Adalene Maude Seymour lived from 1889 to 1965. On October 9, 2008 we publish a few generations of her famly history in Ahnentafel Format to commemorate the 119th anniversary of her birth.. [Ahnentafel lists a person as number one - father as double that number and mother as double plus one.

Maude was born 09 OCT 1889 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Maude registered to vote 1958 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Maude died 19 JUL 1965 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 75. MISS MAUDE A. SEYMOUR Miss Maude A. Seymour, age 75, of Mainesburg, RD, died Monday, July 19, 1965. Funeral was held at Shaw & Robena Funeral home, Mansfield on Wednesday at 2 pm. The Rev. Gordon C. Cleveland officiated. Burial was in King Hill Cemetery, Sullivan Township. Survived by brother, Relford Seymour of Mainesburg RD; sisters, Mrs. Edward Bolt of Mainesburg RD, Mrs. LeRoy Raynor of Wellsburg RD and Mrs. Lloyd Wilkins of Mansfield RD; several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Bakerburg Community Church.

Her body was interred JUL 1965 in King Hill Cemetery, Sullivan Town, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Maude was a teacher, registered nurse, hospital adminstrator and beautician.

Clayton was born 20 MAY 1868 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He married Lucy Minetta Welch 24 DEC 1888 in Covington, Covington Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Clayton died 15 MAR 1951 in Elmira, Chemung County, New York, at age 82. CLAYTON SEYMOUR Clayton Seymour, Mainesburg, died at the Arnot-Ogden Hospital, Elmira, March 15, 1951, aged 82 years. The funeral was held at the Shaw & Robena Funeral Home, March 19. Sermon by the Rev. Glenn Dewey. Mr. Seymour is survived by one brother, Clyde Seymour, of Troy; 5 children, son, Relford, and daughter, Maude, at home; Mrs. Hazel Bolt, of Mainesburg; Mrs. Helen Raynor, of Bentley Creek, and Mrs. Ruby Wilkins, Mainesburg; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, also nieces and nephews.

Tioga County Agitator - Dec. 4, 1856 issue: Married at Cleaver House, in Wellsboro, 27th ult. by Rev. J. F. Calkins, Geo. W. Seymour of Sullivan and Miss Ellen Seymour, of Mansfield.

George was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. 5 Ellen Maria Seymour #5063

Ellen was born 1 JUL 1833 in Columbus, Warren County, Pennsylvania. She married George William Seymour 17 NOV 1856 in Wellsboro, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Tioga County Agitator - Dec. 4, 1856 issue: Married at Cleaver House, in Wellsboro, 27th ult. by Rev. J. F. Calkins, Geo. W. Seymour of Sullivan and Miss Ellen Seymour, of Mansfield.

Ellen died 29 MAR 1906 in Mainesburg, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 72. Her body was interred MAR 1906 in Mainesburg Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. She was one of the very fortunate women of her time who did not have to give up her name when she married. She married a man with the same surname as her own.

6 Nelson Welch #4739

Nelson was born 16 JUL 1842 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He married Helen R. Welch 24 DEC 1867 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Tioga County Agitator - Jan 8th 1868 issue: Maried in Sullivan Dec. 24th 1867, by N.A. Taylor, Esq., Mr. Nelson Welch and Miss Helen Welch, all of Sullivan.

Nelson was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Nelson was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Esther Dart also in household, age 28. housework.

He married Ellen A. Unknown (Welch) AFT 1902. He resided 51 - s. of State Road, in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 1908. Farmer, Mansfield PO

Nelson died 1933 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 90. His body was interred 1933 in King Hill Cemetery, Sullivan Town, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Tombstone Photo tkh04739.jpg Oct 2001 Nelson Welch, son of Harry and Betsey Welch, was born July 16th 1842, on the farm in Sullivan which he now owns. His grandfather Nathaniel Welch, settled in Tioga County about the year 1791. Mr. Welch married in 1867 Helen R., daughter of Uriah D. and Lucy Welch of Sullivan. Their children are Minnie, Alanson E., Ransom U., and Earl. In 1875 Mr. Welch bought up all the heirship interests in the homestead farm, and he is now a successful agriculturist. Tioga County Agitator - Jan 8th 1868 issue: Maried in Sullivan Dec. 24th 1867, by N.A. Taylor, Esq., Mr. Nelson Welch and Miss Helen Welch, all of Sullivan.

Helen died 1902 at age 51. Both Jeanette BAILEY Rose and Minnie WELCH Seymour's work interprets the Helen WELCH who married Nelson WELCH as daughter of Elijah WELCH and his second wife Charlotte BLISS who had previously been married to Charles SPENCER.

note that the material I got from Howard Williams has Minnie's mother as the Helen who was daughter of Uriah WELCH and Lucy Minetta ELLIS - The duplication of the name makes sense. I need conclusive evidence to determine the correct lineage.

8 Joseph Seymour #23003

Joseph was born 1783 in Connecticut. He married Zylpha Borden about 1811. Joseph died 1865 in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 82. Joseph and Zylpha lived near Bath, NY until about 1820 when they moved to Tioga County, PA.

9 Zylpha Borden #23002

Zylpha was born 1788 in Connecticut. She married Joseph Seymour about 1811. Zylpha died 21 Jun 1879 in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 90. Zylpha's parents lived at Pulteney in Steuben County NY.

10 Julius Seymour #23000

Julius was born 16 Apr 1805 in Canandaigua, Ontario County, New York. He married Sarah Pauline Dutton* 1833. Julius died 16 Jul 1853 in Ohio, at age 48. Mark Shaw's chart indicates Julius born in Chenango County NY on 16 SEP 1804 rather than Ontario County. Also gives death date as 17 JUL 1852, Hambden, Ohio. Gives different parentage than the other resource I used. Have same grandparents, but different, dates, place, parents. Which is right?

11 Sarah Pauline Dutton* #23001

Sarah was born 1805 in Chenango County, New York. She married Julius Seymour 1833. Sarah died 04 Apr 1843 in Hambden, Ohio, at age 37.

12 Harry Welch #3450

Harry was born 16 AUG 1798 in Vermont. He married Abigail Harding 1824. Harry was listed as the head of a family on the 1830 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Harry and Abigail were 30-40 and 20-30 respectively. Their household included a daughter and a son under age five, Cytheria and William. They lived in the King Hill / State Road area of Sullivan next to her parents.

Harry registered to pay taxes 1835 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. 18 acres improved land, 18 acres wild land, 2 oxen, 2 (or 5) cows, valuation $135.00

Harry registered to pay taxes 1837 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Twelve improved, 86 wild acres, two oxen, two cows, one horse.

He married Betsey Rude BY 1838. Harry registered to pay taxes 1839 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Twelve improved, 82 wild acres of land, two oxen, two horses, one cow.

Harry was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Harry and Betsey had one female 0-5, one female 5-10, one male and one female 10-15 in their household. Sister-in-law Laura BRYANT Welch was next door.

Harry registered to pay taxes 1842 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. 85 wild acres, twenty improved acres. one pair oxen, four cows.

Harry registered to pay taxes 1845 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. 90 wild acres, 18 improved acres, two horses, one pair oxen, three cows. Wild land is taxed at $1.50 per acre but notation says "wild land should be rated as mountain land at $1.00 per acre. "

In the Census of 1850, Harry was listed as a head of household in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Harry was a farmer with property worth $2500.

In the Census of 1860, Harry was listed as a head of household in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Harry was a tanner with real property worth $3000 and personal property worth $1000. George was a farm laborer.

Harry was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Living in same building as son Nelson's family.

Harry died 15 MAR 1873 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 74. Death date confirmed in Nelson Welch Diary

Betsey died at age unknown. Betsey was born 06 JUN 1809 in Connecticut. She married Harry Welch BY 1838.

Elijah was born 1790 in Vermont. He married Polly Spencer BEF 1814. Elijah registered to pay taxes 1817 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Elijah registered to pay taxes 1818 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Elijah registered to pay taxes 1819 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Elijah was listed as the head of a family on the 1830 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Elijah and Polly were 30-40 with two sons 15-20, a daughter and son 10-15, two daughters and a son 5-10 and two daughters and a son under five in the household.

Elijah was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Elijah's household included one female 5-10, three females 10-15, two females and one male 15-20, two males 20-30. Elijah was between 40 and 50. The household also included a woman 70-80 who was probably his mother Lura. Both Elijah and Lura were widowed at the time of this census.

He married Charlotte Bliss AFT 1840. Elijah registered to pay taxes 1841 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Sixty improved, 200 wild acres of land, three horses, four cows.

In the Census of 1850, Elijah was listed as a head of household in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Elijah was a farmer with property worth $4000 which is one of the highest valuations listed on the 1850 census. Lura, called Lucy in the census, was blind. A Margaret Welch age 18 is listed. I have assumed this is the same as Maryette from the Minnie WELCH Seymour work. The three Spencer children are Charlotte's from her earlier marriage to Charles Spencer.

In the Census of 1860, Elijah was listed as a head of household in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Elijah was a farmer with real property worth $4000 and personal property worth $800. Almeda. Amanda and Mary Ellen were servants. Whose baby is eight month old Eugene? Is Mary Ellen listed in census Maryette?

Elijah died 30 NOV 1862 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 72. His body was interred DEC 1862 in King Hill Cemetery, Sullivan Town, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.

15 Charlotte Bliss #3448

Charlotte was born 07 APR 1808 in Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts. She married Charles Spencer ABT 1822. She married Elijah Welch AFT 1840. She married Heber Cole* AFT 1862. Charlotte died AFT 1883 at age unknown.
