Oliver Block
This is a three story brick block with good cellars under entire structure,
known as the Oliver block situated on Main Street, consisting of three
stores which are all old established lines and proven money makers, one
occupied as a drug store, one a hardware and one a dry goods store. Second
floor occupied by offices, hardware and dry goods and the third floor lodge
rooms. This block includes a two story brick store house in rear running
more than the entire length of this block. Also included on this property
is an adjoining building in rear occupied by the American Express Company.
Leases on all properties expiring Aptil 1, 1926 with the exception of the
American Express Company's lease which expires September 31, 1927. (Note

Photographed at left in 1925 and above in postcard.
This locates it at right of Bank. It was between the bank and Troy
House until at least the late 1960s at which time it housed the grocery
store on its first floor. It may have been demolished about the same time
as Troy House in 1976 or so. The postcard below shows it to the left of
Troy House. |
