Other comments: Small cemetery, mostly unattended but in a beautiful sylvan setting with one 10' metal obelisk inscribed with four names. Four metal on stone headstones with names; one other inscribed stone. An old iron fence surrounds it.

WOODRUFF –MRS. MARY A. TURRELL. Peacefully fell asleep during the early morning of September 20, at the house of Mrs. Amelia Porter, with whom she had been spending the summer, death apparently coming without a struggle. Mrs. Turrell had not been complaining of any serious ailment, although for some months past she had been subject to heart trouble, which was the cause of her sudden taking away. Mrs. Turrell, when about twenty years of age, while attending the State Normal school at Hartford, Conn., became a member of the Congregational church of that city upon the close of a revival. Some years later she was received by letter into the Presbyterian church at Terrytown of which her father, Allen Woodruff, was one of the organizers. Removing to Rushville, she was admitted by letter to the Presbyterian church of that place. Later, after a few years residence in Wyalusing, she gave her letter, in 1878, to the 2nd Presbyterian church of which she remained a member until the day of her death. She was a conscientious Christian lady and her home was ever a welcome asylum to the ministers of God. Mary Ann Woodruff was born in Farming, Conn., on January 27, 1831. In 1855 she was married to Hiram Gilbert. Eight years after his death she became the wife of E. W. Durga, his death occurred in 1867. She married in 1868 Joel Turrell becoming his widow in 1873. She is survived by one son, Oliver A. Gilbert, vice-president of the Montrose National bank, and one daughter, Miss Lucretia Turrell. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon at 12:30 o’clock, Rev. T. Thomas a pastor of nearly half a century and Rev. T. S. Armentrout officiating, the interment was in the Gilbert cemetery at Asylum.
