Hendy Hollow Cemetery 
Southport, Chemung County, New York

Located in upper Hendy Hollow, Town of Southport,
Chemung County, New York on the north side of Hendy Hollow Road and just
west of Cleveland Hill Road on a slight overgrown knoll. This cemetery
is in a very deteriorated state of condition. There are several plain markers
bearing no inscriptions. A stone wall, that has collapsed in most places,
is evident and enclosed the cemetery. Markers copied 1979 by J. Kelsey
Jones.
BAKER Alida A. daughter of Joshuay & Caroline Baker died July 22,
1845, aged 3 years, 11 months and 9 days
GIBBONS Ruhamah daughter of John & Rosina Gibbons died Sept 21,
1844 aged 9 years and 11 months
JOHNSON Mary wife of William Johnson died June 18, 1844 Ag’d 27 y’rs
4 m & 18 d’s
Mary Jane dau of W. & L. Johnson died Apr 19, 1847 Ag’d 8 mo
Lurana died Oct 7, 1849
(all three on same marker)
PETZOLD In memory of Carl F. Petzold BORN FEB 22, 1852 DIED MARCH 11,
1879 (this is metal cross)
The following are taken from the Elmira City Death Records and it is
unknown to me (J. Kelsey Jones) if these people were buried in this cemetery
or another cemetery unknown to me at Hendy Creek or Hendy Hollow or they
were private interments.
COARD Samuel Coard b. Ireland d. July 3, 1873 70 years buried Handy
Hollow
WAGNER Henry Wagner, Jr., born Elmira son of Henry and Charlotte Wagner
died Aug 3, 1881 1y 6m 15d at 806 East Church Street buried Hendy Creek.
