1868 8 JAN D Impson, Emily B. d in Shippen, Dec 6, 1867, Emily B. Impson, aged 11 years 5 months 9 days.
1868 2 DEC D Jackson, James Esq. d, James Jackson Esq., for upward of 30 years a citizen of Delmar but for the last four years a resident of Lincoln, Delaware, died at the latter place Nov. 24, 1868 in the 57th year of his age. He was brought to Wellsboro for interment and the funeral was held at St. Paul's Church sunday conducted by Rev. O.L. Gibson, assisted by Presiding Elder Cochran. Mr. Jackson was born in Great Valley, about 20 miles from Philadelphia and came to Tioga Co with his parents when very young. He was an active member of the Methodist Church for more than a quarter of a century.

1868 28 OCT D McCormick, Matilda d in Blossburg, Oct 1st, of consumption, Mrs. Matilda J., wife of Mr. E.C. McCormick and daughter of Dea. Putnam, formerly of Mansfield, in the 29th year of her age and in the 10th year of her married life. Her funeral took place at the Blossburg Church in Blossburg on Sabbath morning. The sermon was preached by Rev. N.L. Reynolds from 1st John 2:25. Burial in Mansfield. She leaves a husband and little daughter.

1868 26 AUG D Meagher, Michael Fatal accident. Michael Meagher was at work in the Arnot mines on 10th of August and a piece of coal became detached from the roof, striking him on the head, causing almost instantaneous death. He leaves a widow and 7 small children.

1868 8 JUL D Murry, Mrs. Hetty Mrs. Hetty Murry died in Wellsboro, July 4th, aged about 95 years. Known as "Aunt Hetty". Her husband, Eben Murry died some years ago. They accompanied the family of William Wells to this region in July 1804. Aunt Hetty was a pure-bred African. Her mother was the daughter of one of the Head-Man of the Guinea Coast and was brought to this country about the middle of the last century. Both she and her husband were born in slavery and received the gift of their time from Mr. Wells.

1868 18 NOV D Nichols, L.I. d, in Wellsboro, Nov 14, Hon. L.I. Nichols, in the 59th year of his age. Judge Nichols was born in Chenango co., NY in December 1809. He became a resident of Wellsboro in 1831. The funeral was attended from his house on the 16th of November. (no relatives Mentioned)
1868 3 JUN D Niles, Willie Died, Col. A.E. and Mrs. Niles reached this village Friday, bringing the body of Willie, their youngest son. Willie left us a bright lad of 15. He fell ill at school and after 3 weeks of suffering died. Cadet Nathan Niles, brother of the deceased, is now undergoing final examinations at the Naval Academy.

1868 4 NOV D Searls, Isaac d, Mr. Isaac Searls at Daggett's Mills last week. Mr. Searls had hitched his mare to a rail fence ans was trying to take the colt away, when the mare jerked the rail from the fence and swinging it around with great force, struck Mr. Searls in the forehead and inflicted a mortal hurt. He survived the blow but a few hours.
