AUMICK David Andrew (SRGP 81453) 22, of Mansfield, PA, died August 26, 2006 at home. He was born October 27, 1983 in Wellsboro, PA, the son of David and Sally Wilkins Aumick. David was employed as a lineman by Hinkle & McCoy. He was a member of his union and VFW Post 6757, Mansfield, PA. David is survived by his father and stepmother, David and Kathy Aumick of Troy, PA; mother and stepfather, Sally and Gordon Lewis of Mainesburg, PA; a sister and brother-in-law, Rachele and Joseph Fiske of Mansfield, PA; his maternal grandmother, Shirley Wilkins of Ft. Meade FL; two nephews, Joseph and John; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends are invited to call at the Gary Wilston Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 130 S. BALTZ HARRIETT GREGG
Harriett B. Formerly of 72 Watercure Hill Road in Elmira, NY, died
on March 21, 2006. She was born to Harry and Elizabeth Baltz on February
3, 1914. Harriett attended Elmira Free Academy, Cornell University and
Elmira College. During their courtship, Harriett and Alden were featured
in newspaper articles that profiled their sailing accomplishments. Harriett
always said, "She was there for the bailing and the ballast." Harriett
volunteered for many different organizations including the Elmira Historical
Society, First Presbyterian Church's Garden Committee, Elizabethan Guild,
Arnot Ogden Hospital, and others. Alden's parents, William Walker and Grace
Alden Gregg gave Harriett and Alden land that had been in the family for
generations, so they could build a home on East Hill, where they lived
for nearly all of her married life. As an avid gardener, Harriett turned
the East Hill clay into magnificent gardens that she shared with others.
Harriett was also a talented quilt and basket maker and a collector of
fine art. She loved the outdoors and playing tennis on their clay court.
Harriett cherished her beloved "Dog," farm, gardens, fields and wild animals.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Alden Gregg; brother, Richard
Baltz; sister, Jane Baltz Goodwin; parents, Harry and Elizabeth Baltz;
and sister-in-law, Alice Gregg. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law,
Richard and Gloria Gregg, Auburn, WA; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and
Paul White, Hampstead, NH; daughter, Martha Locke, Kirkland, WA; sisters-in-law,
Mildred Neale Baltz, Hagerstown, MD and Fort Myers Beach, FL, and Leslie
Gregg Hunt, Fairport, NY; grandchildren, John Gregg, Lincoln, MA, Scarth
Locke, Oakland, CA, Sarah Locke Yancey, Sandpoint, ID, Bretton White, Madison,

Harriett's life was full and the lives she touched were many. She especially
loved sharing her home and farm with her family and friends. Her family
welcomes you to join them in the celebration of her life. Harriett's Memorial
Service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 304 Main Street, Elmira,
NY, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7th. After the service, everyone
is invited for refreshments, conversation and celebration in the Great
Room. The family will provide flowers. Those wishing to remember Harriett
may make a donation in her name to Elmira College, First Presbyterian Church,
Chemung County Historical Society, Food Bank of the Southern Tier, or ARC.
BLAIR Kenneth John, Jr. Age 44, of Van Etten, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. He was born in Binghamton, NY, October 30, 1961, the son of the late James and Sandra Blair. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Blair; son, Pvt. Michael Blair, U.S. Army, TX; daughter, Amanda Blair, Endwell; two stepdaughters, Jessica Shaffer, Binghamton and Mahri-Lyn Shaffer, Winter Haven, FL; three brothers, James and Kevin Blair, both of Loganville, GA, Frank Blair, Kirkwood, NY; sister, Rhonda Riker, Loganville, GA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Patricia Evans, Apalachin, NY; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Virginia (Pauline) Blair; maternal grandparents, Frank and Helen Salerno. Ken served with the U.S. Army as an Airborne Ranger and later in the reserves during the Gulf War. He earned an Associate Degree in 1998 from Corning Community College and a BA degree in 2000 from SUNY Cortland. He was a member of the American Legion and the Van Etten Volunteer Fire Department. Ken was a New York State Corrections Officer at Elmira Correctional Facility, Elmira, NY. Friends may call on Friday, August 18, 2006, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Allen-Manzer Funeral Home in Spencer. BLINN ETHEL FREDERICKS
Ethel B. Age 84, died and Savior on Thursday evening, September 7,
2006, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Ethel was born on February 10, 1922, the daughter of the late Willis E.
and Anna E. Totland Blinn. She retired as an executive secretary with AT&T
in Morristown, NJ, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Horseheads.
Ethel is survived by her son, Gary (Susan) Fredericks of Horseheads, NY;
granddaughters, Kristen Fredericks of Smithfield, VA, Anna E. Fredericks
of Big Flats, NY and Katharine Fredericks of Horseheads, NY; sister, Anna
E. Colucci of Vineland, NJ; sister-in-law, Helen Blinn of Cape May, NJ;
and several nieces, nephews. Predeceasing her were her brothers, Willis
Blinn, Herbert Blinn and George Blinn. The family will receive friends
at Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St., at Rt. 13, Horseheads,
NY, 607-739-2035, on Monday, September 11, 2006, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Mrs. Fredericks' Funeral Service will take place at the conclusion of hours

BLY Frank "Park," Jr. 75, of 5171 Thornton Road, Ellington, NY,
died at 9:44 a.m., Thursday, August 31, 2006, in his home. He was the husband
of Esther Miller Bly, whom he married on July 18, 1953 in Elmira, NY. He
was born July 28, 1931 in Corning, NY, a son of the late Frank and Grace
Bucher Bly, and graduated from Wellsburg High School and Alfred College.
He later served in the US Army as an MP in Albuquerque, NM. A retired Jersey
farmer, Frank also retired as District Director for the Farmer's Home Administration.
He was a professional dairy cattle judge as well. Besides his wife, survivors
include his children, Debra Tordoff of Ellington, Lori (Doug) Maloy of
Warren, PA, Kevin (Cindy) Bly of Cherry Creek, NY, and Scott Bly of Honolulu,
HI; six grandchildren, Jordan and Colin Bly Moyer of Ellington, Amiti Maloy
of Morgantown, WV, Scott Maloy of Warren, and Reece and Rylee Bly of Cherry
Creek; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by a brother, Edward Bly; and two sisters, Marguerite
Lucky and Ruth Spicer. A private family interment will be in Valley View
Cemetery, Ellington. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday
in the Ellington Community Church. Friends will be received in the fellowship
hall of the church following the service Saturday. Memorials may be made
to the Faith Bible Chapel in Randolph, NY; or to the Ellington Community

Jonas S. Mast, 79, of Warren Center passed on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002,
at his home. Jonas was born on Aug. 5, 1923, in Holmes County, Ohio, a
son of the late Samuel S. and Anna Swartzentruber Mast. He married Elma
Mae Miller on March 5, 1942, in Dover, Delaware. A carpenter for most of
his life, he and his wife, Elma, raised 12 children -- eight sons and four
daughters: Anna, Enos, Henry, LeRoy, Gertrude, Sadie, Jonathan, Andy, David,
Samuel, Elma and Melvin; 112 grandchildren; and 173 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to call at the home in Warren Center on
Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 8 until 9 p.m. Funeral services will
be held on Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow

BREHANEY - Cecil James Brehaney - Cecil James Brehaney, 75, of Westfield, Pa. died Sunday, Feb. 20, 1977 suddenly. He was born in Westfield, Jan 31, 1902, the son of James and Minnie McMahon Brehaney. Mr. Brehaney was a retire owner of a bowling alley. He was a member of St. Catherine's Church in Westfield, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Orael; brother, Dennis of Westfield; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Wilber of Westfield, and Mrs. Elizabeth Stebbins of Fairport, N.Y.; neices and nephews. CALHOUN Jesse A. Age 75, of Mansfield, PA and Renova, PA, died Saturday, August 12, 2006, at his home in Mansfield, PA surrounded by his family and soul mate. Jesse was born on December 4, 1930 in Gleasington, PA, the son of Jesse D. and Leah (Baughman) Calhoun. He had been employed by Consolidated Natural Gas, Leidy Station in Tamarack, PA as a head auto mechanic. He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Renova, PA and attended the St. James Episcopal Church in Mansfield, PA. Jesse was the treasurer of the New Maple Grove Cemetery Association in Leidy, PA, member of the Kettle Creek Sportsmen's Association, and a Volunteer Forest Fire Warden. For the past ten years his passion has been buying and selling antiques and traveling. Jesse was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Post War Occupation of Germany. Jesse is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Kelly Calhoun of Butler, PA; a granddaughter, Rachel Calhoun of Butler, PA; foster brother, Howard "Sonny" Reese of Lock Haven, PA; a sister and brother-in-law, Leah Jean and Stanley Barker of North Bend, PA; one niece, Debra Barker of Mill Hall, PA; and his soul mate and companion for nine years, Carole Schoonover of Mansfield, PA. COVEY Laverne Age 72, of Gillett, PA and formerly of Elmira, died Saturday, September 9, 2006, at Towanda Memorial Hospital's Skilled Nursing Unit following an extended illness. Born on July 3, 1934 in Towanda, Laverne was a son of Claude and Iva (Eddy) Covey. He was employed by American LaFrance for many years and later worked for the ABB Company. He is survived by his beloved wife, Martha; children, Raymond (Debbie) Covey of Nelson, PA, Tina (Jerry) Mullen of Gillett, Charise (Mike) Vargo of Chemung, and Bonnie (Andrew) Stevens of California; seven stepchildren, 25 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Frances (Mark) Lear of Elmira, Isabelle (Richard) Johnson of Granville Summit, PA, Barbara Finnerty of Gillett, and Mae Barrett of Elmira; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Raymond was predeceased by his parents, Mildred (Archer) and Raymond A. Crawford; and Aunt and Uncle, Lillian and Frank Stimax. Raymond is survived by, his wife, Carol Elizabeth of Lockwood NY; son and daughter-in-law, Gary S. and Dawn Evans Crawford of Neptune, NJ; daughter and son-in-law, Leslie D Crawford and Ken Montanaro of Barnegat, NJ; a daughter; Jennifer E. Tedesco of Lockwood NY; daughter and son-in-law, Christine R. and Edward A. Ryan IV, of South Waverly, PA; grandchildren, Edina Montanaro, Dylan Montanaro, Amy Lee Crawford, Darren E. Shirley Louise Age 85, entered Heaven's gates on August 12, 2006. Born
in Elmira, NY on November 27, 1920, she moved to Jacksonville, FL after
the death of her husband, Maxwell Cole, in 1992. Survivors include daughters,
Jo Anne Long (Everett) Bennett, and Maxine Cole Evans ("Sheik") Spaulding;
sons, George, Donald and Terry Cole; grandchildren, Darcy Bennett (Patrick)
D'Errico, Sharon Evans Maximiek, Richard Evans, John, Todd and Renae Cole;
great-grandchildren, Brendan and Keira D'Errico; sisters, Marion Moss,
Marjorie Decker and Ruth Garrabrandt; and brother, John Davies. Memorial
services will be held September 21, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pine Valley
United Methodist Church, Pine Valley, NY, where Shirley served as organist

DUNTON H. Donald Of Southport died of Pneumonia, Saturday, August 19, 2006 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility at the age of 94. Born in Leeds, Maine on July 6, 1912 he moved to Elmira in the early 1940's. He was employed by Schweizer Aircraft Corp. until his retirement. Mr. Dunton is survived by his wife Mary A. Dunton, son Edward Dunton, Southport; step daughter, Geraldine Stump, Lakeland, FL four step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. He requested there be no services. FENNELL BETTY L. WILLIAMS
Betty L. of Gaines, PA Age 93, died Sunday, September 10, 2006, in
the Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA. Born July 8, 1913, in Middle
Grove, IL, she was the daughter of Herbert and Sarah Douglas Fennell. Betty
was married to Guy L. Williams, who predeceased her on September 5, 1998.
Mrs. Williams owned and operated the Williams Motor Court in Ansonia, PA,
with her husband. She was a member of the Galeton First Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Sonya (James) Holleran of Wel1sboro,
PA, and Mrs. Tanya (Sidney) Spencer of Pine Valley, NY; five grandchildren,
James (Shelli) C. Holleran, Jr., Spring (Chris) R. Lohr, Jennifer Spencer,
Jeremy Spencer, and Nathan Spencer; three great-grandchildren, Nolan Lohr,
Jessa Lohr, and Madison Lohr; and several nieces and nephews, including
Sharon (Charlie) Dincher of Mansfield, PA. In addition to her husband,
she was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters. Friends may call

FISHER JANICE MARIE SCANLON
Janice Marie Age 67, of Horseheads, NY, died peacefully surrounded
by her family on Sunday, September 3, 2006, at Cayuga Medical Center in
Ithaca, NY, from complications of cancer. She was the loving wife of William
Scanlon. Born February 16, 1939 at home in Enfield, NY. She is the daughter
of the late Frank and Elvena Fisher. Janice was a loan officer at the First
National Bank of Ithaca before her retirement and was also a past president
of the Cayuga Chapter of the American Institute of Banking. She was an
active member of the First Baptist Church in Watkins Glen, Eastern Star
in Montour Falls, the Red Hat Society of Catherine and the Sweet Adeline's.
She is survived by her husband, William; daughters, Lynne Baker-Osserman,
Stacey (Kenneth) Roy; and son, Mark Baker; three granddaughters, Gwen Osserman,
Brittney Baker and Danielle Baker; one grandson, Matthew Osserman; three
brothers, Donald (Arlene) Fisher, Paul (Cathy) Fisher and David (Lorraine)
Fisher; and one uncle, Keith (Jane) Leonard; and close friend, Ginny Fisher.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Family and friends

FORTNEY Donald R. Age 74, died Friday, September 22, 2006, at the home of his niece, Jeanette Witucki, at Morris Run, PA. Born in Middleton, PA, January 12, 1932, he was the son of Daniel B. and Elsie Caton Fortney. He was an Army veteran serving actively from 1952-1955, and a reservist until 1958. He was a retired self-employed truck driver. His wife, the former Verda Sutton, preceded his death on February 7, 2001. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Fortney; and sisters, Catherine Cook, and Helen Dailey. He is survived by two sons, Charles Cody of Oklahoma, and Jonathan Cody of Texas; stepsons, Emery D. Taft of Corning, NY, and Adrian Hallett of Penfield, NY; his stepdaughter, Darlene Brown of Florida; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. GRANGER IRENE JEAN BUSH
Irene Jean Granger Age 76, born November 16, 1929 in Elmira, died Monday,
September 25, 2006, after a long battle with heart disease. She is survived
by her loving husband of 57 years, Theodore Robert Bush; their two children,
Cheryl Jean Bush Sprague of Cincinnati, Ohio, and her family, husband,
David Sprague, stepdaughter, Melanie Adams, her husband, Rob Adams, two
step grandchildren, Robert and Terese Adams; and by her son, Daniel Raymond
Bush and his family, Joyce Nolan, Denise Slade and Christopher Downs, and
granddaughters, Amber and Skylar Downs. She resided in Elmira for many
years and in Horseheads, New York until 1985. Irene was a longtime standing
member of The National Federation of Business and Professional Woman's
Clubs, Inc.; inducted into the Elmira City Woman's Bowling Association
Hall of Fame; worked as office manager for Dairyman's League of Horseheads;
worked for the Florida's Pasco County, Sheriff's Department warrants division;
was the active President of the Italian American Association of Spring
Hill, Florida. She loved organ music and was learning how to play for the
last few years at Fletcher Music in Spring Hill. She was predeceased by
her mother, Jean Granger Holmes; her stepfather, William Holmes; her father,
Raymond Granger; and her brother, Chester Granger of Elmira, New York.
A Memorial Gathering took place Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at Irene's
home in Spring Hill, Florida. In Elmira, New York, the family will hold
a Visitation at Ballard-Lindgren Funeral Home, 161 Oakwood Ave., Elmira
Heights, on Friday, September 29, 2006, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2006, at 11:00
a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in

GROSS Morton Parsons (Mort) Age 81, of Fero Avenue, Corning, NY, died August 30, 2006 at the Corning Hospital. He was the husband of Waneta Pearl Rhoades Gross whom he married December 17, 1955. Mort was born June 19, 1925 in Tiadaghton, PA, the son of the late Robert W. and Hildred Parsons Gross. He attended Charleston High School, Mansfield State University, and other universities to further his education. Mort was a teacher for Northside High School from 1960-1964, and was a self-employed mason until his retirement in 1987. He attended Central Baptist Church, East Corning, NY, was a lifetime member of the VFW, member of the Corning Fish and Game Club, and was a Marine Veteran during World War II. Charlene E. Age 28, of 965 Oak St., Elmira, NY. She was born September
28, 1977 in Elmira, daughter of Charles R. Sr. and Connie L. (Seymour)
Hamilton and died Thursday, September 7, 2006, at home after an extended
illness. She was predeceased by her father, and is survived by her husband,
Brian Deitrick, Sr.; son, Brian Deitrick, Jr., both at home; mother, Connie
Hamilton of Elmira; brothers and sisters, Robert (Laura) Seymour of Denver,
CO, Theresa Hamilton, Catherine (John) Wood, both of Elmira, Charles Hamilton,

HAYES SHEREE LYNN SMITH
Sheree Lynn Of Spring Meadows in Romulus died following a lengthy illness
at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA on Tuesday, August 15, 2006,
at the age of 50. Born on February 15, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio, Sheree
was the daughter of Harry and Roberta Drake Hayes who reside in Lodi. A
resident of the Finger Lakes area for over 40 years, Sheree received her
LPN degree from the Marion S. Whelen School of Nursing in Geneva and her
RN degree from the Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua. She was
currently employed by the Elmira Psychiatric Center. A loving daughter,
mother and grandmother, Sheree devoted her life to the nurturing of her
children and later to her precious grandchildren. Sheree often filled her
home with the delicious smells of homemade cooking. For relaxation, the
garden provided a place for her to exercise her "green thumb" and Sheree's
garden was always of showcase quality. In addition to her parents, Sheree
is survived by her life partner, Ken Lenhardt of Romulus; one son, Scott
M. Smith (Tara Bailey) of Watkins Glen; one daughter, Tara K. Robinson
(Matthew) of Jacksonville, NC; three grandchildren, Madison Jayde, Leah
Angelle and Nathan Scott; one brother, Grant Hayes of Charleston, WV and
one sister, Kristin Swain of Ft. Wayne, IN. The family will be present
to receive friends at the Covert Funeral Home, 7199 South Main Street,

Uzlia "Jean" Age 79, of Mansfield, PA, died at home on Friday, August
25, 2006. Jean was born June 26, 1927, a daughter of Henry and Catherine
(McMillen) Henson. She was the wife of the late Martin J. "Marty" Barrett,
Jr. Jean was a member of the Holy Child Catholic Church, Mansfield, PA,
the Good Neighbors Club, Santa's Gift Bag, the Ladies Guild and spent many
hours helping in the kitchen at Holy Child. Jean is survived by five daughters
and sons-in-law, Martina Jean and Dennis Strouble of Centerville, OH, Patricia
Ann and Pasqualie Pape of Washington, DC, Kathryn G. Barrett of Mansfield,
PA, Gail Marie and Dan Kauffman of Bartow, FL, Lori Lynn Barrett of Corning,
NY; three sons and daughters-in-law, Martin James Barrett III of Mt. Pocono,
PA, Michael Francis and Carolyn Barrett of Bremerton, WA, Kenneth Eugene
and Kim Barrett of Cherokee, Iowa; 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Madolynne J. Age 78, of Canisteo, died August 31, 2006 at Hornell.
Born November 5, 1927 in Elmira to Laverne and Mabel Hill. Married in Elmira
to Ellsworth C. Henry, who survives. Predeceased by siblings, Isabelle
Smith, Virginia Kagrits, Robert and Donald Hill; stepbrothers, Russell,
Charles and Robert Gill. Besides husband, other survivors include daughter,
Cindy Matacale of Nunda; son, Ronald (Marilyn) Henry of Binghamton; sister,

HUFFORD ESTHER E. TEBO
Esther E. Of Elmira, NY Age 94, formerly of Tioga, PA, went home to
be with the Lord on August 17, 2006. Esther was born on January 1, 1912
in Northumberland, PA, the daughter of Harry and Alice Hufford. She married
Thomas M. Tebo, Sr. on November 21, 1931, who predeceased her in 1985.
She is also predeceased by her daughter, Marion Wheeler in 2002; brothers,
Emerson and Howard "Bob" Hufford; sisters, Ina Leister and Lillian Alexander.
Survivors are daughter, Ruth (Clifford) Cornell of Lake City, FL; son,
Thomas Jr. (Peg) Tebo of Dundee, NY; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren,
one great-great-grandchild, several nieces, nephews, special niece, Mary
Gidney; and devoted friend, Robin Sherman. She was a devoted homemaker,
loved her family, friends, playing the organ and crocheting. Esther played
the organ as a member of the Tioga Methodist Church for 23 years. Calling

on Sunday, August 20, 2006, from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral and committal service

Henry M., Robert J., Francis, John L., and her sister Margaret E. Brooker.
Alice is survived by her husband Carl Johnson; daughter Rita; sons, Mark

Carol A. Of Elmira, NY died Saturday, September 9, 2006, at home surrounded
by her family. Carol is the daughter of the late Joseph and Doris (Ross)
Kosinski. She was born in Corning, NY January 15, 1945. Carol is survived
by her daughters, Pam Youngs of Horseheads, NY, Michelle Hill of Orlando,
FL; son, Richard Hill III of Elmira, NY; two grandsons, Michael and Ryan
Youngs; one great-grandson, Zackery; very close and caring friends, Barb
Dando, Charles Janowski and Dr. Draxler, for her wonderful love and care.
Her beloved canine companions, "Moe" and "Tasha", also survive
her. Carol
was a beautician for many years in the surrounding area. Once she became
a mother, she found more enjoyment in raising her family and giving them
a peaceful home to live in, which she never let go of through her life.
She loved her grandsons immensely and had a very special relationship with
them. She cherished being the grandmother that everyone could depend on
and loved to be around. This was known by many of her friends and neighbors
as well. They could always depend on Carol. Carol loved the good times
at her local hangout, the Field House next to her home. She loved her racing
and was an avid NASCAR fan. Family and friends will gather at the Olthof

20, 1929, the daughter of the late George and Eliza (Johnson) Lattimer.
She was also predeceased by her first husband, Henry William Vann, Sr.;
second husband, Samual Stevens Grover; two sons, David G. Vann and Francis
E. Vann; daughter, Suzanne E. Vann; six brothers, Wilber, Carl, Earl, George,
Hiram, Henry; five sisters, Hattie, Shirley, Myrtle, Ellen, Anna. Mae is

by her husband, Fred Keith; children, Robert Duane Keith of Elmira, and
Thella (Yves) Louis of Rochester, NY; granddaughters, Terry Booker of Corning,
and Natalie Louis of Rochester, NY; sister, Gwen Anderson of Baltimore,

LOVELL RUTH J. KENNEDY Ruth J. Of Galeton, PA 67, died Wednesday, September 27, 2006. Born February 14, 1939 in Galeton, she was the daughter of Lewis and Gladys Kio Lovell. She was married to Wilbur F. Kennedy, who survives. She was employed by the Westfield Garment Factory and the Ox Yoke in Galeton for the many years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and an avid bingo player. LYCHALK Andrew J., Sr. of Galeton, PA 92, died Thursday, August 31, 2006. Born October 3, 1913 in Josephine, PA, he was the son of Michael and Susan Lucas Lychalk. On November 29, 1941, in Galeton, he married the former Eleanor Pepero, who survives. He served with the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1934 – 1941, mostly at Lyman Run as a First Sergeant. A World War II Veteran, he served with the U.S. Army as a military policeman in the Pacific Theatre, stationed in Korea. Mr. Lychalk was employed by the Galeton Foundry and Galeton Production Company in the shipping department for many years, retiring in 1978. He was an active member of St. Bibiana Catholic Church in Galeton, member and Past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #693, 4th Degree Assembly #2193, Raymond Richar VFW Post #6611, the Galeton Moose, the Brookland Club, and the National Slovak Society. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Andrew (Evelyn) Lychalk, Jr., and John M. MACCAIG Nancy M. Age 66, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at Elcor Health Services Center in Horseheads. She was a former school teacher and freelance writer. She wrote a social column in the Star-Gazette and The Corning Leader during the 1980's through 1997. She is survived by several cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Wootten, and her parents, Kenneth and Esther Morton MacCaig. MILLER Rexford D. Age 72, of Trout Run, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. Born April 4, 1934 in Blossburg, he was the son of the late Elmer and Sadie Becker Miller. On April 2, 1955 he married the former June Smith; she preceded him in death in 2000. Mr. Miller was a construction foreman and ran heavy equipment. Survivors include his sons, Jan Miller, Broad Acres, Wellsboro, Scott Miller and his wife, Barb, Blossburg, Peter Miller and his companion, Tina Schultz, California; sisters, Betty Lori Snyder, NY, Lois Cort, MA, Sarah Bohnert, Wellsboro, and Donna Michael, NY; grandchildren, Casey and Laura Miller, Blossburg; and great-grandson, Ethan Stanley, Blossburg. MORRISON GLADYS GREEN
Gladys M. Loving wife, mother and grandmother Was born July 12, 1915
in Williamsport, PA, the daughter of William and Clara Morrison, went home
to be with her Lord on Monday, August 28, 2006, peacefully at the Arnot
Ogden Medical Center at the age of 91. She is survived by her loving husband,
Louis J. "Lou" Green of Elmira, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne C.
and Robert Vandenburgh; grandchildren, Stacie (Gerry) Anderson; great-great-grandchildren,
Alexis, Arrianna and Annika; grandson, Erick Vandenburgh, all of Florida;
son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Dianna Green of Cornelius, NC; granddaughter,
Jessica Hargrave and her children, Courtney and Dakota, all of Washington;
along with several nieces and nephews. Gladys was an accomplished pianist
and organist, playing in many of the local churches. She also gave lessons
to many students. Her fondest memory was playing the organ at the Clemens
Center. At the request of the family, there will be no prior calling hours.
Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the
Ashland Cemetery, Wellsburg, NY. A Memorial Service honoring Gladys will
be held at a later date and time to be announced. Arrangements have been

MOSCH Albert R. Age 87, of Villa Park, CA, formerly of Elmira, NY, died Monday morning, August 21, 2006, from congestive heart failure. He was preceded by his wife of 49 years, Kathryn I. Mosch in 1996. His surviving family includes daughters, Donna M. Murdock, husband, Ernie of Williamsburg, VA, Anita J. Mosch and Cherri K. Franzen of Villa Park, CA; his sister, Dorothy Ainsworth of Corning, NY; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Mosch retired from the American LaFrance Company after 44 years, his final position was Methods Engineer. He was a contributor to the design of the Century Cab fire truck. He was a past communicant of St. Peter and Paul Church and then St. Mary's Church in Elmira. He loved calling for both Bingo nights. Mr. Mosch was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. He was busy in his retirement as a school crossing guard and gardener. At his Elmira home on Maple Avenue he grew a variety of vegetables and sold them out front at his Evergreen Gardens stand. But his prized gladiolas were his favorites that he gladly sold at local florists and his stand. After his wife, Kathryn died in 1996 he became bi-coastal, living 6 months in Virginia and 6 months in California. In Virginia and California he continued his love of fishing and became an avid woodworker. Four years ago his health forced him to stay in California. A private memorial service will be held in Villa Park, CA, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request masses or donations to the charity of the giver's choice in the name of Albert R. Geraldine Nichols Age 73, died of cancer, April 24, 2006 in Chapel
Hill, NC. Mrs. McGuire, from Horseheads, NY, graduated from Horseheads
HS and SUNY Cortland College. She resided in Fairfax, VA prior to retirement
in NC. Survivors include husband, Frank; son, David Folnesbee; sister,
Arlene Nichols Neale; brother, Benjamin Nichols; two grandchildren and

NIVER Dick At approximately 2:20, Saturday afternoon, while surrounded by family, Dick Niver died. His confident, friendly, witty style was evident throughout his heroic struggle with cancer. Dick lived the majority of his life in the Elmira and Horseheads areas until fulfilling his dream of living on Keuka Lake. His family and friends know how much he enjoyed entertaining everyone there; laughs, great food, 'Pabst' and a great Manhattan, were never lacking; "If you go away hungry, it's your own (darn) fault" was his standard motto. Dick was a veteran in the U.S. Navy and served four years as a Radioman. For 39 1/2 years, he worked for New York State Electric & Gas as both a Lineman and Line Supervisor, retiring in April of 2003. Many years were spent in loyal service and patronage to the Elmira Elks Lodge #62 where he reigned as Exalted Ruler in 1976. Dick's life was full and the lives he touched were many. He is survived by his wife, Susan (Carpenter) Niver; daughter, Laurie (Killoran), her husband, Tom and two sons, Ryan and Shannon; daughter, Mary Beth and her son, Calvin; son, Rick, his wife, Kelly and their three children, Maegan, Cody and Paige; brother, Michael; and several in-laws/outlaws, nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all who so graciously set aside time to lift Dick's spirits during his 8 month courageous fight. The outpouring of love through cards and letters from extended family and friends was much appreciated. Dick requested that a funeral or service not be held. He wanted all of us to remember him in our own way. The family has planned a "Celebration of Life" to be held on Friday, September 15, 2006, at the Elmira Elks Lodge located at 300 E. Gray Street from 6:00-9:00 p.m. All are invited to stop by to share in memories and the toasting of a life cut short and a man who will truly be missed. on Sunday September 24, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary
K. is survived by her loving husband Joseph F. Gates and her loving children,

OTIS Eugene A. Age 74, of Bolivar, NY, died on Tuesday, September 26, 2006, in the Bath VA Hospital, Bath, NY. Eugene was born on October 14, 1931 in Williamsport, PA, a son of the late Arthur Faivre and Marion Robear Faivre. Eugene was formerly employed as a truck driver for Taynton Trucking Company in Wellsboro, PA. He served with the United States Air Force and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose - Wellsboro Lodge 1147. Eugene is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Jen Clark of England, Butch and Eva Otis of Kentucky, Steven and Lynne Otis of Chester, ME; four daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and John Allen, Kimberly Otis and Tami Dunlap of Wellsboro, Andrea and Steven King of Scranton, PA; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Helen and Richard Brill of Mansfield, PA, Dorothy Shaw of Wellsboro, PA; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Willis J. Peake died at his home in Middlebury, Richardson County,
Nebraska, on March 5th. He was born in Charleston, June 19,
1844, being the oldest son of Hiel and Nancy Talbot Peake. He married
Chloe Bacon of Wellsboro, Sept. 9, 1866, who survives him.
He served during the Civil War as a member of Company A, 187th Regiment,
PA. Vols. Soon after the war he moved to Middleburg, Neb., where
he had resided since. He leaves besides his wife, 6 children, three
sons and three daughters; also one sister, Mrs Eliza Bockus, and
three brothers-- Mark Peake, Elijah Peake and Chester Peake,
all of Charleston.

Sharon L. Age 61, of Elmira Heights, NY, daughter of the late Loren
and Marie Pritchard, died Wednesday, September 13, 2006, at Arnot Ogden
Medical Center. Sharon is survived by her husband, Leon E. Kelsey; daughters,
Linda Hallett of Virginia Beach, VA, and Susan Kelsey of Alexandria, VA;
sons, Lewis (Glenda) Kelsey of San Antonio, TX, and Eric (Rhiannon) Kelsey
of Elmira, NY; four grandchildren; sisters, Lauren (James) Clark, Jacqueline
Pritchard, and Mary (David) Clark; several nieces and nephews. It was Sharon's

REED PEARL F. GREEN
Pearl F. Age 94, of Horseheads, formerly of Elmira, died Thursday,
September 21, 2006 at Elcor Health Services, where she had lived for the
past 13 years. Pearl was born June 30, 1912, a daughter of the late Charles
and Anna Ely Reed. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her
husband Edward Green, who died
, December 1982, and
sisters, Lola Morrow and Helen Hugg. Pearl is survived by her son and daughter-in-law
Edward C. and Barbara Green of Elmira; grandchildren, Eddie (Michelle)
Green, and Denise (Daniel) McCarthy; great-grandsons, Eddie and Ryan Green,
Tyler and Connor McCarthy; brother Richard Reed of Elmira; along with several
nieces and nephews. Pearl worked at Rosenbaum's and Iszard's for many years.
She loved her vacations in Canada and the many boat rides while there.
Pearl loved her grandchildren and will be missed by all. Family and friends

ROWE Jonathan C. Jonathan C. Rowe, 59, of Pinehurst, NC, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Jon was born in Syracuse, NY on May 14, 1947. Jon graduated from Horseheads High School, Horseheads, NY in 1965. He was an outstanding athlete in basketball, football and baseball. He attended one year of college at Susquehanna University, PA, on a basketball scholarship. He served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1970, including one year of service in Vietnam. He graduated from the University of Maryland Pharmacy School in 1975. He left the pharmacy profession after 10 years and worked for Corning, Inc. for several years, retiring from the company in 2002. He then was employed by Coty in Sanford, NC at the time of his death. Jon is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Gloria, of Pinehurst, NC; one son, Chris and his wife Stacy of Clayton, NC; a daughter, Ali and her fiance Jeremy Patno of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by his mother, Eloise Rowe, and a sister, Sarah Young, both of Moultrie, GA. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Patricia Rathburn and Shirley Matthews; and his brothers-in-law, Ken Howland, Don Howland, and Jerry Howland. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Cuthbert Rowe, and a special aunt, Lillian Johnson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday. SCOTT DOROTHY "DOT" SMITH
Dorothy "Dot" 79, of Roaring Branch, PA, died peacefully on August
19, 2006 at Dar-Way Nursing Home, Estella, PA. Dorothy Jean Scott was born
May 9, 1927 on her family's farm in Horseheads, NY, to her parents, the
late Burr and Eleanor (Rogers) Scott. After her graduation from Horseheads
High School, Dot worked at Artistic Card Company, Westinghouse and National
Home Corporation. On November 14, 1964, Dot married George B. Smith in
Grover, PA. They settled on the Smith family farm on Parsons Hill. They
were blessed with more than 40 wonderful years until his passing in September
of 2005. During those years, Dot and George gave much of their time and
affection as foster parents to over 70 children. Surviving are her daughters,
Helen Tavira of Roaring Branch, and Mary (Wayne) Bronson of Canton, PA;
as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, George,
Mrs. Smith was predeceased by a brother, Philip Wellington Scott of Watkins
Glen; and her twin brother, Donald Gene Scott of Pine City. In keeping

She was predeceased by her brothers, Herman Smith and Dean Smith; sister-in-law, Lola Smith. Ida Mae was a faithful member of the Central Christian Church. She retired from Remington Rand after many dedicated years of service and also was employed by Diamond Cleaners for many years. SUTTON Doris L. Age 42, of Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, died Wednesday, August 30th, at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Doris was born August 14th, 1964, the daughter of Richard B. and Joyce Beardslee Sutton. Doris attended schools in the Elmira area and was in the process of obtaining her GED. She was a homemaker, and loved spending time with her soul mate, Michael Commander. Doris had a special fondness for fishing. She liked to watch wrestling, play cards, and the computer, and loved spending time with friends. School Parent Advisory Committee. She was active in community affairs and
dedicated to the welfare of children. She was the daughter of the late

WALSH Lawrence F. Age 68, of Aberdeen, NC, died suddenly Friday, September 15, 2006, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. In true Irish fashion, Mr. Walsh was born on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1938 in Elmira, NY. He married his high school sweetheart, Peggy in 1957, and began what would become a large family. In 1964, Mr. Walsh and his family moved to Schenectady, NY where they spent the next 25 years before moving back to Elmira. In 1997, Mr. Walsh and his wife then relocated to Moore County, NC. At the time of his death, Mr. Walsh was employed by Upstate Detailing, Inc. as Director of Estimating. Mr. Walsh is survived by his wife, Peggy Walsh; daughter, Lawren Getz (Greg) of Katy, TX; daughter, Kathleen Laing (Jason) of Malta, NY; son, Daniel Walsh (Joy) of Glenville, NY; son, Stephen Walsh (Cynthia) of Burnt Hills, NY; son, Jonathon Walsh (Lisa) of Indianapolis, IN; and son, David Walsh (Melissa) of Lumberton, NJ. He is also survived by brothers, Richard Walsh (Francis), Paul Walsh (Vinona), John Walsh, James Walsh (Charlene); sister, Deanna Walsh; and is predeceased by his brother, Raymond Walsh. Finally, Mr. Walsh is survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be held in Elmira, NY on Wednesday, September 20, 2006, from Noon-2 p.m., followed by a funeral at 2 p.m. Arrangements will be made through Ballard & Lindgren Funeral Home located at 161 Oakwood Ave., Elmira, NY 14903. WEBB Lynn David Age 41, of Portland, Oregon, died very unexpectedly on Friday, September 1st, while at work. Lynn was born in Corning, New York, the son of Leonard and Shirley Webb of Big Flats, New York. He was a graduate of Horseheads High and attended Corning Community and Plattsburg colleges, obtaining his Bachelors Degree. Lynn was an equipment operator for V.W.R. International in Tigard, Oregon. Lynn was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He loved photography, and had very much enjoyed working with kids at the Buddhist Temple in Portland, where he spent many volunteer hours. Lynn would go out of his way to help anyone, and his keen sense of humor rubbed off on anyone around him. Surviving Lynn are his parents, Leonard and Shirley of Big Flats; four sisters, Cheryl (Harry) Reidy of Horseheads, Candice (John) Phillips of Corning, Kim (Mark) Kimball of Clinton, South Carolina, and Kathy (Scott) Magaw of Moore, South Carolina; his former wife, Tina Webb of Portland, Oregon. He is survived by nieces and nephews, Shara, Conor, Aiden, Zachary, Jared, Mariah, Brandon, Cerissa, Aaron, Ryenna, and Kalyn. Calling hours for Lynn will be at Carpenters Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning, from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, September 7th. The Funeral Service will be held there at 11 a.m. on Friday. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Painted Post, New York. WINNER Durward Kramer Rev. Durward Winner, died August 12, 2006 in Umatilla, Florida. He was born November 6, 1915, the son of Ida and Otto Winner of Elmira, NY. He is survived by his wife, Marion; one brother, Aubrey (Vivian) of Orlando, Florida; one sister, Norma McFarland of Carmen, Idaho; two sons, Warren (Theresa) of Rock Stream, New York, D.L. (Lori) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three daughters, Roberta Forrest (William) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Joyce Patrick (John) of Palm Springs, Florida, and Darlene Wilkins of Ocoee, Florida. He has 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Memorial Services were held August 26, 2006 at Ocoee Church of God, Florida, with Rev. ? MARY A. MCLAUD
Mary A. Age 87, died quietly on August 30th at the Presbyterian Home
in Oakmont, PA. Mary is survived by her son, Dave Smith and his wife, Jackie
of Rochester, NY; her daughter, Connie Fitzgerald and her husband, John
of Oakmont, PA; and her four grandchildren, Bretney Smith, Alec Smith,
Chase Ames, and Lindsay Diehl. She is also survived by her stepson and
stepdaughter, Bill and Mary McLaud. Mary was a resident of Elmira from
1952 to 2004, and had been married to Bob Smith. Some years after Bob's
death, she married Bud McLaud. Mary was the sister-in-law of Mim McLaud,
her best and longtime friend, and she was practically a second mother to
Carrie Ziegler of Elmira. Mary will be missed by many. She was a wonderful
mother, always there for us kids when we got home from school, a terrific
cook, and was known for her tremendous sense of humor. She was always optimistic,
upbeat, and loved to laugh. During her many years in Elmira she was a member
of the Elmira Country Club, the First Presbyterian Church, a volunteer
at Arnot Ogden Hospital, and loved her bridge club and all the ladies in
it! A memorial service will be held in Elmira at a later date to be announced.

Dora B. 80, of Sarasota, Florida, died peacefully with her family by
her side on Sunday, September 17, 2006. She was born June 29, 1926 in Lock
Haven, Pennsylvania, and had moved to Sarasota 5 years ago from Horseheads,
New York. She was a homemaker and retired Grape Vineyard Tender. She is
survived by her husband of 57 years, Austin D. Mosch of Sarasota; two daughters,
Lorraine (John) Schuh of Sarasota, and Cindy (Tom) Brockway of Painted
Post, New York; one son, Duane (Sheri) Mosch of Aiken, South Carolina;
sister, Delores Talley of Horseheads, New York; and seven grandchildren.
Interment and services will be in Hector Union Cemetery, Hector, New York

? FLORENCE EPSTEIN SANDERS
Florence Epstein Age 70, of Western Avenue in Albany, and longtime
resident of Elmira, NY, died Friday morning, August 18, 2006, at her Albany
residence. Mrs. Sanders was born in Brooklyn, NY, resided for a time in
Staten Island, and had been an Elmira, NY resident for 29 years. She was
employed with her husband, Mark, in his optometry practice in Elmira, NY.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mark Sanders; devoted mother of
Debra Zimring (Jeffrey) of Albany, NY, Adrienne O'Neill of Pittstown, NY,
and Paul Sanders of Boston, Massachusetts; cherished grandmother of Steven
and Haylea Zimring, Michael O'Neill and Nicholas Ruf. Funeral services
and interment were held in Albany, New York, on Sunday August 20, 2006.
Funeral arrangements were by the Levine Memorial Chapel, Albany, New York.
