1863 28 OCT D Hastings, George Drowned on board the West Point, which was sunk by coming in collision with the George Peabody on 13 Aug 1862, George Hastings, a member of Co. H, 45th Regt. P.V. formerly of Chatham, Tioga Co., Pa. He was the son of N.E. and S. Hastings.

1863 14 OCT D Lyon, Martha d in Niles Valley, 6th instant, of consumption, Mrs. Martha Lyon, wife of Joseph E. Lyon aged 53 years 10 months and 7 days. She was married May 26, 1834. She joined the Baptist Church in the town of Middlebury, Pa. A few weeks previous to her marriage.
1863 28 OCT D Mack, Samuel d in Wellsboro, 23d instant of consumption, Samuel Andrus Mack, aged 58 years. He was born April 5, 1805. He was married Sept 3, 1828 to Lura Ann Kenard, who died at Wellsboro Sept. 8, 1862. He was the father of nine children, six survive. He was a blacksmith in Wellsboro, during nearly thirty years. His funeral took place on the Sabbath Oct. 25th, at the Wellsboro M.E. Church, Pastor J.D. Bell conducted the services.

1863 30 SEP D Monroe, Miss Accident and loss of life. As the families of George Skelton and Daniel Monroe were proceeding down the mountain to Pine Creek to attend a funeral service on Sunday, a portion of the wagon gave way and the horses, becoming unmanageable, plunged down the mountain at a fearful rate. The wagon overturned and nearly every person of the six in the company was injured. The little daughter of Mr. Monroe was so badly injured, that she died on Monday. Mrs. Monroe was seriously injured, also one of Mr. Skelton's girls.
1863 4 NOV D Moore, Sarah d on Hill's Creek, 20th ultimo, of heart disease, Sarah, wife of Elias Moore, aged 63 years 9 months and 21 days. She joined the M.E. Church about 20 years ago.
