3 Edith Ann Richmond #5570
Edith was born 29 JUN 1878 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Other resources have indicated that Edith was born in Mainesburg, which is in Sullivan township. I have changed it to Sullivan township, barring documentation, as so many researchers who live outside the area do not distinguish Mainesburg from the rest of Sullivan township and identify all events as having occurred by the mailing address. The former boro of Mainesburg is a very small part of the township.
She married Hobart M. Smith 1 JUL 1894. Apparently divorced as they both married later.
She married Leon Elmo Card 3 SEP 1900. Edith died 1965 at age 87. Her body was interred 1965 in Card Cemetery, Sylvania, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Edith lived with her parents in 1900. She was 21 and had 2 living children, assumedly the two living with her. Her name and the children's was Richmond. In Sullivan Scrapbook a child is born to Hobart Smith and Edith Richmond. Is this the same?

H.B. is son of Henry and Sally per Joan Nash (Odell). I am assuming relatinshiop to R.G and H.J. since they were vorn within acceptable time in Rhode Island and live by J.B. and Batemand Monre which implies a relationship. Requires Confirmation. Monro genealogy does NOT confirm this. Keep looking. UNLESS they are actually George M. and Thomas M who were born same year these two were.

Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Albert was listed as the head of

at age 74. Her body was interred OCT 1904 in Ames Hill Cemetery, Sullivan

her death date on the tombstone that says "Sally, wife of Albert died"

From the 1883 History: "William E. Robbins, born in 1818 in Cummington, Massachusetts, came to Tioga County with his parents the same year. His wife was Sophronia Woodward of Sullivan. Mr. Robbins is a gun smith, and his guns have an excellent and widespread reputation. His father was Ahaz Robbins and his mother was Betsey Gloyd; their family consisted of eleven children, four of whom are now living."
From the Robbins Family records most recently printed by A. Carlton WILSON: "According to Mr. Ward Austin of Mansfield, Pa., the following story has been handed down through his family. Mr. Austin is a grandson of Levi Robbins, brother of William E. Robbins, my grandfather. It seems that my grandfather, William E. Robbins, came from Cummington, Mass. with his parents, Ahaz and Betsey Gloyd Robbins, when he was less than a year old in 1818. They traveled to Mansfield, Pa. by way of the Mohawk Valley to Geneva and then southward. Their means of travel was an ox and a freshened cow hitched to a stoneboat on which they transported all of their possessions. The cow provided milk for the baby. The family settled near Mainesburg, Pa. on wlat is known as 'Robbins Hill' just off what is now the main road between Sylvania and Mansfield."
Note from JMT: the 1818 date is believed to be incorrect as records of Betsey and William exist in Massachusetts as late as 1827.
Also from the Robbins Family records: "William E was a noted gunsmith, His shop was located on Robbins Hill where he made 'muzzle loaders,' single, double, triple barrel, both shotgun and rifle. Some were 'over and under.' A special feature of the guns was the location of the hammers on the sides of the barrels, and a hair trigger. I have heard my father say that grandfather could shoot a soaring hawk out of the air with one of his rifles. They were very accurate, and many of his guns are still in existence. I have two - an over and under combination rifle and shotgun and a target rifle."
Conlin visited here (Sullivan Township Museum) in April 2005. He says that the blacksmith tools of Billy Robbins are in a museum in Wysox.
Hicks of Atlanta GA gives middle name as Ebenezer. She did not indicate sources and I have not seen a middle name in other resources.
15 Sophronia Woodward #6749
Flags: Photograph.
Sophronia was born 1824 in Pennsylvania. She married William Ebenezer Robbins 10 OCT 1838. Sophronia died 7 OCT 1896 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 72. Her body was interred OCT 1896 in Ames Hill Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Both parents born in Vermont. In the 1840 census Sophronia was listed in the 20-30 age category which does not fit with a birthdate of 1824. Also that birthdate puts her at age 14 when she married. Even for that era that was young for marriage, but not impossible.
