Reading a series of obituaries from a single cemetery, as they are presented here, is like reading the multi-generational history of a community. These people were the local populace at a particular time. The people buried here knew each other, were neighbors, relatives and school mates. They attended church together and engaged in "trade" or business. All people are listed in alphabetic order by surname at BIRTH. Women identified by a married alias only and for whom a birth surname can not be identified, are listed on the last page for the cemetery's obituaries. Please send in typed obituaries for people buried in our local cemeteries. If possible include name of newspaper and date. Send typed in your email or in attached Word files. Send to Joyce M. He braved a six month battle with pancreatic cancer just as he did everything
else in his life - with grace, strength, and a sense of humor. Albert was born

patents as an electronics engineer from 1952 until his retirement in 1981. He
and Mildred lived in Elmira Heights until 1963, following which they enjoyed
many happy years at their home in rural Veteran township; property he often
referred to as being like heaven. Albert and Mildred raised 4 sons, and enjoyed
many wonderful years with their extended family. Albert is pre-deceased by his

RICHARD ‘DICK’
PARIS was born to the late Mary Paris (née Palchak) and Stephen Paris in
Braddock, Pa., and grew up in the Riverside section of Buffalo, N.Y., with
his three brothers, Bob, Bill, and Tom. As a child, Dick was a daredevil, a
jokester, and always competitive, defining traits he carried into adulthood.
One of Dick's fondest childhood memories that he told throughout his life
was of him and his brothers swimming across the Niagara River from Buffalo
to Grand Island. As a native of Buffalo, N.Y., Dick was a Bills fan to his
dying day. Before enlisting in the Army in January of 1945, Dick left school
and worked as an aircraft assembler at one of the aircraft factories in
Buffalo to help support his family. He was discharged in August of 1946 and
worked many jobs throughout his life, including as a manager at Buffalo Pipe
Foundry; the assistant superintendent at Ingersoll Rand Foundry in Athens,
Pa.; the superintendent of Ingersoll Rand Foundry in Painted Post, N.Y.; a
construction supervisor; and a supervisor for the Florida Department of
Transportation. On May 17, 1952, Dick married the late Dorothy Louise "Lou"
Smith, whom he adored. They had two daughters, Terri and Michelle, and
raised them in Waverly, N.Y. The family belonged to the local Shepard Hills
Country Club, where Dick could be found most weekends on the golf course or
the dance floor led by Lou, the better dancer. Their love of dancing was
passed on to their daughter, Terri. Dick also loved to fish and play
handball, and was active in the Waverly community as a member of the Loyal
Order of Moose and the International Toastmasters. Later in life, Dick was a
local at Yanuzzi's, devouring their spaghetti and salad with pressed garlic
and playing cards with friends. Dick and Lou's daughters gave them five
grandchildren, Mark Epperson, Holly Paris, Justin Epperson, Olivia
Paris-Kornilowicz, and Andrzej Paris-Kornilowicz, and three
great-grandchildren, Ethan, Olive, and A.J. His grandchildren fondly
remember his competitive spirit - they spent hours playing cards and board
games with him. Dick was also a wonderful storyteller with a witty sense of
humor and a loving and caring personality - the best traits to have in a
grandfather. He also encouraged problem-solving and passed on his love of
puzzles to his grandkids - he could always be found with a crossword puzzle
or watching Jeopardy. Besides his daughters, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren, Dick is also survived by several nieces and nephews who
have fond memories of spending time with him on Lake Erie. His family will
miss his shining brown eyes, witty personality, and caring soul. Family and
friends are welcome to celebrate Dick's life on Monday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. at
the Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad St., Waverly, N.Y., where full military
honors will be accorded by the Valley Color Guard. Burial will be in
Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira, N.Y., at the convenience of the
family. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate
contributions to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (alzfdn.org) in
Dick's name. –Sayre Morning Times 10/11/2018
