Additional note from Florence Emick Sechrist--
Lydia JaneWHEELER Pierson was married to Oliver Pierson. (Parents of
Lydia J. Pierson Emick)
He was 21 years older than she and had been married before and had
children older than Lydia Jane. They had around five children. She wrote
poetry. He owned 1000 acres around Nauvoo, Tioga County, PA. They sold
their land and moved to Michigan. Lydia Jane is buried in Michigen. The
family have tried to locate the burial place but to no avail. Oliver returned
to Nauvoo to live with Jacob and Lydia Jane Pierson Emick. Oliver Pierson
is buried in Salem Cemetery, Liberty, PA.

mother of Lydia J. Pierson "Emick" was a well known poet, suffragist and
advocate of women's rights. She sent the following letter to Woman's Rights
Convention, held at Akron, Ohio, May 28 and 29, 1851 {More

Liberty, May 15, 1851.
This letter, that is part of our Tri-Counties local history, has been
removed at the request of family members. I hope to be able to restore
this and other information about our local poet and women's rights activist,
at a later date.

The above information was submitted by Gary Parker, Montrose PA, who
has possession of the Bible. Notes of clarification: John Gloeckler
was my maternal great grand father, Edward Gleckler was my maternal grandfather,
Louise GLECKLER Parker is my mother. Samuel Gloeckler settled the farm
in Liberty Twp in 1819, he came from Wurtemburg Germany, John was his son,
and Samuel died December 1, 1861.
