WILLIAM D. MOSHER – During the early morning hours of February 3, 2007 lifelong Columbia Cross Roads resident William DeForest Mosher, 93 died quietly at Bradford County Manor.  Born in Troy on Oct. 12, 1913 he was the son of Fred and Victoria (Deforest) Mosher.  As a young man, Mr. Mosher worked on the family farm, where he displayed a high aptitude for all things mechanical.  These skills eventually led to a position at Cummings Lumber as a master mechanic.  He was employed at Cummings for 40 years full time and another few years part time, eventually retiring well into his 80’s.  He was a man of few words and strong convictions.  Mr. Mosher was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his frequent fishing excursions to Round Lake Center, Ontario.  He also enjoyed raccoon and Fox hunting and was quite skilled at building canoes.  He was married to the late Betty Bailey with whom he raised three sons.  A great lover of animals, he could never refuse a stray that wandered to his doorstep.  William will be remembered as a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures life had to offer.  Surviving are his sons; Leon (Alice) Mosher, Mehoopany, Skip (Rosie) Mosher, Athens, Lyle Mosher, Columbia Cross Roads; grandchildren, Penny Rumsey (Dave Morgan), Moe Mosher (Jodie Maples), Nathan (Jill) Mosher, Bill (Esther) Mosher, Albert (Stacey) Mosher, Leon, Tim and Mary Mosher; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Toots Wright, Millerton as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; his beloved “Wiener” and several cats.  He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, brother, Jim Chamberlain; sisters, Charlotte Smith and Emma.  Funeral services were at the Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, Canton Feb. 7 with the Rev. Garry Zuber officiating.  The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the Bradford County Humane Society, U.S. Route 220, Ulster, PA.  –Canton Independent Sentinel

MOSIER –ALTHEA (THEA) MCEWEN, 39 of 434 Pennsylvania Ave., Waverly died Monday, September 17, 1990 at home following and extended illness.  Born May 6, 1951 in Sayre she was the daughter of Guyle and Alice Kelley Mosier.  A valley resident most of her life she married Ronald McEwen on May 8, 1971.  She is survived by her husband at home; two daughters, Kelly and Tammy McEwen, both at home; a son, Neal at home; her mother of Wyalusing; three sisters, Mrs. Jack (Shirley) Williams of Wyalusing, Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Moss of East Smithfield and Mrs. Philip (Joan) Larson of Ithaca; three brothers, Guy, Francis and Charles Mosier, all of Towanda and several nieces and nephews.  A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family on Thursday at the Waverly United Methodist Church with the Rev. Herbert Bowen, pastor officiating.  Memorials may be directed to Tioga County Hospice, Main Street, Owego, N.Y.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Allgeier and Blauvelt Funeral Home, 445 Waverly St., Waverly.  –Towanda Daily Review

WILLIAM R. H. MOST, 72 of 25 First St., Canton died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1985 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr. Most was born March 6, 1913 in Trenton, N.J. the son of Wilhelm and Katie Bickel Most.  He was a graduate of the Trenton High School, Trenton, N.J. and the Temple University School and Pharmacy in Philadelphia.  Mr. Most owned and operated the Rexall Drug Store in Canton from 1941 to 1976.  He was a member of the Pennsylvania Pharmaceutical Association and a past president of the Central Counties Pharmaceutical Association.  Mr. Most was an active member of the Canton Ecumenical Parish where he served as an elder and trustee for many years.  He was a member of the Canton F. and A.M. Lodge No. 415, the Towanda Lodge of Perfection, Hayden Council Prices of Jeruselem and Calvary Chapter of Rose Croix.  Mr. Most was a member of the Baldwin Commandry, No. 22 Knights Templar.  He was also a member of the Loyal Arch Chapter No. 261, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Williamsport Consistory and the Irem Temple Shrine of Wilkes-Barre.  Mr. Most was a member of and the oldest living past president of the Bradford County Shrine Club.  He was an active board member of the Bradford-Sullivan Council, Boy Scouts of American and recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.  Mr. Most was an active member for over 40 years and past president of the Canton Rotary Club.  He was also named a Paul Harris Fellow.  This is the highest award presented to a Rotary member, honoring him for his service.  He was also a member of the Canton l.O.O.M. No. 429, an active member of the Pennsylvania Association for Retarded Children and served on the corporate board of the N. Penn Health Services, Blossburg.  Mr. Most was an active member and past president of the Bradford-Sullivan Chapter of the American Cancer Society.  He was one of the originators of the Canton War Memorial Swimming Pool and was involved in the formation of the Canton Ambulance Association.  Mr. Most was a life member of the Innes Hose Company, Canton Fire Department.  He was recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award in 1981, presented by the Canton Rotary and Lions Clubs.  He was a former member of the Canton Business and Industrial Association, the Canton Borough Council and the Canton Area School district Board.  Mr. Most is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Wilie.  They celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on Sept 19, 1985.  Also surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. William J. and Arlene Most from Aylesbury, England, Dr. Robert K. and Barbara Most of Mansfield and Dr. Benjamin A. and Sandra Most of Iowa City, Iowa and seven grandchildren.  Friends may call at the Morse-Kleese Funeral Home, 40 N. Center Street, Canton on Friday from 8:30 until 9 p.m.  The Canton F. and A.M. Lodge No. 415 will conduct memorial services for their departed brother at the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. Friday.  The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Canton Ecumenical Parish, Center St., Canton with the Rev. Richard Barner, his pastor officiating.  Interment will be Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Ewing Cemetery in Trenton, N.J.  Memorial donations may be directed to the Bradford County Unit, American Cancer Society, 112 S. MOTT –CYNTHIA (MOTT) WHITAKER age 30, 1247 Elm Street, Wausau, WI died Saturday, October 25, 2003 as the result of a traffic accident. She was born April 7, 1973 in Batavia, NY, daughter of Rev. James and Meribeth (Brown) Mott.  On February 14, 1999 she married Brian Whitaker in Dallas, PA. Cynthia graduated from Twin Tiers Baptist High School, Breesport, NY and Mansfield University, Mansfield, PA.  She was a special education teacher in New York and Virginia and enjoyed music, especially playing the piano and violin.  Cynthia was an involved member of Highland Community Church, Wausau, WI.  Survivors include her husband, Rev. Brian Whitaker, Wausau, WI; two children, Kathryn Grace Whitaker, age 3 1/2, and Alexander Scott Whitaker, age 1 1/2; her parents, Rev. James and Meribeth (Brown) Mott, Elmira; one brother, Timothy (Kim) Mott, Rowlett, TX; three sisters, Sharon (Donald) Baker, Millerton, PA, Judith (John) Mock, Rowlett, TX, Lynette (James) Bryan, Johnson City, NY; a grandmother, Anna Brown, Horseheads; ten nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held in Wausau, WI.  Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau, WI. JOHN R. MOYER JR., 75 of LaPorte died on Sunday, Nov. 28, 1993 at the United Methodist Home in LaPorte following a lingering illness.  Born on Dec. 17, 1917 in Liberty, Pa. he was the son of the late John R. and Viola Bumgardner Moyer.  Sgt. Moyer was a World War II Army veteran.  He had been a resident of LaPorte for the last 45 years.  He served on the LaPorte Borough Council for 27 years.  On May 1, 1993 he and his wife, the former Aneta Houseknecht Moyer celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.  John was formerly employed by Reed and Kuhn Construction Co. of Elysburg, Pa., Cosgrove and Stepp and the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local of Williamsport and was a member of the local.  He left surviving his wife, Aneta Houseknecht Moyer at home; two sons, Richard Moyer of Hughesville, Pa. and Scott Moyer of Picture Rocks, Pa.; one daughter, Mrs. James (Nancy) McElrath of Halifax, Pa.; four sisters, Mrs. Lois Plank of Liberty RR, Pa., Mrs. Ethel Monk of Wellsboro, Pa., Mrs. Nellie Brace of Wellsboro and Mrs. Minnie Mitstifer of Liberty RR; one brother, Leslie Moyer of Belfont, Pa. and six grandchildren.  The funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2, 1993 at 11 a.m. in the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter St., Dushore, Pa. with the Rev. MOYER –WANDA MOYER BROWN - Millerton, PA resident died Sunday, December 14, 2003, at her daughter's home in Mandeville, LA.  Wanda was born in Marsh Hill, PA, the daughter of the late Walter Moyer and Nora Ziegler Moyer.  She is the widow of James M. Brown and is survived by her three children, John Brown of Watkins Glen, NY; Sarah Everett of Reno, NV; and Susan Brown-Sandberg of Mandeville, LA; one daughter-in-law, Dannie Griffiths Brown of Watkins Glen, NY; one son-in-law, Philip Sandberg of Mandeville, LA; five grandchildren, Megan Brown of Vernon, CT; Kristen Brown Weinberger of Fairfax, VA; Bethany Brown of Watkins Glen, NY; Patrick Everett of Incline Village, NV; and Christopher Everett of San Jose, CA; two great-grandchildren, Nicole Everett and Kevin Everett, both of Incline Village, NV; one sister, Patricia Moyer Vanzile and brother-in-law, Jim Vanzile, both of Charlotte NC; and their children, Cinda Howard, Linda Meyers, and David Vanzile of South Dayton, NY; and Daniel and John Vanzile of Charlotte, NC.  She is also survived by her brother-in law, William Brown, and his wife Marguerite, of Duncannon, PA, and their children and grandchildren.  Wanda liked to travel, was active in her church, and loved her family and village. MULNO –MRS. DOLLY MAE HAFER, 82 a resident of the Bradford county Manor, formerly of Canton died Wednesday, June 22 at the Manor.  Mrs. Hafer was born March 10, 1906 at Eldredsville, Sullivan County, the daughter of Wallis and Florence Rienhard Mulno.  She was a member of Buchanan Baptist Church, Williamsport RD 2.  Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Charles V. and Maria Kunzman of Camp Hill, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Williams and Mrs. Emma Chapman, both of Canton and Mrs. Marion Broughton of Wellsboro; two brothers, Luther Mulno of New York and John Mulno of Canton; a grandson, Karl Kunzman of Mechanicsburg; 10 additional grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husbands, John Kunzman in 1944 and Hiram Hafer in 1970.  Also predeceasing her was a son, Lewis W. Kunzman on August 1, 1986.  Funeral and committal services will be Saturday, June 25 at 1 p.m. at the Morse and Kleese Funeral Home, 40 N. Center St., Canton with the Rev. Jasper Smith a retired United Methodist minister officiating.  Interment will be in the Buchanan Cemetery, Williamsport RD 2.  Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from noon until the time of the service.  –Towanda Daily Review

MUNDRICK –BETTY L. SCHODT, 59, South Williamsport died January 2, 1997 at Williamsport Hospital after being stricken at home.  Born April 13, 1937 at Bodines, she was a daughter of Emerson C. and Emma Wettlaufer, Mundrick.  She had been employed by Pennsylvania Wire Rope, the former Weldon’s and Wundries, was a member of Ridgeview Evangelical Free Church, Northumberland.  Surviving are four daughters; Kathy E. Brogan, Jacksonville, FL, Cynthia M. Roller, South Williamsport, Patricia A. Bee, Salladasburg and Sherry L. Schodt, South Williamsport; two brothers, Fred Mundrick, Canton and Harry Mundrick, Ralston; six grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Robert and sister, Edith Jarett.  The funeral was held at Spitler’s Funeral Home, Montoursville with her pastor, the Rev. Frank Chivaletts officiating.  Burial will be in Pennsdale Cemetery.  –Canton Independent Sentinel

LEO J. MURPHY, 64 of Providence St., Waverly died Tuesday, April 23, 1991 at the Robert Packer Hospital.  Born June 16, 1926 in Sayre, he was a son of the late Mark and Carrie Morton Murphy.  He married the former Theresa Raymond on Sept. 29, 1950.  Mr. Murphy was employed as a machinist for the Ingersoll rand in Athens, retiring in 1976 due to health reasons.  He served with the U.S. Army in Japan and served in the Korean conflict.  He was a member of the Waverly Hook and Ladder.  Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife at home; two daughters, Mrs. David (Carolyn) Wilcox of Elmira and Mrs. Cathy Bailey of Waverly; two sons, Patrick of Endicott and Robert of Waverly; nine grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Rosemarie Barton of Sayre and one brother, Paul of Waverly.  He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Evans.  Friends may call at Allgeier & Blauvelt Funeral Home, 445 Waverly St., Waverly, N.Y. Friday from 7-9 p.m.  A prayer service will be held there Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John’s Catholic Church, S. Waverly with the Rev. Vincent Langan officiating.  Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Waverly where full military honors will be accorded.  –Towanda Daily Review

MUSE –JESSIE M. BASTIAN, 83 formerly of Muncy RR3 and 102 Logan Lane, Hughesville died Thursday, October 11, 2001.  Her husband of 54 years, Elwood M. Bastian died March 7, 2001.  She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran (Brick) Church in Montgomery and also a member of the Every Ready Bible class where she attended until her illness.  She was a member of the Blind Association.  Her hobbies were spending time with her family and her grandson, Chandler.  She was born on November 29, 1917 in Glouster, VA the daughter of Charles and Mary Muse.  Surviving are her two daughters, Mrs. Fonda Jane (Robert) Stamets of Montgomery and Mrs. Sara Fae (Gary) Hmurcik of Kirkwood, NY.  Also surviving is a grandson, Chandler Hmurcik.  She is predeceased by a sister, Fonda Scott.  The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran (Brick) Church, Montgomery with her pastor, Rev. Scott W. Baker officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery following the services.  Friends received at church from 1-2 p.m.  The family will provide the flowers and suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church Building Fund, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, PA.  McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville is in charge of arrangements.  –Williamsport Sun-Gazette

MYERS –LUCILLE C. CASE, 85 of Manor Care Health Services South, former resident of Rose Valley died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001 at Manor Care.  Her husband, Kenneth R. Sr. died in 1976.  Born Oct. 15, 1915 in Porter Twp., she was a daughter of Thomas & Louisa Kaiser Myers.  She attended Rose Valley United Methodist Church, was a homemaker and an avid bingo player.  Surviving are a son, Kenneth R. Jr. of East Berlin; a daughter, Helen M. Baney of Trout Run; 13 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 stet-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and a sister, Lena Seyler of Mackeyville.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth M. Houseknecht, June 28, 2000.  The funeral service will be at the church on Saturday, 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sandi Foster officiating.  Interment in the church cemetery.  Contributions may be made to the church, P.O. MYRICK –EDNA (MYRICK) ROTE, 85 of Interlaken, N.Y. died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003 at her home.  Born Feb. 5, 1918 in Grover she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Sarah Parker Myrick.  Surviving are a son, Edward A. Rote of Interlaken; daughters, Patricia Brunk of Ithaca and Debbie (Terry) Smith of York, S.C.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Sechrist of N.Y. and daughter-in-law, Mary Rote of Interlaken.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rote Sr. in 1986 and by her son, Charles Rote Jr. in 1996.  It was Edna’s request that there be no calling hours.  A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Covert Funeral Home, 9 Washington St., Trumansburg, N.Y. –Towanda Daily Review

ROLAND MYRICK, 55 of Strong’s Christian Home, Morris Run, formerly of Roaring Branch RD 1 died Monday, December17, 1990 at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital, Wellsboro.  He was born August 14, 1935 in McNett Twp., Lycoming Co., a son of Archie Myrick and Eva Loper.  He is survived by a sister, Daisy Myrick, Roaring Branch RD 1 and several cousins.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 22 at 2 p.m. in the Grover United Methodist Church.  The Rev. Richard Leonard will officiate.  Interment will be at South Port Crematorium, South Port, NY.  Arrangements will be under the direction of Morse and Kleese Funeral home, Canton.  –Canton Independent Sentinel

D. MILES NEAL, 88, long-time resident of Roaring Branch (Union Twp.) died with his family by his side October 17, 2004, Troy Community Hospital.  Born March 19, 1916 in Liberty, PA he was a son of the late Daniel and Flora (Mase) Neal.  In addition to working on the family’s farm he would walk about five miles from his home near Gleason to work at a sawmill in the area of Fallbrook, Armenia Mt. then home again to do chores.  In 1937 Miles and the former Alberta “Scrub” Austin were married.  Together they shared over 65 years of marriage until her passing on November 17, 2002.  Through life he was no stranger to hard work.  He was a dairy farmer all his life and remained active until his death.  A true caretaker of the land, he and Alberta took great pride in their farm and animals.  Miles also cherished the time shared with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mr. Neal was a 50-year member of the Holstein Association and was a member of the Ogdensburg Church of Christ.  Surviving are sons and a daughter-in-law, William and Dorothy Neal, Bud Neal, all of Roaring Branch; daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and John Kerrick, Roaring Branch, Jean and Carl Young, Sylvani9a; grandchildren; Bill Jr. (Kim) Neal, Ron (Lisa) Neal, Mike (Paula) Neal, Sally Neal, Chad (Jen) Neal, Jana (Daniel) Hughes, Jamie Kerrick, Jennifer (Alan) Brown, Jeff (Jennifer) Kerrick, Karie Young and Kristy Young; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.  In addition to his beloved wife, he was predeceased by brother, Clifford Neal and sister, Carrie Brown.  In keeping with Mr. Neal’s wishes services will be private.  Those who wish may direct memorials to a charity of one’s choice.  Arrangements are under the care of Pepper Funeral Home, Canton, PA.  –Canton Independent Sentinel

GUY NEARING, known throughout New Jersey and metropolitan New York as a horticulturist, lecturer and author, died March 19, 1986 at the age of 96 of cardiac arrest at the Troy Community Hospital, Troy.  His home since 1980 was in nearby Ulster.  He was an active member of the American Rhododendron Society and gained fame for his success in hibridizing rhododendrons.  He was also active in the North American Mycological Association and an authority on mushrooms.  Mr. Nearing was the author of “The Lichen Book” containing 700 of his own drawings.  He was born in Morris Run, Tioga County, in northern Pennsylvania, where his grandfather was co-owner and superintendent of a coal mine there and his father managed the company store.  He graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania in 1911 where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, did graduate work there and at Harvard and Columbia Universities.  He served in the Army in 1917-18.  Mr. Nearing was a successful landscape painter, author of six books of poetry and a chess master.  One of his hobbies was dancing which he pursued with New Jersey folk clubs until his late eighties.  Many articles appeared in the “New York Times” and “The New Yorker” about the Mycophile Society’s dinners, featuring different varieties of mushrooms, which were held annually in New York City restaurants and organized by Mr. Nearing.  He owned a nursery in Ridgewood, N.J. for his experimental work and moved it to Ramsey, N.J. until he retired in 1980.  His brother, Dr. Scott Nearing, known nationally for his philosophy of simple rural life and self sufficiency died at the age of 100 in 1983 in Maine.  Guy is survived by four nieces and nephews, Mrs. Osmun Skinner and Robert Nearing of Troy, Pa., Mrs. John T. Elfvin of Buffalo, N.Y. and Edward VanDyne of Elmira.  –Towanda Daily Review

NEILEY –ELEANOR E. BREWSTER, 74 formerly of the Wyalusing area died Thursday, February 23, 1995 at the Bradford County Manor following an illness.  She was born on May 4, 1920 in Sugar Run, the daughter of the late Roy and Florence Dodge Neiley of Homets Ferry, Wyalusing Township.  She had a great love for her family and the care they required.  She enjoyed to read and sew if she had the time and also enjoyed traveling.  Mrs. Brewster is survived by her husband, William G. Brewster Sr., who resides in Towanda; a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William G. Brewster, Jr. of Homets Ferry; sons-in-law and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Edward (Betty) McGuire of Rome and Mr. and Mrs. Allen (Nancy) Beeman of Denver, Colo.; a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Brewster of Milan; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; three brothers, Allen Roy Neiley of Herrickville, James Neiley of Wysox and Richard Neiley of Homets Ferry and two sisters, Mrs. James Hatfield of Kirkwood, N.Y. and Mrs. Herbert Preston of Camptown, Pa.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 1995 at 2 p.m. in the Kerr-McHenry Funeral Home, 106 Church St., Wyalusing with the Rev. NESBIT –EDNA REBECCA NESBIT BAGLEY, 97 of 102 Packer Ave., Towanda went home to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 26, 2001 at the Highlands Nursing home, LaPorte where she had been a resident since August of 2000.  Born Aug. 30, 1903 in Balli Bay, Pa. she was the eldest of seven children of the late Lewis and Cora Bell Swackhammer Nesbit.  In 1921, Edna married Boyd Oscar Bagley.  They resided in Millerton, Pa. until they moved to Westfield, Ind.  Boyd and Edna had one son, Harold LaRue Bagley who served in the military during World War II.  Shortly after returning home, he was killed in a tragic auto accident in 1946.  In the 1950s they purchased a farm in Ulster, where they raised Black Angus cattle.  After her husband’s death in 1955 she continued to care for the farm with the help of her family.  In 1960 she moved to 102 Packer Ave. in Towanda where she resided for the past 40 years until she became a resident of the Highlands Nursing Home in LaPorte.  Edna had a devoted companion for the last seven years who was always at her side, her dog, Mollie.  People will remember seeing Edna and her dog as they took their daily walks in North Towanda.  Edna came from a very close family.  She and her five sisters would get together at least once a month for dinners.  Following the passing of her sisters, with the exception of her youngest sister, Marge, Edna would attend the Wysox Presbyterian Church with Marge.  They would be joined by their sister-in-law Esther Pipher.  After church the would go out for dinner and later return to Esther’s home to play cards, a weekly event that continued until Marge’s death in 1998.  Edna’s health had also begun to decline at that time.  Edna’s caregiver and niece, Saundra Weber provided her with much love and care.  Edna enjoyed spending time with her dog, Mollie at the Weber home in Forksville.  Edna had wonderful neighbors, Ted and Ethel Thetga, who would watch out for her as well as her loving family.  She greatly enjoyed being visited by members of the Wysox Prayer Circle while in the nursing home.  Edna will always be remembered for her love of God, strong will and zest for life.  She was a member of the Wysox Presbyterian Church and was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star in Westfield, Ind.  Surviving are a stepson and his wife, William and Kati Bagley of Shelbyville, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Marie Harbst of Athens; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by a brother, George Lewis Nesbit; five sisters, Dora Nesbit O’Neil, Florence Shaffer, Mary Kisner, Gertrude Kelley and Marjorie Nesbit Barns; and a stepdaughter, Maxine Goodrich.  The funeral and committal service will be held Friday, March 2, 2001 at 6 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda with the Rev. Roger Griffith, pastor of the Wysox Presbyterian Church officiating.  Interment will be later in the Summit Lawn Cemetery, Washington Township, Hamilton County, Indiana.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Friday evening at the funeral home.  The family will provide flowers.  –Towanda Daily Review

NESBITT –MRS. DORIS NESBITT GREEN KLINGENSMITH, 87, New Castle, PA died on January 7, 2003 at the Avalon Nursing Facility, New Castle after an illness.  Born in Laquin on April 12, 1915 she was the daughter of the late Llewellyn Nesbitt and the late Pauline Kobbe Nesbitt.  During World War II she worked at J.P. Ward as a bushing machine operator in Blossburg.  She was a member of Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church and also had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star Lodge #205, WIMODAUSIS, and the Pithian sisters.  She was an active member in the Castlewood Homemakers and The Ladies Auxiliary of Eagles #455 New Castle.  Mrs. Klingensmith had been a member of the Ogdensburg Grange for over 60 years and was a former member of the Ellmwood City Amateur Radio Association.  Surviving are her husband Cyrus M. Klingensmith , whom she married May 3, 1952 in Ogdensburg, PA; one daughter, A. Marie Kennedy, Elmira, NY; sons, James Klingensmith, Ellwood City and Richard Klingensmith, Waycross, GA; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Vera Snyder, Duncannon, PA.  She was preceded in death in addition to her parents and her first husband, Andrew W. Green, by one son, Robert Green; brother, Fred Nesbitt and sisters, Lilia Jackson and Jean Peabody.  Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Turner Funeral Home, Ellwood City.  A private service will be held at a later date.  Burial will be in Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice.  –Canton Independent Sentinel

MR. KERMIT L. NESSLEIN age 81 of RR 1, Box 51, Laceyville, Pa. (Silvara) died at his home Thursday morning, Aug. 29, 1996 after a long illness.  Born in North Hampton, Mass., on Oct. 14, 1914 he was the son of the late Louis J. and Lillian Warner Nesslein.  Mr. Nesslein was a milk tanker driver for A.B. Cole of Meshoppen, Pa. for many years and was later employed by Garden State Farms of Midland Park, N.J. until his retirement.  He was a member of the Silvara Community Church and in his spare time he enjoyed baseball, bowling and golf.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Brotzman Nesslein, who died in August 1994; a daughter, Darlene Profitt who died in September 1993 and a son, Michael Nesslein who died in January 1996.  He is survived by a son, David L. Nesslein of Midland Park, N.J.; daughters, Alynne R. Nesslein of Waldwick, N.J. and Teen Willis of Waldwick, N.J.; a son-in-law, Jim Profitt of Silvara, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Nesslein of Laceyville, Pa.; a sister, Eleanor Clapper of Ithaca, N.Y.; brothers, Ralph and Robert Temple, both of Providence, R.I.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 31, 1996 at 2 p.m. at the Silvara Community Church with the Rev. NEVILLE –JUNE MARIE BEDFORD, 57 of Forksville, Pa. died on Thursday June 15, 1995 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa. following an illness.  Born on June 20, 1937 in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pa. she was a daughter of Alton and Grace Neville.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Scranton, Pa. and was a member of its choir for many years and loved to sing.  Surviving are her husband, Harold Bedford at home; stepdaughters; Carla Severs and Darnell Husted; six step-grandchildren, a mother-in-law, Sylvia Bedford and many aunts, uncles and cousins in the Scranton area.  The funeral service will be held on Monday June 19, 1995 at 9 a.m. in the Russell P. GEORGE E. NORTHRUP, 52 of Towanda RR4, Monroe Township died on Friday, Feb. 21, 2003 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.  Born July 26, 1950 in Sayre, he was a son of the late Cedric A. and Alice Benjamin Northrup Sr.  George attended Towanda High School.  He was employed by several area farms and also provided landscaping services for area families.  George enjoyed small engine repair work and working outdoors.  He loved hunting and fishing.  Surviving are: six sisters and brothers-in-law; Beverly and David Getz of Mildred, Pa.; Barbara and Dennis Smouse of Monroeton, Pa., Rita and Ed Howell of New Albany, Pa., Becky and Jerome Pedro of Mildred, Pa., Peggy Fulmer of Wysox, Pa., Cindy Capwell of New Albany, Pa.; a brother, Tom Northrup of Liberty Corners, Towanda RR4, Pa. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Robert and Cedric Northrup Jr.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2003 at 10 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda with the Rev. NORTON LACEY, 27 of Mildred died Thursday evening, Oct. 2, 1986 at the Memorial Hospital, Towanda as the result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident last Sunday.  She was born March 21, 1959 in Blossburg, Pa. the daughter of Paul E. and Margaret M. (Marge) Brown Norton, Sr.  She had attended Sullivan County High School and had lived most of her lifetime in Sullivan County area.  She was an avid ringtoss player.  Surviving in addition to her parents, Paul and Margaret Norton, are her husband, John Lacey of Mildred; two sons; John and Paul Lacey of Mildred; a brother, Paul E. Norton, Jr. of Mildred; three sisters, Mrs. Joanne Finagan, Mine Hills, N.J., Mrs. Larry (Della) Lambert, Miss Jeanette Norton, both of New Albany and several aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Russell P. NORTON –LULA I. BEDFORD, 79 of Elkland Township, New Albany RD 2 died Sunday afternoon December 18, 1983 at the Robert Packer Hospital following a lingering illness.  She was born Feb. 27, 1904 in Elkland Township the daughter of the late Edward and Marilla Hart Norton.  She was a lifetime resident of Sullivan County and member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Hugo Corners and a member of the B.E.F. Club.  Her late husband, Seymour Bedford died July 25, 1971.  Surviving are three sons, Dale E. of Forksville RD 1, Richard S. of Albany RD 1 and Bryce O. of New Albany; one sister, Mrs. Meryl Battin of Shunk and eight grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held Thursday 11 a.m. at the Russell P. NOVOSEL –MARY A. TABOR, 77 of Sugar Hill, Cherry Township, Sullivan County died Monday evening, September 10, 1987 at her home.  She was born in Luzerne on March 17, 1910 a daughter of Anthony M. and Mary Mahan Novosel.  She came to Sullivan County in 1920 and married Joseph G. Tabor on Aug. 28, 1944.  He predeceased her on Jul y12, 1985.  She worked for 11 years as a cook for the Sullivan County High School in LaPorte.  She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Mildred.  Surviving are two sons; John J. of Russellville, Ky. And Patrick A. of Dushore; a daughter, Mrs. Alfred (Mary) Pinchak of Cleveland, Ohio; a brother, Matthew J. Novosel of Dushore; two sisters; Mrs. Anna Baer of Dushore and Mrs. Teresa Higley of Cumberland, Md.; 14 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a brother, Michael in 1979 and a sister, Matilda Brown in 1958.  The funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 10 from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred with the Rev. Paul M. GROVER C. (BUCK) OLIVER, SR., 73, Williamsport, PA died at Manor Care South, September 26, 2002 following an extended illness.  He retired after 42 years with Eastern Wood Products and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  Born February 12, 1929 in Barclay, he was a son of Donald L. and Nolla E. Barnett Oliver.  Surviving are children, David, Williamsport, Edward M., Trout Run, Grover C. (Buck) Jr., Cogan Station, Alan B., Hughesville, Joan Oliver, Williamsport, Wendy J. Bailey, Montoursville; brothers, Franklin D., Canton and Jessie J., Ralston, 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his wife the former Joan M. OLSON –ETHEL LORRAINE ‘LORRAINE’ PACKARD age 84 of Brooksville FL and formerly of Elmira, died on Tuesday, May 28, 2002 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Elmira, NY.  Lorraine was born January 5, 1918 to the late Oscar L. and Mabel (Somers) Olson in Highland Falls, NY.  She was raised in Berkeley Springs, WV and Endicott, NY until her marriage to Eldon Robert Packard "Bob" on February 23, 1941.  Bob predeceased her on September 18, 1977.  They resided in Elmira until moving to Brooksville, FL in 1984.  Most recently, Lorraine lived at Bethany Village Courtyards in Horseheads, NY. Lorraine is survived by her children, William (Janet Cox) Packard of Washington, WV, Judith (Robert) Harris of Swanzey, NH, Douglas (Kathy Strawn) Packard of Horseheads, NY, Pamela (Stephen) Balmer of Schuylerville, NY and Gretchen Crumb of Fairport, NY; brothers, William (Betty) Olson of Kissimmee, FL and Oscar "Jack" (Betty) Olson of North Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Carolyn (Major Elwyn) Barnes of Cape Cod, MA, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and fifteen nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her brother, Donald Olson.  Lorraine worked for the NY Telephone (Bell) Company for many years, retiring in 1983 as a highly respected supervisor.  She was a member of the Westside United Methodist Church in Elmira and later the First United Methodist Church in Horseheads.  In Florida the Packard's were members of the Brooksville United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed square dancing and was accomplished at sewing, needlework, crafts and baking (especially rhubarb pie for which she was well known).  A memorial service for Robert and Lorraine is being planned by their children with details yet to be determined.  Lorraine will be buried in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL beside her husband, a WW II Navy Veteran.  In lieu of flowers those wishing may express their sympathy with memorials to one of the churches named above.  Arrangements are with the Barber Funeral Home, Horseheads. –Elmira Star Gazette

OMELION –ADA M. HURLBURT, 96, Clintonville, WI formerly of Troy, PA died December 8, 2003 at Pine Manor Health Care Center, Embarrass, WI.  The former Ada May Omelion was born August 25, 1907 in Mansfield, PA to Peter and Carrie (Ross) Omelion.  She was raised in Pennsylvania on her parents’ dairy farm.  She married Frank Morgan in Mansfield and later married Leon Brown and Harry Hurlburt, both in the Troy area.  Since the early 1940s she lived in Troy and in 1998 settled in Clintonville to be closer to her son.  Survivors include a son, Frank Morgan, Clintonville, WI; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Weller, Geneva, NY; step-children, step-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.  She is predeceased by three husbands; a daughter-in-law, Audrey Morgan; sisters, Bessie and Mary and a brother, Peter.  Private funeral services were held December 12 at the Bell-Didier Funeral home in Clintonville with the Rev. JOHN W. ‘JACK’ ORR, 76, Ralston, died June 16, 2001 at home. Born October 7, 1924 in Ralston, he was the son of Oscar P. and Amelia M. Orr.  Mr. Orr was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Ralston.  He was a graduate of the former Ralston High School and Penn State University, was employed by the Lowry Electric Co. and retired from Jones and Brague Mining Co. formerly of Blossburg.  Active in civic affairs, he was a justice of the peace for McIntyre Township, an officer and director of the former Ralston Water Co., a director of Citizens and Northern Bank, serving on the main board, regional board and the Ralston branch advisory board.  He was a life member of the Wheel Inn and the Red Run Rod and Gun Club of which he was a director and officer.  Recently he became a published author of the railroad book, Set Up Running.  Mr. Orr enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading.  Surviving are his wife of nearly 48 years, the former Mary L. Puterbaugh; sons, John P., Ralston, David M., Patton, PA and William B., Saugus, CA; daughter, Kathleen J. Morse, Cortland, N.Y.; eight grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Emily Spears and Betty Orr.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held June 21 at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Ralston with Father Richard Fox, pastor of the Blossburg Area Catholic Community serving as celebrant.  The family invites friends to call one hour prior to Mass.  Burial will be held in Ralston Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to Ralston Cemetery, P.O. ELDRIC H. PACKARD – The funeral will be Wednesday for Eldric H. “Red” Packard, 87 of 2140 Warrensville Road who died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998 at the Williamsport Hospital.  He was formerly of the 300 block of Union Avenue.  His wife of 54 years, the former Ruth L. Seidel died Dec. 26, 1986.  Retiring in 1976 he was a purchaser for the machine shop for 26 years at GTE Sylvania, former Montoursville plant.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and a former vestry member, senior warden and treasurer.  He managed the Bethune Douglass baseball team of the former Central League from 1948-55.  Born Aug. 4, 1911 in Canton he was a son of George A. and Jessie M. Hunt Packard.  Surviving are two sons, H. Wayne of Montoursville and Richard L. of State College; two brothers, G. Martin of Easley, S.C. and William H. of San Jose, Calif.; four grandsons and six great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by three brothers, Charles E., Harold F. and Robert F.  The service will be at 10:30 a.m. in the church, 908 Almond St. with the Rev. Dr. Eduardo Guerra, his priest officiating, assisted by his grandson the Rev. Jeffery A. PACKARD –ELIZABETH P. BARKALOW, 80 of Addison, NY died Friday, August 30, 1996 at Corning Hospital.  She was born April 9, 1916 in Canton a daughter of Niles Silas and Elizabeth Taber Packard.  She was married to James C. Barkalow.  He preceded her in death in 1965.  She was a graduate of Canton High School and Elmira Business Institute.  She was a member for over 50 years of the First Presbyterian Church and the Onwentsia Chapter DAR, also a member of the Tuscarora Chapter order of Eastern Star.  Prior to retirement she had been the office manager for Stiker’s Care and Properties.  She and her husband had owned and operated J. C. Barkalow Co. in Addison for 25 years.  She is survived by two daughters, Sherill (Mrs. William) Zuchero, Canoga Park, CA; Elizabeth Ann Barkalow, Addison, NY; a brother, James B. Packard, West Covina, CA; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including Richard Packard of Canton, a nephew.  She was predeceased by a son, William Packard Barkalow; a granddaughter, Anna Branwen Allen; a sister, Lillian Manley and a brother, Raymond Packard of Canton.  Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Flint Funeral Home, Addison.  The funeral was held September 2 at the funeral home with the Rev. PACKARD –KARLEEN PACKARD LAWRENCE, 92 of Harrisburg a native of Canton Township died Oct. 3, 1985 at Dauphin Manor, Harrisburg.  She was a retired employee of Bell of Pennsylvania and was a pharmacist.  Her first husband was Ray S. Wilcox who operated a drug store in New Albany where she assisted as a pharmacist.  A daughter of W. Frank and Carrie Porter Packard of Canton Township, she later married Rollin M. Lawrence who died several years ago.  She was a member o World Wide Church of God, Harrisburg.  Surviving are a sister, Grace P. Moyert of Lancaster and a brother, Hollis P. HENRY W. PALMETER –The funeral is Saturday for Henry W. “Hank” Palmeter, 87 formerly of Williamsport RR 1, who died Monday, Feb. 1, 199 at Manor Care Health Services.  His wife, the former Marjorie VanVolkenburg died in 1981.  He was an electrician and owner/operator of Appliance Service Center.  He was a member of Ivy Lodge 397, F&AM and the Williamsport Consistory.  Palmeter graduated from Williamsport High School in 1932.  Born Jan. 30, 1912 in Laquin, he was a son of Walter A. and Reba I. Warner Palmeter.  Survivign are four sons, Denice H. of Montoursville, Daniel J. of Muncy, Henry W. Jr. in Texas and Timothy A. in California; two daughters, Mabel L. Flowers and Rosalie Bird, both of Aledo, Texas and a sister, Beverly Neidlinger of Akron, Ohio.  A daughter, Melody Palmeter died in 1977.  The funeral will be at 10 a.m. at Maneval’s 500 W. MORGAN, 75 of Lincoln Falls, Forksville RD died March 3, 1986 in Divine Providence Hospital, Williamsport.  She was born July 2, 1910 in Lincoln Falls a daughter of Edson and Jessie McCarty Pardoe.  Mrs. Morgan was a member of the Lincoln Falls Wesleyan Church.  Surviving is her husband, John to whom she was married 47 years; two daughters, Mrs. Cliff (Donna) Hannah of Clyde, NC and Linda F. CLAYTON A. ‘JACK’ PARRY, 90 a former long time resident of Mt. Carmel, PA died May 1, 2006 at the Sylvan Ridge Nursing Home, Columbia Cross Roads.  Born April 10, 1916 in Mt. Carmel, he was the son of Clayton Sr. and Hattie (Frymoyer) Parry.  He was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.  Mr. Parry late honorably served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army.  He along with his wife, the late Florence (Frazik) Parry owned and operated a Grocery-Meat Market in Mt. Carmel for many years until their retirement.  Surviving are daughters, Joan (Jim) Denkenberger, Granville Summit and Halina (Tom) Platt, Hamden, CT; grandchildren, Scott and Susan Denkenberger, Emily and Frank Platt; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Services were private.  The Pepper Funeral Home, Canton is assisting the family with arrangements.  –Canton Independent Sentinel

PAULHAMUS –FLORENCE E. LONG, 83, formerly of Cogan Station died Tuesday, November 6, 2001 at Roes View Center following a lengthy illness.  Her husband of 50 years, Harold C. (Bud) Long died August 29, 1995.  She was employed at Weldon’s for 40 years and attended Quggleville U.M. Church.  Born May 1, 1918 in Cogan Station the daughter of Leonard & Minnie Quggle Paulhamus.  Surviving is a sister, Geraldine D. Delker of Cogan Station.  She was predeceased by a nephew she and her husband had raised following the death of his mother, Dorland J. Paulhamus, who died October 25, 1999; brothers, Arden, Kenneth, Romaine & Raymond and sisters, Beatrice Knerr, Irene Sechrist & Bernadine Dunn.  Funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Avenue with Rev. PEARL –MRS. ANGELINA P. VROMAN of Talcott Street, widow of Scott Vroman died on Monday, Jan. 25, 1932 at the Owego General Hospital after a short illness aged 53 years.  Her funeral was held yesterday afternoon at the chapel of Undertaker Fred B. Emens on Frost Street, Rev. William Meyer officiating.  The burial was in the Tioga Cemetery.  Mrs. Vroman was a daughter of Geo. Pearl and was born Aug. 31, 1878 in the town of Owego.  She had lived the last four years in this village.  Her husband died on Jan. 12 last.  She leaves no relatives nearer than cousins.

PEASE –ELEANOR F. PAGE, 98, died August 9, 2004 at the Green Home in Wellsboro.  Born March 25, 1906 in Lockport, NY, she was the daughter of Fayette E. and Olive Button Pease.  She graduated from Cornell University in 1929 and began her career as a school teacher in Athens and continued in Liberty as a home economics teacher.  Mrs. Page was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mansfield, the Delta Kappa Gamma, Pi Chapter and was a very family oriented person.  She was preceded in death by her husband, “Hap” in November of 1998 and a son, Edgar Page on September 10, 2003.  Surviving are daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara and Robert Cooper, Mansfield, Nancy Schoonover, Troy; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a sister, Doris Anson, Boca Raton, FL.  A private family memorial service was held at the family’s convenience.  The Jacquelyn A. Edwin St., Formerly of Ralston & Canton died Sunday, July 29, 2001 at Manor Care Health Services in Williamsport.  Born April 30, 1917 in Shamokin, she was the daughter of Archibald & Carrie Phillips.  She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Daniel & Eva Berger.  She and her husband, Donald L. Clark celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary Oct. 17.  Retiring in 1982, Marjorie had been employed by the Canton School District.  She was a graduate of Williamsport High School and was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Canton.  Surviving are 3 sons, Daniel P. of Ralston, Joseph Scott of Williamsport & Matthew J. of RD Canton; grandchildren, Deborah Mayer, Brad Miller & Christy Clark, all of Williamsport, Chris Clark, Cindy Black & Lisa Clark all of Ralston, Donald Clark & Matthew Clark, both of Canton, Robert Clark & Travis Clark, both of Hawaii and 6 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Clark.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Maneval Funeral Home, 500 W. 4th St. with the Rev. PICKETT –MRS. MARY BLACK, 81 of Main Street, LaPorte died at the Highlands in the early morning hours of March 18, 2002.  She was born Oct. 16, 1920 in Laceyville, the daughter of the late Clifford G. and Eva Manzer Pickett.  Mrs. Black was a graduate of Laceyville High School, class of 1938.  She was also a graduate of the Scranton Business College.  After college she was a secretary for the Pennsylvania State Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs.  Mrs. Black was a resident of LaPorte for many years.  While living in LaPorte she was a member of the LaPorte United Methodist Church, the Republican Women’s Club of Sullivan County and the LaPorte Women’s Club.  She was a past member of the LaPorte School Board.  She is survived by her husband of 58 years, William T. Black of Main Street, LaPorte, whom she married on July 8, 1943; son, Retired Lt. Col. James A. (Elizabeth) Black of Fayetteville, N.C.; daughters, Christina L. (Neil) Keller of Jersey Shore and Paula J. (Richard Holcombe of Novi, Mich.; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clifford Pickett in 1988.  Memorial graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2002 at the Lacey Street Cemetery in Laceyville with the Rev. ALLAN C. ‘BOOTS’ PIERCE 60, of 1745 Lincoln Dr., died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007 at home. He was born May 15, 1946 in Elmira, N.Y. and was the son of Allan C. Pierce, Sr. and Dorothy M. Davis Pierce.  Allan was a 1965 graduate of Elmira Southside High School.  He also attended numerous technical schools and had extensive training in the U.S. Army and Bureau of Prisons. He retired in 1998 from the Federal Bureau of Prisons where he was a supervisor.  Allan was a member of Loyalsock Township Volunteer Fire Co #1 where he served as a Fire Police and a Lieutenant. PIERCE –JEANETTE (PIERCE) STONE, 88 of Bartow, Fla., died due to a heart attack, Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the hospital in Winter Haven, Fla.  She was the wife of the late Lindley Stone and the daughter of the late W. Isreal and Edith Pierce.  Jeanette was born in Springfield, Pa. on Oct. 23, 1918. She graduated from Troy High School and Elmira Business College.  She married Lindley in 1939 and they raised three sons in Troy, Pa. Jeanette was a long time member of the Troy Baptist Church, was employed as borough secretary for many years, and worked at the Troy Hospital.  Jeanette was a highly respected lady in her hometown. After moving with her husband to Florida in 1976, she worked as a secretary for a real estate company for several years.  Her favorite things to do were knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends. Jeanette will be missed by many.   She is survived by sons Dale (Bobbie Ann) Stone of Haines City, FL; Larry (Leone) Stone of Denton, N.C.; Glenn (Cindy) Stone of Trinity, N.C.; sister-in-laws Evelyn Stone of Columbia Cross Roads, Pa. and Louise Pierce of Columbia Cross Roads, Pa.  She was preceded in death by brother, Charles Pierce and brother-in-law Harland Stone.  She is survived by 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, along with several cousins and nephews.  A Memorial Service to honor Jeanette's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in DeBary, Fla. Pepperman observed their 60th wedding anniversary on July 2.  He retired as a farmer in Upper Fairfield Township.  He was a member of Heilman United Methodist Church.  Born March 15, 1912 in Upper Fairfield Township, he was a son of George B. and Maggie E. POLETO –MRS. NELLIE M. STONE, 92 formerly of W. Seventh St. died Tuesday Oct. 24, 1995 in the Williamsport Home.  Her husband, Charles A. Stone died Nov. 19, 1969.  She was a member of Mater Dolorsa Catholic Church.  Born Jan. 2, 1903 in Jersey Shore, she was a daughter of Andrew and Stella Pagnotto Poleto.  Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marie L. Cumming of this city; two sister, Mrs. Lena Peluso of Jersey Shore and Mrs. Rose Weyers of Albany, N.Y.; two granddaughters, Karen Retorick and Cathy Cummings, and two great-grandsons.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church, 635 Hepburn St. with the Rev. POMEROY –MARY FRANCES ‘BABE’ (POMEROY) BROWN, 90 of High Street, Troy died November 17, 2004 at the Sylvan Ridge Personal Care Home.  Born in Troy, November, 1914 the daughter of the late D. F. and Nellie (Hillis) Pomeroy, she was a graduate of Troy High School and Penn State University.  She was married to the late Dr. Lawrence W. Brown, D.O. who died June 11, 2001.  In her younger years, she worked and was a volunteer as a teacher for the Martha Lloyd School and also was a home economics teacher for Troy High School.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Troy where she was a member of the choir, an elder, a deacon and den leader.  She was also a member of the Troy Music Club, the Troy Hospital Auxiliary, a supporter of the Troy Hospital and a dedicated supporter of the Penn State University Alumni Association.  Surviving are sons and grandchildren, Dr. William (Sharon) Stacey and Kristin Brown, Harrisburg; Peter (Cheryl), Alex, Cate and Will Brown, Swansea, MA; daughter and grandchildren, Becky (Rob) Scott and Michael Reider, LaPorte, IN; Betsy (Ray), Mark and Brian Seeley, Troy and a faithful niece, Ruth Deemy.  In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, D. EUGENE ‘MAX’ POTTER, 71, East Smithfield died March 6, 2000 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.  Born May 20, 1928 in East Smithfield, he was the son of the late Ted and Lucina Rockwell Potter.  He was a graduate of the East Smithfield High School, was a self-employed electrical contractor until his retirement in 1990.  For many years he worked at various job sites in the area and also throughout the state.  Mr. Potter was a member of the East Smithfield United Methodist Church, the Troy F&AM Lodge No. 306 and the IBW Union Local No. 81, Scranton.  He was an avid historian and enjoyed genealogy.  His main interest in life was spending time with his family and many friends.  On April 10, 1950 he married the former Chris Forbes.  She preceded him in death following 45 years of marriage.  Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robin and Linda Potter; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Kevin Fisk; four grandchildren, Rachel “Crissy2” and Adam “Brud” Potter, Christopher “Spike” and Jenny “Sque-Dunk” Fisk; brother, Robert Kennedy all of East Smithfield; sister, Mary Williams, Towanda; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Lucille Reagan and an infant brother, Glenn.  A memorial service will be held March 11 at the E. Smithfield Methodist Church with its pastor, Rev. POTTER –LOTTIE P. LITTLE, 88 of 7679 Route 96 Interlaken, N.Y. died Sunday, May 17, 1998 at home.  Her husband, Oney M. Little who died March 17, 1988.  She attended Nordmont schools.  She attended Seneca (N.Y.) Community Chruch.  Born March 30, 1910 in Sullivan County, she was a daughter of Charles and Minnie Fowler Potter.  Surviving are two sons, Charles O. of Muncy and Frederick of Newfield, N.Y.; three daughters, Barbara Ann Casebolt of Waterloo, N.Y., Audrey DeParde with whom she lived and Genevieve Wilson of Odessa, N.Y.; a brother, Jack Potter of Seneca Falls, N.Y.; two sisters, Edna Carner of Montezuma, N.Y. and Nellie Shepard of Muncy; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by two sons, LeRoy B. and Dennis W.  The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Wallis-Grenoble’s, 121 S. POTTER –MARTHA POTTER SCHAEFER – A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2006 for Martha Potter Schaefer, daughter of Dorna and Jim Potter and sister of Seran Potter of Ellenton, Pennsylvania.  The service will be held at the Ellenton Chapel at 1:00 p.m.  The family cordially opens the service and reception afterwards to any friends wishing to attend.  Martha Potter Shaefer died at the age of 85 on October 25, 2005 in Jupiter Florida.  She is survived by her greatest love and strength, her husband, Colonel William T. Schaefer.  Martha believed that she was the luckiest woman in the world and felt her greatest accomplishment was her children.  She received a Bachelor’s degree in English from Ohio State University and a Master’s in Education from the University of Pittsburgh where she was a long-time teacher and resident of Baldwin Whitehall.  As a teacher and poet, she expressed her love of life and compassion for people.  “Books and poetry opened up another facet of my life and I felt my books were truly helping people.”  Her books include Circles and Single Circles.  Left to cherish her memory are her husband Bill; her brother, Seran Potter and wife Ruth; her extended siblings; Lydia Olrogge and Avery Robbins; her children; LaDorna Pfaff and husband Gary, Leigh Turben and husband Daniel and James DePaul; her grandchildren; Kevin Connors, Anna Pfaff and Erica Pfaff.  Following the service, the family will hold a reception at the Holcombe House, 140 West Main Street, Troy, Pennsylvania.  Please join the family and friends in celebrating Martha’s life.  Copies of her books will be available for those who attend.  –Canton Independent Sentinel

Furman Prevost, who died on Aug. 31, 1992.  Warren was a graduate of the Meshoppen High School, class of 1953.  He later served in the U.S. Army as a private during the Korean War.  He was a general contractor in Meshoppen, Laceyville and surrounding areas for 29 years.  He was a rural mail carrier for the Meshoppen Post Office for the past 10 years.  He was a member of the Rought Hall American Legion Post No. 510 of Black Walnut, Pa., a member of the Meshoppen Rod and Gun Club and a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Association.  In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Besides his mother, he is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Barbara Prevost and Kelvin Salsman of Laceyville, Pa. and Beth and Craig Tiffany of Laceyville, Pa.; two sons, Russell (Rusty) and Sharon Prevost of Meshoppen, Pa. and Richie Prevost of Ridgefield, Conn. and Meshoppen, Pa.; a twin sister, Jean Jayne of Meshoppen, Pa., a brother, Robert Oliver of Meshoppen, Pa.; a special friend, Jean Ball of Meshoppen, Pa.; six grandchildren, Danica and Shane Salsman, Jonathan and Jessica Prevost and Kristin and Christopher Tiffany, also several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth (Bette) Grieve, who died on Aug. 10, 1997.  At Warren’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral service.  A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 18, 1999 at 11 a.m. at the Prevost Cemetery on Russell Hill, Pa. with the Rev. PRICHARD –ELSIE P. BROWN, 91 of Lovelton, PA died on Friday evening, Aug. 14, 1998 at her home in Lovelton.  She was born in Colley, Pa. on May 31, 1907 a daughter of the late Henry and Caroline Junk Prichard.  She married James A. Brown on Dec. 24, 1932.  They both worked their family farm on Viall Hill in Terrytown/Spring Lake area of Bradford County.  Elsie also worked for many years at GTE Sylvania from which she retired.  She loved her family and enjoyed being with them.  She was an accomplished seamstress and made many clothes for her daughters.  She also loved flowers and enjoyed gardening.  She was a member of the Wyalusing United Methodist Church and a member of the Sylvania Women’s Club.  Surviving are: two daughters and sons-in-law; Joan and Togle Marcucci of Cherryville, Pa., Donna and William Lutz of Lovelton; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.  Her husband, James A. Brown predeceased her on Dec. 5, 1985.  She was also predeceased by a grandson, Maurice Marcucci on Dec. 1, 1971, a brother, William Prichard of Stanley, N.Y. and sisters, Edna Otten of Colley and Laura Otten of Forkston, Pa.  Funeral and committal services will be held on Monday, Aug. 17, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the P. MYRON WILSON ‘BILL’ PROOF of Wyalusing, Pa. died suddenly (Aug. 12, 1997) at his home at the age of 69.  Bill was born on November 28, 1927 in Homets Ferry, Wyalusing Twp., the son of George and Dorothy Dodge Proof.  He was a 1945 graduate of Wyalusing Valley High School and a US Army veteran serving during WWII  During his life he worked in Wyalusing ACME Market for many years had had retired from the Cumberland Valley School District, after that he returned to the Wyalusing area.  He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Dorothy Dodge Proof; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Kerschner of Endicott, N.Y.; two brothers, Mr. Donald Proof of Springville, Pa. and Mr. Robert Proof of Wyalusing, Pa. and several nieces and nephews.  Bill was predeceased by his father, George Proof on Feb. 25, 1992.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 15, 1997 at 2 p.m. in the Kerr-McHenry Funeral Home, 106 Church St., Wyalusing, Pa. with the Rev. AMOS JAMES QUACKENBUSH, Columbia Township, PA died August 1, 1999 at his residence.  Born May 31, 1933 in Corning, NY, he was the son of the late Aaron R. Quackenbush and the late Edna M. (Hunt) Quackenbush Seymour.  He was employed for 20 years as a Diamond Core Driller for Sprague & Henwood, Inc., retiring in 1990.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping during his early years and will always be remembered as a hard working man who always had time for his family.  Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Janet Irene (McClure) Quackenbush, Columbia Township; daughters, Esther M. ASHLEY M. RANDALL age 17 of Gillett, PA died Thursday, November 14, 2002 as the result of an automobile accident.  She was born on November 3, 1985 in Towanda, PA the daughter of Ronald and Kristen (Kuster) Randall.  Ashley was a junior at the Troy High School where she was an excellent student and attempting to graduate early by doubling up on classes.  She had planned to attend Lackawanna College for night classes.  Ashley was also on the staff of the Trojan Crier newspaper.  She worked diligently on the farm of Mike Borek where she exhibited a strong work ethic. DEAN L. RANDALL – On the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005 lifelong Canton-area resident Dean Leslie Randall died quietly at Troy Community Hospital.  He was 65 years of age.  Born May 7, 1939 in Union Township, Tioga Co., Pa., he was the son of  Ollie Daniel and Louise Rita Mickle) Randall.  After graduating from Canton Area High School Dean enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in West Germany.  After returning to civilian life, Dean worked for a while at Masonite in Towanda and Swayze Folding Box Co. in Canton.  Later, he was employed by Pneumatic Division of North America in Canton.  Over the years, Dean had been a member of Canton Lodge No. 429 Loyal Order of Moose and a life member of Canton VFW Post No. 724.  He was also a member of Canton Lodge No. 415 Free and Accepted Mason, as well as the AASR, both in the Valley of Towanda and the Valley of Williamsport and the Red Run Rod and Gun Club.  Dean is survived by his brothers, Ollie (and Beatrice) Randall of Canton and Donald Randall of Millerton and nieces, Mary Brown and Katherine Randall and a nephew, Daniel Randall all of Canton.  The viewing will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21 at the Morse and Kleese Funeral home, Inc., 40 N. RATHBUN –DOROTHY R. FENTON age 93 of Woodsedge Drive, Lansing, NY, died at 8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 4, 2004, at her residence. Dorothy was the only daughter of the late Glenn and Emma Mead Rathbun.  She was united in marriage with Ray Fenton in 1937.  Their entire married life was spent in the Town of Hector, NY living in Logan, Burdett and later they purchased a home in Bennettsburg. After Ray's death in 1953, Dorothy went to work in the Watkins Glen Central School cafeteria and worked there until her retirement.  In 1977, she moved to Lansing where she resided until the time of her death.  She was a member of The Lansing United Methodist Church and a resident of Woodsedge Senior Housing for many years and enjoyed many special friendships.  Among her many interests were sewing, crocheting, knitting, cooking and gardening.  Survivors include her son, Carlton (Carol) of Interlaken, NY, Arlene (Vaughn) Selby of Lansing; her grandchildren, Mary (Steve) Seymour, Allison (Joe) Le Jeune, Orry and Jonathan Selby; great grandchildren, Amanda, Melissa and Ryan Seymour; many nieces, nephews; one cousin, June Shannon of Chicago, IL; and many friends.  One niece, Carol Rathbun, was brought up by Dorothy from the time she was four years old. RAWLEY, 81 of 707 Church St., Athens died Saturday, May 13, 2000 at the Towanda Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.  Born Dec. 13, 1918 in Sayre she was a daughter of Doc Cross and Nina Lewis Rawley.  She was a graduate of Athens High School class of 1936 and the Rochester Business Institute.  She was employed by the Ingersoll Rand Athens for over 40 years as secretary to the general manager.  She was a member of the Sayre Presbyterian Church.  She is survived by her sister, Jane Rawley of Athens and a cousin, Peg Efraimson of Ovid, N.Y. and her special friends, Tom Colegrove and Ken Gregory, both of Athens.  Family and friends may call Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Lowery Funeral home, 225 S. HOWARD C. REED, 72 of Forks Township, Dushore RD died Jan. 5, 1988 at his home following an apparent heart attack.  He was born July 16, 1915 in Hillsgrove a son of William and Ethel Norton Reed.  A lifetime resident of Sullivan County, he served in the US Air Force during World War II.  He was stationed in Italy and was awarded the Purple Heart.  He was a member of Loyalsock Post 996, American Legion of Dushore, The Eagles Lodge of Towanda and The Endless Lodge of Towanda and The Endless Mountains Citizens Band Radio Club.  For many years he was employed by The Pennsylvania Department of Highways and had been a farmer most of his life.  For some time he was employed at the McCarty and Driscoll Lumber Company, Forksville and for many years was a Sullivan County school bus driver.  He retired in 1980.  Surviving are two brothers, Harry of Endicott, NY and Kenneth of Williamsport; four sisters, Gertrude Gleockler of Kissimmee, FL, Helen Ryder of Spencerport, NY, Betty Landon of Painted Post, NY and Yvonne Cook of St. Cloud, FL.  Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Russell P. MAURICE R. REEDER JR., 74 of Hillsgrove, Pa. died Thursday, May 10, 2001 at Sunbury Community Hospital.  He was born Oct. 5, 1926 a son of Maurice R. Reeder Sr. and Helen McCoy Reeder.  Maurice was a 1944 graduate of Williamsport High School and an original member of the 1939 Lundy Lumber Little League Team.  He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, having reached the rank of sergeant.  He served in the military police in the Pacific Theater.  He was a member of numerous Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts and was very active in the American Legion Post 996 in Dushore.  He was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman.  He enjoyed hunting, fly fishing, gardening and cooking.  His wife, Carmela S. DiMarco died Dec. 30, 1990.  He is survived by his sons, Gary M. of Lewisburg, Mark W. of Cogan Station, Pa. and Linn P. of Williamsport, Pa.; daughters, Maureen J. Pagana of Selinsgrove, Pa. and Michele H. Reeder of Williamsport; brothers, Marvin Reeder of Williamsport and Jeffrey C. ROBERT D. ‘BOB’ REESE, 73, Ralston, PA died August 7, 1998 from a heart attack which resulted in a motor vehicle accident on Rt. 15, Lycoming County.  Born April 13, 1925 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late Frank and Dorothy Hennessy Reese.  He was employed by Textron (Avco Lycoming) for 37 years until his retirement in 1987.  On May 3, 1952 he married the former Florence Starr in St. Aloysius Church, Ralston.  He was an avid walker and sports enthusiast.  Memberships include St. Aloysius Church and Ralston Fire Co. Station No. 17.  He was instrumental in organizing Ralston’s Little League and Boy Scouts.  Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Florence at home; children and their spouses, Steven K. Reese, Madison, WI, Gale and John Orr, Ralston, David and Steva Reese, High Spring, FL, Charles I. Reese, Blossburg, Gladys and Jay Perry, Canton, Michele S. Reese and her special friend, Larry Moltedo, both of Gainesville, FL, Michael S. Reese, Hazleton and A. MORRIS SAMUEL REIDY age 78 of College Avenue in Gibson, went home to be with his Lord on August 18, 2004. Morris was born in Elmira on July 22, 1926, the son of Walter and Marion (Robinson) Reidy. He married Pauline Tong Lee on August 8, 1956 in Canton, PA. He retired in 1989 from Corning Inc. where he had worked as a Quality Control Inspector for 38 years. Morris was an active and devoted member of the North Baptist Church in Corning. Morris was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Reidy; and a sister, Frances Jane. He is survived by his wife, Pauline at home; one sister, Lorraine (Don) McIntosh of Lowman; uncle, Walter Robinson of Fredericksburg, VA; several nieces and nephews. RHONE –JENNIE E. FOUST, 81 of Watsontown RR 2 died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.  She had been in ill health for four weeks.  Foust and her husband, Max operated the Susquehanna Fire Equipment Co., Dewart.  He died June 29, 1984.  She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.  Born May 20, 1917 at Elimsport, she was a daughter of William and Ella Jones Rhone.  Surviving are two sons, Max and Keith, both of Watsontown; a daughter, Linda Confer of Milton; two brothers, Harold Rhone of Cogan Station and Stanley Rhone of Allenwood; a sister, Nancy Rhone Decker of Montgomery; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Rhone.  The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Barr’s, 124 Main St. with the Rev. RIALE –MRS. ELLA M. COLLISTER, 80 of 612 East Second Avenue, South Williamsport died Monday, Aug. 1, 1966 in Williamsport Hospital.  She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.  Surviving are two sons, Howard of Tucson, Ariz.; John of Duboistown; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Zellers of Benson, Ariz.; Mrs. Merritt Shaffer of Montoursville; a brother, Edward Riale and a sister, Mrs. Florence Cahn, both of this city; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Burial was in Wildwood Cemetery.

SEELYE, 78, Montoursville died January 15, 1994 in Divine Providence Hospital.  Born August 22, 1915 in Salladasburg she was the daughter of Jacob and Rose Richards.  She was a member of Faith U.M. Church, Montoursville; former member and lay speaker at Trout Run UM Church and retired as an inspector at the former Ray-O-Vac plant in South Williamsport.  Surviving are her husband, John Harold Seeley; one son, Donald R. JACOB “JACK” RICHARDS, 78 Roaring Branch, PA died unexpectedly on March 25, 2005 at the Troy Community Hospital.  Born in Larryville, PA February 17, 1927 he was a son of the late Jacob A. Sr. and Rose (Heinlin) Richards.  He left high school early to enlist in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during WWII and Korean Wars.  Jack and the former Shirley Roupp were untied in marriage in Williamsport on August 14, 1959.  He was a 35 year employee of the Avco Lycoming-Textron Company in Williamsport where he retired as a foreman in 1987 and worked as a Deputy Game Warden of Tioga County for 25 years.  Mr. Richards was a life member of Liberty’s V.F.W. Wilson American Legion Post 572, Blossburg, Deer Crossing Marine Corps League, Hillside Rod & Gun Club in Blossburg and Red Run Rod & Gun Club, Ralston.  He believed in living life to its fullest.  He enjoyed woodworking and metalworking.  In earlier years he was an avid outdoorsman and liked to hunt and fish.  Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Shirley at home; children, Linda Henry, Sierra Vista, AZ, Daniel (Gloria) Richards, St. George, KS, Jacob III “Buck” (Norma) Richards and Jamie Richards, all of Roaring Branch, Mark Richards, Winter Garden, FL; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret (Glen) Pratt, Marsh Hill, Patricia Harer, East Point; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Frances Richards, Larryville and Robert English, Virginia Beach, VA; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was predeceased by his sisters, Charlotte Seeley, Eva Caputo, Jean English and brothers, Paul and Jamie “Jim” Richards.  In keeping with Mr. Richards’ wishes services will be private.  The Pepper Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.  Those who wish may direct memorials to the American Cancer Society, 1948 Third St., Williamsport, PA or Western Alliance E.M.S., P.O. JAMIE RICHARDS, 41 of Roaring Branch died early Tuesday morning, May 3, 2005 following a courageous battle with cancer.  Jamie Earl Richards was born July 25, 1963 in Williamsport.  He was a son of Shirley (Roupp) Richards and the late Jacob “Jack” Richards.  Jamie graduated from the Canton High School class of 1981.  In 1983 he entered the U.S. Air Force where he remained for 20 years until retiring in 2003.  While in the service, Jamie honorably served our country during Desert Storm.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.  All those whose life he touched will dearly miss Jamie.  Surviving are his mother, Shirley of Roaring Branch; two brothers, Jacob III “Buck” (Norma) Richards of Roaring Branch and Mark Richards of Winter Garden, FL; a half-brother, Daniel (Gloria) Richards of St. George, KS; a half-sister, Linda Henry of Korea; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  His father Jacob “Jack” Richards preceded him in death on March 25, 2005.  Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.  Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 1948 Third St., Williamsport, PA in Jamie’s loving memory.  Services were under the direction of Pepper Funeral Home, Canton, PA.  –Canton Independent Sentinel

RIPLEY –ETHEL (RIPLEY) BALDWIN - Retired Special Education Teacher age 101 resident of Chemung County Nursing Facility, died Sunday, May 27th, 2001 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Elmira. She was born the daughter of Silas and Ida (Hoagland) Ripley in Mansfield, PA. She is survived by her daughter and son in law: Gayle and Jon C. Earley of Elmira; grandchildren, Vicki (Jay) Dahoda of Melbourne, FL and Jon Russell (Nan) Earley, of Horseheads, NY, one great granddaughter, Cassandra Phinney, of Elmira, and sisters; Charlotte Brennan of Amherst, NY and M. Jean Carpenter of Lawrenceville, PA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ethel was predeceased in 1930 by twin daughters, Marilyn and Grace Baldwin, in 1984 by her husband of 56 years, Russell A. Baldwin, as well as by eight siblings.  She was the oldest member of the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church and had very actively served there for 66 years. Ethel was a member of Elmira Area Retired Teachers and of Harmony-Loyal Chapter #265 Order of Eastern Stars and she had volunteered at American Red Cross for over 35 years. Together, Ethel and Russell had been members of various service organizations. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY, Thursday, May 31st, 2001, 5:00pm to 7:00pm. With committal service led by Rev. William Vallet and Rev. Fred Turner at 7:00 PM.
