There has been no record found of Benjamin Burgess Sr. ever having a son named David, it is assumed that the recorder misspelled the name and it should have been Daniel. In 1854, there is D.C. Burgess who is assumed to be Daniel C. Burgess, as Benjamin Burgess, Sr. did have a son named Daniel.

It is time I started sending some documents. Your site has helped me so much. I am researching the Burgess/Doane family and have been for 4 years. I am attaching tax assessment documents pertaining to Windham Twp.
Also, they are proof that the listing in the Valley Home Cemetery is a mistake. On page one of the Valley Home Cemetery it has: "Burgess Benjamin date of death, Mar. 13, 1839 Sally date of death Oct. 13, 1840 Age 46 wife of Benjamin Sally was born Oct. 17, 1794 and was a Doane" O.K. Joyce on page 7 there is this: "Sibley William b.1810 date of death Dec. 18, 1861 ae 51yrs Emily Burgess b.Aug. 11, 1818 died July 24, 1847 Williams wife Benjamin B. b.1838 d. Mar. 13, 1839 ae 9mo Son of Wm & Emily Sibley" This makes Benjamin B. the grandson of Benjamin and Sally. The question that has bothered me for 4 years is, what are the odds of grandson and grandfather dying on the same day and year?
Hope you can use the documents on your site. Because of your site, I have found living relatives I never knew existed, have photos of Great Grandparents. I am going to start giving back some of the help I have gotten from your site.

Notes for DANIEL BURGESS: Obituary: Daniel C. Burgess died Saturday morning of heart disease at the home of his son, Frank J. Burgess, in Temple Street, aged 79 years. His funeral was held Monday afternoon at the house, Rev. George D. Young officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. He was born October 19, 1828, at Windham, PA. His father was Benjamin Burgess, one of the first settlers. He was a sawyer and ran a mill there. He came to Owego in 1872 to run the late Jacob Hand’s saw mill. Later in life he was a cabinet maker and finisher. He leaves a wife and two sons, George Burgess of Athens, PA, and Frank J. Burgess of Owego, and one daughter, Mrs. John Dugan, of New York city.
