1866 15 AUG Alexander, Benj Accidental Shooting. Holidaytown was the scene of a sad accident last Wednesday. A young man named William Peters was exhibiting a small breechloading pistol in Benj. Alexander's Blacksmith shop, when the pistol accidently discharged, mortally wounding Mr. Alexander. The bullet entered the abdomen near the hip. Dr. Bacon was called but failed to find the ball. Peritonitis supervened, and Mr. Alexander died Friday. (News article also in the Aug 22nd issue).

She was baptised in the waters of the Tioga in the winter of 1821 by Rev. Elisha Tucker, and for 45 years had been connected with the Baptist Church of that place.

1866 15 AUG D Carr, H.E. DIED. A Brave Soldier Gone. We have received the sad particulars of the death of Mr. H.E. Carr, a discharged soldier, while on his way home from Texas, where his regiment disbanded. Mr. Carr was a brother-in-law of Mr. D.G. Edwards, of Charleston township and a native of Bradford county. He enlisted in the 2d Wisconsin cavalry, in 1861, and served faithfully until last November when he was discharged. While on his way home with a small drove of horses and mules, in which he and three of his comrades had invested their ready money, he was flung from his horse while fording Red River, and drowned before assistance could reach him...
1866 15 AUG O Chamberlin, S.K. During the night of August 5th, an infant boy was left in a basket on the step of Mr. & Mrs. Chamberlin of Chatham. The Chamberlin's having no children of their own, are much obliged for the gift. The little fellow has fallen into good hands. (Aug 29th 1866 issue of The Tiog County Agitator. Correction to the above information: The baby was left with the S.K. Chamberlins of Middlebury and it was a girl.)

1866 14 NOV D Cobb, William Troy Items. The "Gazette" says a young man named William Cobb formerly of that place, was lately killed on the railroad in Wisconsin. The body reached Troy by express last week,. The deceased was a Massachusetts man and served with distinction in the late war.
