AUGUSTINE Richard J
Richard J. Age 65, of Watkins Glen, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at Seneca View S.N.F., Montour Falls, NY. Born in Montour Falls, to parents, John and Margaret (Butray) Augustine, he graduated with the Watkins Glen Central School Class of 1959. He later received his Masters Degree in Education from Elmira College and taught 25 years at the Elmira Correctional Facility, retiring in 1991. He was married to his wife, Joan L. Augustine for 43 years, who recently predeceased him on March 5, 2006. He was also predeceased by his parents, and son Ricky. He is survived by sons, John and wife, Amy Benedict-Augustine of Brooktondale, Chris and wife, Terri Augustine of Horseheads, Dickie Augustine of Watkins Glen; brothers, Tom Augustine of Watkins Glen, and Ed and wife, Lorraine Augustine of Watkins Glen; six grandchildren, Tony, Joey, Sara, Katy, Zachary and Lauren; mother-in-law, Gertrude Rouse of Watkins Glen, and sister-in-law, Barbara and husband, Joseph Fazzary of Watkins Glen. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. BACORN Charlotte Marie SHERMAN, age 70, of Dushore, PA and formerly of Overton, PA, died Friday, May 5, 2000 at Memorial Hospital in Towanda, PA.  She was born January 7, 1930 in Elkland Township, Sullivan County, PA, a daughter of the late Floyd and Julia Chapman Bacorn.  She was a lifetime resident of the Branford-Sullivan County area and a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Overton.  Prior to her retirement in 1970 she was employed by Ryneveld Manufacturing, giving 41 years of service.  She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Morningstar of New Albany, PA; sisters, Ruth Wilcox of Troy, PA and Isabel Wiles of Athens, PA; brothers, Vernon of New Albany , PA, Robert Calvin of Merton Bacorn all of Chemung, NY: three grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Walter Sherman , 1996; brothers, Rodney and Russell Bacorn and sisters, Genevieve Bacorn and Blanche Brewer.  Funeral services were held May 9 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Overton with Rev. Robert Martin officiating and interment to be in Warburton Hill Cemetery, Overton.  Arrangements were by the Russell P. BALL Sarah J
Sarah J . Age 84 of Elmira, at peace after an extended illness, died Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Sarah was born in Keene NH, a daughter of the late Ernest W. and Victoria (Webster) Ball. She was preceded in death by her brother Johnny. Sarah is survived by nine sisters and four brothers. She shared her Elmira residence with her sister, and best friend, Elizabeth Ball for over 50 years. Also survived by long time special friend Richard Watson of Elmira; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. She had worked at Remington Rand for over 25 years and retired from Hardinge Inc. after 10 years of service. Sarah enjoyed shopping and picking up a "good deal." BEVERLY  Scott Douglas Age 44, of Palmyra, born and raised in Elmira, NY, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Beverly was preceded in death by his father, Luther D. Beverly. Scott served his country as part of the U.S. Navy. Scott is survived by his mother, Bonnie G. Edwards and her husband, Richard; two sons, Joshua S. Beverly and Matthew S. Beverly; good friend and son's mother, Teresa L. Beverly of Virginia Beach. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Barbara Goyette of Horseheads, NY; a stepbrother, David M. Edwards of Fenton, MO; as well as countless members of an ever-growing family. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2006, at St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Simeon with the Reverend Rodney Caulkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. BEYLER Gregory L
Gregory L. Age 79, of Bath, NY, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at the Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital. He was born in Elmira, NY September 2, 1926, the son of Joseph and Lulu Bennett Beyler. Mr. Beyler was a World War II and Korean War, Air Force Veteran. He was a retired Switching Technician for the New York Telephone Company for 42 years and an avid Railroader and loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Lenore Beyler of Bath; three daughters, Denise (Walter) Stanley of Deland, FL, Gail (John) Bryson of Bath, NY, and Eileen (Richard) Senko of Palm Court, FL; six sons, Mitchell (Rita) Beyler of Brockport, NY, Daniel (Charisse) Beyler of Fishers, IN, Randall Beyler of Lebanon, PA, Gregory Beyler of Rochester, NY, Matthew Beyler of Avoca, NY and Michael (Brenda) Beyler of Bath, NY; 32 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. His parents; son, Douglas; and two sisters, Blanche and Rita, predeceased him. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Bath with Reverend John Wydeven presider. RUMSEY Barbara Age 72, of Blossburg, PA, formerly of Corning, died March 15, 2006 at home while surrounded by loving family. Born June 13, 1933 in Blossburg, a daughter of the late John and Mary Shultz Boinski. Employed by Weyerhaeuser Co. (Corning Box Factory) for many years, Barb retired in 1989. She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Blossburg. Throughout life her main interest encompassed her family and home. Surviving are her children, Michael Rumsey of Blossburg, Gary Rumsey of Hammondsport, NY, Timothy Rumsey of Rome, NY, Robert Crowe II of St. Augustine, FL, Kathleen Morrow of Corning, NY; grandchildren, Daniel Miller, Jeffrey, Jill, Timothy and Michael Rumsey, Kassandra, Barbara and Ryan Morrow, Rebecca and Jacob Crowe, Jacky Scalise, Christine and W. Reginal Cummings; great-grandchildren, Mataya and Renee' Nickerson, Liam Thomas, Ty Rodriguez, Gabriel, Christian and Brittaney Cummings, Tyler Southard, Jacob Button, Jenna Miller and Thomas Vogel; siblings, Charles Boinski, Martha Aston, Rose Mahosky and Janice Lindquest, all of Blossburg, and Kenneth Boinski of FL. She was predeceased by her husband at heart, Robert Crowe; and sisters, Marion Stanton, Marguerite Lundquist, Dorothy Raker and Katherine Boinski; and a brother, John Boinski. (BRAMBLE) Zondra Carole Age 74, died peacefully on Monday, March 13, 2006, following an extended illness. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Russell Bramble; stepbrother, William Force of Elmira, NY; and stepsister, Betsy Force of Cooperstown, NY. Mrs. Bramble was an Executive Secretary at the Elmira Savings Bank in Elmira, New York, before she and her husband moved to Tampa, FL, in 1970. She was an Executive Secretary as well as Assistant Cashier at Northside Bank for a number of years before retiring. A memorial service and celebration of her life will take place at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at the Fletcher Health & Rehab Center, 518 W. Fletcher Avenue, Tampa. BUSS Donald A. “Meech”
Donald A. "Meech" Age 84, of Bethlehem, PA and formerly of Brookfield Township, Tioga County, PA, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, in Manor Care Health Services II, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Evelyn M. (Bernstein) Buss who died in 1985. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Arthur and Florence (Bodder) Buss. He was a 1943 graduate of Bethlehem Business College and served in the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater with the 5th Fleet. Donald was the Knoxville Borough Manager from 1976-1984; prior, he owned and operated Eagle Printing of Allentown for 30 years; and before that he worked for Bethlehem Steel Payroll. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Bethlehem; member and past trustee of the VFW Post 6753 of Knoxville; member of the American Legion Post 519 of Westfield; member of the Sampson WW2 Navy Veterans. Survivors include daughter, Carol A. Jurasits and her husband, John, of Bethlehem; sons, Richard D. and his wife, Esther, of Saylorsburg, and Robert D. of Lords Valley; three grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and a great-great-granddaughter. Coach John P. Age 92, of Litchfield, died on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. An informal gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 11, from 4-6 p.m. at the Sayre High School Gym. At 6:00 p.m. there will be a time of remembrance with close friends of Coach Childs looking back at his wonderful life. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2006 at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Athens on South Main St. A time of gathering of family and friends will be held from 1-3 p.m. before the memorial service at the church. CACCIOTTI Nancy A. DUNBAR, 47, of Storrs, CT, died Wednesday, July 19, 2000 at Hartford Hospital.  She was born August 17, 1952 in Elmira, NY the daughter of John and Hazel (Borgeson) Cacciotti of Horseheads, NY and had lived in Storrs since 1974.  She was employed at the Windham Hospital for 26 years as an intensive care unit nurse and as a nursing supervisor.  In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Lee Dunbar, at home; three daughters and a son-in-law; two brothers and two sisters, several nieces, nephews and many friends.  A Funeral Mass was celebrated July 21 at St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel in Storrs with burial to be in the Mansfield Center Cemetery.  Arrangements were in charge of the Potter Funeral Home in Willimanic, CT.  Memorial contributions may be sent to the American cancer Society, 238 West Town Street, Norwich, CT 06360.  “Troy Gazette-Register,” Troy, PA  Thursday, August 3, 2000

Joseph P. Age 68, of Elmira, NY, died on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born on June 21, 1937 to the late Max Clement and Mary Mildred (Patterson) Clark. Joseph was predeceased by his parents and his granddaughter, Tina Marie. Survivors include his wife, Frances Clark of Elmira; daughters, Elizebeth (Joseph) Green of Liverpool, NY and Constance (Terry) Mattocks of Camillus, NY; sons, Stephen (Michelle) Clark of Elmira, Daniel Clark of Elmira, Rodney (Joanna) Babbitt of Bath, NY, Todd (Penny) Stone of Campbell, NY, Jeff (Carlene) Stone of Campbell, NY, Scott (Diane) Stone of Bath, NY, David (Denise) Stone of Bath, NY and Patrick (Teresa) Stone of Tioga, PA; sister, Constance Louise (Robert) Fuller of Elmira; brothers, William A. (Dawn) Clark of Columbus, OH and John F. (Joyce) Clark of Chemung, NY; grandchildren, Latisha (Alex) Rivera, Chauntel and Lamar Green, Katie, Kelley and Colin Mattocks, Stephen and Christopher Clark, Rodney and Kevin Babbitt, Michael, Britney, Ryan, Kyle, Jordan, Joshua, Krystina, Tyler and Dodge Stone, Brandon Rumsey, Autumn, Taylor and Jack Stone and Bailee Causer; great-granddaughter, Aiyana Rivera. Joseph was a lifelong resident of Elmira. He graduated from Southside High School Class of 1955 and was class president his freshman and sophomore years. Joseph also attended Cortland State Teachers College. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in Korea. Joseph was employed by Sears Roebuck and Co. for 14 years and then became a self-employed contractor for 29 years. He was a member of the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research (IDMR) in Elmira. A Memorial Service for Joseph will be announced at a later date.

CONNELLY John Paul
John Paul Former CCC Professor Age 62, of Pine City, NY, died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. John was born at Arnot Ogden Hospital October 22, 1943, a son of Mary (Kubinski) Connelly and the late Gordon R. Connelly. He was a 1961 graduate of Notre Dame High School and a 1969 graduate of Ohio State University where he earned a degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master's of Business Administration. From 1969 - 2002 John taught economics at Corning Community College. He served three terms on the Elmira City School District Board of Education. In addition to his mother John is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Ellen (Hoadley) Connelly; daughters, Erin and Heather; brother Thomas (Suzanne) Connelly; uncle Jack (Thelma) Kubinski; nephew Jeffrey (Heather) Connelly and niece Kathryn (Carmen) Clark and family. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Saviour Monastery, on Monastery Road, off Hendy Creek Road (Route 225). After the service there will be a time of sharing with John's family. CHRISTENSEN  Peter C. Dundee Age 26, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 23, 2006, in North Dansville, NY. Peter was born Sept. 14, 1979 in Elmira, NY, the son of Carl T. and Connie R. Woodard Christensen. Peter was a caring son, brother, and friend. He had many interests, but basketball was his favorite, having played nearly all of his life. He played high school basketball at Dundee, and received the Ricky Kendall Award, he was an exceptional senior and Finger Lakes All-Star, graduating from Dundee Central School in 1997. He attended Alfred State and Paul Smith's College and played on the basketball team at Paul Smith's. He was currently employed by DeVissers Nursery of Rochester. Peter was a member of the Dundee Baptist Church, the Sons of the Dundee American Legion, and the North American Fishing Club, he loved music, the outdoors, fishing, camping, and hiking. Most of all, Peter loved his family and friends. He is loved and will be dearly missed by his parents, Carl and Connie Christensen at home; two sisters, Jennie E. (Zachary) Race of Pulteney, and Mary M. (Jeremy Young) Christensen of Penn Yan; a brother, Eric T. Christensen attending the University of Albany; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. CRIPPEN Jack L. Age 72, (SRGP 08028) of Mansfield, PA, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. Jack was the husband of Betty (Hamilton) Crippen; together they observed their 52nd wedding anniversary on February 25, 2006. Jack was born on October 23, 1933 in Elmira, NY, the son of Rexford and H. Marguerite (Holton) Crippen. Jack was a 1951 graduate of Mansfield High School, a US Marine veteran of the Korean War, retired from Dresser Rand in Painted Post, NY, a member of the local 313 and attended the Cherry Flats Baptist Church. Jack is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons and daughters-in-law, Monte E. and Hisuk Crippen of Howell, NJ, Jeffery and Michelle Crippen of Rome, NY; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia Geneski of Tioga, PA, Pamela and Richard Wilcox of Belfast, NY, Nancy and Daryl Sterling of Roseville, PA; 12 grandchildren, five great-grand-children; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Beverly and Merle "Stub" Watson of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, Sandra and Harvey Woodburn of Elmira, NY; a brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Barbara Crippen of Roseville, PA; several nieces and nephews. NAILEN Monica Daly Age 77, of Seattle, WA, the wife of William T. Nailen, died Thursday, March 23, at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Elmira, NY, she was the daughter of Robert E. and Beatrice Macdonald Daly. She attended St. Patrick's School and was a 1946 graduate of the Elmira Free Academy. In the 1950s, she worked for the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, and for the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations. She was a former resident of Horseheads and Forest Hills, NY; Granada Hills, Northridge and Palo Alto, CA; and Trumbull, CT. She was a homemaker, a gardener, a weaver and a staunch opponent of the Bush administration. In addition to her husband of 51 years, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael C. Nailen and Tilman C. Smith of Seattle; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Laura A. Nailen of Bridgeport, CT, Margaret E. Nailen and Erik Feltstrom of Mountlake Terrace, WA, and Sara N. and Brett A. Matschke of Trumbull, CT; four grandchildren, Brady and Langston Nailen and Nailen and Peter Matschke; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Margaret Schornstheimer of Elmira, NY, and Mary and William Richards of Doylestown, PA; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Robert E. and Victoria Daly of Palmyra, NY, and Clara Daly of Horseheads, NY; many nieces and nephews; and a longtime dear friend, Barbara Mnookin of Prairie Village, KA. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Daly; and a sister, Loretta Daly Hughes.

DARBEE Mary Margaret
BEGEAL Mary Margaret Darbee Passed on to those she loved March 29, 2006. Mary was born August 2, 1913 in West Park, NY. She was ninety-two years old, and lived most of her life in Van Etten, NY, where she taught school until she retired in 1975. She began her teaching career in Roscoe, NY, after she completed her education at Normal School of New Paltz. She also taught in Breesport, NY. She leaves behind so many of her former pupils of which she so fondly and often recalled. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cedar Chapter 400, Van Etten, NY. Aside from her family, her greatest joy was reading, so much so that she re-read most of her favorite books many times. Her thirst for knowledge was insatiable which became a lifelong quest. At Mary's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Mary has joined her loving husband, Quentin Grant, who died in 1990 to whom she was married for 44 years. Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Harry, Cle, Wesley and Bob Darbee. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Norman Cundy; stepson, Ralph Begeal; step son-in-law, Walter Alpi; and step daughter-in-law, Marlene Begeal. Howard W. (Red) Age 79, of Horseheads, NY, formerly of Hamburg, NY, died March 26, 2006 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston Salem, NC. He was born Jan. 19, 1927 in Elmira, NY, the son of Walter and Claudia Doland. He retired from the Ford Motor Co., Buffalo, NY, after 35 yrs. of service where he was foreman of the tool and die dept. Leste DUNBAR, 87, on Troy RR 2, PA died Monday, August 27, 2001 at his home.  He was born on Armenia Mountain on May 3, 1914, a son of the late Homer and Elizabeth (Hawthorne) Dunbar.  Lester attended Troy High School and graduated with the class of 1935.  Lester worked as a farm equipment service technician for many years, retiring in 1976.  Lester attended the east Troy Baptist Church.  He was very active as a 4-H leader in East Troy and was a Troy Little League Coach.  Mr. Dunbar was honored as Sportsman of the Year by the Pennsylvania Game Commission.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Christine VanHorn Dunbar; daughters, Mary Jean and Ron Ayres of Troy, PA, Donna and Gary Smith of Philippi, WV, Lynell and John Anderson of Canton, PA; son, Clark and Janet Griffin of Troy, PA; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; special friends, Stub and Helen Wilston of Armenia Mtsn.; sisters, Eloise Shook and Margaret Billingsley, both of Armenia Mtn.  Lester was preceded in death by a son, Layton Dunbar in 1957; and two grandchildren, Lora K. Daniel J. "Dan" Age 67, of 52 Scouten Hill Road, Wellsboro, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at his home. He was born June 7, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Daniel and Catherine (Regan) Gallagher. Dan married Catherine "Kay" McGarvey on April 18, 1959 at St. Katherines of Siena in Wayne, PA. Dan was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved tossing his line into the Salmon River and Lake Ontario, NY. Dan enjoyed telling fish tales and entertaining his friends around the campfire at his home-away-from-home in Palaski, NY. Dan was a member of No-Doe Rod and Gun Club, Hills Creek, and a member of the Salmon River Hookers, Palaski. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Shawn, of Wellsboro, and David, of Lock Haven; a daughter-in-law, Shannon, and two grandsons, John Paul and Patrick; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Joan, of WestChester, and their children, Colleen, John, Shannon and Kerry; and many sisters and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews. Naomi Mary Of Elmira, NY, died on February 26, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Gardner. Born in Olyphant, PA, on August 6, 1929 she spent a part of her youth in Elmira and returned in 1956 where she lived for the next 50 years. She was a former employee of the Remington Rand Corporation and Capabilities, Inc. She is survived by her three sons, David (Ellyn), Mark (Mary Lou) and Michael (Antoinette); nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was the mother of the late Deborah (Joseph) Marotta.  Funeral services will be private at the request of the family.

GENSCHOW Jutta Died at sunrise on Sunday, March 5th, 2006 at age 92. She was the wife of Hans-Jurgen Genschow, Pastor of the Lutheran Church in Wederau, Germany. Mrs. Genschow immigrated to the United States in 1955, and moved to Elmira in 1987. She is survived by her two daughters, the photographer, Heidi Jain and Ulrike Erwin and her three granddaughters, Andrea Jain, Kim Erwin and Christine Erwin. He life was rarely uneventful. Gregory W. of Westfield, PA Age 45, formerly of Smethport, PA, received his reward and left for Heaven on March 24, 2006. Born October 8, 1960 in Bradford, PA, he was the son of Beverly Weldy and the late Henry Gifford. Greg married the love of his life, Marcy Hall Little, on December 27, 2003 in Westfield. He worked in many jobs as an equipment operator and crew leader, including Haliburton and Turtle Companies. He was a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church in Gifford, PA and Westfield First Baptist Church. Greg was a man of God and lived his life each day for the Lord. He was loved and admired by all who passed in and out of his life. BALLINGER Nancy G. Age 57, of Rodaha Dr., Corning, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 23, at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Nancy was born in Sayre, the daughter of David and Eleanor Walker Grant. She attended and graduated from Waverly High School, attending Corning Community College and on to Elmira College, where she received her Bachelor's degree. In July of 1976 she married Roger Ballinger in Waverly, New York. Roger died in 2003. Nancy attended the Big Flats Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Corning Moose Lodge, and was a Lioness. Nancy enjoyed bowling, was very involved in the Special Olympics, and very much enjoyed visiting friends and those in need of comfort. Smith, celebrated their 51 wedding anniversary on July 3. Born on December 12, 1930 in Duboistown and was the son of William and Miriam Keller Hampton. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School. He retired from Westinghouse as a supervisor of maintenance. Following retirement he worked at Electronics Boutique in the Lycoming Mall. Jack served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Air Force. In addition to his wife Jack is survived by one daughter, Linda M. Reeves and son-in-law Jerome of Fairfield, TX; one son, Jeffrey C. ANDRUS Rosalie Lane (Hugg) died in the arms of her family at home on Monday, March 13, 2006, at the age of 66. A lifelong resident of the area, Rosalie graduated from Southside High School. Her loving family, Margaret, Walter and Robert Hugg of Elmira, predeceased her. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Andrus; her children, Scott, Anna, Amber and Sally Andrus; her grandchildren, Burt Riley, Belle Riley, Heather Andrus, Lana Marie Cook and John Jacob Cook; sister-in-law, Gladys McLean; nieces and nephews, Fred Susan, Bonnie, Robert and Dennis; several grandnieces and nephews; cousins, Shirley Davis of North Carolina; her beloved Audry Johnson of Rome, NY; along with many others that she loved and cared for. Rosalie's life was dedicated to helping others and their health and well-being. She worked for many local restaurants, attended Elmira College for nutrition, was an outreach worker for the same at Cornell Cooperative Extension, Office for the Aging as meal site director, Ernie Davis Middle School cafeteria and most recently, at Wegman's Food Court in Elmira for 7 years until she retired in 2004. She was an honest, loving, hard working person and a wonderful wife and mother. Rosalie's legacy was left through the people she touched with her beautiful spirit. Her hope was that the family homestead that she helped to expand would continue to thrive and grow, helping others attain peace and well-being. Linda Lee Of Rock Cabin Rd., Montour Falls, NY, died. She was born on February 21, 1947 in Abington, PA, a daughter of the late Frank Wilbur and Myrtle Elizabeth (McGowan) Kay. Linda was a graduate of Upper Moreland High School and received her Bachelor's degree from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia and her Master's degree from Mansfield College. She was formerly employed with the Elmira City Schools as an elementary art teacher. Linda was a talented painter and enjoyed driving transport for Schuyler County Department of Social Services for Medicaid clients. KEYES Dorothy Kinsman Age 84, a native of Elmira, homemaker and avid gardener died February 21, 2006 after a brief illness. Born September 7, 1921 in Elmira, NY, Mrs. Keyes was the daughter of the late Richard E. and Helen M. Kinsman. She graduated from Elmira Free Academy, Elmira, NY and attended Hood College, Fredrick, MD. She married George T. Keyes, Jr., January 30, 1943 in Elmira. They moved to Old Greenwich, CT in 1950. She and her family enjoyed many summers on Keuka Lake, Penn Yan, NY. She moved to Edgehill Retirement Community in 2002. Mrs. Keyes was a member of the First Congregational Church of Greenwich, a past president of the Riverside Garden Club and a former member of Rocky Point Yacht Club in Old Greenwich. She was a girl scout leader, a boy scout leader, and president of the Riverside School PTA. She is survived by a brother, F. William Kinsman of Fairport, NY; and a sister, Mary K. Monroe of Elmira, NY; two children, Susan K. Lynch and Richard K. Keyes; and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, George, in 1993; and her sister, Katherine K. Scott. H. Stanford Jr., "Junior" Age 82, of Knoxville, PA, died on March 7, 2006 at the Green Home, Inc., Wellsboro, PA. He married his childhood sweetheart, Naoma Wood Leathers, former elementary teacher of Elkland and Knoxville, PA, and observed their 60th wedding anniversary on September 2, 2005. Born in Knoxville, he was the son of the late H.S. Leathers Sr. and Sue Bennet Leathers. He graduated from Knoxville High School, class of '41, and attended Penn State University before being inducted into the Armed Forces of WWII. In 1945 he assumed ownership of H.S. Leathers and Son Hardware, established by his father in 1922. His Christian beliefs permeated every facet of his life, and he enjoyed serving the community by operating his business for the past 61 years. In addition to his lovely wife, he is survived by his loving children, Janice Leathers, Painted Post, NY, Doren Leathers, Kennett Square, PA, and Rhonda (Walt) Emmons of Endicott, NY; four grandchildren, one great-grand-daughter; sisters, Phyllis Hamilton of Beaumont, TX, and Jean Frank of Glens Falls, NY. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Gilbert of Canton, NY. LOSEY Jerry W. of Galeton, PA Age 59, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in his home. Born July 6, 1946 in Wellsboro, he was the son of Walter "Ben" and Shirley Surdam Losey. A 1964 graduate of Galeton High School, he served with the US Army for three years. He was employed by North Penn Gas Co. for 32 years. Surviving are: two brothers, Lin Losey of Galeton and Michael (Laurie) Losey of Olean, NY; two sisters, Yvonne McCutcheon of Galeton and Donna (Arthur) Keaton of Taunton, MA; nieces and nephews; and special friend, Sandra Brooks of Galeton. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Rex Losey, in 1997; and a nephew, Dirk McCutcheon, in 1985. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Ralph in 1999; and also a son, Ralph Jr. in 1988. Ruth is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jean Ann Randall of Elmira; grandchildren, Deborah (Michael) Hlubek of Bracken, TX, David (Susan) Randall, with whom she resided, of Watkins Glen, Diane (Lester Jr.) Padgett of Elmira, NY, Dawn (John) Call of Horseheads, NY; great-grandchildren, Joshua Randall, Sean and Heidi Call, Skyler and Jaxson Cicora; sister-in-law, Hannah Christastie of Horseheads; and several nieces, nephews and grandnieces, nephews; and special caregiver and friend, Lila Edminster. PRESTA Yvonne - She went to be with her beloved husband, Rick Presta on February 24, 2006, Rick died
, November 17, 1999. Both gave cancer a tough fight. Survived by daughters Denise (Dick) Reynolds, Michelle (Jeff) Olson, Maureen (Kurt) Widmann; sons, Darrin Presta, Mike (Liberty) Presta; grandchildren, Kyle and Kayla Olson all of Wisconsin. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Polly Neiley, a niece, Leslie (Ernie) Osburn; a nephew, Vaughn (Karen) Neiley; two great nieces, Adina and Amelia Osburn all of Elmira. She is also survived by many wonderful friends both in Wisconsin and Elmira, NY. After living away, she returned to her hometown of Elmira in 2004. Yvonne requested there be no services, she was cremated at the Northern Bradford Crematory and her ashes were scattered with her husbands.

KIMBELL Linda A. Age 57 of Horseheads, died Monday evening, March 6, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a daughter of the late Floyd C. and Delores Miller Palmer Jr. Linda was a 19 year employee at Thomas & Betts in Horseheads and later worked at St. Joseph's Hospital until her illness. She is survived by her sons: Steven E. (Bonnie) Kimbell of Elmira, NY, and Jason L. (Jennifer) Kimbell of Beaver Dams, NY; sisters: Carolyn M Crown of Horseheads, NY and Cindy L. (Donald) Loop of Erin, NY; brother: Paul A. (Marilyn) Palmer of Elmira, NY; grandchildren: Victoria, Joshua, Alex, Alison, Ashley, Caitlyn and Kylie; nephew, Joseph M. Crown and niece, Amber R. Black along with several aunts and uncles. Linda especially cherished spending time with her family, friends and precious grandbabies. CAMERON (RICHARDSON), Joan L. 1935-2006. The Angels called on her February 28, 2006. Joni was born and raised in Wellsburg, NY and moved to Arizona in 1979. She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband Terry, ex-husband Ernest Cicci of Elmira, parents Alberta and Clarence Richardson, sister Cindy Cowell, daughter and son-in-law Robin and Jim Grace. She is survived by her children Ted, Mark (Sue), Terry (Traci), Karen Cicci and Michelle Miller (John). Her grandchildren Joshua (Andrea), Jerica, Cody, Ryan, Jarred, Jordyn, Terry II (Jasmine), Taylor, Melissa, Michael, Mindy, Sam, Jessana, Danielle and Kalyn. Great-grandchildren Maya, Zoe, Julie and Alexander and sister-in-law Rosalie Carnegie. Joni was so much fun and was loved tremendously by her children, grandchildren and long time friends. A small memorial in which we read a letter from her was held in Chandler, Az. Where she resided. Her favorite memories were of childhood growing up in Wellsburg, NY with her parents and her great friends Carolyn, Alice and Mary. She loved her Uncle Walt (deceased) and sister-in-law Rosalie dearly; raising her 6 children with Ernie Cicci in Plymouth, Ct; as well as her many adventures in Arizona. She enjoyed trips to Mexico, New Orleans and Hawaii but her best times were with her family at the holidays. As a child and throughout Joni's life, Christmas and Easter meant lots of love and warmth throughout her home and our hearts. She was our rock and was encouraging to those around her. RUSCZAK Christopher C. Age 38, of Keewatin, Minnesota, formerly of Horseheads, NY, died on November 19, 2005 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Chris died at his home, surrounded by several of his closest friends and his parents, Linda and Charles Rusczak and his sister Suzanne, all of Horseheads. His two daughters, Tiana and Brandi were also at his side, along with their mother Bobbi Rusczak of Hibbing, Minnesota. His maternal grandmother, Shirley Callear of Horseheads, also survives Chris, as do several aunts, uncles and cousins. Christopher was born September 15, 1967 in Elmira, NY, where he grew up and graduated in 1985 from Horseheads High School. He was a Navy veteran for four years, stationed in San Diego. After his discharge from the Navy, he lived and worked in Horseheads for 2 years, until he moved to Northern Minnesota, where he worked for L&M Radiator, as a salesman in several Eastern and Southern states. Chris was an avid car enthusiast and NASCAR race fan, and also deeply enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and scuba diving. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing, Minnesota on Friday, November 25, 2005. There will be a memorial service and reception to celebrate Christopher's life for the many relatives and friends who could not attend his services in Minnesota in November. This will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2006, from 2-4 p.m., at the Bethany Village Appleridge Facility. The Rev. Earl Barfoot will officiate. Formerly of Columbia Street Was born March 10, 1915 in Elmira Heights, NY, the daughter of the late Michael and Fannie (Skorodinski) Sopp. She died peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility at the age of 91. Her daughter, Betty Crannell; grandson, James Trask; sisters, Kathryn Soper, Mary Dildine and Fannie Card; brothers, John and Sam Sopp, predeceased Anna. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Ross L. Hapeman of Elmira Heights, NY; grandson, Gregory (Charity) Crannell of Brainard, MN; sisters, Dorothy (David) Matison of Horseheads, NY, Florence Waters also of Horseheads, NY, Eva (Orvis) Swisher of Beaver Dams, NY; brother-in-law, Rexford Card of Millerton, PA; along with many nieces and nephews. Anna volunteered for the Social Security Administration as a tax preparer for 25 years and also volunteered for the Chemung County Board of Elections. She retired from Westinghouse Corporation after many years of dedicated service. Mrs. Hapeman was a landlord for many properties in the Elmira area, especially the 'Castle' at 615 Columbia Street. She was predeceased by her brothers, Carl, Fred, Jacob and Herman Stadelmaier; grandson, Christopher Long; great-grandson, Mitchell Long. Esther is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Charles H. Robert SWAN, Jr.
Robert Swan, Jr., of Hyannis Port, Mass., died Thursday April 23, 1964.  He is survived by wife, Mrs. Mary Ruf McDonald Swan, two daughters, one son; sister Miss Annie R. Swan of Pittsburgh; brothers Richard J. Swan of Carmel, Calif. And William M. Swan of Mansfield; several grandchildren.  Both Mr. And Mrs. Swan are well known in Mansfield.  Mr. Swan was formerly engaged in highway construction and in 1928 and 1929 built many roads in this area and at that time was a member of the Corey Creek golf club.  Funeral services were held at the St. Mary's Protestant  Episcopal Church at Barnstable, Mass., on Saturday with burial in the Centerville Cemetery. While going through some papers of my mothers, I came across this obituary on a Mr. Robert Swan.  I would assume it is a relative but not sure.  Mr. Swan was from Mansfield and my mother was also born there in 1909, and her maiden name was Swan.  The obituary below is written directly from the clipping I have.  If someone knows this family I would like to hear from them.  I hope someone knows this family and maybe I can find the connection to my family.  Nancy Jess 313 E. KIBBE N. Marie of Westfield, PA Age 68, died Friday, March 17, 2006, in her home. Born April 27, 1937 in Blossburg, PA, she was the daughter of John R. and Nora Belle Glover Tubbs. She was employed by Electri-Cord in Westfield, Elkland Dress Co., and McDonald's in Syracuse, NY. Surviving are five daughters, Sandra (Al) Seeley of Westfield, Sharon (Clyde "Stub") Pierce of Sabinsville, PA, Teresa Madison (Dan) Thomas of Corning, NY, Quenna (Cory) Stilson of Ulysses, and Melanie (John Fleming) Johnson of Corning, NY; a son, Charles "Chuck" (Darlene) Plank of Harrison Valley; 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley Tubbs of Gaines, PA and Charles (Melva) Tubbs of Ulysses; two sisters, Genevieve Flynn of Osceola, PA and Kathryn Hillyard of Ulysses; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Winford Tubbs and Sidney Tubbs. Friends may call Sunday, March 19th, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA, where Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 6:00 p.m. Her nephew, Allan S. Tubbs, will officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.

Lelia M. Age 95, (SRGP 10854) of Caton, died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Painted Post, NY on May 21, 1910, to Phillip and Julie (Jenks) Ward. She married Damon Card in 1929 and was preceded in death by him in 1976. Lelia loved spending time with her family, reading, and kniting. She attend the Caton United Methodist Church. Her survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Eldred of Caton; two sons, Alex (Bonita) Card of Orange Park, Florida and Leon (Patricia) Card of Caton; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Lelia was predeceased by her son, Damon Card, Jr.; brothers, Robert Ward, Phillip Ward, Jr., and Nelson Ward; and by her sisters, Marian Harrington, Etta Mae Ward, and Doris Cole. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 1 - 3 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street in Corning, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Beth Bouwens officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Caton, NY. WHITELEY Zeta Burgess KAST, age 86, of Forksville RR, PA, died Saturday, April 8, 2000 in the Dar-Way Nursing Home.  She was born August 26, 1913 in Elkland Township, Sullivan County, a daughter of the late Roy and Fannie McCarty Whiteley.  Zeta was a school teacher ost of her life; she was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ of Elkland.  Zeta was a former member of the Canton Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.  Zeta had been married to the late Roseoe Burgess of Elkland and they raised two daughters.  She later married William Kast of Dushore who also preceded her in death.  Her survivors include:  daughters and sons-in-law, Robert and Sondra Kaufhold of Lancaster, PA and Roy and Dawn Zimmerman of Forksville, PA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren including m mark, Taja, Aaron and Justin Zimmerman of Troy, PA and Tytus, Catherine and Zachery Zimmerman of West Hazleton, PA; a sister, Mrs Ruth Bennett of Forksville.  Memorial services were held April 15 (11 am) in St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Elkland.  Arrangements were by the Russel P. RENDER Grace E. Age 85, and formerly of Vinel Cir., Horseheads, died Mar. 2, 2006 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of St. Joseph's Hospital. Grace was born in Central City, KY to the late Luther and Alma Whitehouse. She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd, in 1979. Services are being scheduled to take place in the DeBaun Funeral Home in Terre Haute, IN, with interment in Roselawn Cemetery. Local arrangements with Barber Funeral Home, Horseheads.

WHITNEY John R.
John R. The Rev. Dr. John R. Whitney, 86, of Wellsboro, PA, died Thursday, March 2, 2006 in the Green Home, Wellsboro, PA. He was born January 28, 1920, in Coudersport, PA. A graduate of Bradford High School, he acquired the following academic degrees: AB in Economics from Brown; M.Ed. from Alfred; Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary; PhD in Philosophy of Education from the Penn. State U. Vastly more significantly he was married to his beloved wife, the former Miriam Hagedorn, from 1943 until his death. Miriam bore him a son, Richard, who, like Miriam, loved him from start to finish, even as he loved them. John grew up under the intimate guidance of his parents, Alvin and Nina Raymond Whitney, and his three sisters, Rae, twin Myra, and Jean. His grandparents doted on him, the only grandson. Later in life he also enjoyed granddaughter, Erin, and great-granddaughter, Sophia. Enlisting Dec. 8, 1941, he served in WW II as a Captain in Combat Intelligence for two and a half years in New Guinea and the Philippines. Priested in 1953, he served at one time or another as Episcopal Chaplain at Penn State; Rector of St. Andrew's Parish in State College; Instructor and Professor of Religious Studies at Penn State, headed the development of a high school course, "Religious Literature of the West" for the PA Dept. of Education, covering Judaism, Christianity and Islam; Rector of Christ Church, Williamsport; Professor of Christian Education and Pastoral Theology at VTS. Bishop Stevenson of the Episcopal Diocese of Central PA named Fr. Whitney an honorary canon of the Diocese. Canon Whitney served as the first Presiding Judge of the Ecclesiastical Trial Court of the Diocese of Central PA, following sometime terms in his diocese as Examining Chaplain, Chairman of the Standing Committee, and other roles. Canon Whitney wrote numerous journal articles and reviews in addition to the text, "Religious Literature of the West." At age 81 he wrote a novel, "Children of Noah," privately printed for the entertainment and education of his friends. Canon Whitney died a defender of the catholic Christian faith including heterosexual Ordination and Holy Matrimony, for which he offered no apologies. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 9, 2006 in the All Saints Episcopal Church, Brookland, PA. The Rt. Rev. Bishop Michael W. Creighton, the Rev. Gregory P. Hinton, and the Rev. Elaine Silverstrim will preside. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery. WOOD Stephen P
Stephen P. Age 57, of Penn Yan, formerly of Watkins Glen, New York, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 18, 2006. Friends are invited to call at Haughey-Wood Funeral Home, Watkins Glen, NY, on Monday, March 20, 2006, from 3 to 6 p.m. and The Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 from 3 to 6 p.m. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Sean Garrity and Rev. Paul Bonacci, officiants. A private family burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Watkins Glen, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local Humane Society or the church of one's choice. Steve was born May 22, 1948 in Montour Falls, NY, the son of Walter L. Wood and Jane Elizabeth (Kelly) Wood. He was a graduate of Watkins High School, Class of 1966. He attended Corning Community College and graduated from Westminister Choir College, Princeton, New Jersey, with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and a major in organ. He completed graduate studies at Ithaca College. He taught at Haverling Central School in the music department from 1971 to 1977. He attended Simmons School of Mortuary Science and graduated in 1978. He built a distinguished career in funeral service with the acquistion Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, Penn Yan, NY, in 1980, followed by the Haughey-Wood Funeral Home, Watkins Glenn, NY, in 1981, and Bottoni-Wood Funeral Home, Prattsburg, NY, in 1993. As a highly talented church organist, Steve served many churches, some of which included the First Presbyterian Church in Watkins Glen and Corning, NY, the United Methodist Church, Presbyterian Church, St. Mark's Episcopal Church, and St. Michael's Catholic Church, all in Penn Yan, NY. Most recently, he served at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Dundee, NY, Grace United Methodist Church in Corning, NY, and St. John Episcopal Church, Ithaca, NY. Steve was an avid animal lover and loved every dog he encountered. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Cynthia Wood; his nieces, Darcy and Kelsey Wood; and nephew, Derek Wood, all of Watkins Glen; and his best friend, Kelly. WRIGHT Eleanor W
CRANDALL Eleanor W. Age 92 of Sayre died at home on Saturday, April 22, 2006. Born November 13, 1913 in Springhouse, PA, the daughter of the late John and Bertha Heckler Wright. Eleanor was a member of the Athens First Presbyterian Church. Eleanor loved playing golf and was Club Champion several times as well as a member of the "Hole in One club". She worked as a volunteer/Buyer at the Guthrie Clinic Gift Shop for several years. She was predeceased by her sister, Evelyn; two brothers, Russell and Nelson; and her first husband of 33 years, Warren B. Price; and her second husband of 34 years, Harry K.Crandall. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Joan Price of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Jerry and Peggy Price of Smith Mountain Lake, VA, and Randy and Elaine Price of Greenville, SC; daughter, Cameron Anthony of Mesa, AZ; son, Kip and Sheila Crandall of Sayre; combined 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. At the request of the family there will be no viewing. The family will receive guests at the Athens First Presbyterian Church on Thursday, April 27, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev.
