1913 Hollenback School
Wyalusing Rocket August 10, 2006 Here’s a look back at the Hollenback school in 1913. Our special thanks to Eleanor Burke Willson of Sayre, one of the students in this photo, for her assistance in identifying the others. Now 101 years old, Mrs. Willson remembered all of the students’ names except for two. Those pictured include (front row, left to right) Esther Wandel, Ruth Burke, Eleanor Burke, Gen Burke, Evelyn Griffis and Marjorie Briggs. Second row: Albert Stoddard, Lida Mace, Edna Wandel, Marjorie Gamble, Lydia Furman, ? and ?. Back row: Howard Vose, David Barnhart, Luella VanDeMark, Mary Ross, Teacher Hattie Shults, Genevieve Bahar, Gladys Bahar and Olive Stoddard. Historians note: I suspect the name is Bahr instead of Bahar for the women in the back row. |
