I've gleaned a great deal of information from our site over the past several years, thanks you very much. I recently noticed an "omission" - or case of unknown identity - in the G.A.R. picture that occurs at the beginning of the Organizations (Civil War) section. The individual standing between William Fletcher and Civillius Berry is Civillius' brother, Julius Mortimer Berry, who was a private in Company F of the 23rd. New York Regiment. He also seems to be missing from the New York section of the list as well. I'm basing this on other pictures I have of Julius and his remarkable mustache! Not that it's a bit deal, just thought you might like to know. I've included a picture of Julius in his later years for purposes of comparison. Regards

GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC
A GAR post was organized shortly before 1884 at Gillett. It was listed in the 1907 Bradford County Directory as Lieut. Eams Post No. 582 at Gillett. Daniel Chase was Commander. It was made up of members who served in the Civil War.
The Post passed into history with the death of Fred Moore, age 83, on February 7, 1930. He was one of the two surviving members. With his death the Post Charter was surrendered and Daniel Chase, who was in his 90th year, alone remained of a post that once boasted 61 members at the time of its organization. The lone survivor, Daniel Chase, passed away on July 18, 1934 and the age of 94.
A Memorial Day Association was formed to conduct services and decorate graves of the veterans. John W. Chase, son of Daniel, was elected president; Bertha Kingsley, vice president; Nettie Updike, secretary and Lena Woodhouse, treasurer.
