I am researching my ancestors in Northeastern Pennsylvania and am so very very EXCITED about the amount of information your efforts have availed us all! In looking thru the records on Tioga Pt Cemetary, I was pleased to find my Great Grandparents, Edward & Rebecca Van Riper, Rebecca is nee Rebecca Hall, & my Grandparents, John E. Van Riper, & Lucina Barbour Van Riper. I am the ONLY granddaughter surviving to adulthood & you can imagine how important this long history of the Van Riper's/Hall's/Barbours are to me! One small thing, my grandmother, Lucina's name is misspelled on the list, it's spelled with an 'e', when it should be spelled with an 'i'. This family with obviously Dutch roots came to the new world on a ship called the 'Spotted Cow'(don't ask me how to say in Dutch..smile)in 1649. The settlers were Jurianse vanderRuyper & his wife Metje. They along with some other Dutch settlers bought a land grant from the Natvie Americans in the northwestern part of what is now Bergen County New Jersey sometime in 1653. They had 12 children, all surviving until adulthood, and we are descendents of one of the seven sons...again just a bit more to add to the records of the Van Ripers(anglicized spelling) some of the original settlers in Bradford, Tioga, & Chemung counties...very proud to be part of these families, and very proud to call that beautiful part of your state my ancestral home.
