1866 31 OCT D Starkweather, Nelson A Correspondent from Mansfield sends us the particulars on a sad accident which occurred near Mansfield on Saturday 20th instant."Mr. Nelson Starkweather was engaged in skidding logs at the Wilson Mills, and while driving the grabs into a log the team suddenly started, drawing the log over his body, and rending the ribs from the spinal column. He survived but four hours."

1866 10 OCT D Tyler, Canfield We are pained to record an accident by which Mr. Canfield Tyler, one of the most enterprising and valued citizens of Delmar, lost his life last Wednesday evening. Mr. Tyler had been in attendance upon the Fair, and was returning home, accompanied by Mr. William Francis, when, in turning the corner above Mr. Samuel Dickinson's, he was flung from the buggy and fell between the forward wheel and the shafts. The horses took fright and in this terrible position he was dragged 45 rods, breaking his leg and mangling him so shockingly that he died on saturday morning. Mr. Tyler came to this county last spring from Smithville, Chenango county, NY and was working Mr. Francis's farm at the time of the accident. He was a farmer, a good citizen, a kind husband and father.

1866 13 JUN D Vandusen, Betsey d in Farmington, April 25, of dropsy on the chest, Betsey, wife of Walter Vandusen, aged 70 years. She was one of the first settlers and endured the toils and privations incident to early settlers of the place. She leaves a husband and large family of children. She was born November 18, 1796 and baptised into the fellowship of the Baptist church in 1826.

Her remaining children and grandchildren survive her.
