John S., eldest son of J.& S. beach, of Elk township, Tioga Co aged 27 years. He
enlisted in Co. I. 45th Regt P.V. Oct. 15, 1861, was taken prisoner near
Richmond & Petersburg Sept 30, 1864. He was robbed of nearly all that he had
necessary for his comfort, hence together with the want of proper after care he
died Jan 12, 1865. He leaves aged parents. |

died, Albert Christenat, son of Rudolph Christenat of this
village. He enlisted in Co. E. 1st Rifles and served through all the campaigns
of the first three years of war. In Mar 1864, he re-enlisted for three years and
was taken prisoner on 19 Aug last and sent to Libby. Being removed to Salisbury,
NC he received such barbarous treatment there as resulted in his death on 8th
Feb 1865. He is the second of the same family who has perished that his country
might live. |

City, April 22, 1865, Daniel Watts, in the 43d year of his age. He was a private
in Co. C. 141st N.Y. Vols, and was with Gen. Sherman in his march from atlanta
to Savannah and thence to Branchville, Fayetteville, Goldsboro and Newbern. From
the latter place he was, with other sick and wounded, transferred to Fort
Schuyler, where he died. His remains were exhumed, brought home to Tioga, and
re-interred in Tioga Evergreen Cemetery. |

April 2, 1865, Corporal Edward W. Webster, oldest son of Mr. G.A. Webster of
Charleston in this county, was killed. He enlisted in Co. G. 207th P.V. last
