Esther Gertrude Bennett Brush. Monty lived in Avoca for several years before moving to Hammondsport in 1937. He started working at Mercury Aircraft in 1950 and retired from there after many years of service. He was a longtime member of the Rebecca’s and the Odd Fellow Lodge, one of the founders of the Hammondsport Volunteer Ambulance Corp, and a member of the Hammondsport Fire Department. Surviving are his sisters, Onalee J. Clark of Bath and Edna Bailey of Elmira; several nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom helped him over the years. At his request, there will be no calling hours. Committal services will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery at the convenience of the family. BUSH - Ruth I. Hatfield, 97, of Bath, NY died Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital. She was born in Lancing, MI, August 25, 1910, the daughter of Custer and Pearl A. Smith Bush. She worked with her husband for 20 years operating Hatfield’s Store. Ruth attended Michigan University. She was a member of the First Presbyterisn Church of Bath and also worked with the Girl Scouts for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Robert) Hamilton, 932 West Wind Place, Virginia Beach, VA 32452, her son, Thomas Hatfield of Bath, NY, two grandsons, Scott (Amy) Hamilton of Virginia Beach, VA and Eric (Sabrina) Hatfield of Bath, NY; great grandchildren, Casey Furia, Mason Hamilton, Austin Hamilton and Briana Hatfield, nephews Bruce (Marcia) Bush of Lincoln, CA and Robert (Alanna) Bush of Anthem, AZ. BUTLER - Charlotte B. Robinson, 85, of Chestnut St., Athens, Pa., died peacefully Friday morning, March 28, 2008 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Charlotte was born on September 30, 1922 in Newark Valley, NY a daughter of the late John and Dora (Quick) Butler. She attended elementary school in Newark Valley and was a graduate of Johnson City High School Class of 1941. On October 21, 1944, she married George L. Robinson and together they owned and operated a family farm in Windham Summit. During the 1940’s Charlotte was employed by Bell Telephone Company as a phone operator. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and shopping. Charlotte was devoted to her family, although she always found time as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the Towanda Elementary School. In addition, she also served on the Northeast Bradford School Board during the 1950’s. Mom, you will be forever remembered and forever missed. Charlotte is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Gayle and David Cooley, Jr of LeRaysville, Pa; daughter Shirley Robinson of Midlothian, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law Ray Sr. and Sandra Robinson of Owego; her special grandchildren Ray Robinson Jr., Rhaylene Cooley and her husband Tom Pardoe, Clifford Robinson, and Victoria Cooley. She was predeceased by her husband George L. Robinson on July 11, 2004 and her brother Douglas Butler in 1967. Abiding with Charlotte’s wishes, there will be no services. CARTY - Mr. David William Carty, age 49 of Franklin, TN, March 22, 2008. David, raised in his early years in Portland, OR, was a 1977 graduate of Williamsport Area High School in PA. He was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Class of 1981, and Valedictorian of his MBA class at Kent State University in Ohio. Upon receiving his commission in the Navy, he was selected for the Nuclear Submarine Service in the last group approved by Admiral Rickover. He served four years on the USS Glenard P. Lipscomb (SSN685). After leaving the Navy in 1986, he worked for Lukens Steel Co. in Coatesville, PA and in various management positions in Chicago, IL; Birmingham, AL; Cleveland, OH; Lancaster, PA; Valparaiso, IN; and Brentwood, TN until his death for what is now ArcelorMittal USA. Until his health declined, he was involved in competitive and recreational bicycling as well as providing leadership for his children in Scouting and coaching in the Girls Softball Association of Franklin. CERVONI - Richard L. Cervoni, age 81, of Thurston, NY, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 26, 2008. The family will receive friends at Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Saturday, March 29, from 1:00 – 3:00pm. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 3:00pm at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be held at Montour Cemetery at a later date. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Cervoni; sons, Ron (Gloria) Cervoni, and Vaughn (MaryEllen) Cervoni, all of Corning; brothers, Lewis and Lester Cervoni, both of Painted Post; 5 grandchildren, Tammie (Orie) Copp, Nichole Cervoni, Brieanna Cervoni, Katelyn Cervoni, and Brooke Cervoni; 2 great-grandchildren, Kayla and Steven Copp; and sister-in-law, Alice Cervoni, of Watkins Glen. He was predeceased by brothers Chester and Russell Cervoni. He and Joyce lived in the Steuben County area most of their lives. Dick worked for Corning, Inc. as an electrician. He retired after working there 47 years. His hobby included motorcycle riding and he enjoyed building many homes. CHAMBERLAIN - Sharon A. Foust, 60, of Hughesville, died on Sunday, March 23, 2008, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, after an extended illness. She was born in Muncy on January 15, 1948, a daughter of the late Harry and Betty (Williams) Chamberlain. Sharon was a 1965 graduate of Hughesville High School. After high school, she attended nursing school and was employed by the Williamsport Hospital. Later in life, she owned and operated Sharon’s Pantry (formerly Boyer’s Restaurant) in Hughesville, and for the past 20 years, she was employed by Hoss’s Steak and Seafood House, in Williamsport, as a dining room and training manager. She was very active with the Picture Rocks United Methodist Church, and doing volunteer work, especially with the March of Dimes “Walk-a-Thon”. She is survived by one daughter, Tiffany Foust of Philadelphia, two brothers, Larry Chamberlain of Hughesville, and Marc W. (Joyce) Chamberlain of Ithaca, N.Y. Friends and family will be received on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Picture Rocks United Methodist Church, with her pastor, the Rev. Gerald L. Wagner, officiating. CLARK Richard L.
Of Davis Road in South Corning, NY, died Friday, March 28, 2008, at
his daughter's home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Corning
on September 17, 1944, to Bernard and Dorothy (Cady) Clark. He retired
from Kennedy Valve in Elmira, NY, in 2000, where he had worked as a machinist.
Dick served his country in the Army. He enjoyed watching sports on TV and
John Wayne movies. He devoted a lot of his time to his grandchildren. He
is survived by his longtime companion, Sally Teeter of Corning; stepdaughters,
Kathy Bavisotto of Corning, and Linda (Allan) Salyerds of Painted Post;
one son, Jeff (Vickie) Teeter of Corning; stepmother, Dorothy Clark of
Corning; six brothers, Edward Clark of Corning, Bernard Clark of Corning,
Larry Clark of Inverness, FL, Robert Clark of Galeton, PA, Ronald Clark
of North Carolina, Donald Clark of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Samantha,
Jeofferey, Cassondra, Anthony, Alexandria, Jessica, Selena, and Brandon;
two great-grandchildren, William and Jacob. He was predeceased by two brothers,
Gerald and Bruce Clark. Friends may call on Thursday, April 3, 2008, from

DERR - Granville P. “Gran” Derr Sr., 84, of 304 N. Arch St., Montoursville, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Valley View Nursing Center following a brief illness. He and his wife, the former Margaret R. Easches, observed their 60th wedding anniversary on June 7, 2007. Gran was an Army veteran of World War II, and retired from Sylvania after 31 years of service. Gran was a member of the former Williamsport Area Management Club and a past President. After retirement Gran volunteered as a tax preparer for the elderly through AARP. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, a 1941 graduate of Williamsport High School, a member of the Montoursville American Legion Post 104 and the Williamsport Area Stamp Club. He also enjoyed model railroading. Born September 14, 1923 in Williamsport, he was the son of Paul A. and Verna Cecilia Yeagle Derr. Surviving in addition to his wife are son, G. Paul (Molly) Derr, Jr. of Williamsport; daughter, Susan A. (Robert) Hooton of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Anne D. Van Dusen of Lancaster; grandchildren, Sarah (Levi) Torrison of Mesa, AZ; Robert Hooton III of Colorado Springs; and Kelly L. Derr of Williamsport; and great grandson Elijah Torrison of Mesa. ECKENSTINE - Sara R. Natterer, 98, of Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, died there Saturday, March 22, 2008. She was formerly of the Salladasburg area. She was born March 12, 1910 in Salladasburg, a daughter of Asa Rudolf and Rosanna Babcock Eckenstine. Her husband, Arthur Natterer died in 1974. She was a homemaker. EDWARDS - Mae LaFrance, 80, of RR1, Box 1487, Laceyville, PA, died at the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock early Thursday morning, March 20, 2008. She was born in Meshoppen on Jan. 11, 1928, the daughter of the late Burr and Ermel White Edwards. Mrs. LaFrance was the wife of the late Haskell LaFrance, who died in 1986. When she was able, she attended the Auburn Baptist Church in West Auburn for many years. Surviving are her daughter and her husband, Rose and Harry Hodgson of West Auburn, along with her two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Henry Edwards of New York, also several nieces and nephews. Mrs. LaFrance is also survived by her best friend, Mrs. Janice Gensel of Laceyville. ELLIFTAWI - Ismail Atiyeh Ahmed Elliftawi Jr. (Mikie), of Montoursville, died March 24 at home. Born Sept. 21, 1977, Ismail attended Williamsport Area School District. He was a past member of Pennsdale Volunteer Fire Company. He was a graduate of Mount Joy Trucking Academy. Ismail is survived by his long time companion, Michelle Loner of Montoursville. He was the proud father of two daughters, Naheda (Nina) Elliftawi at home and McKenzie Petrarca of Pennsdale, and a stepson, Chad Petrarca of Pennsdale. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary June Rossman-Elliftawi and a brother, Isreal Elliftawi. Surviving are three brothers, Atiyeh Elliftawi and Ahmed Elliftawi of Williamsport, also Kevin Rossman of Auburn. Ismail had a brotherly love for a long time family friend, James Harris of White Deer. Also surviving is his father, Ismail Elliftawi of Jerusalem and several other brothers and sisters from out of state. Numerous nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention. Ismail was an enormous fan of the band “Styx”, and he had a love for his brothers and his extended family. Ismail enjoyed a good game of whiffle ball with his brothers. Ismail’s life passion was being part of the Pennsdale Fire Company where he volunteered a lot of his time. He also spent a significant amount of time researching his Palestinian heritage. FOULKROD - Mr. Earl D. Foulkrod, 80, long time resident of South Williamsport, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Sycamore Manor Health Center, Montoursville, after a rather extensive illness. Mr. Foulkrod was a member of the Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church at Williamsport. He had attended grade school and high school at New Kensington. He was a member of the graduating class of 1946 from Ken High School. Earl had been an active volunteer as a scout leader with the Boy Scouts of America in the Pittsburgh area. Earl also enjoyed music. He played both the piano and the organ. He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Earl moved to South Williamsport in 1959. He found his life work in retail hardware sales, with brief stints into the wholesale business. Earl had been employed by both the former Neyhart’s and Prior & Sallada Company of Williamsport. Earl became a master gardener in his early retirement and founded “Sodbusters”, an organization for disabled persons to work with their hands. He was always willing to help other people. Born December 2, 1927 at Tarentum, he was the son of the late Earl Jennings and Hazel McLaughlin Foulkrod. Surviving are his sister, Nita J. Peck and his brother-in-law, Colonel Jim Peck, United States Air Force, retired, of San Antonio, TX, his niece, Pamela Breithaupt of Cedar Park, TX, his two grand nephews, Jon Unverzagt of Houston, TX and Christopher Breithaupt of Cedar Park, TX. GARR - Beatrice Garr Latimer, 93, formerly of Sheridan Street in Williamsport, died on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at The Meadows Assisted Living Center. She was born in 1914 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of John and Mary Schessler Garr and had lived in Montoursville and Williamsport since 1956. Beatrice had been a sales assistant at Britt’s Department Store for a number of years, and had been a member of the Williamsport Country Club and of the Montoursville Presbyterian Church. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Ivan N. Latimer, who was formerly General Manager of the Jones & Laughlin Wire Rope Division, Muncy, in 1996. Beatrice was also predeceased by a brother, Jerome and sisters, Esther Buka and Lucille Wolfram. Beatrice is survived by a son, Thomas E. Latimer of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, W. Christopher Latimer of Denver, Colo., and Elizabeth Latimer LoCaste of Houston, Texas; and four great grandchildren, Zachary Latimer, Cate, Samuel and Molly LoCaste. GARRISON - Mrs. Ellen Irene Garrison Moore, 90, of Plano, Texas, died Monday, March 24, 2008 at Plano, Texas. Ellen was born November 12, 1917 at Williamsport, the daughter of the late John W. and Kathryn Elizabeth Wright Garrison. She married Carl W. Moore, a highly decorated veteran who served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. Longtime residents of South Williamsport, Ellen was employed in the Office of Register and Recorder of the Lycoming County Courthouse and Carl was a mechanic and accomplished soloist for events and ceremonies in Williamsport. She is survived by her sons, Ronald and his wife, Claire of Plano, Texas, and David and his wife, Thuy of McClean, Virginia; grandchildren, Ronnie, Emily, Richard, Michael, Arielle, and Kayla; and great grandchildren, Haydenn, Eilam, and Jonas. GETTIG - Earl “Pete” Gettig Jr., 66, of Bellefonte, died Monday, March 24, 2008 at his home. He was born on July 29, 1941 in Bellefonte, a son of the late Earl G. Sr. and Eleanor A. Lucas Gettig. He was united in marriage to Nancy J. Gettig, who survives at home, on March 30, 2002, at Sylvan Hills Christian Service Camp in Howard. Pete was a 1959 graduate of Bellefonte High School. He was most recently employed with CATA as a supervisor of dispatch. He was a member of the Howard Christian Church. Pete was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He loved sporting events of all kinds. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also loved his dogs, Duke and Max. In addition to his wife, Pete is survived by five daughters, Anita M. (Keith) Tressler, Amy L. (Jeffrey) Brand, Nancy J. (Wayne R.) Fishburn, Tammy A. Snook (Robert J. Whitehill) and Jackie R. (Donnie E.) Hockenberry; two sons, Scott A. (Betsy S.) Gettig and Andrew P. GREENE - Mr. W. Dale Greene, 93, of North Main Street, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, N.C. He was born March 1, 1915, in Watauga County to the late William Johnson and Ada Coffey Greene. Mr. Greene was a retired dairy farmer. He had also worked for H. Rockwell & Son Feed Service in Pa., for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Greene Day. GROSS - George B. Gross Sr., 85, of 1865 Beauty Ave., died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at home with his family in attendance. He and his wife, the former Edith A. Strailey, observed their 60th wedding anniversary on June 28, 2007. George was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II, and retired from C. A. Reed. Born in Jersey Shore, PA on April 15, 1913, she was the daughter of Leonard and Catherine Lane Hayes. She married Clinton P. Congdon on November 25, 1937 in Albany. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1996. Mrs. Congdon was a graduate of Albany Business College. She was employed by IMB in Albany and later by Forbes Business Services, Poughkeepsie. HENDERSON - Elner E. “Dolly” Plant, 86, a resident of the Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, and formerly of South Main Street, Lewistown, died at 10:10 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2008 at the manor. Born August 31, 1921 in Kingsport, she was the daughter of the late Iven and Nellie (Baker) Henderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. John J. Plant on Sept. 15, 1992. HOOVER - Laura M. Johnson, 74, of Downingtown, died Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit in West Chester. She was born August 4, 1933 in Sunbury, the daughter of William P. and Catherine L. Bischof Hoover. Laura was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bonita Springs, Fla. She was a 1951 graduate of Sunbury High School and had worked for Equinox in Williamsport, and also for Laglon Apparel in Sunbury. She enjoyed needlepoint, walking, traveling, flowers, and nature. On Dec. 30, 2007 she celebrated her 51st wedding anniversary with her husband, Truman Johnson Jr. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, Mark E. HOSMER - Leona H. Heisey, 84, of Homestead Lane, Jersey Shore, died Monday, March 24, 2008 at Manor Care, Jersey Shore. She was born April 16, 1923 in Jersey Shore, a daughter of Fred L. and Effie L. Elsbree Hosmer. She was a 1941 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. She received her degree from the former Lock Haven State Teachers College in 1945. She was a Librarian for 39 years at Lock Haven University, where at the time of her retirement was an Associate Services Librarian. Early in her life she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jersey Shore and later Epworth United Methodist Church, where for many years was the Superintendent of the children’s Sunday school. She sang in the choir and was a member of the adult Sunday school class and the United Methodist Church Women. Since 1978 she has been a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the King’s Daughters Sunday School Class and the Calling and Caring Ministries program. She was a member and past president of Phi Kappa Phi; the Pennsylvania State College and University Retired Faculty Assoc.; the Lock Haven Alumni Assoc.; past member of Kappa Delta Phi; the Pennsylvania Library Assoc.; and the Jersey Shore Public Library Board of Trustees. She enjoyed visiting people, her “card ministry”, caring for others and was a faithful, loving wife to her husband, Jay R. Heisey, whom she married in 1965. Besides her husband Jay, Leona is survived by one nephew, Thomas L. Hosmer, three grand nephews, four grand nieces, four great grand nieces and six great grand nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen L. Hosmer, in 1987, and a brother, Leon C. Hosmer, in 1980. HOWELL - Abby Holmes Potter, a long-time summer resident of Armenia Mountain, Troy, Pa., died on March 25, 2008, at Fox Run, her home since 2007. Together with Tom Potter (1917-2003), her husband of nearly 62 years, she enjoyed the beauty and tranquility of the Pennsylvania mountains and the ancestral history that helped define her. Since 1918 she spent nearly every summer at Woodburn, her mountain home. Born on July 26, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Abby attended Erasmus Hall; Highland Hall (graduated 1936), Vassar College (B.A. 1940), and Columbia University (M.A. 1942). Tom and Abby were married in 1941. From the outbreak of World War II, when Tom served as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps, until his retirement in 1971, she lived an Air Force life. During this time she raised seven children, was teacher and professor of English at the School for the Blind in Bangkok, Thailand; Albany High School and Albany Junior College in Georgia; and McKendree College in Illinois. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. In 1971, Abby and Tom moved to Tallahassee, where she remained until 2007. She volunteered her time with a broad array of community services, including the Area Agency on Aging; the American Association of University Women, for which she served as vice president; and the LeMoyne Art Gallery, for which she served as a board member. Potter took an active role with AAUW in lobbying for the Equal Rights Amendment, and was an AAUW delegate to the Beijing Conference on Women. She was co-founder of the Tallahassee Cold Night Shelter, now known as the Leon County Shelter, Inc. For her many community contributions, she was awarded the AAUW Valiant Woman Award and the Tallahassee Social Services Volunteer of the Year Award in 1990. In Pennsylvania, she regularly attended meetings of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Red Hat Society, the Garden Club, the Allen F. Pierce Library Book Discussion, the Rotary Club, the Thursday Study Club, and the annual Blossburg Library Garden Party, where she performed poetry readings. Abby also attended the biannual PowerPunch luncheons for women in Cliffside Park, N.J. A member of the First Presbyterian of Tallahassee and the Olde Covert Church on Armenia Mountain, she generously supported the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the American Civil Liberties Union, Common Cause, and the Initiative for Global Development. Abby is survived by her six children and spouses: Abby and Jim Werlock of Mainesburg, Pa.; Jennifer and John Winton, Dewey Potter, and Amy and John Gibson, all of Seattle, Wash.; Tim and Kathy Potter of Rockledge, Fla.; and Meg and Matt Potter of Englewood, Fla. IVEY - Wendy Ann Kase, 42, sister-in-law and daughter-in-law of local residents, Tiffani M. Kase and Teresa “Terry” Kase, died suddenly of an undiagnosed heart problem, on February 13 in Bloomington, Ill. Wendy resided in Bloomington with her husband, Tate, who survives. Also surviving is her father, Roy Ivey and a brother, Michael Ivey and his children, Lindsey and Sean. Services were held in Bloomington and Winter Haven, Fla., where Wendy was born and raised, and now lies peacefully next to her mother. Wendy was very active in many charities. The one closest to her heart was the run for St. Jude’s. KENNEDY - James E. Kennedy, 65, formerly of Sechler Circle, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Manor Care Health Services, North. Mr. Kennedy retired from the U. S. Air Force as Master Sergeant and served in Vietnam. Survivors include his sons, Mark of Davis, CA and Kevin of Bakersfield, CA; his sister, Linda Woodley of city and his brothers, John of Boynton Beach, FL and David of Vacaville, CA. KRUEGER - Mildred E. Holmes, 87, of 1445 Sycamore Road, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Sycamore Manor after an extended illness. Mildred was the wife of the late Melvin Holmes. Mildred worked as a bookkeeper in Florida. Mildred was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the Sweet Adeline Barber Shop Quartet. Born July 21, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of August and Edith Buttner Krueger. Surviving are a daughter, Carole (Ed) Moses of Williamsport, and three grandsons: Geoffrey Moses of Kent, OH; Gregory Moses of Athens, OH; and Jeremy Moses of Williamsport. LAWRENCE - Lewis A. Lawrence, 76 years, formerly of Corning, NY died Tuesday March 25, 2008 at St. John’s Home. He was born May 2, 1931 in Bath, NY, the son of the late Albert and Estella Wheaton Lawrence. A lifetime resident of the area and graduate of Painted Post High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict (1951-54). Lewis and Wanda C. VanEtten were married August 30, 1952 in the East Lindley Baptist Church. Wanda predeceased him August 27, 2006. He was employed as a Machinist with Dresser-Rand, retiring in 1993 with 30+ year’s service. Lewis was a member of the Central Baptist Church and had served as a driver of the church Sunday School Bus. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Rand Bowling League. LEWIS - Raymond F. Lewis Sr., 75, of 10006 Wallis Run Road, Trout Run, died at his residence on March 26, 2008. He was born on Dec. 10, 1932 in Cascade Twp., and was the son of Charles and Anna Henry Lewis. Raymond retired after 41 years in 1993 from the former Schnadig Corporation. He attended Wallis Run Church. He and his wife the former Ellen Marie Freezer had celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on December 17, 2007. He also enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. MASTIN - Following a valiant seven-month battle with cancer, the Reverend Richard Earl Mastin of Jordan, NY, died on Monday evening, March 24, 2008, in Syracuse, just three months short of his 75th birthday. He was born in Binghamton, NY, on June 22, 1933, the oldest son of Harold and Mabel Stevens Mastin. He was a retired minister (August 2005) after 50 years of ministry at seven churches – in Camillus, Reading Center, Altay, Canandaigua, Port Byron, Macedon, and Barre Center -- and owner of Rich’s Construction. Most recently, Rich has been employed as a custodian in Jordan Community Building and Town Office Building. He has also been a substitute teacher at Jordan Elbridge School and Watkins Glen, Odessa, and Dundee Central Schools. Earlier in his career, Rich also was a church camp counselor and a water safety instructor. He graduated from Cornell University (1955) where he was a member of Kappa Delta Rho, Colgate Rochester Divinity School (1959), and did some graduate work at Drew University (1980s). Rich volunteered for and was a member of a number of organizations including: Jordan Masonic Lodge; Syracuse Court, Order of the Amaranth; Order of the Eastern Star; Camillus Fire Department as Chaplain; Scottish Rite where he was a 32nd Degree Master Mason; Valley Men’s Club; Onondaga Hill Club; Tigris Shrine Temple; 2000 American Baptist Nicaraguan Mission trip; and American Baptist Men. He was especially proud of his work as a September 11 volunteer. Rich was an avid reader and gardener, and had a passion for playing cards and singing. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, and step daughter Ann (Rutledge) Dodge. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Jane G. McHENRY - MARGESON Hattie Louise, Age 90 of Horseheads, NY died on Monday March 24, 2008. Hattie was born June 14, 1917 on Lower Maple Avenue in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Charles and Mae Moore McHenry. She was a graduate of Southside High School. Hattie was a direct descendant of one of the oldest families in Chemung County. Her Great Great Great Great Grandfather, Abram Miller was an early pioneer who settled in this county and became the first judge. Her Great Great Great Grandfather, John McHenry, came to what is now the Town of Southport in 1792 eventually marrying Anna Miller the daughter of Abram Miller in 1793. Hattie is pre-deceased by her husband Ray C. Margeson who's family were also early settlers near Keuka Lake in Wayne Township in 1795. She married her husband, Ray C. Margeson, on September 1, 1939 and he pre-deceased her on November 7, 1995. She was also pre-deceased by her grandson Fred Lewis and by her brother John McHenry. Hattie worked at Remington Rand and retired from Westinghouse Corporation in Horseheads, NY. Hattie was very active in The Horseheads Fire Dept. Auxiliary for several years and was recently honored as a 61 year member. Mrs. Margeson was a loving and giving person who treasured her family and friends. METZGER - Gail M. Calta, 63, of 1508 West Fourth Street, Williamsport, died at her home on Thursday, March 27, 2008. Born November 20, 1944 in Williamsport, she was a daughter of Dale L. and Doris M. Aderhold Metzger. Gail was a 1962 graduate of Williamsport High School and retired in 2006 after 35 years as a switchboard operator at Williamsport Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul-Calvary United Methodist Church where she served on the trustee board and was a member of the Dorothy Long Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Newberry Lioness Club. Surviving are her husband of 14 years, George J. Calta; her parents of Williamsport; son, the Rev. Mark J. (Jodi) Webb of York; daughter, Lori A. MILLER Eddie Lee, Age 73 of 5988 State Route 224 Cayuta, NY died on Thursday March 27, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving family. Eddie was born November 14, 1934 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Earl E. and Gladys Smith Miller. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country during the Korean War. He married his wife Louella Mathews Miller on October 28, 1967 and they recently celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary on October 28, 2007. Eddie was a retired Truck Driver having driven for Thatcher Glass Company in Elmira, NY and Leprino Foods in Horseheads, NY. He loved hunting and being outdoors and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Eddie was pre-deceased by his parents, his brother Larry Miller, and his very good friends Elwin and Martha Marshall. He loved his family and friends and treasured every minute that he spent with them. She was born on July 11, 1918, in Wilmot Township, a daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Kneller Norconk. Prior to retirement she was employed at the Endicott Johnson Shoe Factory in Mildred. She is a member of St. John's Lutheran Church; and was a member of the Wilmot Grange. She enjoyed her time spent gardening, and liked fishing and being in the outdoors. PERRY - Shirley Mae Gallup, 64, of Green Cove Springs, Fla., died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the Shands Jacksonville Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla. Shirley was born November 13, 1943 in Sayre to Harold Burton and Rose Vincent Perry of Waverly. For 27 years, Shirley was a CNA dedicated to taking care of the elderly, working last at Heartland Healthcare Center in Jacksonville, Fla. She had formerly lived in Waverly; Coldwater, Mich.; and Ft. Myers, Fla. PINKERTON - Robert Eugene (Pink) Pinkerton, 85, fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 in the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village at Lewisburg, PA following a brief illness. Born in Lykens, Dauphin County, PA, on Monday, September 11, 1922, he was the son of the late Eugene and Mary (Hawk) Pinkerton. He was the widower of June Irene (Whalen) Pinkerton who preceded him in death in 1975. He was employed in the lumber yard at the Rochelle Manufacturing Co. at Montgomery, PA retiring in 1985. Previously he had been employed in the coal mines. Bob was of the Lutheran faith. Pink was an avid Penn State Football fan and had a keen interest in history and trivia. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Donna P. and Cleneth Yonkin, Allenwood, PA; two grandchildren, Trudy Mausteller and Scott Yonkin. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. In addition to his wife, Pink was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Paul Pinkerton and Jack LaRue Pinkerton; three sisters, Ruby, Gladys and Melba and one brother, James Pinkerton. RAWSON Charles "Ed" , 68, of Galeton, PA, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, in Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro, PA. Born November 6, 1939 in Coudersport, PA, he was the son of Iva (Campfield) Rawson and the late Charles G. Rawson. He was a graduate of Galeton High School and earned an Associate's Degree in welding from Williamsport Area Community College. He was married to the former Marjorie Butler, who survives. Ed was a member, a Deacon, and in the choir at The First Presbyterian Church in Galeton, a Life Member and the former Fire Chief and Assistant Chief of the Goodyear Hose Company, a driver for the Gale Hose Ambulance Association, a member of the Galeton Masons #602 and the Coudersport Consistory, a former Galeton Borough Councilman, and a former Pike Township Supervisor. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. RODGERS - Margaret R. (Peggy) Rohrbach, 73, of 225 Louise Drive, Morrisville, and a longtime resident of Levittown, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, in the Briar Leaf Nursing Home in Doylestown. Born Sept. 25, 1934 in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of A. Wilson Rodgers and the former Esther Yeager. Peggy was a 1952 graduate of the Jersey Shore High School and attended Lock Haven State College. She had worked for Woolrich Inc. for over 20 years and was employed by the State Bank of Avis. For many years she was a member and Past Worth Matron of the Ivanhoe Chapter #28 Order of Eastern Star. She also was a member of the Langhorne United Methodist Church. SALVATORI - Toni Rae Hess, 52, of 1107 Zion Ridge Avenue, Bellefonte, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at her home. Born January 13, 1956 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Sebastian and Elener Barr Salvatori. Toni had been employed by GTE Sylvania in Montoursville, and Murata Erie, Vertex and General Dynamics in State College. She enjoyed her family, watching her grandkids, and playing with her puppy, Bella Rae. She was born on July 5, 1914 in Muncy Twp. and was the daughter of Harry E. and Elsie Hall Schultz. Helen retired from the West Co. in Jersey Shore. Surviving her is a brother Earl L. Lloyd was a Navy veteran of WW II and retired from Volusia County Schools, Florida, after 20 years of services as an electrician. Teachout, Sr., 70, of Kingsley, PA was promoted to heaven on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, from Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, PA, into the presence of the God he loved and served. Don was born March 12, 1938 in a missionary clinic at Ippy in the Central African Republic. He was the son of the late Richard P. and M. Oril [Reed] Teachout. Don was a member of the Springville Baptist Church in Springville, which commissioned him for missionary service in 1961. He served with Baptist Mid-Missions as a missionary in the Central African Republic for over 43 years. He received his undergraduate degree from Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City, NY (now located in Clarks Summit PA), and his Masters in Divinity from Grand Rapids Baptist Theological Seminary in Michigan. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Betty L. [Parks] Teachout of Kingsley; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald O. ULRICH - Mr. Raymond N. Ulrich, 85, of 2140 Warrensville Road, Montoursville, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville. Mr. Ulrich was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He served in Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was an expert marksman and military qualified with the Thompson Sub machine gun, M1 Rifle, ‘03 Centerfire Rifle and the .45 Calibre handgun. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, and the European and Middle European Theatre Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. Mr. Ulrich had been employed as a weaver for the former Syntex Fabrics of Williamsport. He served the company for 22 years, until its closing in 1977. Raymond was a strong supporter and contributor of the Lycoming United Way for many years. He also enjoyed fishing. Born May 10, 1922, at South Williamsport, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ulrich. His wife, the former Elizabeth M. Hill Ulrich, preceded him in death on June 19, 1995. They were united in marriage on February 1, 1941. Together they observed 54 years of marriage. Surviving are his daughter, Cindy and her husband, Walter Fleeger of Linden, and his son, Michael and his wife, Rhonda Ulrich of Montoursville, his four grandchildren and his four great grandchildren. In addition to his late parents and his late wife, Raymond was also preceded in death by his late daughters, Sharon A. WEAVER - Benjamin C. Weaver, 82, of Hughes Road, Watsontown, died Sunday, March 22, 2008 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville where he had been a medical patient. Born October 26, 1925 in Watsontown, he was the son of the late Chaucey B. and Hazel J. (Bartlow) Weaver. He and his wife, the former Irma K. Stahl, celebrated 59 years of marriage until her death January 6, 2006. A carpenter, he enjoyed woodworking. He was a veteran of the US Navy and a life member of the Muffly Huff Post 8206, VFW, Turbotville and the American Legion Post 323, Watsontown. WEIGEL - Richard J. Weigel of Antes Fort died on Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Jersey Shore Hospital. Born on January 23, 1947 to the late Fred and Ida Weigel. Richard was employed as a truck driver for Avis America before his illness. He was an Army Vietnam War Veteran who was a Supply Sergeant. He also enjoyed family games and working on his home. Richard is pre-deceased by his son Michael and daughter Jennifer and his brothers Fred and Russell Weigel. He is survived by his wife of 8 years Karen (nee: Way), his children Christine, Richard Jr., Richard II, and Michelle and his grandchildren. WELTY - Helen A. Hooey, 79, of 3136 College Ave., Corning, NY, died Monday, March 24, 2008 at home with her loving family at her side. Helen was a demonstrator for WalMart in Painted Post. Helen enjoyed bowling, being with family and friends, and computer games. She especially loved having “Corky”, her pet dog, at her side. WERTMAN - Pearl E. Page, 99, of Montgomery, PA, died on Monday, March 24, 2008 in the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. Born in Montgomery, Lycoming County, PA, on Tuesday, July 28, 1908, she was the daughter of the late William and Stella Mae (Schnyder) Wertman. Pearl’s father died when she was ten years old. At that time she went to live with her aunt and uncle, William and Elizabeth Schrader of Montgomery. She was the widow of Lester P. Page Sr. who preceded her in death on February 19, 1990. Lester and Pearl were married on May 21, 1930. His death broke a marital union of 59 years and 9 months. Pearl was a 1927 graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School and a 1928 graduate of the Potts Shorthand College at Williamsport. In 1937 Lester and Pearl established their own business, Page Upholstery Shop, which was located on the Old Road at Montgomery. They were in business until the early 1970’s when they retired. Pearl did the bookkeeping, cutting and sewing. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church at Montgomery, PA. Pearl was a member of the Montgomery Senior Citizens and Monsey Chapter # 481 Order of the Eastern Star at Muncy. She enjoyed knitting and needlepoint. She especially enjoyed having cookies and coffee each morning with her good friend, Erma Eveland. Pearl and Lester enjoyed getting the family together on holidays. Pearl is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Fae A. and Richard James, Altoona, PA; Audrey D. and Charles Duchman, Montgomery, PA; one son and daughter-in-law, Lester P. and Donna Page Jr., Hernando, FL; two half-brothers, Arden Appleman, Turbotville, PA; Clarence Appleman, Turbotville, PA. WHEELER Linda J. DREW, 53, of Wysox RR 2 died
peacefully on Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at the Robert Packer Hospital following
a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Sept. 30, 1950,
in Towanda, a daughter of the late Frank and Hilda (ELLIS) WHEELER.
Linda was a graduate of Northeast Bradford High School, class of 1970.
She was employed at Stackmore Furniture Co. in Owego, N.Y., for nearly
30 years. Linda enjoyed watching the races, country music and feeding
the birds, although her greatest enjoyment was being surrounded by her
loving family and friends. Linda is survived by her son, Jody WHEELER

March 26, 2008 at McAuley Manor after a long illness. She was a retired
food service worker at Jasper-Troupsburg Central School. Survivors include
her husband, Lewis B. Matson of Troupsburg; a son, R. Lynn Matson of Falconer;
two daughters, Andrea Everitt of Rochester and Janet Neally of Schaumberg,
Ill.; and a sister, Mildred Clark of Hornell. Calling hours are from 2-4
p.m. Sunday, March 30 at the H.P. Smith and Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main
St., Woodhull. Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours
at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 30 at the funeral home, with Rev. Donald Hulbert
