Weeks - Barber Family Bible

Copies of birth, marriage and death records from two family Bibles of the Weeks Family were made by John R. Weeks in May 1979 and sent from his home in Mansfield, Ohio to David N. Smith.  David sent copies to me with a handwritten abstract.  A copy of  “The Weeks Family Record” an unpublished manuscript by Elizabeth S. Williams and Clement D. Northrop written June 20, 1900 was included.  Ruth E. Weeks had retyped the “Record” in 1978.
In the appendix to the “Record” are the following:
“Micajah Weeks ‘a Refugee from Long Island’ and Phebe Barber of Ridgebury were married January 30, 1781 by Rev. Samuel Camp, a pastor of the Congregational Church at Ridgebury.”
“The Bible was not Micajah’s, and was not brought into the family until about the time of his death or later.  John Weeks, the owner, might have been mistaken as to the year of his parent’s marriage.”
These items, as noted in the appendix, create a question as to the exact date of Micajah’s marriage, or if he was married twice.
I went through all of the Bible pages and recorded them.  Unfortunately the Bible does not include any locations.  I identified all locations in the “Record” and added them as notes to the Bible pages.  There are a couple of data issues.  The Bible shows the date of death for Mary Baxter as June 15, 1884.  The Record reports it as “Monday, June 15, 1885”.  June 15 was a Monday in 1885 and this matches the Pleasant Valley Cemetery record.  Esther Weeks date of birth in the Bible is Jan. 26, 1838.  The “Record” reports it as Jan. 26, 1839 and in the appendix a reference is made to the date in her obituary as Jan. 27, 1837.
In addition to the “Record” I identified some cemetery records, these can be used as additional notes.

Note from Joyce M. Tice - In some of the Farmington Census records the name Weeks is recorded as Wix. This gives us a clue to the way the people pronounced it and the census taker interpreted the spelling to match their pronunciation.
