Re: Barclay Mines Cemetery data.
There is an inaccuracy in interpretation in the Barclay Cemetery descriptions published on your site as follows:
The conclusion that Jane, wife of George Munro (my ggparents) remarried Thomas Woolley is in error.
George Sinclair Munro, his wife Jane McElvie and family returned to Nova Scotia and are listed in the 1871 Census for Pictou County (as well as in the 1870 census for Barclay Mines). While they were in PA, daughter Margaret died and two sons; John James and Gutherie were born. Other brothers, Sutherland Munro and John Munro were also in Barclay Mines area at that time (see 1870 census). I have the family bible owned by George Sinclair Munro with his name, the date 1870 and Barclay Mines inscribed inside.
With George Munro and family in Barclay Mines circa 1870 were two of his sisters Jane Wooley, and Ann Kellock and their families.
The Jane whose name you see with the Woolley data is in fact Jane MUNRO Woolley, sister of George Munro. Ann MUNRO Kellock is another sister of George Sinclair Munro.
Some of those folks returned to Nova Scotia and others stayed in USA.
I would be pleased if a correction could be made to this information in order to help other genealogists accurately trace their trees.
I am occassionally able to help others who are working on families for whom I have some knowledge, particularly coal miners from Albion Mines, Pictou County, Nova Scotia as were the above folks.
I live four houses from the final home of George S. Munro and Jane McElvie in a house that was built by one of their children, Hugh Sutherland Munro, my grandfather.
I am very appreciative of the information provided by your site; it helped me get a more complete and accurate picture of the lives and deaths of my ancestors when they were in PA. Thank you.
Please feel welcome to make my name and edress (antiquer@ns.sympatico.ca) available to any who are working on the above families.
Last week a couple from PA was in Nova Scotia and other members of the local genealogy society and I were able to help them identify and locate the land and descendants of Thomas Munroe, immigrant from Cromarty, Scotland to Albion Mines and Laggan (Upper Barneys River), Nova Scotia. At least one son, William went to PA and stayed in the US; his ggson now owns the family farm.
Regards, Jerry Munro (Gerald Hugh Munro)
New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada (adjacent to Stellarton, formerly Albion Mines, Pictou County)
P.S. Many of the coal miners or their families found in the PA censii of 1850 - 1890 with birthplace given as Scotland or Nova Scotia came from Albion Mines which started circa 1827.
