Hello to Joyce |
Photo extracted from a larger one of South Main St. that I got from
Chester P. Bailey. Chester related the stories below to me. This is a section
of the east side of South Main street where the bank's parking lot is now. |
1. John Bailey built the little lunch wagon on a farm wagon in 1916.
He and wife Ingebar brought it into town in the middle of the night, unloaded
it and served breakfast at 7 AM. (Told to Chester P. Bailey by Ingebar)
It says "Quick Lunch" on the end. |
2. This was a milliner shop. Was later George Porter's Candy Store.
The building was moved to W. Wellsboro Street as the New X-Trail Restaurant
and remained so until 2001. The second floor was removed, probably at the
time it was moved, so that it is only a one story building.
It is now Frankie Flatlander's Cafe. The original XTrail is the one on
S. Main that later became Ernie's Mansfield Restaurant and Jimmie Cracker's.
Its name in 2004 is University Club. The lower picture shows the Cafe on
W. Wellsboro St. that is the remains of building 2 in above photo. |
