Joyce's Search Tip - December 2007 -
Do You Know that you can search just the Bradford County Cemetery Records on the site by using the Cemeteries -Bradford button in the Partitioned search engine at the bottom of the Current What's New Page? If you use that partition follow these steps to search just one cemetery
1. Choose Cemeteries - Bradford.
2. Enter part of the cemetery name [ie Ballard or Berrytown] AND a surname.
3. Choose the Find ALL Words option. Then it will find just the pages with that surname in the one cemetery you indicated.

Note From Olive W. Richardson Dec 20, 1997 : Dear Joyce: First, a thousand thanks for all the resources you have provided and the colorful and enticing lures to make one more search for a lost ancestor!

Rev. Hoagland said that the land for Green Mountain Cemetery was given by David Burt in 1841. I have access to a map of Bradford Co made by Lake, Ames & Davison 1858 showing residents' names, mill, tavern, school locations, etc. One "D. Burt" lived just east of Centreville (now Ridgebury?) Today, there is a Burt Lane running, sometimes, parallel to a Green Mountain Road. The cemetery must be in this area..a deed may exist and or the US Geologic Survey maps may identify the exact location.

My aunt said the site was covered with brush when she found it in the early sixties. Rev. Hoagland gives 1819 as the date of death for Amy Cornell..as the cemetery was not started until 1841..in any case, I believe the ff:

Amy (Merritt) Cornell b. 5 May 1791 Chappaqua, NY, d/o Gilbert Merritt, m. Thomas Cornell [b. 24 Jan 1792 Northcastle, NY, s/o Haviland Cornell] and Amy's date-of-death should read Sept 20, 1849

A. J. Gerard is Abigail Jane Cornell [b. 13 Jun 1809, d/o Haviland Cornell] ref- Genealogy of the Cornell Family by John Cornell pg 299

Luther Richardson was born 19 September 1785 Somers, CT

Will try to verify Amy Merritt Cornell's information via the 1850 Mortality Schedule on my next trip to the Library. All for now, with my best wishes to you and your family for a lovely Christmastime.
