I. FIELD REHEARSAL

SUNDAY, September 22, 1929..........................1:00 p. m. sharp

ALL PARTICIPANTS

On the Pageant field at Mark Twain Park

If stormy the Field Rehearsal will be held Wednesday afternoon, September 25, at 1 o'clock. During the Rehearsal you will have the opportunity of seeing all the Pageant from the Hillside.
 

II. PERFORMANCE

SATURDAY, September 28..............................2:00 p. m. sharp

If stormy the Performance will be held on Sunday afternoon, September 29, at 2 o'clock. In timing your arrival at the Pageant Field, do not forget to take into consideration the delays that may be caused by heavy traffic and parking.
 

III. PERFORMANCE TIME SCHEDULE

IV. ENTRANCES

In order that the 2000 Participants may assemble in an orderly way it is important that they enter the Pageant Field as indicated by placards at the different entrances. (Watch for signs.)

1. Civilian Participants must use General Entrance to Mark Twain Park and special bridge.

2. American Legion and other Military Organizations - Executive Officer, Capt. James Riffe - must use road leading to Incinerator Plant.

3. High School Students - Executive Officer, Arthur H. Hirst - must use road immediately north of General Entrance to Mark Twain Park.

4. Chorus and Band - Executive Officer, Lloyd L. Welsh - must use General Entrance of Mark Twain Park.

Be sure to bring your Enlistment Card with you. If you are not in your costume or uniform it is only by this means that you will be entitled to Pageant Field.

If you come by automobile be sure to secure from the Enlistment Department an Official Paster for the windshield which will admit you to special parking space for the participants only.
 

V. ASSEMBLY CAMPUS

These will be designated by signs on the Assembly Campus.

Participants will assemble as soon as officially notified by an Episode Captain or Lieutenant at their respective Camps and be ready to move into position at the proper Stage Entrance.

BE SURE TO STUDY THE LARGE ENTRANCE CHART UPON THE ASSEMBLY CAMPUS WHICH WILL CLEARLY STATE THE ORDER OF ENTRANCES TO THE PAGEANT FIELD.
 

VI. ASSEMBLY CAMPUS (Behind Scenes)

Beach Cooke.................................................................. Stage Director

The Stage Director and his staff will be designated by yellow arm bands. At the Assembly Camps participants are under the immediate direction of their respective Captains and Lieutenants who in every case are members of the respective Pageant Groups.

YOU ARE TO AWAIT ORDERS FROM THEM!

Obey and you will help others and yourself. Remain with your own group at your own camp until instructed by your Captain or your Lieutenant to go toward your Stage Entrance. At the proper time you will be told when to appear before the audience.

No one will be permitted to be at any of the Entrances, watching the Pageant, as this would mean congestion and make it impossible for Entrances and Exits to be made quickly and in order. ABSOLUTE QUIET MUST PREVAIL.
 

VII. COSTUMES

Theodore H. Ware............................................................Director

All participants must provide their own footwear, except the Indians. All others should wear low, dark shoes. Shoe buckles, where required, will be furnished. As your Costume is rented from the Official Costumer, you are required to take good care of it. Do not tear, soil or injure it in any way. You are personally responsible for it.

RETURN OF COSTUMES

All Costumes and uniforms must be returned. Announcement in regard to the return of Costumes will be made at the Field Rehearsal, Sunday, Sept. 22.

VIII. PROPERTIES

Maurice Ham....................................................................Director

The Properties Station is located upon the Assembly Campus and designated by sign. All those who use hand props must secure them at this place. Be careful not to break them before or after going on the stage.

You must return your prop to the Properties Station from which you secured it after both the Rehearsal and the Performance.

The return of properties after rehearsal and performance is absolutely necessary on the part of each participant.
 

IX. MAKE-UP AND WIGS

Robert Crossen.................................................................Director

All Indian men, women, children, some Continental Soldiers and some Colonial men and Women will wear Wigs. All such will be notified. All Indians will have make-up provided. All others requiring make up will be so informed.

Announcement as to Wigs and Make-ups will be made at the Field Rehearsal, Sunday, Sept. 22.
 

X. HORSES AND VEHICLES

Arthur L. Hoffman............................................................Director

There are two Horse and Vehicle Depots - one is located near the American Army Base at the south end of the Field; the other near the British Army and Indian Base at the north end.

Those who have been selected to ride horses will secure them at that Depot nearest to their Stage Entrance.

If you have been designated to ride in a Vehicle it will be found near your Stage Entrance.

Be sure to return your horse to the Depot as instructed by the Director of this Department. Obey implicitly instructions from the official as horses must be used by other riders in scenes that follow.
 

XI. CHAPERONAGE

Members of this staff will be designated by pink badges. They will be found at different points on the ASSEMBLY CAMPUS. Please do not hesitate to call on them if for any purpose their services are needed.

XIII. STAFF CONFERENCE

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT A CHECK-UP ON THE DRESS REHEARSAL, BE HELD AT 7:30 P. M., AFTER THE FIELD REHEARSAL AT ASSOCIATION OF COMMERCE, FEDERATION BUILDING, TO DISCUSS ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE PAGEANT, SO THAT IT MAY BE A SUCCESS AND CREDIT TO ALL CONCERNED. ALL DIRECTORS OF ALL DEPARTMENTS, COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN, CAPTAINS, LIEUTENANTS AND OTHERS SO INFORMED MUST ATTEND THIS VITAL CONFERENCE. THEIR PRESENCE IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL.

IMPORTANT

Leave your valuables at home, but bring with you some change so you can buy refreshments that will be sold on the Assembly Campus.

It is imperative that while behind the scenes you are not visible to the audience. Keep out of sight!

Glasses and spectacles must not be used on stage except by special permission of the Stage Director.

Wrist watches and jewelry must not be worn.

Gum chewing is positively prohibited while on the stage.

If the audience applauds or laughs, hold up your lines until it is quiet again.

Do not use any modern slang in group of mob scenes.

If you, as a participant in the Pageant at Decision, follow the instructions, you will perform a real service in helping to make your Pageant a success.
