Capt. Miller, as he was called, was one of the oldest citizens of the Town of Candor, and was an officer, we believe, in the War of 1812. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. Her state of mind in contemplation of death was in beautiful and harmonious accordance with her whole life. Gentle and unobtrusive, it is in the domestic circle her qualities shone pre-eminent. There she was ever ready to promote the welfare and happiness of those around her, entering with her enlarged sympathies, into all their joys and sorrows. In the family for which the past thirty years she has been domisticated, she was warmly beloved and appreciated, and has left a gap not easily filled. As her honorable and successful life drew to a close, she prepared herself with calmness and self-possession for the final conflict, leaving her with many friends the sweet assurance she had passed to a glorious immortality. This sudden bereavement has fallen with crushing weigh on the hearts of her family, and cast a feeling of gloom over a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
