FOLEY - Marguerite E. GARDINER, 88, troy, Pa, died February 24, 1997, at Troy Community Hospital, troy. She was a native of Philadelphia, PA. She was a graduate of Woodbury High school and was former secretary of Cy Eastlack at the Ford Agency (now Ace Motors) in Woodbury. She was a life-long member of Almonesson United Methodist Church and was an active leader in the Woman’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS) of the United Methodist Church. She served as president of the Camden District of the WSCS, president of the NJ conference of the WSCS, chair of the Missionary Education and Service Committee of the Northeastern Jurisdiction, delegate to several United Methodist Assemblies and delegate to the World Methodist Council. Other volunteer work included president of the Board of Directors of the Neighborhood Center in Camden, NJ. She is survived by her husband, E. Emerson Gardiner; son , Dr. Dickinson E. Gardiner of Troy; sister, Eleanor McCall of Woodstown; two grandsons. Mrs. Gardiner was a long-time resident of Almonesson and moved to Troy in 1989. The funeral was held at the Almonesson United Methodist Church, Almonesson, NJ. Interment in the Almonesson Methodist Cemetery, Deptford, NJ. Leslie A. PACKARD, 78, of Lake Worth, FL, formerly of canton and Troy, PA, died August 3, 1999 in West Palm Beach, FL. Born February 8, 1921 in Canton, he was a son of John and Maude Jenkins Packard. Lew grew up in Canton and graduated with the class of 1919. Mr. Packard served in the Air Force during WWII. Lew was employed by the Mutual of New York Insurance Co., retiring in 1983. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jo Hoodlett Packard, at home; daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Gerry Latopolski of Binghamton, NY; two granddaughters; sister-in-law, Marcella Packard of Canton; a brother-in-law, Harry Morse of Canton, PA; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Rancy K.PEPPER SR., 73, of st. Augustine, FL, formerly of Leroy and troy, PA, died Monday, June 7, 1999 at his daughter’s home in Interlachen, FL. Born May 2, 1926 in Leroy, he was the oldest son of the late Kenneth and Charlotte Colton Pepper. Rancy graduated from Canton High school, enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served on the USS Montour in the Pacific during WW II. He was employed by Westinghouse in Horseheads, NY for 30 years until his retirement. Rancy and his wife June moved to St. Augustine, FL where they have resided for the past 13 years. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, June Rice Pepper, at home; son and daughter-in-law, Rancy Jr. and Patricia Pepper of Granville Summit, PA; daughters, and son-in-law, Crissa Ackley of Interlachen, FL and Melody and Kevin Groff of Newport, PA; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters and their spouses, Katherine Lepper of Canton, PA, Pauline and Ernie Clark of Granville Center, Jeanette and Bill May and Paddy and Colie Sherman, both of Leroy; brothers and their spouses, Paul Sr. and Shirley Pepper of Canton and Roger “Butch” and Arla Pepper of Leroy; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack E. (Pappy) PINE, 72, of New castle, DE died Thursday, May 20, 1999. Born in troy, PA he moved to Delaware with his family in 1956. Jack was a letter carrier in the Fairfax and Newport offices and retired in 1986 after 30 years of service. He served aboard the carrier USS Lake Champlain from 1944-1945 during WWII. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and was an avid baseball fan. He had traveled to 45 of the 48 continental states. Predeceased in 1989 by his wife of 40 years, Mary E. Pine; he is survived by his sons, Jack of New Castel, DE, Steven of Hockessin, DE and Thomas of New Castle; daughters, Patsy Pine-Stecher of New Castle and Carolyn Pine-Pace of Pennsville, DE; brothers, Ronald Pine of Troy, PA and Donald Barrett of Columbia Cross Roads, PA; sisters, Eloise Hulslander of Troy, PA, Marge Evans of Lockwood, NY and Joann Lowe of Steam Valley, PA; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and his beloved companion, Grace McLimans. Velma Estella PLACE, 74, Troy, PA died on Monday, February 23, 1998 at her home. Velma was born March 26, 1923 in Monroe County, PA, the daughter of the late George and Sarah Place. Velma lived at Martha Lloyd Community services in Troy, PA since May 1939. Before her illness, Velma enjoyed planting flowers, walking through perennial gardens and making crafts. She also enjoyed reading the Daily Review every day, especially the front page, comics and weather. She is survived by a special friend, Althea Woolerton of Austin, PA. Eugene “Max” POTTER, 71, of East Smithfield, PA died Monday, March 6, 2000 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Born May 20, 1928 in East Smithfield, he was a son of the late Ted and Lucina Rockwell Porter. Max was a graduate of the E. Smithfield High School. Mr. Potter was a self-employed electrical contractor until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the E. Smithfield United Methodist Church, the Troy F&AM Lodge and the IBW Union Local No. 81, Scranton. Max was an avid historian and enjoyed genealogy. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robina and Linda Potter, daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Kevin Fisk, both of East Smithfield; four grandchildren; a brother, Robert Kennedy of E. Smithfield and a sister, mary Williams of Towanda, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, the former Chris Forbes; a sister, Lucille Reagan and an infant brother, Glenn. Willis “Butch” PORTER, 57, Granville Township, PA, died Sunday, October 20, 2002 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. Born on his family’s farm in Canton Township March 4, 1945, he was one of 14 children in the family of the late Addison C. and Etta Mae (McNeal) Porter. Butch attended the Canton schools but left school early to help support the family. He was employed by Swayze Folding Box Co. in Canton, Lemoncelli Tire Co. in Elmira, Paper Magic in Troy and L.I. Baumunk of Shunk, all the while operating his own farm in Granville Township. Butch is survived by sons, Todd (Georgianna) Porter and Scott (Tiffany) Porter and daughter Cherry (Matt) Nedley; 11 grandchildren; sisters , Mable Roupp, Rosemarie Benedict, Pauline (Simeon) Jackson, Donnie (Kenneth) Stowell, mary (Joe) Walburn, Ruth Ellen Machmer; brothers, Charles, Dolson, Addison, Randy (Donna), Gary and Thomas Porter; former wife and friend, Dave and Shelby Fleming. Colburn PRESTON, 78, Vacaville, CA, died the week of February 24, 1997. He was the son of the late Joseph and grace Preston. Mr. Preston lived on Redington Ave. in Troy, PA at one time.
PRUTSMAN Mabel P. FRALEY, 87, formerly a resident of Troy an Sayre, PA, died Friday, may 12, 2000 in Buffalo, NY where she had lived for the past twelve years. Mabel was born in Columbia Cross Roads to the late Jeff and Lenora Prutsman. Having attended troy High school, Mabel attended many of her class reunions in Troy. She worked as a social worker in Bradford County for twenty years, retiring in 1975. Mabel was predeceased by her husband George Fraley of Athens. She is survived by two sons, Richard (Elizabeth) Mitchell of Buffalo, NY and Daniel (Gloria) Mitchell of Port Orchard, Washington; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
QUEAL Lucille L. Queal EIGHMEY, 95, of Summerville, SC died Tuesday, May 8, 201 at a Charleston, SC hospital. Mrs. Eighmey was born on March 5, 1906 in Gillett, PA, the daughter of Willard Queal and Nellie Knapp Queal. She was a homemaker and the widow of Lacelle G. Eighmey. Survivors include her daughters, Phyllis Stell of Chandler, AZ and Marilyn Clark of Summerville, SC; sons, Louis Eighmey of Potomac, MD and Donald Eighmey of Ionia, MI; brother, Warren Queal of Millerton, PA; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs.Eighmey was preceded in death by her husband; and a son, Dale Eighmey. Quick, Mrs. Nela Jones died February 15, at the family home in Mansfield.
Mrs. Jones had contracted influenza, which rapidly developed in a severe case of
pneumonia which proved fatal within a few days. She was 28 years of age,
being born August 3, 1891. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Quick
and is survived by her husband, who is also very ill, and several children.

RANDALL Ashley M. RANDALL, AGE 17, OF Gillett, PA died on Thursday, November 14, 2002 as the result of an automobile accident. She was born on November 3, 1985 in Towanda, PA, the daughter of Kristen (Kuster) Randall. Ashley was a junior at Troy High School. She was on the Trojan Crier staff and worked on the farm of Mike Borek. Ashley is survived by her parents; brothers, James and Phillip Randall and sisters, Amanda, Allison and Samantha Randall, all of Gillett, PA; paternal grandparents, James and Barbara Randall of Columbia Cross Roads, PA and maternal grandparents, Phillip and Phyllis Kuster of Elmira, NY. Charles (Tink) REIDY, age 63, of Troy, PA died on Friday, November 10, 2000 at DarWay Nursing Home, Forksville, PA. Charles was born September 9, 1937 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA; he was the son of the late Walter L. and Marian (Robinson) Reidy. He was a graduate of troy High School and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. Charles was a member of VFW Post 6072 Asylum Twp. And American Legion Post 49, Troy, PA. He was employed at Penn troy Machine Company for 16 years until forced to retire due to a disability. He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Donald McINtosh, Lwman, NY, a brother and sister-in-law, Morris and Pauline Reidy, Gibson, NY and a special friend, Freda Bailey of Hillcrest Apartments, Troy, Pa. REMUS Jane Lynn OSBORNE, age 38, of Mansfield, PA died on August 14, 1998 in Mansfield, Pa. She was born on October 1, 1959 in Madison, WI, the daughter of Lee Remus of Madison, WI and Lucy (Bruns) Mangani of Warren, MI. Jane was a partner in CPO Publishing. She was a member of the Church of the New Covenant. Besides her parents, Jane is survived by her husband of 15 years, Roland Osborne III of Mansfield, PA; sons, Roland H. Osborne IV of Los Angeles, CA; Coleman J. Osborne at home; daughter Chrysta Grace Lee Osborne at home; brothers Mark (Chris) Remus, Jeff Remus and sister Susan Remus, all of Madison, WI. RENSHAW Suzanne O’CONNOR, 42, of Dushore RR, PA, died suddenly at her home on Saturday, October 28, 1995. The daughter of Julius and Joyce Snell Renshaw, she was born on October 20, 1953 in Elkton, MD. Suzanne was a graduate of Sullivan County High school Class of 1971 and later graduated from the Robert packer School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She worked there for many years. Suzanne is survived by her parents; her daughter, Ms. Stacie Ely of Dushore; three brothers; her grandmother, Mrs. Renshaw of Newark, DE. She was predeceased by a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy J. Ely in 1984 and Mrs. Virginia Ely. Funeral services were to be held November 1 at St. Paul’s Reformed UCC Church of Overton with the Rev. Robert W. Martin and the Rev. Robert W. Brown officiating. Robert Lee REYNOLDS, a resident of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, died April 25, 2001 at the age of 91. He graduated from Troy High School and Albright College in Reading, PA. For many years Bob worked as head of the control laboratory of Fero Enamel Company in Cleveland, OH. Upon retirement in 1970 he and his wife moved to Ft. Lauderdale. He is survived by sons and their wives, Lloyd and Sue Reynolds of Kent, OH and Wesley and Olivia Reynolds of Middletown, OH; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter as well as a niece and several nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Rockwell Reynolds, in 1990; his sister, Margaret Blanchard and his brother, Wesley.
Gerald “Jerry” John ROCKWELL of Lacey, WA, formerly of West Burlington, PA, died Saturday, July 29, 2000 at the age of 65. Jerry graduated from Troy High school in 1953 and served four years in the US Marine Corps before receiving an honorable discharge. During the time he resided with his family in Towanda he was employed by A.C. Smith and later D.G. Nicholas as a salesman. He retired as a major in the US Army. He is survived by his wife Barbara, at home; daughters, Lynne and Susan Rockwell of Nichols, NY and Terry Campbell of Lacey, WA; sons, Jay Rockwell of Towanda, PA and Dale Rockwell of Salt Lake City, UT; his mother, Doris Rockwell of Troy, PA; step-daughters, Melanie and Cheryl and their husbands, Lacey, WA; Donald of Sayre, PA and Wayne of Florida; a sister, Lorraine and Harry Wright of Milan, PA; several nieces and nephews. Markley M. RUTH 92, of Columbia Cross Roads, formerly of Kulpsville, PA died Sunday afternoon, Oct. 1, 2000, at the DarWay Nursing Home in Estella. Born on Dec. 28, 1907, in Kulpsville, he was the son of the late Howard and Verna Markley Ruth. Mr. Ruth was employed as a tire salesman by Dergey’s Inc. in Franconia. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in mainland, PA. He is survived by: a daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Donald Beyer of Columbia Cross Roads; three grandsons, Bruce Beyer of Peoria, Ariz., Douglas Beyer of Spring Mount, PA., six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mr. Ruth was predeceased by his wife, Amy, and two brothers, Howard and John Ruth. The family will receive friends form 10 to 11 am, Thursday, October 5 at the Christ Lutheran Church, Mainland, PA. Rev. Harry A. SAGER JR., Lewisburg, PA, died Saturday, July 10, 1999 at Williamsport Hospital. Born February 13, 1914 in Elmira, NY, a son of the late Harry and Marietta (Moore) Sagar, he was married to the former Elinor Barnes for 55 years. Rev. Sager was a graduate of Southside High School in Elmira, Elmira Business School Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL and Colgate-Rochester Divinity School. He served as pastor for 42 years at several United Methodist Churches in the Central New York Conference and central Pennsylvania Conference. These included Watkins Glen, NY; Troy, PA; Waterloo, NY; Mansfield, PA; Mount Union and Chambersburg, PA. He retired from St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Lewisburg in 1981. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son and daughter-in-law. H. SCOFIELD Clarissa Emily TYLER, 95, died unexpectedly September 6, 1999 at Troy Community Hospital, Troy, PA, just one week shy of her 96th birthday. Born September 13, 1903 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Thomas William and Dorothea Emilie (Lindstadt) Scofield. Claire lived most her adult life in Metuchen, NJ. After her husband died in 1984, Claire moved to Canton, later going to Ogdensburg. Claire is survived by her cousins with whom she resided, Lenore (Lindstadt) Waldmeyer and husband, Ernest J. SHAMONSKI Ruth Ellen CRAWFORD, 66, died Sunday June 25, 2000 at the Bradford County Manor, Burlington, PA after an extended illness. Born May 30, 1934 in Blossburg, PA, she was the daughter of Charles and Eva Grace Shamonski. Ruth was married to Lyle Crawford of Alba who died in 1993. She is survived by daughters, Diana Wilcox of Canton, PA and Tammy Wilson of Felton, DE; a son, William Powers of Nashville, TN; sisters, Rose Benson of Mansfield, PA and Frances Kreger of Blossburg, PA; a brother, Richard Shamonski of Florida; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Bryce R. SHAW. Word has been received that Bryce R. Shaw of Venice, FL, died October 25, 1999. He was 69 years old. He was born in Mansfield, PA and moved to Venice in 1981 from Flint, MI where he served as Director of Mathematics and Computer Systems for the Flint School System. Mr. Shaw was a senior author with Houghton Mifflin Publishing Company in Boston, MA from 1970 until his death. His latest publication will have a January 2000 copyright date. He was graduated from Muhlenberg College, BA; the University of Michigan, an MA in analytical philosophy, Harvard University , Ph.D. in mathematics and applied physics. George A. SHERMAN, 88, of Sayre, PA, died at home Friday, September 13, 2002 following an extended illness. Born July 7, 1914 in Overton, PA he was the son of William and Debbie Sherman. He was formerly employed at EMC of Sayre as a foreman. Charles D. “Red” SILVERNAIL, Lindley, NY and formerly of Fassett, PA died Saturday, June 16, 2001 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Charles retired from Facet Enterprises. He was a carter member of the South Creek Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Caton Volunteer Fire Dept., Loyal Order of the Moose in Wellsboro, PA, American Legion #49 in Troy, PA and was the owner of Red’s Tire Sales, first in Fassett and then in Lindley, NY. He is survived by his wife Virginia (Stage) Silvernail; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Bonnie Silvernail of Horseheads; NY; daughter and son-in-law, Rose and John Pona of Ormond Beach, FL; five grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Jacquelyn Silvernail of Fassett, PA and Orwin Campbell of Tennessee; sisters, Catherine Anderson of New Port Richey, FL and Anna Ward of Bath, NY along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. SMEDES Bertha SWARTZ, 90, of Canton, PA died on Wednesday, September 18, 2002, at the Bradford County Manor, Burlington, PA. Bertha was born on March 14, 1912 in Montgomery, NY, a daughter of the late John and Jenny (VanDermark) Smedes. She was married to Howard F. Swartz for 66 years. Mr. Swartz preceded her to death on June 30,1999. Bertha and Howard lived in Warwick, NY for many years. In 1964 they moved to Poland, NY, where they helped on their son Hank’s farm until their retirement in 1973. They then settled in the Alba/Windfall area to be near family and grandchildren and later lived at the McCallum Manor in Canton. Mrs. Swartz was a member of the Windfall United Methodist Church. Mrs. Swartz is survived by; sons and daughters-in-law; Aurelius John and Elizabeth Swartz of Canton, James Paul and Judy Swartz of Tallahessee, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Jane and Kenneth Laubenthal of Utica, NY; a daughter-in-law, Joan Swartz of Clarks Summit, PA; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Albert Ford of Oklahoma, William Ford of Kent, WA; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Danny SMITH, age 12, of Columbia Cross Roads, PA died Tuesday, November 17, 1998 at Troy Community Hospital in troy, PA. He was born October 12, 1986 in Philadelphia, PA. Danny attended W.R. Croman Elementary School in troy and was currently in enrolled in the 5th grade at troy Middle School. Danny could not read, add or subtract, walk or crawl, talk or barely see. Danny could not dress or feed himself; yet he was a great communicator. Josephine A. SMITH, 97, of Canton, PA, formerly of Williamsport, PA died Tuesday, September 28, 1999 at the Bradford County Manor. Born November 20, 1901 in Eagles Mere, PA, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Virginia DeWalt Smith. Josephine graduated as a registered nurse in 1926 from Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing. She took care of her sister Martha who died in 1965 and moved to canton in 1968. Josephine was a member of the Canton Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) and enjoyed being a member of many community organizations. She is survived by a brother, Paul Smith of Canton; ten nieces and nephews, among them Judy Huntington of Columbia Cross Roads; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. STONE Dr. Genevra S. FLEAGLE, age 76, of State college, PA died Monday, June 15, 1998 at home. She was born November 7, 1921 in Springfield, PA, the daughter of the late Miles L. and Bessie Stanton Stone. Dr. Fleagle graduated form Troy High School in 1937, received her BA from Penn State in 1941 and her medical degree from the Women’s Medical College in Pennsylvania in 1946. Her internship was at Harrisburg General Hospital. With her husband, who she met at Harrisburg General, they practiced rural general medicine from their home in East Smithfield, Pa from 1948-1965. While she lived in East Smithfield, she served as president of the Bradford-Sullivan Counties Health Council; director of the Bradford County Cancer Society; a member of the Bradford County Medical Association; Girl Scout leader; offices in the local PTA and Music Boosters. She was listed in Who’Who in American Women in 1961. In 1965 they moved to state College to join the staff of Ritenour Student Health Center at Penn State. She retired in 1981 and was awarded emerita status. She was a member of St.. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in State College. She is survived by daughters, Nancy F. Devine of Cary, NC and Jill F. Ascah of State College, PA; six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Samuel B. Fleagle, in 1994. A private viewing was held at the Ascah residence on June 20 with burial to be in Boalsburg Cemetery, Boalsburg. STROPE Lisa M. JENKINS, 33, of troy RR 3, PA, died Sunday, February 14, 1999 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Lisa and her husband Donald (Zeke) Jenkins were the owner-operators of Jenkins School Buses of Troy, employing drivers in the Northern Tioga, Athens and Troy school districts. She was a member of the Troy Fire Department where her husband is third assistant fire chief and her daughter, Candice, the reigning fire queen. Lisa attended the Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church on the Berwick Turnpike. She was an avid horse person, belonging to the Tioga Valley Horse and Saddle Club. She is survived by her husband, Donald (Zeke) of Troy RR 3; daughters, Candice Marylou and Donna, all at home; her mother, Judith Swain Strope of Troy; sisters, Susan (Don) Crisman of Virginia Beach, VA, Nancy Strope of Troy and Barbara (Chris) Boles of Norfolk, VA; a half-sister, Ashley Strope of Waverly, NY; treasured friend and second father, Donald (Ed) Robinson of Sayre; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. SWEENY Bernice NASH, age 95, Troy, PA died Thursday, March 25, 1999 at the Bradford County Manor, Troy, PA. She was born in Armenia Township on June 19, 1903, the daughter of the late Robert and Della (Wilcox) Sweeny. Bernice and her late husband of 68 years, Row W. Nash, both operated a grocery and meat market from 1922 to 1941 at the site of the present Kim’s Beauty Salon in Troy. Later she was also employed as field representative for Farm Journal magazine. Bernice was a member of the Sylvania Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Troy American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 49 and held several offices including that of president. Bernice was the first vice president of the Bradford-Potter-Tioga County Council of the Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Troy Grange and Alparon Park Association and was affiliated with the Troy Free Fair. Bernice is survived by a daughter, Dorothy (Harold) Shepard of Freeville, NY; four grandsons and three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marie Sweeny of Elmira, NY; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great-nephews. Collen Dean TAYLOR, age 2, son of Mickey S. and Kristin L. Taylor of Elmira Heights, NY died August 5, 1995 at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY. He was born on August 18, 1992 at Arnot Ogden Hospital. Surviving besides his parents are his sister Kassandra and twin brother Stephen Kyle, both at home. THOMPSON Harry Thompson, aged nearly 28, died Wednesday morning at the home of his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Henry Thompson, in Blossburg, after a long illness. He enlisted in the Spanish-American war, in the Forty-first infantry, Company K from which he was honorably discharged, later reinlisting in Forty-first cavalry, Company K, serving in all five years in the Philippine Islands and other places, receiving the second honorable discharge. His death was caused by throat trouble. The result of brass poisoning from a bugle during his service in the army. Mr. Thompson had resided in Blossburg all his life. The funeral was held Friday afternoon at the house. He is survived by his wife and two small daughters; also his father and mother. last Thursday night following an extended illness of complications of diseases.
She was born at Cherry Flats, where she lived for many years. Mrs. Eddy

was estimable woman. Besides her husband she is survived by 5 daughters
and one son. She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs.

THOMPSON, Myra M. Cleveland, aged 82 years, of Covington, died March 29, 1948, at the home of her son, James Frost, Covington. She was born in Sullivan Township May 22, 1866, the daughter of Henry and Julia Thompson. She was married to Charles D. Frost in September 1883, who died in 1894. She later married Wallace Cleveland, now deceased. Franklin Arthur TILLINGHAST, 80, of Fassett, PA died Wednesday, March 29, 1995 at home. Frank was a member of the Gillett Baptist Church for over 60 years; a charter member of the South Creek Lions Club with 50 years; a member and past master of the Fassett Grange for over 50 years; a member of the Trojan Lodge #306 F&IAM, Troy, PA for over 40 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Jersey Cattle Club, a charter member of the South Creek Fire Department and Ambulance and a member of Elmira Moose Club. He was a former member of the Elmira Eagles Club, the Corning Masonic Lodge (32nd Degree) and the Elmira Grotto Club. Albert Larue TRICK, 57, Bloomsburg, PA died Monday, October 4, 1999 at his home after a long illness. He was born in Hughesville, PA June 5, 1942, a son of the late Preston H. and Margaret H. Weisbrod Trick. He is survived by five sisters and brothers-in-law, including Mary and Ronald Rockwell of Troy RR 3, PA; three brothers, Glenn and Grant Trick, both of Canton and Robert trick of Williamsport; his companion, Sarah Morrison, with whom he resided. Barthel Feleri TRUFFA, III, 52, Aberdeen, MD died Monday March 27, 2000 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT. He was born in Oakland, California, the son of the late Charlotte (Albers) and Barthel F. Truffa, Jr. He was an industrial and environmental health/physics technical consultant. He also retired from the US Army in 1988 as Sgt. Major, serving during Vietnam. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Alice Marie (Oldroyd) Truffa; his mother-in-law, Eleanor M. Clare “Tuck” Addison TUCKER, 79, OF Gillett, PA died at home on Saturday, November 11, 2000. Tuck was a member of the Coryland Church and the Wells-Jackson Lions Club. He was a veteran of World War II, serving his country in the Navy aboard the battleship USS Massachusetts. Cornell, mother of Mr. Charles Cornell died at the home of her son last Tuesday,
and funeral services were held in the Chatham Valley church on Thursday.
Mrs. Cornell was 83 years of age and had long been a widow, her husband, Robert,
having died many years ago. Charles, with whom she lived, is her only
surviving child. She had very influential brothers in New York.

He was a food industry supervisor. Mr. ward was a veteran in the US Marine Corps. WEAVER Catherine SKWIERAWSKI of Sayre, PA died on Monday, March 22, 1999 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Catherine was born in Dushore on December 31, 1933, a daughter of the late Ellery and Catherine Taffe Weaver Sr. She graduated from St. Basil’s High School, Class of 1952. Catherine was a homemaker and lived her married life in Sayre. She was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church, Saryre. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law; two brothers-in-law; grandchildren, Patrick Shults and Jennifer Shults, Troy; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence P. Skwierawski, in 1978; brothers, Ellery Weaver Jr. and Richard Weaver, both of Dushore. A Mass of Christian Burial was held March 26 at St. Basil’s Church in Dushore with the Rev. Michael B. Harris presiding and interment to be in the adjoining parish cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home in Dushore.
WEIGESTER Olive LAFOND, 84, of Saco, ME died in June 2000. She was born in Troy, PA on March 12, 1916, a daughter of Wilson and Emelia Lamkin Weigester, graduated as valedictorian from Troy High School, majored in Fine Arts and received a BA from Parson’s School of Design in New York City. She spent her junior year in Europe, studying at the Louvre in Paris as part of her program. Mrs. LaFond was a faculty member at Penn Hall in Chambersburg PA and also at Briarcliff Manor in Edgewood Park school in Westchester County, NY. She met Dr. Robert LaFond in New York City. They were married in June 1942. After spending the early years of their marriage in White Plains, NY they moved to Maine. She continued to draw and pain throughout her life. She was a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church and was very active in hospital work. Her husband died in February 1996. Surviving are two sons, John Philips of North Windham, ME and Thomas Hormides of Saco ME; a daughter, Margaret Kyle of Yarmouth, ME.

Ronald S. WESTLIN, 68, of Gillett, PA died of heart Failure on November 6, 1995 at the Arnot-Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. He was born September 10, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY and was the son of the late Mildred C. and Oscar G. Westlin. He served in the Us Navy as a hospital corpsman with the Marines in Germany during World War Ii and in Korea before retiring with 25 years of service in 1973. He worked for the Lewiston Hospital and Stop 35 in Mifflintown, PA and was a member of the First Methodist Church of Lewiston. Don resided in Gillett, PA the last 10 years of his life. He is survived by a daughter Jennifer L. (Westlin) Lynch; son, Andrew P. Westlin and his former wife, B. Lynne Westlin; one grandson. Kathleen Joyce WILCOX, 55, of Canton RR 1, PA, died Wednesday, August 23, 2000 at her sister Judy’s home in Canton Twp. Kathleen was born in Elmira, NY on December 20, 1944, a daughter of the late Edmund “Mark” and Jane Slade Wilcox. She attended Canton schools and graduated in the class of 1962. She was a member of the Calvary Alliance Chapel. She was employed for a time by the Penn York Company in Athens and the Martha Lloyd School in Troy, PA where she resided for a number of years. “Our Little Guardian Angel” was the nickname given Kathleen by her many friends at Martha Lloyd. William B. WOLCOTT, 70, of Troy, PA, died Tuesday, February 22, 2000 at the Bradford County Manor following a period of declining health. Born July 18, 1929 in Brooktondale, NY, he was the son of the late George and Eva Cartright Wolcott. William was educated in the Elmira, NY schools and was employed by various steel companies in Buffalo, NY. He became an orderly in the 1950’s and worked in hospitals and nursing homes, both in New York and Florida. He attended the Troy Methodist Church. He is survived by sisters, Lela Rogers of Watkins Glen, NY, Ellen Corning of DeLand, FL, Louise and her husband James Miller of Cayuta, NY, Betty Woodyard of Houghton, NY; a brother, Donald and his wife Wanda Wolcott of Land O’Lakes, FL; a brother-in-law, Ted Galley of Ocala, FL; several nieces and nephews; many friends including Robert Long of Troy with whom he made his home. Ellis Guy WOLESLAGLE, 85, of Auburn, NY died July 25, 2001, at Mercy Health and Rehabilitation Center, Auburn. He was born in Troy, PA, a son of the late Guy Blaine and Charlotte Ellis Woleslagle. He graduated from Troy High School and LaSalle Extension University, Chicago, Ill. He served in the US Army from 1942 to 1945, during World War II, receiving four battle stars. He was supervisor of accounting for Smith Corona, retiring in 1974. He also worked as corporate secretary for E.D. Clapp Manufacturing Co., Suburn and as corporate director of Ivanhoe Foods Inc. Auburn. He is survived by his wife, June Parker Woleslagle; daughter, Junell Blaylock of Warrenton, NC; sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth and Patricia of Dellona, FL, and Lyle and Jennifer of North Syracuse; sisters, Helen Wrisley of Wellsboro, PA. Benjamin (Ben) E. YOHN, 77, of Annville, PA, died at Hershey Medical Center on July 31, 1998. Ben was born Feb. 13, 1921 in Perry County, PA. he was a member of trinity United Chkurch of Christ, Palmyra, and the Palmyra VFW. He served in active duty with the U.S. Army during WWII and also served as a Boy Scout leader. Ben retired in 1982 from Hershey Chocolate Factory after 42 years. His children foundly remember their father returning home from work smelling like Hershey Chocolate candy. He will be remembered in our local area for his support of the Rainbow Riders handicapped program when his granddaughters, Julie and Dixie Lehman were volunteers. He often supplied the group with chocolate candy treats and financial support. Ben is survived by his sons, Benjamin E. Yohn II and wife, Linda of Palmyra. Bernie L. Yohn and wife, Kathy, of Lebanon, PA; daughters, Beverly and Thomas G. Bross, of Palmyra, Bonnie and Dennis R. Lehman, Columbia cross roads. Ben was especially proud of his grandchildren and loved them dearly. A very difficult time in his life cane in 1993 when his granddaughter Julie Lehman preceded him in death. He is also survived by grandsons, Thomas, Tarin and Tyson Bross, Benjamin IIII, and Griffin Yohn and Sgt. Gregory A. Lehman; granddaughters Marcy and Dixie Lehman and Nicole Yohn. He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle A. (Geib) Yohn; and brothers, devid John, James, Russell, Arthur, Lester, and Robert; sisters, Violet Yohn, Emma Anderson and Janet Frownfelter. A graveside military service was held at Grandview Memorial Cemetery, Annville, on August 4, 1998.

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and many other close relatives and friends. A well-attended service was held at the grace Mennonite Church in Phoenix. ? Betty J. ROGERS, age 76, formerly of Waverly, NY, died June 2, 1999,
at the Bradford County Manor, following an extended illness. She was born
April 15, 1923, in Laceyville, PA. Betty was a life member of the Church
on the Hill, Milan, PA, where she taught Sunday school. She helped with
the chicken barbecues and volunteered with the help line Ministry. Betty
was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. She received a certificate of
merit from the Bradford County Manor for her work as a resident volunteer.

? Glaedys Mae Bush STEHR, 76i, of Hatboro, PA died Saturday, September
30, 1995 at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook, PA. Glaedys was a
member of Horsham Bible Church for more than 40 years where she taught Sunday
school and Pioneer Girls. She is survived by her husband, Warren W. Stehr;
daughters, Kae M. Hicks-Gamble of troy RR 3 and Donna L. Courts of Hatboro, PA;
sons-in-law, Jay B. Gamble of troy RR 3 and Lori (Hewitt) Hicks of troy RR 3;
Scott and Heidi (Hutter) Hicks and William “Bill” Hicks, both in the U.S.
Army at Ft. Bragg, NC; and Kevin, Laura and Jamie Courts of Hatboro; one
great-grandchild, Brittany Dakota Hicks of troy RR 3. funeral services
were held October 4 at Horsham Bible Church in Horsham with interment to be in
Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn, PA. Arrangements were by A. Groh Schneeder
Funeral Home in Hatboro. Pallbearers were Tim, Scott and Bill Hicks; Kevin
courts; Harry Courts; and a nephew, Ricky Teitsworth.
