Dorothy M. "Dot" (Baker) Age 70, of Wellsboro, PA, died on Friday, September
30, 2005. Dot was married on August 5, 1954 to Charles W. "Tom" Anderson.

BONDHUS Ole H. Age 95, of Liberty, PA, died Wednesday, September 14,
2005, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro, PA. The Jacquelyn

BRIGIOTTA - PIZZO
Mary (Brigiotta) Age 85, of Horseheads, NY. She was born November 28, 1919
in Jamestown, NY, daughter of the late Frank and Sarah (Raffa) Brigiotta and
died Thursday, September 22, 2005, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Mary was
predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Peter J. Pizzo, on July 1, 2004; and is
survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert Frank Pizzo and Bonnie Blenis of
Rochester, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Trina and Mark Watkins of Elmira;
grandchildren, Sarah Marie Pizzo of NC, Kelli Marie Watkins of Elmira and
Jacqueline Lauren Pizzo of Rochester, NY; sisters and brother-in-law, Sally
SanFilippo, Frances and Sam Greco; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Lois
Brigiotta, Sam and Ann Brigiotta, all of Jamestown, NY; sister-in-law, Rose
Pizzo of Elmira; dear friend, Nancy McCarthy of Elmira; along with several
nieces and nephews. Mary was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. She loved to

BRIMMER - STEVENS
Vicki L. Age 40, of 205 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY. She was born January
8, 1965 in Addison, NY, daughter of Bruce and Patricia (Dewert) Brimmer, Sr. and
died Monday, August 15, 2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was predeceased by
her mother, Patricia Ann Gillette; twin infant daughters, Michelle Lee and
Rachelle Lynn Stevens; grandson, Kayden Michael King; sister, Nancy Brimmer; and
father-in-law, Samuel Stevens, Sr. She is survived by her husband, Mike Stevens;
son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Nichole King II of Sayre, PA;
granddaughter, Maciah and a grandchild on the way; father, Bruce Brimmer, Sr. of
Beaver Dams; brothers, Bruce Brimmer, Jr. of Millport and Lonny Brimmer of

BROWN James "Jim" R. Age 64, of RR2, Mansfield, PA, died
Thursday, August 18, 2005, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. He was
born January 5, 1941 in Elmira, NY. Jim retired from Mansfield University on
January 24, 2003 after 36 years of service as a maintenance repairman. He owned
and operated the Country Corral on North Main St. in Mansfield. Jim is survived
by a son, Nicholas "Nick" (Nicole McCarthy) Brown of Mansfield; two daughters,
Kim Case of Mainesburg, Melissa Lewis of Mansfield; two grandchildren, Lexa
Brown, Trevor Case; a special cousin, Sophia Aumick of Mansfield, PA; and many
close friends. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, August 22,

BRYAN Dale J. Age 68, of 173 Vanderhoff Rd., Millport, NY, died
Sunday, August 7, 2005 at his residence. He was a retired school bus driver for
the Horseheads Central School District. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m.

BUTLER Richard E. "Dick" Age 68, of Horseheads, NY, died
unexpectedly on Friday morning, September 9, 2005. Dick was born February 15,
1937 in Elmira, NY, the son of Loretta J. Price Butler and the late Alpha A.
Butler. Dick was a carpenter by trade. But he enjoyed "tinkering" around with
just about everything. His passion was his family. He is survived by his
children, Ronald E. (Tricia) Butler of Horseheads, NY, Daniel J. (Connie
Faulkner) Butler of Elmira, NY, Jeffrey S. Butler of Fort Lewis, WA, and David
M. (Theresa) Butler of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Brandon, Josh, Sherrie,

BYAM Nadine Marie Age 56, longtime resident of Elmira and formerly of
the South New Berlin area, died in her Elmira home on Sept. 27, 2005 after a
short battle with lung cancer. Born in Norwich on Oct. 17, 1948, Nadine was the
daughter of Archer K. and Ellen M. (White) Byam. Following her graduation from
the South New Berlin Central High School, she attended Cobleskill College,
graduating in 1969 with her management degree. Growing up in the Norwich and
South New Berlin areas, Nadine worked as a waitress at Hand's Inn and at the
restaurant at Chenango Lake. She had been a resident of the Elmira area for many
years, working first as a waitress at the restaurant at Mustico's, then helping
Burdette Meyers with his catering business, eventually becoming employed by
Aramark as a cafeteria worker in Arnot Ogden Hospital. Nadine is survived by her
mother, Ellen M. Byam; by her sisters, Elaine Riker of TN, Alicia Livingston and
husband Ken of Norwich, and Althea Fountain, also of Norwich; by her brothers,
N. Marks Byam and wife, Shirley of Middleburg, PA, and Lawrence Byam and wife,
Janie of Cleveland, TN. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Nadine was predeceased by her father, Archer, in 1990; by her brother, Everett
Byam; and by her companion, Burdette Meyers. Funeral services for Nadine will be
held at 2:00 p.m. on Sat. Oct. 1, 2005, from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home of
Norwich. The Rev. Dennis McKenna, Pastor of the Assembly of God, will officiate.
There will be no calling hours. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery
of White Store.
CLOOS - Stuart Cloos
CORNING | Stuart "Pop" Cloos, 71, of 117 E. Fifth St., died Thursday, Aug.
11, 2005 at Corning Hospital. He was retired from Dresser-Rand.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; his mother, Erma Cloos of Wellsboro, Pa.;
a daughter, Jodi Button of Corning; two sons, Eugene Cloos of Hopkinsville, Ky.,
Matthew Cloos of Salem, Ill.; a brother, Lyle Cloos of Blossburg, Pa., and four
sisters, Marilyn Losinger, Shirley Kriner, Linda Cloos, all of Wellsboro, Pa.,

Agnes Mae Age 77, of Elmira, NY. She was born July 29, 1928 in Rochester,
NY, daughter of the late William and Isabel (Wilson) Coles and died Sunday,
August 28, 2005, at home. She was predeceased by three brothers, and is survived
by her loving sister, Isabel Everette of Houston, TX; along with many friends in
the Elmira area including dear friend, Barbara Rogers. Family and friends are

COLWELL - SULLIVAN
BETTY COLWELL Age 85, formerly of the Elmira/Horseheads area, died August 3,
2005 in St. Cloud, FL, where she had been in the care of her daughter, Jan
Wittman, for the past two years. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years,
Edward J. Sullivan. She is survived by a sister, Jane Bierwiler of Horseheads,
NY; daughters, Patricia Milczarski (John) of Bellona, NY, Ann Sullivan of
Casselberry, FL, Jan Wittman (Michael) of St. Cloud, FL; and a son, James A.
Sullivan of Orlando, FL; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; several
nieces and nephews. Family requests donations be made to a Hospice organization

COOPER
Dr. Russell S. Age 42, of Wellsboro, PA, died Friday, August 26, 2005, at
home surrounded by his loving family. Russell was the husband of Elizabeth
(Pappas) Cooper. He was born on December 30, 1962 in Red Bank, NJ, the son of
Ransford and Janice (Rogers) Cooper. Russell was the Assistant Provost at
Mansfield University for four years. Prior to his employment at Mansfield
University, he was employed by the United States International University in San
Diego, CA, as the assistant dean for seven years. Russell was very passionate
about spending time with his children. His favorite hobby was woodworking.
Russell is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Mary Katherine and
Abigail Elizabeth, all of Wellsboro, PA; parents, Ransford and Janice Cooper of
Glen Ellyn, IL; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Donna Cooper of
Lombard, IL, Alan and Barbara Cooper of Skaneateles, NY; mother and
father-in-law, Art and Katherine Pappas of Allentown, PA; and several other

Donna M. Age 47, of Elmira, died Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at Arnot Ogden
Hospital. She worked as a certified nurses assistant for several years; most
recently she loved driving for Totem Taxi. She is survived by two daughters, Ann
M. (Scott Ovenshire) Washburn, Patricia "Tricia" (Jack Corwin) Strickland; two
sons, Tony (Ann) Randall and Michael Washburn; her parents, John and Catherine
Cornish; two brothers, Robert (Tita) Cornish, Terry (Mary) Cornish; two sisters,
Connie (Randy) Parrish, and Rita Carson; five grandchildren, Tiffanie, Libera,
Kyley, Kayla, and Isabelle; numerous nieces and nephews. A private graveside

DAUGHERTY Michael R. Of Navarre, Florida, formerly of Horseheads, New
York, died Wednesday, August 10, 2005, surrounded by his loving family. Born in
Elmira, New York, on October 5, 1954, the son of Ralph R. Daugherty and Betty O.
Daugherty. Michael was a retired Senior Master Sergeant with the United States
Air Force. Survivors include his loving wife of 28 years, Sharon K. Daugherty;
son, Timothy M. Daugherty; and daughter, Melissa K. Daugherty; brothers, Martin
S. Daugherty and his wife, Janice K. Daugherty, Joel T. Daugherty; nephew,
Mathew M. Daugherty; niece, Marisa E. Daugherty; and beloved dog, Bonnie.

DAVIS Harry M. Age 87, a longtime former resident of Horseheads,
died unexpectedly on August 28 at his home in Green Acres, Florida. Mr. Davis,
an employee of New York State Electric & Gas Corp. for more than 35 years, moved
to Florida in 1995 following the death of his first wife, Louise M. Davis. A
veteran of World War II, Mr. Davis spent four years in the Army Air Corps
stationed in India, and was active in his unit's reunions until recently. Mr.
Davis is survived by his second wife, Sadie, of Green Acres, FL; two sons, Jack
Davis of Wilton, CT, and David Davis of Plano, TX; a sister, Rachel Lewis of Van
Wert, OH; and three grandchildren, James and Kevin Davis, both of Wilton, CT and
Mrs. Amy (Davis) Fair of Plano, TX. Funeral arrangements and burial are pending

Township] she was the daughter of George and Lucy Dann Dewey. She was married to
Robert M. Green, who predeceased her in 1978. She was employed by Smith of
Galeton Glove and Protektor Model Co. in Galeton. She attended the West Pike
Baptist Church. Surviving are nieces and nephews, including niece, Ruth
Martindale of Galeton; and cousins, including Helen L. Snyder of Wellsboro, PA,

ECCLESTON Dale E. Blake Age 53, of Waverly, died on Friday, August
5th, 2005, at home surrounded by her loving family. Dale was born on October
27th, 1951 in Ithaca, NY, the daughter of the late Frank and Thelma Sharpsteen
Blake. Dale is survived by her husband, Fred Eccleston of Waverly; her children,

grandchildren and was an avid Bingo Player and loved to play the ponies. Friends

FOWLER Carmen E. Formerly of Elmira, NY, died Sunday, August 14, 2005
at the age of 49. He was predeceased by his parents, Carl W. and Ann Marie
(Bellizia) Fowler. Carmen is survived by his brother and sister, Carl (Michella)
Fowler, Geraldine (Robert) Anarumo; uncles, John (Alma) Fowler and Anthony
(Margaret) Bellizia; along with many other family members and friends. A

Theodora A. "Teddy" Age 67, of 9th Street, Watkins Glen, NY, died peacefully
on Thursday, August 25, 2005, at her home. The family will receive friends at

HAKES Andy P. "Nighthawk" Age 48 of 1401 Lake St., Elmira, NY. He was
born June 6, 1957 in Elmira, son of Floyd and Eleanor (Wiles) Hakes and died
Friday, August 26, 2005 unexpectedly. He is survived by his wife, Misty
(Thurston); children, Andy Jr. (Brandi) of Hornby, Jackie (Kenneth) Russell of
Watkins Glen and Jessica (Nick) Berry of Burdett; parents, Floyd and Eleanor
Hakes of Beaver Dams; brothers, Ted (Trish) Hakes of FL, Ken (Carolyn) Hakes of
Beaver Dams, Ray (Marge) Hakes of Breesport and Roger (Wendy) Youmans of Hornby;
four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; father-in-law and mother-in-law,

HAMMER Joseph M. Age 78, of Sabinsville, PA, died September 4, 2005.

HORNING Robert C. Age 83, of Bath NY and formerly of Elmira and
Castile, died Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at home surrounded by his loving
family. Bob was the son of the late J. Carlisle and Olive Cogswell Horning. He
was preceded in death by a son Robin Horning; brother Cecil Horning; and sister
Ruth Kohler. He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Evelyn "Lynne"
Cleveland Horning; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Ellen Horning of Bath;
daughter Andrea Watts of Logan UT; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren,
along with several nieces and nephews. Bob retired from Schweizer Aircraft
Company in 1984 after 35 years of service. After Bob put in a day's work at
Schweizer's, it was not unusual for him to work from 6 PM until 11 PM helping
other people. Those who knew Bob thought of him as the world's best "fix it"
man. Bob was also the Scoutmaster of Troop 9, Boy Scouts of America, and proud
of the 18 Eagle Scouts who grew up under his leadership. It was Bob's request

HOTTER - DUNBAR
Lenora Hotter Age 82, of 7 Macintosh Lane, Horseheads, NY, died on
Wednesday, August 17. A most treasured part of Lenora's life was her family. She
is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Harvey L. Dunbar; and her
children, Lee (Linda) Dunbar of Findlay, OH, Beth (John) Bruns of Bradenton, FL,
and Diane (Dennis) Brown of Pleasantville, NY; her grandchildren, Jennifer
(Jason) Torres, Rochester, NY, Michael (Jodi) Dunbar, Olathe, KS, Todd Bruns,
Rochester, NY, and Jay Dunbar, Brooklyn, NY; and her great grandchildren,
Meagan, Ryan, Elizabeth, and Mia Dunbar, and Trevor and Derek Torres. Lenora is
also survived by brother, Durwood (Dorothy) Hotter; sister-in-law, June
Hollenbeck; and brother-in-law, Dr. L. Wilson Kilgore; several loving nieces and
nephews, and countless dear friends. Lenora was a 55-year member of First United
Methodist Church of Horseheads, NY, where she was assistant librarian and an
active member of the Electa Circle, and a past member of the Arnot Ogden
Auxiliary and Horseheads Woman's Club. A Memorial Service will be held in
Lenora's honor at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, at the First United Methodist
Church, Broad St., Horseheads, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests

HURLER Berwin G. of Harrison Valley, PA 54, died Friday, September 9,
2005. Born February 11, 1951, in Coudersport, PA, he was the son of Merle G. and
Eilene M. Gill Hurler. He was employed by Tri-County Rural Electric for 34
years. He was a member of the Westfield Rod & Gun Club and enjoyed go-kart
racing. He was an accomplished artist and signmaker. Surviving are two sons,
Christopher (Cynthia) Hurler and Ryan (Carla) Hurler, both of Westfield, PA; a
granddaughter, Calyssa Hurler; a brother, Ronald D. Hurler of Westfield; a
niece, Kimberly (Jeremiah) Kosa of Harrison Valley; two aunts, Myrtle Steadman
of Galeton and Doris Dibble of Westfield; and several cousins. He was
predeceased by his father in 1995; and his mother on July 9, 2005. Friends may
call Tuesday, September 13th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Olney Funeral
Home, Ulysses, PA, where Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

JOSLYN William I., Jr. "Jossie" Age 61, of Horseheads NY, died Sunday,
September 4, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Bill
was the son of the late William I., Sr. and Eleanor (Thompson) Joslyn. He is
survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Judith Gee Joslyn; daughter and
son-in-law, Jennifer A. and James Coleman of Elmira; grandchildren, Lynn,
William and Shamus Michael Coleman; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce E. and Jack

Elizabeth M. Age 43, of Mansfield, PA, died September 5, 2005. She was born
December 7, 1961 in Staten Island, NY, the daughter of Gerald and Barbara
Jefferson Kelsh. Liz was the owner of the Blue Thistle Boutique in Wellsboro,
PA. She was a Cum Laude graduate of Delaware Valley College, Doylestown, PA,
earning a degree in Animal Husbandry. Surviving, in addition to her parents of
Springtown, PA, are her husband, David; and stepsons, Mark and Steven Tews, all
of Mansfield, PA; a sister, Margaret Argue of Trumbauersville, PA; a brother,
Daniel Kelsh of Prince Frederick, MD; and nieces and nephews, Sarah Kelsh, Keith
and John Argue, Marissa, McKenna, and Tyler Kelsh. Family and friends are

KISER Donald F. Age 82, of Horseheads, NY, died on Thursday, August 4,
2005, at home with his loving family by his side. Donald is survived by his wife
of 52 years, Leanne Kiser of Horseheads; son, Fred (Shannon) Kiser of
Horseheads; daughter, Susan (Allen) Proctor of Horseheads; brother, William
(Jacqueline) Kiser of Elmira; sisters, Beverly Walker of Elmira, Joyce Weideman

KUMP Patrick Michael Age 46, of Rochester, NY, formerly of Westfield,
PA, died Thursday, August 18, 2005, at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY.
He was born February 14, 1959 in Wellsboro, PA, the son of George F. and Anita
Brugger Kump. He graduated from Cowanesque Valley High School in 1977. He
attended Penn State University and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of
Mortuary Science. He worked as a licensed Funeral Director in New York State for
many years. He is survived by his parents, George and Anita Kump, Mansfield, PA;
sister and brother-in-law, Denise and Paul Holland, Elmira, NY; brothers and
sisters-in-law, Thomas Kump and Elaine Perkins, Elmira, NY, and John and Elaine

Timothy R. Age 46, of Covington, PA, died Monday, August 15, 2005, at the
Green Home, Wellsboro, PA. He was born on December 2, 1958 in Sayre, PA, the son
of the late Fred Ling and Norma (Copp) Ling. He was a machine operator at Ward
Manufacturing in Blossburg, PA. Timothy was a minister and member of the
Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research. Tim was an active participant at many
antique tractor shows including Tioga County Early Days and Bradford County Old
Timers for many years. In addition to his mother, Timothy is survived by
brothers, Joseph Ling of Gillett, PA and Benjamin Ling of San Diego, CA; seven
nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call at the Scureman

LONGSTREET L. Cleone Age 79, formerly of Elmira, NY, died peacefully
in her sleep at Skyline Nursing Home, San Jose, CA. Ms. Longstreet, known to her
friends as "Cleo" was a longtime resident of Santa Clara, CA, settling down in
CA after a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy as a nurse at the Oakland Navy
Hospital. Ms. Longstreet received her nursing training at Arnot Ogden Memorial
School of Nursing, graduating in the Class of 1948. Ms. Longstreet was a great
advocate of dance and drama, being associated with dance groups in Glen Falls,
NY, Elmira, NY and Santa Clara, CA. Ms. Longstreet was survived by step brother,
Alan Kakretz of Elmira, NY; first cousin, Malcolm Turner of Horseheads, NY; and
longtime friend and associate, Eloise Houseknecht of Elmira, NY; plus several
second and third cousins of Elmira and Horseheads, NY. Any donations should be

LOPAPA Felix Age 78, died peacefully in his sleep Saturday, August 13,
at his home on Westlake Street in Horseheads. Originally from New York City,
Felix moved to the Elmira area in 1989 after living in Wayland for a number of
years. He was a very caring person who inquired frequently about the welfare of
others and prayed for the sick. The songs he used to sing in Italian and his
sense of humor are among the things that will be remembered fondly and missed
greatly. While all of his immediate family members have passed on before him, he
is survived by scores of friends. As some of his friends have pointed out, he is
now reunited with his family and is no longer confined to a wheelchair. In lieu
of calling hours, there will a celebration of his life at the Westlake Street
IRA, 402 Westlake Street, Horseheads, on Thursday, August 18, 2005, at 4:00 p.m.

McCALLUM - MEALY Madalyn J. Age 66, of Horseheads, NY, died Thursday,
September 8, 2005, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. Madalyn was
born in Howard, NY, daughter of the late Daniel and Edith (Wilhem) McCallum.
Madalyn retired fron Thatcher Glass after many years of service. Survivors
include husband, Charles of 22 years; daughter, Danita Chappell of Horseheads;
son, George (Mary) Gould of Elmira Heights, NY; granddaughter, Nikki Ray Gould

Wanda Elaine (Mc Quay) Age 79, of Elmira, died peacefully on Saturday,

generous heart and always put others first before herself. Wanda's family would

Claire Morgan Age 13 years, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at her home at
2961 Hickock Road. She was born October 30, 1991 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of
Richard Thomas and Melissa Ellen White Murray. Claire was a lifelong resident of
the area and an 8th grade student of Corning Free Academy. She was an active
member of Christ Episcopal Church, involved with the Choir and Christmas
Pageant, member of Stage Kids of Corning, YMCA, Town of Corning Lacrosse League.
She loved cooking, knitting, art, listening to music, and adored her pets.
Claire was a special girl who touched the lives of many people. Her parents
would like to thank all those who enriched her life. Surviving are her parents,

NEISS Ross W. of Germania, PA 72, formerly of Mt. Joy, PA, died
Saturday, August 13, 2005. Born January 4, 1933, in Mt. Joy, he was the son of
Park and Florence Fach Neiss. He served with the US Army in Germany from
1953-1956. On December 3, 1955, in Karlsruhe, Germany, he married the former
Vera Kolmel, who survives. He was employed by Garber/Sico Oil Company in Mt. Joy
for 44 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of St. Matthaeus Lutheran Church
in Germania and Germania Leisure Club. Surviving besides his wife are a son,
Kerry (Sherrie) Neiss of Mt. Joy; three daughters, Marion (Barry) Hoffer and
Sylvia (Robert) Lightner, both of Elizabethtown, and Michelle (Ryan) Gray of
Hummelstown; ten grandchildren; and a sister, Jean (James) Tierney of
Elizabethtown. He was predeceased by a son, Ross W. Neiss, Jr. in 1987; two
brothers; and a sister. A Memorial Service will be held 6:00 p.m., Wednesday,

NEWCOMB Nelson "Newk" E. Age 70, of RD #2 Lawrenceville, PA,
died Wednesday, August 10, 2005, at home. Newk was the husband of Caroline A.
(Lind) Newcomb. He was born on March 27, 1935 in Galeton, PA, the son of Lula
Newcomb. Newk retired from Corning, Inc., a member of AFGWU Local 1000 and a
member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, PA. He enjoyed
hunting and fishing. Newk is survived by his wife, Caroline, with whom he would
have celebrated 52 years of marriage on September 5; a son and daughter-in-law,

OLIVER Franklin Delano Age 73, of Canton, PA, died Friday, September
2, 2005, at his home. He was born on July 15, 1932 in Crandletown, PA, the son
of Donald and Nolla E. (Barnett) Oliver. Franklin was the husband of Joan
(Stone) Oliver. They observed their 50th wedding anniversary on July 15, 2005.
He retired in January of 2005 from Parker Hannifin Corp. (formerly Schrader
Bellows) after 48 years of service. Prior to working for Parker Hannifin Corp.
he had worked for the Die and Machine Co., Eastern Wood Products in
Williamsport, PA, he was a milkman for Canton Dairy, he worked for A&P, and the
Canton Water Co. He and his family were the caretakers and gravediggers for
several cemeteries over the span of 41 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran during
the Korean War and served in Germany. Franklin is survived by his wife, Joan;
one son, Mark (Ludmilla) Oliver of New Market, MD; a daughter, Tenley Oliver of
Canton, PA; a grandson, Adrian Oliver of Middletown, PA; a granddaughter, Sasha
Oliver of New Market, MD; a brother, Jessie (Lois) Oliver of Williamsport, PA,
and his twin sister, Minnie Hunter of Ralston, PA; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Grover Oliver; three sisters, Bertha
Hill, Violet Hose, and Frances Moyer. A memorial service will be held on Sunday,

PARCHOMENKO Daniel V. Age 45, of Big Flats, died unexpectedly at home
Aug. 23, 2005. Dan was born Feb. 16, 1960 the son of the late Timofey and
Theodora (Wetchluk) Parchomenko. Dan had been employed at Bennett Tool and Die
in Horseheads. He is survived by his son, Zachary Parchomenko; and daughter,
Haley Parchomenko; brother, Timothy Parchomenko of Leola, PA; nephews, Justin
and Steven and several friends. Dan was a proud NASCAR fan and devote Dale
Earnhardt fan. He was also a Buffalo Bill fan and, as a lover of the outdoors,
he always enjoyed hunting and occasionally fishing. Family and friends are

POLLOCK - CASE
Josephine Pharr Stewart Pollock A 54 year resident of Dutchess County and
formerly of Elmira, NY, died at home on August 11, 2005 after a fifteen month
battle with lung cancer. She was 79. Born on November 7, 1925 in Charlotte, NC,
she was the daughter of Robert E. Pollock and Agnes Stewart Messick. Josephine
was educated at St. Catherine's School in Richmond, VA and Barnard College in
New York City. On September 8, 1948 in Elmira, NY, she married Paul W. Case.
Josephine was very active in the community throughout her life. In addition to
volunteering for the Red Cross and the Boy Scouts as a Den Mother, she was a
member of the Junior League of Poughkeepsie, and active in Children's Theatre.
For many years, she was an active member of Freedom Plains Presbyterian Church
where she served as an elder. She also served as a board member of the Lincoln
Center and the Dutchess County Office of the Aging, was a past president of
Coterie and a member of Dutchess County Bridge Association. Josephine was a
skilled bridge enthusiast who introduced the love of bridge to many players in
the valley. Josephine will be remembered for her keen wit, her love of people,
her excellent meals and her ability make everyone she encountered feel valued
and important. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Josephine leaves behind
her husband, Paul W. Case of LaGrangeville; children, Paul W. Case, Jr. and his
wife, Laura of Larkspur, CO and Maui, HI, William M. Case of Honokaa, HI, James
W. Case and his wife, Lucia of Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth S. Case and her husband,
Ben Williams of South Woodbury, VT, Carolyn A. Case and her husband, Kenneth
Sullivan of Paradise Valley, AZ; grandchildren, Brian Case, Phillip and
Elizabeth Case, Amelia and Anna Williams, Paul and Pierce Sullivan; and her

Phyllis R. Age 84, of Spencer, died Thursday, August 4, 2005, at Tioga
Nursing Facility in Waverly, NY. She was born in Sayre, PA, on April 5, 1921,
the daughter of the late Frank George Redsicker and Blossom Abigail Raymond. She
was also predeceased by a daughter, Diane Kube in 1986; her husband, Allan
Harold Pulkinen in 2000; and a brother, Raymond F. Redsicker in 1998. Phyllis is
survived by three sons and their spouses, Thomas (Ann) Pulkinen, Spencer, Bruce
(Darlene) Pulkinen, Cazenovia, NY, Eric (Donna) Pulkinen, Keller, TX;
son-in-law, Rodger Kube, Kansas City, MO; 11 grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Arnold (Janice) Redsicker,
Spencer; nieces and nephews. Phyllis graduated from Elmira College and Cortland
State receiving degrees. She retired from Spencer-Van Etten School after many
years as school nurse and health teacher. She was a past member of the Order of
Eastern Star. Phyllis enjoyed gardening, working in her flower beds, cooking,
reading and crafts (needle work). There will be no calling hours. A graveside

REESER - BEACH Shirley R. Age 79, of East Smithfield, PA, died at the
Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA, on Tuesday, August 23, 2005. She was born on
February 18, 1926, the daughter of the late Paul and Maxine Reeser. Shirley was
a member of the United Methodist Church of East Smithfield. She was employed at
the Troy Hospital as a Medical Records Technician and also worked at the
Bradford County Manor as a consultant. Shirley is survived by two sons, Paul and
Diane Beach of Horseheads, NY, and Lynden and Ruth Beach of Kingston, PA; three
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In
addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, John E.
Beach, who died on November 1, 1997; son, Raymond E. Beach, who died on
August 12, 1991; brother, Warren Reeser; and sister, Janice Cutler. Family and

ROBINSON Robert W. (Bob) Age 85, of Elmira, died Sunday, August 14,
2005, at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado after a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Flynn Robinson. Bob is
survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Randy Chapman; and grandsons,
Connor Randolph and Sean Robert of Golden, Colorado; his brother and
sister-in-law, Joel and Hazel Robinson of Elmira; nieces and nephews, Wendy
(Duke) Carroll and Joel (Linda) Robinson, Jr. of Elmira, Lynn Marshall of Texas,
and Jean (Robert) Andrews of Maryland, and their families; and by sister-in-law,
Eleanor Flynn of Elmira. Bob was a graduate of EFA and served in the Army during
World War II. He was the treasurer of Robinson Lumber Company for most of his
career, where he worked with his brother Joel, niece Wendy and nephew Joel, Jr.
He was a member of the Elmira Lions Club, the Ivy Lodge and the American Legion.
Bob was inducted into the Elmira sports Hall of Fame for basketball in 1980, and
was also an accomplished tennis player and bowler. He and Mary loved to travel,
but always looked forward to returning to their home in Elmira. Following Mary's
death in 2002, Bob moved to Colorado to be near his daughter and her family. An
avid sports fan, Bob especially enjoyed attending his grandsons sporting events.
A kind and gentle man, Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Donations

SANFORD George N. Age 74, of Elmira, NY, died Monday, September 19th,
2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Elmira. George is the son of the late Frederick
and Carrie Hoover Sanford. He was born in Newark Valley, NY, on April 2, 1931.
He is survived by his sister, Faith Sanford of Elmira, NY; and numerous cousins.

SAVEY Fred P., Jr. Died on August 5, 2005 in Sun City, AZ. He is
survived by wife, Marie; and son, Jack of AZ; sister, Adelaide Lutes of NC;
niece and nephew, Dennis and Eleanor Lutes. Fred served in the US Navy during
WWII, and was service manager at Elm Chevrolet in Elmira for many years.
SAWYER Ronnie A. (SRGP 27489) Age 43, of Lindley, NY, died as a
result of a motor vehicle acccident early Saturday morning, August 13, 2005.
Ronnie was born on March 20, 1962, the son of Arthur and Alice Monro Sawyer. For
15 years he worked for the Town of Lindley Highway Department and was an avid
NASCAR and dirt track stock car enthusiast. Ronnie's father predeceased him in
death. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 22 years, Constance
Bradley Sawyer; his children, Lindsay A. and Joshua B. Sawyer (Suzanna Foster);
mother, Alice J. Sawyer all of Lindley NY; brothers, Arthur Jr. (Lois) Sawyer of

Michael W. Age 58, of Ridgewood, NJ, died September 13, 2005. He was born in
Elmira, NY, and was Vice-President of Mergers and Acquisitions with Siemens
Corp., NY, NY. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church,
Ridgewood, NJ, where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus; a US Army
veteran of Vietnam, where he was Company Commander, and attained the rank of
Captain. He received a BS at Cornell Univeristy in 1973, and MBA from Harvard in
1975. He was a longtime member of the Red Sox Nation. His family includes his
wife, Colleen (nee: Vaeth) Schiefen; daughter, Monica S. Van Fleet, and husband,
Geoff S. Van Fleet; son, William P. Schiefen; sister, Mary Claire Kelly; mother,

SCHWEIGART George E. of Westfield, PA 74, died Wednesday, September
28, 2005, in the Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA. Born January 17, 1931,
in West Bingham, PA, he was the son of Albert J. and Ida Clark Schweigart. He
was a Korean War Veteran, serving with the US Marine Corps from 1949-1953. He
served with the US Air Force from 1956-1958. He was employed by Corning Glass
Works for 33 years, retiring in 1985. He was a salesman for Classic Memorials in
Ulysses for many years and was a member of the Knoxville VFW. On February 8,
1983, in Las Vegas, NV, he married the former Margaret Tubbs, who survives.

Anna Myra (Smith) Age 69, died Friday, September 2, 2005, at home in
Sylvania, PA. Anna was the wife of Paul "Jack" A. Rogers. She was born on April
4, 1936 in Houlton, Maine, a daughter of Herbert L. and Grace (Fortier) Smith.
Anna had been employed by the Paper Magic Group in Troy, PA. She was a member of
the Sylvania Church of Christ, American Legion Auxiliary of Troy; Troy Women's
Bowling Assoc.; Tuesday Night "C" Bowling League; and the Once a Month Supper
Club. She was an avid NASCAR fan, a Dale Ernhardt, Jr. and Sr. fan, New England
Patriot's and Boston Red Sox fan. Among her favorite past times was spending
time with her family and friends, search word puzzles, and bird watching. She is

Mary Annetta Trimble (Mat) Died at age 94 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center
on Sunday evening, September 4, 2005. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
in 1910, the youngest child of Euphemia McNaugher and Thomas Patton Trimble. She
graduated from Elmira College in 1932 and married the late Richard Stone Heller
of Elmira, January 1933. She was a longtime member of the Park Church, Member
Emeritus of the Junior League of Elmira, former member of the Elmira College
Club, Wednesday Morning Club, Arnot Art Museum, Elmira Art Club and the Elmira
Country Club. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Annetta Trimble Heller

NY. He was born January 10, 1945 in Elmira, son of the late Robert and Sybil
(Costello) Weston and died Sunday, September 11, 2005, at home after an extended
illness. He was predeceased by his father, Robert in 1988; mother Sybil in 2005;
and brother, David in 2004. Mike is survived by his wife, Debra (Dewey) with
whom he would have celebrated their 28th anniversary on Sept. 15th; son and

WHITAKER P. Douglass ''Doug'' (SRGP 80070) Penn
Yan/Dundee Age 95, of Chapel St., died Thursday, September 8, 2005, at Soldiers
& Sailors Memorial Hospital, in Penn Yan. Doug was born Sept. 10, 1909 in
Osceola, PA, the son of the late Edgar Leon and Maude Knowlton Whitaker. He
graduated from Overlook High School in Philadelphia in 1928, and went on to
graduate from the Missionary Training Institute in Nyack, NY in 1932. On June
30, 1934 in Knoxville, PA, he married the former Bernice Wainwright; she died
Dec. 17, 1989. Doug has lived locally since 1974, previously of Lindley, NY.
Having many occupations during his life from Tanneries to Groceries, he was
employed as a custodian for Corning School District for 18 years, retiring in
1974. Upon moving to Dundee, he took a position with Giles Shur-fine until 1997.
He attended the Emmanuel Baptist Church, and was a former member of both Dundee
and Penn Yan Senior Bowling Leagues. He is loved and will be missed by a son,
Nathan G. (Jane) Whitaker of Brooksville, FL; a daughter, Janice M. (Dan) Smith
of Barrington with whom he most recently made his home; a sister, Luella M.
Williamson of Greene, NY; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Paul K. Whitaker of
Lexington, KY, in July of 2004. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.,
Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee, where a
funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Gerald Vanaman officiating.
Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee, after which the family invites
attendees to a luncheon reception at the Barrington Community Church. The family

WILCOX - NEWTON-BARNETT
Esther L. Age 83, of Brookside Circle, Elmira, NY, died Tuesday, August 30,
2005, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira. Mrs. Barnett was born March 30,
1922 at Nunda, NY, the daughter of the late Wilbur Lorenzo and Margery Horton
(Baker) Wilcox. She married Charles F. Newton February 13, 1944. He predeceased
her in 1991. November 17, 1993, Esther married E. Harvey Barnett. He predeceased
her in 2002. She received her BA from Grove City College in Grove City, PA, and
did graduate studies at Elmira College, Columbia University and the University
of Lyons in Lyons, France. Esther was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma - Alpha Rho
Chapter. Following 30 years of teaching French and Spanish, she retired from the
Thomas Edison High School in Elmira. Esther's survivors include two daughters,
Mary Beth (Ike) Campbell of Blossburg, PA, and Natalie Catherine (Paul) Mattison
of Corning; one son, Stephen Charles (Gwen) Newton of Fallsburg, NY; nine
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five nieces and nephews. A Memorial
Service will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the First
Presbyterian Church of Big Flats, with Rev. Richard Price officiating. Burial
will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Nunda, NY. Memorials may be made to the First

YORKEY James Edward Age 76, of Pine City, NY died on August 20, 2005
after courageously battling a long illness. James was born on June 20, 1929, a
son of the late John J. and Edna Mae (Youngblood) Yorkey. He is survived by his
loving wife Alice Carr-Yorkey; his children, with spouses, Beverly and Rich
Woodruff, Jeanne Burhle, Linda and John Geraghty, and James, Jr. and Mary Jo
Yorkey; grandchildren Richie, Jennifer, James, Patrick, Justin, Stephanie,
Michael, Megan, Maureen, Marie, Dennis and Jimmy; step-children, with spouses,
Ken and Roxanne Bailey, Kathy and Bill Carleton, Curt and Molly Bailey;
step-grandchildren Whitney, Rachel, John, Ethan and Jimmy; brothers and
sisters-in-law, John and Betty Yorkey, Earle Yorkey and Elinor Austin, and Joe
and Kathy Yorkey; numerous great grandchildren; along with several nieces and
nephews. James is also predeceased by his first wife Florence. A big strapping
man, Jim had an even bigger heart. He always went the extra mile to help a
friend or family member. Jim was affectionately known as "Poppa Jim" or "Pop" to
his grandchildren, and nothing made him happier than to laugh and joke with his
family and friends. He was retired from Conrail with over 40 years of service.

Gladys Yost Born November 7th, 1915, died on September 7th, 2005. She was
predeceased by her husband, Paul Snapp in 1986; and granddaughter, Angela Yost
in 1983. She is survived by her son, Herbert Yost and wife, Elizabeth;
grandsons, Allen Yost and Lewis Yost; six great-grandchildren, Brian, Cory,
Dustin, Brandon, Alicia and Phillip; several nieces and nephews. Family and

Dry Cleaners and Shirt Laundry with husband, Robert N. Palmer, who predeceased
her in 1980 with ALS. Survivors are her children, Tex Palmer and Shirley
(Thomas) Wylie of Cocoa, FL, Marjorie (Bernard) Roche of South Carolina; seven
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild;
