By the dispinsation and interposition of Divine Providence a godly and religious work has been conducted in Franklin, by Eld. J.G. Noble, commencing about ______of Oct. A.D. 1859. The labours of Bro. Noble were crowned with signal sucess; the glorious work went on steadily for eight weeks. When about seventy souls were hopefully converted to the true and living faith as it is in Christ Jesus.

November 26, A.D. 1859 A Church was organized under the name of First Christian Church of Franklin. The following persons were admitted to membership and received the right hand of fellowship. Bro. D.J. Beardsley and C.M. Taylor elected Deacons. (the names given here are all in the list at the end of article)

On December 31, 1859 the church elected three trustees: Chas. White; Sterne McKee and Jas. B. Johnson & on January 14, 1860 Elijah Blake and Wm. B. Shiner were elected in addition to above.

On April l, 1860 Bro. Noble took the parting hand of of the Society April 1, 1860 Bro. Stuart entered upon the duties of Pastor. Letter of recommendation voted to Eld. A.J. Stuart for the Tioga River Conference to be held at East Smithfield, Penna. The church voted to unite with that Conference August 11,1860. In October the vote was recinded and it moved to unite with the Pennsylvania Conference. (In 1872 they voted to unite with the Tioga River Conference again.) August 10, 1862 Elder A.J. Stuart preached farewell discourse before taking his leave to the Army.

March 16, 1867 the Pastor was Elder Z.M. Ellis Brother C.H. Taylor was ordained minister of the Gospel at a meeting in the grove.

April 18, 1868 Elder C. Newel present and the church hired him for the coming year to preach once in 2 weeks for the sum of $100. October 9,1869 - Met in fellowship at the schoolhouse for the last time before the Dedication of our new house.

October 21, 1869 - Met to Dedicate the first Christian Church edifice of Franklin. Elders Rodenbaugh, Ellis and Newel present. April 28, 1876 Hired Elder C.D. Kinney for the year at about $200.

September 24, 1876 Elder Kinnney and Newell having made their report in the case of Sisters Secore and Weldee. Brother Taylor offered the following resolution that as Sisters Secore and Weldee have united with the Mormans that their names be stricken from the roll of the church. February 19, 1881 "That the name of Sterne McKee be dropped from the records of this church by his request he having made ship wreck of the faith and is now an avowed infidel"
