These people were the local populace at a particular time. The people buried here knew each other, were neighbors, relatives and school mates. They attended church together and engaged in "trade" or business. All people are listed in alphabetic order by surname at BIRTH. Women identified by a married alias only and for whom a birth surname can not be identified, are listed on the last page for the cemetery's obituaries. –ALENE B. CHAFFEE, age 82, of Horseheads, NY passed away on Friday evening,
January 31, 2014 at Bethany Manor. Alene was born March 4, 1931 in
Springfield TWP PA, the daughter of the late William G. and Mary E.
(Jenkins) Beardslee. She retired in 1993 after 35 years of service to NYSEG
and was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Horseheads
NY. Alene was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Robert B. Chaffee, who
passed January 8, 2006 and brother, William. Alene is survived by her
children Colin B. (Julia) Chaffee of Burke VA, Kevin P. (Marcia) Chaffee of
Palmdale CA, and Melanie B. Chaffee of Elmira NY; and grandchildren Sarah,
Marissa, and Robert; brother, Roy (Barb) Beardslee and sister, Dorothy (Dot)
Stedelin. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a gravesite committal
service at Woodlawn National Cemetery on July 17, 2015 at 3PM. In lieu of

ROBERT H. BEEMAN,
93, of Sayre, PA, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at his home
in Sayre, PA. Robert was born on May 23, 1921 in Laceyville, PA the son of
the late Forrest and Etta Ottis Beeman. Robert graduated from Rush High
School. He was employed at G.E. as the Manager of the Mechanical Services
Department. Robert was the Scout Master of Troop 22 in Little Meadows, PA.
Robert was an avid fisherman and hunter. Robert was a member of the Free and
Accepted Masons. Robert is predeceased by his brother, Ronald Beeman; his
brother, Wayne Beeman; brother-in-law, George Dietrich; first wife, Mareen
Robbins; second wife, Betty Beeman; and third wife, Millie Beeman. Robert is
survived by his son, Larry Beeman of Sayre, PA; daughter, Shirley Sopka of
Sayre, PA; son, Robert L. and Vickie Beeman of Virginia, Richard and Caren
Beeman of Salt Lake City, UT; daughter, Dr. Nancy Beeman of Highland Falls,
NY; daughter, Lillie Barnes of Athens, PA; sister, Bernita Dietrich of

BELCHER - George L. Belcher Jr., 74, went to be with his loving Lord on July 23, 2008 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be missed by all who knew him. He was born on April 22, 1934 in Sayre a son of the late George and Mavis (Hausknecht) Belcher. George was a proud Marine who served his country from 1955-1958 and then spent a number of years in the reserves. He had a passion for trains, volunteering for the Tioga Central Railroad as a break-man and switch operator. He also enjoyed watching football, especially the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed county music, traveling and spending time with his family and collecting bald eagles. He is survived by wife Marcia Eccleston, Waverly; children: Allan (Elizabeth) Belcher of Sayre; Patricia Hemenway of Roanoke, Va.; Brothers Paul (Anne) Belcher, Athens; Dale Belcher, Williamsport, Pa.; Donald Belcher, Sayre; grandchildren Cassandra Belcher, Aaron Hemenway and Jessica (Rob) Ketchum; great grandchildren Jeremiah Ketchum and Patrick Hemenway. Many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Carol Belcher and Nephew Jeffrey Belcher. All services will be private with internment at Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira. BELIG Margaret B. Smith
Age 83, of Bethany Courtyard, Horseheads, NY formerly of Columbia Cross Roads, PA. died Wednesday, October 24, 2012. She was born in Montoursville, PA on June 27, 1929, the daughter of the late Harry B. and Emily (Bird) Belig. Margaret is survived by her daughters, Emily (Michael) Reed of Horseheads, NY, Deborah (Thomas) Dyal of LaGrangeville, NY; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Michelle, Jason, Thomas, Ellen; six great grandchildren, Bailey, Julia, Hannah, Declan, Ayla, Liam; brother, William Belig of Mt. Joy, PA and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Paul L. Smith and sister, Elizabeth Murphy. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. BELIN - CASEY, Ruth M.
Age 89, of Elmira Heights, NY. She was born March 28, 1919 in Elmira, daughter
of the late David H. and Myrtle (Weaver) Belin, and died Wednesday, October 29,
2008, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was predeceased by husband, James Casey,
Sr.; sons, David Casey and James Casey, Jr.; daughter, Lenore Casey; and
sisters, Veronica Dannelley and Katherine Barner. She is survived by her
daughter, Kathleen (Lee) Jackson of Elmira Heights; granddaughter, Kasey
Jackson of Elmira Heights; grandson, Thomas (Jessica) Casey of Horseheads;
granddaughter, Patty (Tim) Robinson of Ceres, CA; great-grandchildren, Ryan and
Jillian Casey, Jonathan and Elizabeth Robinson; nephew, Charles Prechtl, Jr. of
Elmira; cousin, Robert (Jean) Landon of TN; special friends, Helen Roote,
Floretta Conklin, and Joellen Sweeney. Ruth was employed with Artistic Card,
Remington Rand, Moore Business Forms and Kennedy Valve. She was a member of the
Full Gospel Church of Catlin Center. Family and friends are invited to visit

BELL Helen B. Rice
1923 - 2011
Beloved mother of Edward and Margaret (Briggs) Rice, died silently on September 18, 2011, the same month, eight years after the passing of her husband of 62 years, Major Walter Rice. Helen was born in Elmira, traveled extensively with her husband and son, and lived in Pine Valley since 1961. She will be greatly missed and mourned by her son and family: grandchildren, David Rice of Pine Valley, Danny (Bengee) Rice of Rome, NY, and Cheryl (Robert) Rice Tingey of Pine Valley; seven great-grandchildren, Jennifer Hurd, Robert, Ray, Nathan Rice, Tony, Alex, and Brooke Rice. She was also dearly loved by one living brother-in-law, John Homberg, Pheonix, AZ and several nieces, nephews and friends. Helen was a loved resident at Seneca View Nursing Facility for over a year. A special thanks to the wonderful staff/friends who took such good care of her and made her last days comfortable and peaceful. Helen played piano beautifully and loved all animals. She was a member of the Victory Life Center Church in Horseheads and had been an active member of the American Legion Post #154 Auxiliary. Helen was an indispensable asset to her husband's military career in the service for our country. She was an accomplished entertainer and proficient in communication interrogation. –ELIZABETH M. "BETTY" (BELLINGER) DILDINE age 66 of Erin, NY passed away on
Monday December 29, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family after
battling cancer for 2 years. Elizabeth was born October 17, 1948 in Elmira,
NY the daughter of Norman and Clara M. Harris Bellinger. She married her
husband , Louis R. Dildine, on January 8, 1977 and they would have
celebrated their 38th Wedding Anniversary on January 8, 2015. Betty was
retired from Top's Market in Big Flats, NY. Betty was a devoted wife, mom,
and grandmother. She loved spending time with family and attending her
grandchildrens’ activities. She was an avid reader. Betty is survived by her

BELLINGER Norman E.
Formerly of Elmira, NY - Was born May 13, 1947 in Elmira, the son of the late
Kenneth and Eleanor (McCalley) Bellinger, died peacefully at the home of his
daughter, who gave him the utmost love and care, on Monday, August 16, 2010, at
the age of 63. His loving wife of 30 years, Kathleen (Henderson) Bellinger
predeceased him on October 5, 1997. He is survived by his beloved children: son
and daughter-in-law, Richard and Diane Bellinger of Millport, NY; daughter, Amy
Ludwig of Oklahoma City, OK; adored grandchildren, Corey and Tiffany Ludwig;
brothers, Kenneth (Ann) Bellinger of Pine City, NY, James (Cheryl) Bellinger of
Elmira, NY; along with several other relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.
Norman was a Veteran of the US Air Force and proudly served his country. He
retired from Hardinge Inc. after several years of dedicated service as a

DEAN K. BELLOWS, 77, OF Towanda died Monday evening, Oct. 10, 1994, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center; Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Born May 17, 1917, in Wysox, he was a son of the late Kelsey and Margaret Chaapel Bellows. Mr. Bellows was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He later was employed by Gordon Robbins, mason contractor of Troy, for many years. Dean was a member of East Smithfield VFW Post No. 7378. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Surviving are: his wife, Ruby Bump Bellows; a daughter, Marian Bellows of Towanda RR 4; three sons, Timothy Bellows and Dewey Bellows, both of Towanda RR 3, and James Bellows of Towanda; a sister, Mary Shanfelt of California; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Dustin and Danny Bellows; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Kelsey and Conley Bellows; and three sisters, Isadore Shay, Eloise Bellows and Clarabelle Smith. The funeral and committal service will be held Thursday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, with the Rev. Harry L. Ferguson, pastor emeritus of the Wysox Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira. Towanda American Legion Post No. 42 will accord military honors at the funeral home Thursday afternoon. BELLOWS Luther K.
Age 84, of Elmira, NY, died
peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 6, 2010. Luther was born on September
24, 1925 in Elmira, son of the late Luther H. and Myrtle (Butts) Bellows.
Luther served our country in the United States Navy during WWII. He retired
from Fassett Inc. after many years of service. He was a lifetime member of the
NRA, also a longtime member of the South Creek Rod and Gun Club. He will be
missed by his family and friends dearly. Luther is survived by his daughter,
Marilyn (Eddie) Mosley of Brandon, FL; son, Raymond (Judy) Bellows of Milan,
PA; brothers, Donny Bellows of Mansfield, PA and Louis Bellows of Gillett, PA;
special granddaughter, Rae Ann Kain, along with several other grandchildren and
great grandchildren. Luther was predeceased by his wife Gladys in 2001 and
sister-in-law, Gayle Mayes. Family and friends are invited to call Friday, July
9, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral services

BENEDICT - TOWNLEY, Sandra B.
Age 64, of Rt. 13 in Horseheads, died after a brief illness Thurs., April 2,
2009, at Elcor Health Services Center where she had recently been residing.
Sandy was born July 9, 1944 in Elmira, NY the daughter to the late Carlton and
Leona Mae (Adams) Benedict. She was predeceased by her husband of 16 years,
Jack Townley in 1994. Her surviving family includes her brothers, Donwayne Benedict
of San Francisco, CA, Floyd Benedict of Horseheads, NY, Frank (Mary) Benedict
of Gaston, SC, Glenn (Agnes) Benedict of Horseheads, NY; several nieces and
nephews including Denise Christofaro; and Eric Krause; brother-in-law, Roy P.
Krause of Horseheads, NY. She was also survived by her feline companion,
"J.T." Sandy was also predeceased by her sisters, Barbara Cooper in
1997 and Nancy Krause in 1999. She was also predeceased by her precious dog,
"Pebbles." Sandy was a T.A.E. class of 1964 graduate and a machine
operator with Corning Inc. when she retired there in 2002. She was a kind a
gracious lady who will be missed by those whose lives she touched. Special

BENJAMIN –MRS. BETTE JANE (BENJAMIN) GREEN of Van Etten, NY, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the age of 73. Bette was born to parents Gladys and Arthur Benjamin on May 14, 1943 in Sayre, PA. She grew up in Van Etten, NY and graduated from the Van Etten High School. She held several secretarial positions over her lifetime the last one being with the Spencer Van Etten school district. She owned and operated several businesses over the years, the last one being Tinker's Treasure shop. She met her husband in the early 1960's and married in 1966. Over the years Bette and her husband were involved the Van Etten-Spencer VFW, SVE Sports Boosters and assorted other organizations. Bette is survived by her daughter Penny (Douglas) Brown of Dryden NY; her son James (Therisa) Green of Hoquiam, WA; her sister, Barbara Brisbane of Virginia Beach, VA; Brothers; Robert (Linda) Benjamin of Erin, NY; Donald (Rose) Benjamin of Odessa, NY; William (Charlene) Benjamin of Butler, WI; Arthur (Lucille) Benjamin of Oklahoma, OK; Jack (Karen) Benjamin of Waverly, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Green, her parents Gladys & Arthur Benjamin and brother David Benjamin. Horseheads: Age 59 of Horseheads, NY died on Wednesday March 23, 2011. Roger was born September 23, 1951 in Knoxville, PA. He was pre-deceased by his mother Ethel Hall Hufford in 2004. Roger is survived by his wife of twenty-four years Valerie, son Jason (Karla) Benjamin, daughters Erin (Ryan) Buzzetti and Stacey (John) Howard, four cherished granddaughters Tricia Benjamin, Kennedy, Karlie, and Kamryn Buzzetti and one very special grandson Gabriel Howard. Three sisters Vandeline (Kenneth) Green of Horseheads, NY, Hope ( Darwin) Stevens of Westfield, PA, and Marcia (Mike) Lieber of Schenectady, NY, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. Roger was employed as a machinist at Reynolds Manufacturing in Big Flats from June 1994 to January 2011. Roger proudly served our country with The U.S. Marine Corps during The Vietnam War from 1970 to 1972 and was a member of The Skinner-Ernest American Legion Post 1612 in Big Flats, NY for over twenty years. Age 66 of Elmira, NY. She was born March 25, 1947 in Sayre, PA, daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Claypool) Bennett and died Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Hollis Head in 1995 and is survived by her sons Roger and Christopher Campbell; grandchildren Adaras and Marina Campbell, Victor Smith; nieces Val and Vickie Bennett; lifelong friend June McDowell; special friends Jennifer Smith and Carmen Pellot. BENNETT –LOIS R. STORCH died Thursday April 4, 2002 unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep at her home in Elmira at the age of 73. Born on January 5, 1929 in Rome, PA, Lois was the daughter of Willis and Ruth Rutty Bennett. She married John F. Storch on September 21, 1947 at Epworth United Methodist Church in Elmira and they made their home here ever since. Lois was employed by Sears and Roebuck in the Auditing Department for several years. She attended Hillcrest Baptist Church. Lois enjoyed oil painting, gardening and caring for her family and home. Surviving is her loving husband of 54 years, John F. Storch; her children, Susan L. Storch of Lebanon, NJ; Lorin C. and Roxanne M. Storch of Elmira; and Karen B. Storch of Horseheads; a grandson, Aaron C. Stanbro and an granddaughter, Elissa M. Stanbro; brothers and sisters-in-law, Willis and Marilyn Bennett of Brookside, PA and Everett and JoAnne Bennett of Helena, AL; along with nieces, nephews and cherished friends. BENNETT Mahlon R. "Bud"
Age 87, died Monday, September 2, 2013 at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. Bud was born in Albion NY on August 28, 1926, a son of Mahlon and Gertrude (Prussia) Bennett. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Bud is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Mary and David Wintersteen, Lockport NY; 2 nieces, 5 nephews, several great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by longtime friends, Bill and Hazelle Kinney, Elmira and their children Adam and Alexis who were Bud's two charges. During WW II Bud served with the US Coast Guard/Merchant Marines. From 1948 to 1973 he worked as a chef for various colleges including, SUNY Fredonia, SUNY Buffalo, and Elmira College. From 1973 to 1988 Bud was a chef at Horigan's/Sheehan's Restaurant in Elmira. and Betty (Wertman) Bennett, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at St.
Joseph's Hospital at the age of 61. He is survived by his loving daughter,
Nytosha Bennett of Elmira, NY; siblings: Roger (Teri) Bennett of Atlanta,

F. LEWIS, age 89 of Elmira, NY. She was born May 6, 1925 in Elmira, daughter
of the late Willie and Nina (Harrison) Benson and passed away Friday, August
1, 2014 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. She was predeceased by her
husband William "Nick" H. Lewis, Sr.; son William "Snooky" H. Lewis, Jr.;
siblings Delphine Benson, Lunna Howard, Laura Taylor, Thelma Lewis, Burl
Benson, Cleave Benson, Lena Cooke and Josie Thomas. She is survived by her
children and their spouses Terry and Anita Lewis of Elmira, Pamela and Alex
(Pat) Gilliam of Hanover, MD, Gretchen Lewis of Elmira, Harriet Lewis of
White Plains, NY and John Lewis of Elmira; grandchildren Alexis (Steve)

BERTELSEN Arthur D.
Born on May 2, 1926, to Louis and Alice Bertelsen in Perth Amboy, NJ, died October 15, 2013. He was the father of six children, Bob (Sandy), Joe, Nancy, Kathy (Larry) Rhode, Doug and David. His parents and sons David and Joe pre-deceased him, David in 2000 and Joe in 2005. Arthur is survived by his son Bob (Sandy); daughters Nancy and Kathy (Larry) Rohde; son Doug and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arthur was a WWII veteran of the US Army. He retired from American Bridge after more than 30 years of service. He was a big Kyle Busch fan in NASCAR. He loved his Yankees and Giants. At the family's request there will be no calling hours. Burial will take place at the Woodlawn National Cemetery. Thanks to the nursing staff and aides of the 6th floor of the Chemung County Nursing Facility for all their care and attention they gave Arthur for the past 4 years and especially Nan the van driver. BESCHLER age 86 of Willow Street, PA and formerly of Van Orden Dr. in
Horseheads passed away on April 4, 2015. James was born on Sept. 20, 1928 in
Bellwood, PA. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his
beloved wife, Deloris B. Beschler in 2011 and siblings, Earl, Marlin and
Margaret "Peg" Rinker. James is survived by, sons and daughters, John
Beschler of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Thomas Beschler of Sicklerville, NJ,
Timothy Beschler of Peoria, IL, Tamara (Paul) Ashway of Willow Street, PA
and Katherine (Jerry) Richardson of Mountain Home, ID; five grandchildren;
sister, Elizabeth Martin of Virginia and brother, Mike "Sonny" Beschler of
New England; mother-in-law, Margaret Johnston of Peoria, IL; brother-in-law,
John Eames of Dangerfield, TX; sister-in-law, Sue Coffman of Peoria, IL;
After retiring from the US Air Force, Jim worked at Hardinge Brothers in
Elmira, operating a tumbler machine. He retired from Harding Inc at the age
of 62. He held several other jobs throughout his life including taxi driver,
short order cook, and owned a refuse hauling business. He loved working with
wood. Jim crafted many beautiful things including a cradle for his first
grandchild, specialized furniture for a granddaughter with disabilities and
multiple decorative pieces for others. Most of all he enjoyed spending time
with his children and grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to
attend a celebration of his life to take place on Wed. April 15, 2015 at
10:00 am in the First Baptist Church of Horseheads 2293 Grand Central Ave.

RINKER Margaret E. "Peg" Age 82, of Elmira, NY, died on Monday, May
15, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Bellwood, PA, to the late
Karl and Mary Jane (Wiley) Beschler. Peg was predeceased by her husband,
Wallace "Slap" Rinker and a son, Wallace Rinker III. She is survived

Age 91, of West Elmira, passed peacefully at home on June 5, 2010. Bill was
born on May 24 1919 in Jimtown, PA to Vincent S. and Mary (Gavlas) Biroscak. He
is survived by his wife, and best friend, of 56 years Lois A. (Huber) Biroscak.
His children include Mary M. Biroscak, Watkins Glen, NY, with her children,
Michael, Steven, Paul, James Rhys-Gilroy Shutts, and Jill Dunham; Linda L.
Kugelman, Blacksburg, VA, with her children, Virginia, Rebekah, Elizabeth, and
John; Anne M. (Fred II) Hauser, Kawkawlin, MI, with children Jeffrey and Jordan
Mayer; Patricia L. (Andrew) Murdock, Greensboro, NC and their sons, Rhys and
Mason; William H. Biroscak, with his children, Andrew and Barbara; and
Elizabeth A. Biroscak, all of Elmira. His surviving siblings are: Cecilia Howe,
Elizabeth Scott, Theresa Roob, George, Mary Sahm, Margaret (Jim) Crider, Joanne
Egnatowski, Joseph, Catherine Kolb, and Vincent, Jr. (Margaret). He is also
survived by brother-in-law Philip (Sylvia) Huber of Corning; sister-in-law
Marcia (Edward) Smith of Penn Yan, NY; six great-grandchildren; and many
beloved nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents, sister Anna,
brothers, John and Ronald. Bill served in the U S Navy from 1939 – 1945 as a
Radioman. After Pearl Harbor he worked exclusively in the Pacific Theatre
aboard the USS Vincennes. After his honorable discharge he relocated to Corning
and began working as a Scheduler for Corning Glass Works, Big Flats Plant. Bill
was a charter member and instrumental in the formation of the West Elmira
Volunteer Fire Department. He was proud to be a fireman…at 83 he answered a
call just to serve coffee in his turnout gear. Bill stayed politically involved
and worked for various political candidates. He took great pride in his healthy
lifestyle and continued to go for daily walks until May. Friends are invited to
a graveside service, with military honors, on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 3:00
p.m. at Woodlawn National Cemetery. Following the graveside service all
are invited to West Elmira Fire Department Hall for a reception with the
Biroscak Family. A Memorial Mass, for Bill, will be held Sunday, June 27, 2010

Swartout. Lucy was predeceased by husband, Milton George Swartout; and son,

Grace M. nee: Black Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend Age 82, of
Elmira, died and her beloved husband of 50 years, Hank, on Friday, October 28,
2005 at home, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with
cancer. She was born in Canandaigua, NY, the daughter of William and Florence
Bailey Black on March 23, 1923. She was predeceased by her parents; husband,
Hank; son, Richard; sister, Geraldine; and brother, William, Jr.; and is
survived by her daughter, Mary Theresa, Farmington, NY; granddaughters, Ailisa
and Stephanie, Rochester; great-granddaughters, Kaeleigh and Grace of Rochester;
a sister, Evelyn Jane Soper, Ralston, PA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends. Grace was a retired employee of Arnot-Ogden Medical Center and the
Supreme Court Library. She was a lifelong member of St. Casimir's Church where
she devoted many years of service to the Church Bingo committee and pierogi
making and was a Member of its Rosary/Sacred Heart Society and the Wanda
Circle. She will be sadly missed until we see her again. Family will receive
relatives and friends at the Kalec Funeral Home, Wednesday, November 2nd from
2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayer service there Thursday at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of

BLAKE - FULMER, Gertrude B.
A long time resident of the Fassett and Gillett communities died Monday,
January 7, 2008 while under the care of Bethany Health Care and Southern Tier
Hospice at the age of 84. Born on September 22, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA,
Gertrude was the daughter of John E. & Blanche S. Otto Blake. She was a
loving wife to her husband, Elmer Elsworth Fulmer Jr. for over 50 years until
his passing in 1994. Their first 20 years of marriage were spent in the
Philadelphia, PA area before moving to the Fassett, PA. In serving the Lord,
she was an active member of the Fassett Baptist Church. Honored by her family
heritage, Gertrude was an active member of the Daughters of the American
Revolution with over 50 years of service. Very social Gerturde made friends
easily, as was the case at Bethany Manor. Surviving are her loving sons and
their families, Elmer (Bonnie) Fulmer, Dallas, TX; Richard "Dick"
(Marge) Fulmer, Gillett, PA; Allen (Barbara) Fulmer, Elmira; and James (Linda)
Fulmer, Hamburg, PA; grandchildren, Rich (Billie) Fulmer, Janice (Jan)

BLANEY Alan D.
Age 47 of Big Flats, NY died on Monday July 7, 2008. Alan was born July 12,
1960 in Sayre, PA. He was a graduate of Southside High School Class of 1978.
Alan was a Veteran serving his country with The U.S. Air Force from 1978 -
1982. Alan married his wife, Maureen A. McDonald Blaney, on October 9, 1982 and
they would have celebrated their 26th Wedding Anniversary this year. He was a
graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Alan was
employed as a Registered Nurse at Southport Correctional Facility in Elmira, NY
and was previously employed by Founder's Pavilion in Corning, NY. He was
pre-deceased by his grandparents, his mother-in-law Alice McDonald, and his
father-in-law Ewan McDonald. Alan was a loving husband, father, son, brother,
and friend. His daughters Emily and Claire were the "Center of His
Universe" and his Pride and Joy. He loved being a husband and father as
his family was his life. His home was his castle and he loved nothing more than
spending time there, entertaining family and friends or alone, working on home
improvement projects, playing guitar and the piano, tinkering with computers,
tending to his garden or working in his yard. Alan was an excellent nurse who
always strived to do his very best. Alan was an avid golfer who will be
remembered for his sense of humor, his creativity and desire to leave the world
a little better than the way he found it. And he certainly did that without
question. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him and were touched by his
life. Alan is survived by his loving devoted wife of over 25 years Maureen A.
Blaney; his daughters Emily M. Blaney and Claire T. Blaney both at home;

M. GILBERT, age 92 of Horseheads, NY, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014.
She was born in Trumansburg to the late Melvin and Beatrice (Chase) Bodine.
Edna was predeceased by her husband, LeRoy J., Sr. in 1999; daughter, Deanna
R. Polovick in March 2014; son-in-law, Michael Polovick in 1994; brothers
and sisters, Clayton, Mansel, Lloyd, Charles, Arlan, AdaBelle and Ruth
Townley. Edna is survived by her sons, Arthur (Linda) Gilbert of Erin, LeRoy
"Roy" (Holly Smith) Gilbert Jr. of Horseheads; grandchildren, Kimberly
(James) Brown, Christopher (Amanda) Gilbert, Andrew (Michelle) Gilbert,
Melissa Gilbert, Gilbert, Cindy (Randy)Ames, Janet (Karen) Gilbert, Marisa
Smith; several great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; several
nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Weyburn
Bodine, Marjorie Rudd, Elma Swingle, Melvin Bodine Jr., and Dorothy Smith.
Edna worked at Remington Rand when she met Roy, the love of her life, a
soldier at leave on his way to the European Front during WWII. Later moving
to Elmira she worked in the shoe department at the Gorton Coy and JC
Penny's. A serious back injury limited her duties to her home. She loved to
cook and bake and maintained several very pretty flower gardens. She love to
play cards and enjoyed spending time and her hospitality with any of the
many friends and family that dropped in for what she called "Happy Hour". An
avid Yankee fan, for several years she would not miss a game. Most of all,
she loved her family and cherished her children. Family and friends are

BOGH - NOONAN, Karen
Of South Main St. Elmira, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at the Arnot-Ogden
Medical Center following an illness at the age of 79. Born on May 8, 1928 in
Hjorring, Denmark, Karen was the daughter of Laurits & Edith Rasmussen
Bogh. She was a loving wife and companion to her husband David Noonan Jr. until
his passing in 2001. She graduated from Elmira Business Institute and was
employed by both Hills and Ames Department Stores following their closing she
began employment for the American Red Cross in Elmira as an office worker.
During her employment she held the responsibility of encouraging people to
donate a life saving gift. Her many interests included gardening, bike riding
and caring for her pet birds. Karen was very active and enjoyed the challenge
each day presented. Karen is survived by her loving children, David & Laura
Noonan , Pine City; Laurits Noonan, Elmira; Colleen Scalzo, Elmira; Patrick
Noonan, Elmira; Kevin & Eileen Noonan, Elmira; twelve grandchildren, two

at the Bath VA. Bill was born October 9, 1925, son of the late Francis J. and

during World War II. He was the city editor at the Corning Leader from 1972
until his retirement in 1983. Bill then started a second career as a drug and
alcohol counselor with the Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Clinic in Elmira. In
1992 the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of Chemung County honored Bill as the
recipient of the Brian R. Nagy, M.D. Professional Excellence Award for
outstanding contributions to the substance abuse field. He was also active in
the community, having been a member and past-president of the Painted Post
Kiwanis Club. Donations in Bill's memory may be directed to St. Joseph's

–THERESA H. KNAPP age 88, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Sunday, March 26,
2017. She was born in Elmira, NY on August 21, 1928 to the late Anthony and
Josephine (Carozza) Bonsignore. Theresa was predeceased by her husband,
Herbert Knapp and sisters, Mary Panetta and Antoinette Lopreste. She is
survived by her brother, Michael (Ann) Bonsignore; nephews, Anthony Panetta,
Joseph (Kelly) Bonsignore and David Bonsignore; nieces, JoAnn Panetta, Donna
Costley and Michele (Anthony) DeSocio; along with several great nieces and
nephews. Theresa was a very caring and loveable person and will be sadly

Age 77 of Horseheads, NY died
on Saturday June 12, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family. Angeline was
born November 23, 1932 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Daniel Anthony
Boscaino and Adeline Pilla Boscaino. She was pre-deceased by her husband James
L. Stansfield on July 4, 1989. Angeline was also pre-deceased by her son James
A. Stansfield on June 5, 1988 as well as her sisters and brothers. Angeline
retired from Moore Business Forms in Elmira, NY and from Toshiba Corporation in
Horseheads, NY. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo and going to casinos.
Angeline loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with

63, of Gouldsboro, passed away suddenly, Tuesday evening January 2, 2018, in
the emergency room at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Plains Twp. Born in
Syracuse, New York, on June 27, 1954, he was a son of the late Henry and
Beverly (Robinson) Bushey. After completing high school, Dean enlisted in
the United States Air Force where he served on active duty for 20 years as a
supply technician, earning awards and decorations for his service. Dean
retired from the Air Force in 1995. As a civilian he was employed by a
number of companies as he travelled with his wife, also an Air Force
veteran, to different military installations until her retirement in 2004.
He acquired a position with Sears Logistics of Covington Township,
Pennsylvania, after they settled in Northeast Pennsylvania. Dean enjoyed the
outdoors, hunting, camping and working in the yard. Surviving is his wife of
34 years, Jacqueline Boucher of Gouldsboro; daughter, Nicole Johnson, and
her husband, JJ, of Pittston; son, Nathan Boucher, and his companion, Lucy
Tang, of Reno, Nev.; sister, Mary Gonzales, and her husband, David, of
Temple City, Calif.; brothers, William Bushey, and his wife, Mary, of Santa
Rosa, Calif.; and Greg Bushey, and his wife, Susan, of Petaluma, Calif.;

She married Peter King on June 26, 1971 in Elmira. A devoted homemaker, Rosemary enjoyed crafts, knitting, sewing and raising her large family of ten children. Elmira: Age 84, died peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Shirley was born in Elmira on October 1, 1927, daughter of Frank and Eunice (Harding) Bowman. She was predeceased by her husband Louis A. Augustine, brother Robert Bowman, sister and brother-in-law Ellen and Jack Dublin. Shirley is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Stanley J. and Judith H. Augustine of Horseheads; granddaughters Ashley and Amy Augustine; great granddaughter Rylynn Augustine; sister and brother-in-law Judith and Max Collins of Irvine CA; sister-in-law Wilma Bowman of Aurora CO; several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Shirley's greatest joy was time spent with family. She grew up spending summers on Keuka Lake. It was a love she passed on to her husband Lou early in their marriage. They purchased a cottage on the lake which they kept for nearly 40 years. It was the gathering place for family reunions and other family events. In turn, Lou passed on to Shirley a love for the card game euchre. She became an avid player. In later years Shirley became a volunteer with the American Red Cross. Shirley loved oil painting and knitting, and was a longtime communicant of St. Casimir's Church. She retired after a successful career with Marine Midland Bank. BRADY Francis X. Dr. Age 81 of Elmira, NY died on Wednesday January 10, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira, NY. Dr. Brady was born January 29, 1925 in Hanover, PA the son of the late Francis X. and Katherine Keller Brady. He was a Veteran of WW II serving his country with the US Navy attaining the rank of Ensign. Frank received his Bachelor's Degree from Shippensburg State College and also received his Master's Degree in Education from Shippensburg State College. Frank married his wife, Margaret Shaffer "Mart" Brady, on June 21, 1952 and she pre-deceased him on September 27, 1992. He taught school and coached football in Pennsylvania for several years. Frank was elected to The Southern Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame as a Football Coach. During his entire career in education he became a mentor and advisor to many teachers as well as students who continued to keep in contact with him. Dr. Brady received his Doctorate Degree (PHD) in History in 1965 from Ball State University. Dr. Brady was The Dean of Continuing Education at Elmira College from 1965-1989. He was also a Professor Emeritus at Elmira College. "Chub" as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was a long-time member of The Corning Country Club and wrote The Chatter Newsletter for many years. Frank enjoyed his golfing trips to Blue Mountain with his golfing buddies through the years. He was an avid reader, golfer, enjoyed listening to music especially jazz, and watching football games and golf matches. Frank was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Elmira, NY. "Doc" loved his family and friends and cherished every moment he spent with them. BREITUNG of Horseheads, NY went to Join his beloved wife Gloria, at the
age of 86 very unexpectedly on May 17, 2016. Born on December 21, 1929 in
Brooklyn, NY to parents, Benjamin and Grace Breitung. He was the youngest of
two sons. Brother's Ben and Bob remained close all of their lives. After
graduating High School, Bob served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on
an LTV as a pipe fitter. He served faithfully and had many amazing
experiences. He was honorable discharge and continued to be involved in
Naval groups. He married his sweetheart Gloria Russe on June 27, 1952.
Together they raised a beautiful family of 5 daughters and one son, on L.I.
NY where Bob worked as a wiring technician for Western Electric Company
which he retired from after 30 plus years of dedicated service. Bob enjoyed
hunting, fishing, skeet shooting and the NY Mets. Activities he enjoyed most
with his children and grandchildren. He regularly attended St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Horseheads. Bob also volunteered at lunch services for
seniors. " The Man The Myth The Legend". He was known and loved for his
humor, his stories, his "Bobisms" and his unique Brooklyn accent. He will be
greatly missed by his large family and many friends. Bob is survived by his
5 daughters Mary Zurcher, Nancy Morley, Robin Dillard, Karen Tassoni and
Ellen Rinaldi and son Thomas Breitung. Proud grandfather of 19, great

Age 81, of Elmira, NY, died peacefully in the comfort of his home Tuesday,
November 10, 2009. Bill was born October 14, 1928, a son of the late Robert and
Julia Biecker Brennan. He served his country honorably with the US Navy during
WWII. Bill retired as a Maintenance Supervisor at the NYS Correctional Facility
in Elmira, NY. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Ellen Mikkelsen;
children, Mark (Millie) Brennan, Regina (Curt) Sweet, Barbara Good, Rebecca
Good, Margaret (Arthur) Tipton, Kimberly (Toby) Lagonegro; grandchildren,
Robbie Brennan, Tiffany Pelrah, Kate Russell, Andrew Fuller, Alexis Eisenhart,
Abbe Tipton and Peter Lagonegro; great-grandchildren, Jacob Wallace, Collin

She married John. F. Kozinsky, March 4, 1957 in Big Flats, NY. He predeceased
her May 30, 1998. Jackie had worked over 20 years as a bookkeeper at Minier's
Grocery in Big Flats. She was a member of the Big Flats American Legion
Auxiliary. She is survived by a son, John D. "Jay" (Karen) Kozinsky
of Elmira Heights; daughter, Janice Lynch of Claverack, NY; brother, Mr. &

age 69, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday November 2,
2014 at his home in Elmira Heights, NY. Rustin was born in Endicott, NY
September 17, 1945. He was the son of the late Bernetta (Grow) French.
Rustin is a veteran having served in the Vietnam War with the United States
Navy. He was predeceased by his brother, Merland and his sister, Barbara.
Rustin is survived by his daughter and son in-law, Christina and Robert

son of the late Charles Wesley and Edythe Elizabeth Bright. Charles is

Medal, which he had over 50 combat missions flights during his tour of duty in

Age 72, of Elmira, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 30, 2012 at home. Matthew was born on December 24, 1939 in Elmira, son of the late Mathew and Gaetana (Rossi) Brookman Sr. Matthew served our country in the US Marines during the Vietnam War and was a member of American Legion Post #154. He retired from Frey The Wheelman Inc. in Elmira as a sales representative. Matthew just married his beloved wife Sharon (Avery), on Saturday, March 24th 2012. He enjoyed life and cherished his grandchildren dearly. GRACES0N JOHN BROTZMAN, 64, of Athens, Pa.,
passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020 at his home with his devoted wife
and caregiver by his side, following an extended illness. He was born on
Dec. 17, 1955 in Elmira, N.Y., the son of Gerald and Mary Lou (Black)
Brotzman. Graceson was a veteran of the Navy and Army, serving during the
Vietnam War and retiring in 1988. During his military career, he held many
positions, including being a local recruiter for the Army. He enjoyed
spending time with family and friends. Graceson loved watching the news
almost 24/7. He enjoyed playing basketball. Graceson was an avid reader,
especially history books. In his younger years, he was a Boy Scout and
remained in the program as a Troop Leader and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Graceson was raised in the Episcopal Church and attended Sayre Christian
Church. He is predeceased by his father, Gerald Brotzman; mother, Mary Lou
Wright; stepfather, John Wright; and sister, Johnna Bobick. Graceson is
survived by his wife, Judy (Mosier) Brotzman, at home; daughter and
son-in-law, Dawn and Bruce Sims of California; son, Carl Brotzman of

be with His Lord and Savior on Saturday December 7, 2019 at home surrounded
by his loving family. Peter was born January 20, 1943 in Elmira, NY the son

Free Academy, He was a Vietnam Veteran serving his country with The U.S.
Navy. Peter married his wife Gloria Jean Tillotson Brown on December 9, 1966
and they recently celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary . Peter was a
member of the First Baptist Church of Horseheads. He was a retired
Stationary Engineer at Corning Community College. Peter loved hunting and
traveling and boating on Seneca Lake. In addition to his parents, Peter was

ROBERT J. BRUCE
passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at the age of 79 at the Bethany
Manor in Horseheads, NY. At his bedside was his loving wife of 25 years,
Helen L. Northrop-Bruce and step daughter Suzane Northrop. Bob was born on
July 23, 1939 and was raised by his foster parents, Frank and Harriet Bruce
of Batavia, N.Y. He is survived by his two sons, Marty Bruce and Robbie
Bruce of Batavia, NY. He is also survived by his favorite Aunt Rose and
Uncle Warren Ruhlman, and sister, Mary Masillo all of Batavia, NY; his three
step children: Suzane Northrop of NYC, Sherry Lehman of Montana and Cindy
Lou Northrop of Los Angeles, CA. Bob was in the US Army and stationed in
Germany and England. He was given an honorable discharge. In his
professional career, Bob was a correctional officer for 27 years. He began
his career in Attica, NY, and ended his career in Southport Correctional
Facility in Elmira, NY. He witnessed the Attica riots and was one of the
first officers hired at the new Southport Facility, where he trained many of
the new officers. His great passion and love was "Bob's Bike Shop" in Pine
Valley, NY, that he owned for over 10 years. He loved working, selling, and
fixing all kinds of bikes to different age groups. He also worked in Tioga
Downs as a security guard for 5 years. Bob was a member of the Captain
Clarence Oliver Post 154 of the American Legion in Elmira Heights, NY. He
was also a member of the Moose Club in Montour Falls, NY. Bob loved playing
cards. His two favorite games were Euchre and Pinochle, where he won many
tournaments. He was also an avid Yankee and Buffalo Bills fan. Graveside
services will be held Friday, September 28th at 11:00 am at the Woodlawn
National Cemetery, Elmira, NY. A memorial luncheon will follow at noon at
the American Legion Post 154, in Elmira. In lieu of flowers, please make a

BRUNSKILL - BRILL, Catherine L., Of Elmira, NY, Was born August 7, 1924 in Hornell, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur and Mildred (Collins) Brunskill, died peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital at the age of 83. Her brothers, Mason and William Brunskill also predeceased her. On September 1, 1945, Catherine Brunskill was united in Holy Matrimony with her beloved Francis J. Brill at St. Mary's Church. They have enjoyed 62 wonderful years of life and love together. She is survived by her loving husband, Francis; daughter, Joan Cerio; son, Robert (Jeanann) Brill; son, Paul (Viola) Brill; and daughter, Christine (John) Thomas, all of Elmira, NY; adored grandchildren, Suzette Morgan, Claudia Cerio (Chris Carrigan), Kara (Ben) Clark, Robert (Chris) Brill Jr., Peter Joseph Brill, Amanda Thomas and Graham Thomas; much loved great-grandchildren, Isadora Morgan, Tristan Morgan, Balin Clark, Emily, Kaliann, Caden and Avery Brill; sisters, Jean Lunn and Ella Wilkins, both of Hornell, NY, Mary Howe of Arkport, NY, Helen Frost of Mesa, AZ; along with several sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Catherine was a devoted communicant of St. Mary's Church. For several years she was an employee of Remington Rand, an election inspector with the Chemung County Board of Elections and a Key Punch Operator for the County as well. Catherine was also very involved with the Cope House in Elmira, where she was a doll collector, designer and teacher. She loved to travel and has a fond memory of Square Dancing on the Rhine River in Germany with her beloved Francis. She was an accomplished seamstress and talented gardener. She will always be remembered for being a wonderful hostess and the master of tea parties. Her potato salad and spaghetti sauce will be cherished memories that the family will also remember. Catherine was a collector and keeper of friends. Age 85 of Horseheads, NY formerly of Elmira, NY died on Monday November 26,
2007. Mr. Bryan was born July 8, 1922 in the Town of Erin, NY the son of the
late Jacob and Bessie Springer Bryan. He was a Veteran of WW II serving his
country with The U.S. Marine Corps. Melvin married his wife, Carolina M.
Palmieri Bryan, on April 15, 1950 and she pre-deceased him on April 30, 1999.
He was also pre-deceased by five brothers and two sisters. Mr. Bryan was a
retired employee of Elm Chevrolet in Elmira, NY. He was a communicant of St.
Casimir's Church in Elmira, NY. Melvin loved his family and friends especially
his grandchildren and great grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with

Miller; son, John Emanuel, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Emanuel; and grandson,
Daniel P. Emanuel, Jr. Mabel is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel
P., Sr. and Sandra Emanuel; grandsons, John A. (Becky) Emanuel III, Lance E.

Age 81, of Horseheads, and formerly of Campbell, died Sept. 3, 2008. He was born
in Interlaken, NY in 1926 to the late Chester and Viola Burdick. Roy joined the
United States Marine Corps during WWII. He graduated from Corning Community
College in 1971 with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science. Roy is survived
by his loving wife of 61 years, Doris; his son, Roy Jr. and his wife, Doreen of
Painted Post, NY; his daughter, Cindy Toothacre and husband, Scott of Ramona,
CA; four grandchildren, Samantha, Mathew, Ryan and Karlee; and one

BURDICK William R. "Bill" Age 75, died Friday, October 19th, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Bill was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was also a member of; the Big Flats Masonic Lodge # 378 F & AM, the Harmony Loyal O.E.S., past Grand Associate Sentinel O.E.S., Cashmere Grotto, Elmira Heights American Legion Post #954 and Elmira Heights VFW Rexfield Post #901. Bill was a bus driver for the Mark Twain Cadetes. Much of Bill's free time was spent doing volunteer work, especially for Meals on Wheels. He was a former Boy Scouts of America scout leader and a past PTA president at Elmira Hardy School. He was a volunteer at both the Booth School and with RSVP. BURK Charles H.
Age 80, of Roberts Hollow Road, Lowman, New York, died Sunday, April 15, 2007,
at the Chemung County Nursing Facility following a lengthy illness. He was born
September 24, 1926 in Sayre, PA, son of the late Norman and Minnie (Lyons)
Burk. Charles attended area schools and was married to the late Eloise M.
(Petoski) Burk who died February 16, 1997. He entered the United States Navy on
October 18, 1943 and served in WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam War and was
discharged from active duty on March 4, 1963. Charles remained in the Naval
Reserves and was fully retired with 30 years of service on September 1, 1973.
He was also retired from F.M. Howell & Company where he worked in the
machine set-up department. Charles enjoyed having coffee everyday with his
friends at the Lowman Post Office and at Ann's Pancakes. Survivors include his
longtime neighbors the Donovan family, Joe and Anne, Joe, Jennifer; friends, Tammy
Adams, Dan and Barb Adams, Marissa and Jacob Adams; a nephew, Charles Atwood of
Yulee, FL; and canine friend, "Woodie". His wife, Eloise M. Burk; a
sister, Geraldine Atwood, and brother, Gilbert Burk, predeceased him. Services
will be private with Charles being laid to rest with full Military Honors next
to his wife Eloise in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, NY. Funeral

23, 2014. Gordon was born in Corning NY, April 29, 1928, a son of Margaret
(McCarthy) and Leland Burke. He is predeceased by his wife Patricia Martin
Burke, son Martin F. Burke and brother Leland Burke. Gordon is survived by
his children, Cynthia M. Burke of Elmira, Jeffry M. Burke of Corning and his
wife Sherry, David G. Burke of Middlesex NY, Kathy L. Burke of Elmira, Nancy
B. Kaiser of Hilton Head and her husband James; 15 grandchildren; 8

nephews. Gordon was a U S Army Korean War veteran. He was a graduate of
Elmira College. Gordon was a Professional Engineer, working for Corning Inc

Age 96 formerly of Schuyler Ave., Elmira, died Saturday April 12, 2008 at the
Arnot Ogden Medical Center Skilled Nursing Unit were she had been a resident
for several years. Loretta was born in Ossining NY, a daughter of John J. and
Margaret Lynch Burns. She was predeceased by her husband Casimir Essen in 1955
and a son Francis M. Essen in 1969. Loretta is survived by her daughter and
son-in-law, Judith A. and Thomas Beecher of Pine City; son Richard E. Essen;
grandchildren, Thomas (Sonya) Beecher Jr. of Richmond VA, Michelle Aber of Pine
City; Michael (Jennifer) Essen of Dallas GA, Patrick Essen of Atlanta GA,
Maureen Essen of Missoula MT; great grandchildren, Haley, Finnegan, Keagan,
Karen and Madison; sister, Margaret Burns Cady of Elmira; several nieces,
nephew and cousins. Loretta was a graduate of Cortland State University. She
taught for 40 years in New York State with 35 of those years being in Elmira at
Parley Coburn and Riverside schools. Loretta was a lifetime member of both the
Retired Teachers Association of New York State and the Retired Teachers
Association of the Elmira area. She was a longtime communicant of Ss. Peter
& Paul Church which is now part of Blessed Sacrament Parish. In earlier
years she was active at the church as a Eucharistic minister, was a member of
the Parish Sunshine Committee and was an auxiliary member of the Legion of
Mary. There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of
Christian Burial on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Ss. Peter &

ALLEN PLYNN BURT age 65 of Mansfield, PA died on
Thursday, December 16, 2021 at his home. Allen was born on June 15, 1956 in
Elmira NY, a son of Sidney "Jack" and Janet L (Allen) Burt. Allen is
survived by a son, Joshua (Jenna) Burt of Mansfield PA, and two
grandchildren, J.W. and Julia Burt; special friend Dianna Skovronski; two
brothers, David (Ruth) Burt and Richard "Rick" (Judy) Burt all of Mansfield,
PA; a sister, Kathryn (Ron Ellis) Rouse of Sassamansville, PA, and many
nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Allen was preceded in
death by his parents and a son, Jonathan Burt. Allen was self employed as a
hoof trimmer and enjoyed horses, farming, and going to auctions. In Keeping
with Allen's wishes there will be no services. A celebration of life will be

born October 13, 1933 in Memphis, TN, daughter of the late Samuel and Essie
Louise (Taylor) Guidry, and passed away Friday, December 17, 2021. In
addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Richard R.
Schrock, Sr., son Charles Schrock and brother Norman Guidry. Shirley is

Steve & Debbie Butters. Shirley retired from Tops Friendly Market as a
cashier. She was an avid Yankee and Cowboys fan. She loved spending time
with her 12 grandchildren and attending their various activities. Family and

Miller St., Elmira on Monday, December 20th from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Her
funeral service will follow at 12:30 pm. Interment will be in Woodlawn

–LORAINE A. TERRY, age 87 of Horseheads, NY formerly of Elmira, NY passed
away on Monday April 27, 2015. She was born in Elmira, NY on November 24,
1927 the daughter of the late Lynn and Katherine H. Coolbaugh Burton. She
had worked for the Mark Twain Hotel and Iszard's Department store. She was a
member of the North Presbyterian Church. She loved making ceramics and other
things. She was pre-deceased by her second husband John T. Terry on August
9, 1997 and by her brother Edward Grant. She is survived by her son, Gerald
R. Harding of Elmira, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a
Memorial Service at the North Presbyterian Church in Elmira, NY on Saturday

BUSH Ronald John
Elmira Heights: Age 68, died peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital on Saturday, December 14, 2013, with his family by his side. Ron was born in Geneva NY on October 21, 1945 a son of the late Donald J. and Bernice (Brown) Bush. In addition to his parents Ron is predeceased by his brother Gary Bush. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Nancy Keller Bush; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald J. and Laurie Bush, Elmira Heights with children Kieran, Brianna, Mikayla and Evan; daughter and son-in-law Stephanie A. and Todd Lindblad, Lowman NY with children Alexandria and "Peanut"; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rodney F. and Sallie Bush, Penn Yan, James D. and Leona "PeeWee" Bush, Geneva; several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Ron was a U S Marine Corps veteran having proudly served in Vietnam. He was extremely active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars having served as VFW Post 6433 Commander (1975) in Waterloo NY, VFW Finger Lakes County Council Commander (1977), 8th District VFW Commander (1984), many Dept. of New York VFW Committee Appointments, State of New York VFW Commander (1999-2000), National VFW appointments (2000-2011), and VFW National Council of Administration Member (2011-2012). Ron was also a member of the Waterloo American Legion, Seneca Falls Elks Club, Marine Corps League and the NRA. He enjoyed camping, fishing and was an avid golfer. His greatest joy was time spent with his grandchildren. Ron had worked as a production manager with North American Philips in Seneca Falls for 32 years and then worked for another 15 years with Toshiba in Horseheads. Committal services with military honors will be held in the spring at Woodlawn National Cemetery. That date and time will be announced as it approaches. Age 72, of Southport NY, died June 18, 2009, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre,
PA. Born on September 10, 1936 to John Butters and Leona Allington Butters, in
the town of Veteran, NY. Moonyeen was predeceased by her parents, her husband
Cecil and her son Jack, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by
children, Cecil (Flo) Johnson II, Leona Johnson, Carol Johnson (Harold White),
Steven Johnson and Joseph Johnson; two sisters, Roselee Reep and Dawn Kelley;
one brother Danny (Penny) Butters, and one very special sister in-law, Sandy
Johnson. Moonyeen has 10 grandchildren, Jonathan, Carrie, Moonyeen, Cinnamon,
Asa, Cassie, Michael, Jack, Blaine, and Paige also 4 great grandchildren,
Thaddeus, Mathew, Raqaya, and Rathwon. Moonyeen was a homemaker, who loved her
children and always put them first. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time
with her grandchildren. She was loved very much, and will be greatly missed by
all who had the pleasure of knowing or loving her. The family will receive
friends at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira/Southport,
NY on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with Funeral

Age 88 of Horseheads, NY. She was born June 7, 1923 in Elmira, daughter of the late Roy and Anna M. (Granger) Button and died Monday, April 2, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital. BUTTON – Leslie M. Button aged 55, for many years a resident of Sylvania, died at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Jennie Sherman, last Saturday, Sept. 16, 1950. His aunt, Mrs. Sherman, was his only close survivor but there are several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in Soper & Vickery Funeral Home Tuesday at 1 p.m., Rev. Harry V. Peters, with burial in the Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira.

Richard G. "Dick" Age 62, of Erin, NY. He was born December 9, 1942
in Elmira, son of John F. and Mary L. (Spetaccino) Buzzetti and died Tuesday,
October 25, 2005, at home after a 2 year battle with brain cancer. He was
predeceased by his father John, and is survived by his wife of 40 years,
Margaret "Peggy" (Nichols) Buzzetti; children, Richard (Shelley)
Buzzetti of Erin, Robert Buzzetti of Tucson, AZ, Stacie (Bryant)
Buzzetti-Angrove of Horseheads, Ryan (Erin) Buzzetti of Horseheads, Shannon
(Bocky Kitchin) Buzzetti of Elmira Heights and Mike (Donna) Silvia of Elmira;
grandchildren, Mackenzie, Kennedy, Bailey, Reese, Karlie, Alex, Kamryn, Rylie;
and two expectant grandchildren; mother, Mary L. Buzzetti of Elmira; brothers,
Robert (Mary Ann) Buzzetti of Orlando, FL, Chuck (Nancy) Buzzetti and Peter
Buzzetti, both of Elmira along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Antares. He retired
from a career in purchasing, from Expeditor to Director of Purchasing; was past
treasurer of NPMA and a member of the American Legion Post 442, Horseheads.
Dick and his brothers enjoyed their trips to the Corvette shows, a tradition he
hoped will continue. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent
Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Thursday, October
27th, from 4 to 7 p.m. His memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Rev. Robert
Russell will officiate. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn National Cemetery
Columbarium at the convenience of the family. Dick's family is very thankful
for all the prayers and offerings provided to them by family and friends.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses from the Elmira, Syracuse and Albany
VA medical facilities for their excellent care and compassion. A special thanks
to his "girl" Suzie who took such loving care of him. Those wishing
may remember Dick through donations to the Breesport Volunteer Fire Department

THOMAS LYLE
BYRNE, age 89, of Route 6, Troy, Pennsylvania, passed away Friday, Jan.
25, 2019, at the Robert Packer Hospital. Tom was born July 25, 1929, in
Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and was a graduate of Troy High School. Following
graduation he joined the U.S. Army and served his country from 1953 to 1955.
He was employed by American LaFrance in Elmira, New York, for many years and
later by the Troy School District where he was retired from. He enjoyed
coffee with his friends at Troy Lanes and could always be found at lunchtime
at the Troy Lunch. Survivors include his half sister, Carolyn Gee of
Granville Summit; a brother, Frank Byrne of Texas; and many local friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and his step-mother. In accordance with
Tom’s wishes there will be no services and he will be laid to rest in
Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, New York. Funeral arrangements are under
the direction of the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral and Cremation Services
