These people were the local populace at a particular time. The people buried here knew each other, were neighbors, relatives and school mates. They attended church together and engaged in "trade" or business. All people are listed in alphabetic order by surname at BIRTH. Women identified by a married alias only and for whom a birth surname can not be identified, are listed on the last page for the cemetery's obituaries. ARNOLD T.
BERTSCHE born on May 17, 1926, the 9th child of Arnold J. Bertsche and
Elizabeth Sullivan Bertsche. Arnold was born in Elmira, NY and moved to a
small mining town of Antrim, PA. Arnold graduated Wellsboro High School
early to join the Navy during WWII. While in the Navy, he had such
experiences as escorting Japanese POW's, participating in the atom bomb
testing and being aboard a sinking ship. After the Navy, Arnold married the
love of his life, Shirley Enyedy. Arnold then attained employment at
Remington Rand as a machinist/mechanic, attended Morrisville University, and
was eventually hired by Moore Business Forms. In 1967, Arnold, Shirley and
their three children moved to Honesdale, PA, where Arnold eventually became
the manager of maintenance and waste departments. Arnold was very active in
the Honesdale community and many organizations. He was instrumental in
WIDCO, Honesdale Co 1 Fire department and was a 3rd degree Knight in Hawley
and a Fourth degree Knight in Honesdale Knights of Columbus. He was a member
of the St. John the Evangelist RC Church, Honesdale and was one of the
original members of the Perpetual Adoration. Arnold was known for his sense
of humor, hard work, and the love of family, and was always close to all of
his seven sisters and brother, visiting them as often as he could. Arnold
always had many stories and smiles of how he grew up and his life
experiences. But, all that knew Arnold will miss his wit and wonderful
smile, and the women will remember his flirting. Arnold is preceded in death
by his wife, Shirley, as well as seven sisters and his brother. Arnold is
survived by his sister, Gena Johnson, Elmira, NY. He is also survived by his
children, Arnold E Bertsche, and wife Debbie, Honesdale; Mark S. Bertsche
and his wife Peg, Lincoln, NE; and Elizabeth Rose and husband Joseph; as
well as six grandchildren, Ryan Bertsch, Jacksonville, FL; Kyle Bertsche and
wife Shannon, California; Maggie Bertsche, Denver, CO; Kathleen Rose,
Elizabethtown, PA; Jacqueline Henderson and husband Steven, Stockholm
Sweden; and Daniel Rose, Lititz, PA. Arnold is also survived by many nieces
and nephews. The family would like to thank Ellen Memorial for their
wonderful care, Bethany Village, all the doctors, Nurses and staff along
with Father Langan and the pastors for all of their wonderful support during
Arnold's illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday,
July 9 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Honesdale at 10 a.m. Interment with full
military honors will be held on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter and
Paul's Cemetery, Elmira, NY. Friends may visit Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and
7 to 9 p.m. at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. –Elmira

FRANK JOSEPH BOBER died of natural causes on
August 22, 2019 at his home in Pine City, NY. Born on August 3, 1924 in
Elmira Heights, NY, he recently celebrated his 95th birthday. He was the
last surviving sibling of 8. In 1947 he married Lorraine Held of Elmira, NY
who passed away in 2010. Frank is survived by their children: JoAnn Georger
of Charlotte, NC; Linda Hurn of Syracuse, NY; Michael & Elizabeth (Meehan)
of Canadice, NY; Thomas & Kathy (Kugler) of Burleson, TX; James & Victoria
(Payne) of Bloomfield, NY. A daughter, Elaine died at birth. Frank had 12
grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. One of Frank's early jobs was
working at Eldridge Park on the merry-go-round as a ring arm feeder where he
delighted in feeding brass rings. Frank became a precision tool and die
maker working at several manufacturing facilities in the area, eventually
retiring from Elmira Stamping & Manufacturing as Vice President. In the
early days of television he seized the opportunity to make additional money
to support his growing family by repairing TVs & radios. Frank was a
proficient, self-taught craftsman, designing & building his home from the
ground up. In addition to mastering all of the building trades, he was an
artisan, making fine furniture and other things from black walnut wood he
harvested from his property. He appreciated the beauty and craftsmanship in
common objects like coins and stamps. Frank & Lorraine traveled extensively,
including countless polka weekends and cruises, making many long term
friendships along the way. Frank was a proud veteran serving in WWII & the
Korean Conflict. A Navy Signalman 1st Class Petty Officer he participated in
the "D day" invasion and was awarded the French Medal of Honor along with
several other service awards. His last service related mission was with
Honor Flight in 2012 to view the military monuments in Washington, DC. Frank
was very impressed by Honor Flight. In lieu of flowers he requested
donations be made in his name to: Honor Flight, Inc., 175 South Tuttle Road,
Springfield, OH or one of their local hubs. His family invites you to join
them at St. Casimir's RC church in Elmira, NY for his Mass of Christian
Burial on Saturday, 9/14, 10:00 AM where Frank was an active parishioner
serving on many committees over the years. Immediately following mass he
will be buried with military honors at Sts. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. -Elmira

BOCHLKE CHRISTINA - MRS. CHRISTINA WARD
Mrs. Christina B. Ward, 88, of 127 North Williamson Road, Blossburg, died
Saturday, September 22nd, 1973, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Elmira, NY following
an extended illness. She was the widow of Joseph P. Ward, founder of Ward
Foundry in Blossburg. She was born in Elmira on June 22, 1895, a daughter of
Charles and Emma Bork Bochlke. Mrs. Ward was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic
Church and a member of the Church's Altar and Rosary Society. She was
also a member of the Business and Professional Womens Club. Surviving are a
son, Charles B., of Blossburg; a daughter, Mrs. C. William Truter, of Sea
Island, Georgia; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Patterson, of Elmira, and Mrs. Lillian
Kuster, of Blossburg, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held
Wednesday in the church followed by burial in St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery at
Elmira. Rev. Robert L. Nealon, her pastor, officiated. Auld Funeral Home was in
charge of the arrangements.
BOLT - Evelyn B. Kingsley, 81,{SRGP 33067] of the Villa Serene Apartments, Elmira Heights, NY, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1992, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. Born July 30, 1911, she was the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Wilkins Bolt. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was retired from the Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse. Preceding her in death was her husband, Fred J. Kingsley, in 1972. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Bernadette Kingsley of Horseheads, NY; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Robert Marsh of Elmira Heights; special niece, Lettie Brace of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Paula Harrison, Eileen Dean, Rebecca Liotino, Robert Marsh Jr., Brenda Kelley and Belinda Marsh; seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the First Baptist Church of Elmira at 2 p.m. The Rev. Claudine Crooks will officiate. Burial well be made at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery at the convenience of the family. BORAK Robert J.
Age 59 of Painted Post and Canyon Country, CA, formerly of Elmira, passed on
November 16, 2007. Survived by a sister, Patti (Rick) O'Brian, Painted Post;
nephews, Brandon Hodge, USAF Pemberton, NJ, Cale Hodge, Painted Post, and Kevin
(Patti) Borak, Baldwinsville, NY; cousin, Joe Jankowski, Horseheads.
Predeceased by a brother, Ronald J. Borak, June 13, 2007. Robert is a Veteran
of the US Navy, Vietnam, and a member of the VFW and the DWV. Those wishing may
make donations in his name to the Elmira Heights Legion, to the VFW or to a

BORAK Ronald J.
Age 61, of Painted Post, formerly of Elmira, passed on June 13, 2007. Survived
by a son, Kevin (Patti) Borak, Baldwinsville, NY; brother, Robert Borak, Canyon
Country, CA, formerly of Elmira; sister, Patti (Rick) O'Brian, Painted Post;
nephews, Brandon Hodge, USAF, Pemberton, NJ, and Cale Hodge, Painted Post;
cousin, Joe Jankowski, Horseheads. Ron is a veteran US Army Korean War, and a
member of the VFW, Corning, NY. Those wishing may make donations in his name to
the Elmira Heights Legion or to the VFW. The family will receive relatives and
friends at the Kalec Funeral Home on Saturday from 9 – 10 a.m. followed by his

BOSCAINO MARY J. PILLA
Mary J. Age 88, of Elmira, New York, died on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at
Elcor Health Facility. She was born in Elmira, NY on November 11, 1917 to the
late Daniel and Josephine (Bonnelli) Boscaino. Mary was predeceased by her husband,
James Pilla. Survivors include her son, Angelo (Cecile) Pilla of Westfield, NY;
daughter, Sandra Holton of Elmira Heights; grandchildren, Dr. James Pilla of
Erie, PA, and Lynette (Shawn) Matthews of Elmira; great-granddaughters, Jocelyn
and Taylor Matthews of Elmira; sisters, Angeline Stansfield of Elmira Heights
and Josephine (John) White of Millerton, PA; along with several nieces, nephews
and cousins. Mary was a longtime member of St. Anthony's Church and the Sacred
Heart Society. Mary was employed by Moore Business Forms and retired from there
after many years of service. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday,
October 8th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. A prayer
service will take place there on Monday, October 9th, at 9:30 a.m., followed by
a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, with Reverend

Marjorie E. Age 84 of Palm Bay, FL and formerly of Bath and Elmira NY died
Thursday, January 17, 2002 in Palm Bay. Marjorie, daughter of the late Harry
and Anna O'Donnell Bosenbark, was preceded in death by her husband Terrence
McMillen; brother, Harry Bosenbark Jr.; and grandson, Ryan French. She is
survived by daughters, Marianne (Don) Miller of Palm Bay, FL and Peg McMillen
French of Painted Post NY; stepdaughter, Linda (Jim) Negri of Elmira;
sister-in-law, Dixie McMillen of Painted Post; grandchildren, Todd and Randy
Lown of Elmira, Eric and Carrie Miller of Palm Bay. bf Friends are invited to

Mary D. (Bouille) (Mayer) Age 77 of Corning NY died Saturday December 1st, 2001
at the Corning Hospital She is predeceased by her husbands Paul Bouille and
Francis Mayer, her stepson-law William Stilson and a brother, James Miller.
Mary is survived by her husband Francis (Buster) Reep of Corning, her sons Michael
(Carla) Bouille of Big Flats, Charles (Phyllis) Bouille of Panama City, FL, a
daughter Sandy (John) Wardwell of Horseheads. Stepsons Sheldon (Sylvia) Mayer
of Hornby, Lyndon Mayer of Rock Streams, Francis (Debra) Mayer Jr. of Corning
and James Reep of Corning. Stepdaughters: Linda Stilson of AZ, Cheryl (William)
VanGorden of Big Flats, Pam Thompson of Trinity, NC. 24 grandchildren, 25
great-grandchildren as well as many nieces nephews and cousins. Mary was a past
member of the American Legion women's auxiliary Post #1612 and a member of the
Women Of The Moose post #326 Corning chapter, she retired from being self
employed as owner operator of Mayer's Subs. Mary was an avid camper and loved
fishing and spending time outside. Mary also had a special love for Mickey and

BOWELL Evelyn L. Ferraro
Age 85, formerly of Beecher Street Elmira, was born September 3, 1925 in Susquehanna, PA the daughter of the late Frank and Virgie (Barnes) Bowell, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Elcor Health Services in Horseheads, NY. Her loving husband of 50 years, Francis C. "Frank" Ferraro, infant son, Michael, 3 brothers and 1 sister predeceased her. She is survived by her beloved children, Sharon (Robert) Moshey, James (Martha) Ferraro and Carol (James) Keough; grandchildren, Lisa (John) Samples, Tony Ferraro (Kelly Wright), Danielle (Paul) Tomisman, James (Gretchen) Ferraro Jr., Michael Ferraro (Monica Bennett), Jonathan (Tifanie) Keough, Steven Keough (Ashley Wandell) and Lauren (Daniel) Frew; along with several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law. BRADLEY –J.
MARLENE (BRADLEY) LOVELAND, age 81, passed away on Saturday, January 30,
2016 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born on September 9, 1934,
in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Harold and Josephine (Stadelmaier)
Bradley. Marlene was predeceased by her parents; daughter, Patricia
Manwaring; and loving husband of 56 years, George M. Loveland Jr. She is
survived by her beloved children, Michael, Kathleen and Kevin; four
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Carole (Paul) Taladay (Lance
Morgan); along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews
and cousins. Marlene graduated from Southside High School, class of 1952.
She was a certified nurse's aide with the Arnot Ogden Medical Center,
retiring after several years of dedicated service. She was a communicant of
St. Mary's Church and a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Family and friends are invited to gather at St, Mary's Church 224 Franklin
Street, Elmira, NY on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM. Reverend
Robert McNamara will celebrate the Mass with Father John DeSocio as
concelebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery where
Marlene will be laid to rest with her beloved George. Arrangements have been

BRADY - KROOUZE Margaret M.
Age 63, of Elmira NY, died Friday, July 23, 2010 at home surrounded by her
loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Margaret dedicated her
life to her faith, family, and friends. She was a beloved mother, grandmother,
sister, and friend. She has touched many, far and wide, and will be greatly
missed. Margaret was born in Binghamton NY, the daughter of the late Charles
and Rita (Curley) Brady. She was predeceased by her son Patrick T. Kroouze in
1998 and her husband Thomas J. Kroouze in 2000. Margaret is survived by her
daughter and son-in-law, Jane M. and Jason Cruthirds of Fisherville KY; son
David C. Kroouze of Elmira with Rachel Miller; grandsons, Brenten, Carter and
Duncan Cruthirds; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Carol Brady of Elmira,
Richard and Peggy Brady of Dearborn MI; sisters-in-law, Rev. Linda DuBreuil of
New Jersey and Joanne Kalacinski of Levittown PA; and several nieces and
nephews. Margaret was a retired kindergarten teacher with the Elmira Heights
School District. In retirement, Margaret was actively involved with Christ the
Redeemer Parish, Compassionate Friends, and the Elmira Area Retired Teachers
Association. She was a devout Catholic and a dedicated member of Christ the
Redeemer Parish at St. Casimir's. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home,

BRANN Thomas M. Brann
Age 52 of Beecher St., died at home on Saturday, January 1, 2011 after a very brief and unexpected illness. Tom was born in Elmira on April 25, 1958, son of the late Charles "Chuck" F. Brann who passed away on September 24, 1994 and Mary I. (O'Connor) Brann who passed away on May 4, 2010. He is survived by his sister Carol M. Brann of Elmira and several cousins. Tom was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Elmira and St. Bonaventure University, Olean NY. He had worked as an internal auditor for Arnot Ogden Medical Center for a number of years before going to work with New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. He was a tax auditor with the state for 16 years and worked out of the Binghamton office. While working with the state, Tom had been active with his union and for the past several years was a union representative. He had been a lifelong communicant of St. Patrick's Church. Tom had been a long time member of the Elmira Elks Lodge #62. He was an avid sports fan with baseball being his favorite sport. Tom enjoyed his trips to Yankee Stadium and his visits to the Elks or The Old Pioneer to watch and talk sports. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. BRANNAKA John Emerson, Sr.
Age 62 of Lowman, NY. He was born April 28, 1945 in Elmira, son of the late
Emerson and Rose Mary (Recooper) Brannaka and died Sunday, February 17, 2008,
at St. Joseph's Hospital after an extended illness. He was predeceased by his
parents and brother, Thomas Brannaka, and is survived by his wife of 41 years,
Janice (DePaul); children and their spouses, John Emerson, Jr. and Carol
Brannaka of Monterey, NY, Jennifer and Sarah Annlee of Rochester, NY;
grandchildren, Crystal (John) Moran, John Emerson Brannaka III and Jordan
Annlee; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Val Gray; brother, Joseph
Brannaka, all of Elmira; sister-in-law, Anita DePaul of N. Chemung, NY;
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Cheryl DePaul of Elmira; along with
several nieces and nephews. John retired from Sears in 1997 after 30 years of
service. He was a member of the Chemung County Rod & Gun Club and the
Elmira Beagle Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. John and his wife
formerly owned Paradise Park in Reading Center. Family and friends are invited
to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira
on Thursday, February 21st from 4 to 7 p.m. His funeral service will follow at
7 p.m. Deacon George Welch will officiate. Interment will take place in St.
Peter & Paul's Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of

Elmira: Age 80, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Betty was born in Blossburg PA on July 14, 1930, the daughter of the late Dr. Daniel S. and Gladys (Munro) Brazda. She was predeceased by her husband William P. McNamara in 2004. Betty is survived by her children, Steven McNamara of Elmira, Elizabeth McNamara with Steve "Hank" Beggs of Lutz FL, Melissa Johnson with husband Robert of Elmira, and Mary McNamara of Dansville NY. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles "Chuck" and Shirley Brazda of Blossburg; step-grandchildren, Nathan, Felicia, and Jakob Johnson; sister-in-law Ann McNamara of Nesquehoning PA; nieces and nephews, Tina, Cindy and Cathy, Mary Catherine, Thomas, Michael, James, Catherine, Eileen and Fran; and many close friends. She was a graduate of Blossburg High School and later Robert Packer School of Nursing. Betty was a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital, working on Pediatrics, and later was a visiting nurse with the Chemung County Health Department from where she retired. She enjoyed her career in nursing as well as cooking and baking for her family. Betty was a proud member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Joseph is survived by his wife, Winifred Mae (Shelden) Brenzo of Horseheads; sons, Joseph (Mary) Brenzo and Jerry Brenzo both of Horseheads and Jamie Brenzo of Elmira; grandchildren, Octavia Volante' Brenzo, Oriana Anissa Brenzo and D'mitri Brenzo; Melissa Ann Brenzo, Gina Marie Brenzo and his special one, Stephanie Mae Brenzo who will always remember him as her "Poppy"; sister, Carrie Crittenden of Elmira; sister-in-law, Mildred Giammichle of GA; special nephew and friend, Robert "Butch" Dense of Horseheads; along with several nieces and nephews. Joseph was a veteran of the USAF serving during the Korean War. September 12, 2008 following a brief illness. Josephine was born on May 20,

predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Michael V. D'Aloisio, father
and mother-in-law, Americo and Stella D'Aloisio, brothers and sisters-in-law,

was a devoted wife and mother and her greatest loves were her family, her

by her husband, Daniel A. Dean, son, Daniel A. Dean, Jr., 1 brother, and 4

Rosemary is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Robert S.
"Bucky" Lewis; daughter, Theresa M. Portzer of Savannah, GA, with her
husband Jim, and sons, James Robert and Brett Ryan; sister, Dr. Margaret Brown
of Northern Virginia; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Connie and Bill
Buckholtz of Elmira, Betty June Lewis of Elmira Heights; along with 14 nieces
and nephews. She is predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ross,
Sr. and Gertrude Lewis, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Ross Lewis, Jr.,
Gerald and Gladys Lewis. Born in Buffalo, NY, daughter of the late George W.
and Cecelia Dobmeier Brown, Rosemary was raised in Bowmansville, NY, and
attended The Park School in Snyder, NY. She was a graduate of Elmira College,
Class of 1959, with a degree in education. Rosemary began her teaching career
in Alden, NY. She married Bucky in 1961, moved to Elmira, and taught 1st grade
at Pine City School for 5 years. Rosemary was employed by the Elmira City
School District and worked for 30 years as a home tutor. She also taught adult
basic education to developmentally delayed adults for 25 years. Rosemary was
active in the community as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and with the Elmira
Figure Skating Club. A long time communicant of St. Patrick's Church, she
taught Religious Education there for many years. Rosemary enjoyed music,
reading, crossword puzzles and cross-stitching. She and Bucky enjoyed
socializing in Elmira's pubs and restaurants. Together, they enjoyed time spent
at Keuka Lake, drawn back year after year by the beauty of the lake and the
fond memories of where they first met. Rosemary and Bucky also enjoyed
traveling in the northeast and throughout the United States. Rosemary will be
remembered as a caring and generous woman, a devoted wife and loving sister,
mother and grandmother. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral

BRUSSO Harold "Chip"
Age 86 of Elmira, NY. He was born July 1, 1922 in Ontario, NY son of the late
Gustave and Rose (Nervick) Brusso and died Friday, October 17, 2008 at St.
Joseph's Hospital. His family moved to Elmira when he was a young boy.
"Chip", as he was fondly known to family and friends, was a veteran
of WWII having served in the U.S. Air Force. Following the war he returned to
Elmira where he met and married his wonderful wife of 61 years, Lena (Menechella)
Brusso. He was employed by Remington Rand and Hardinge Brothers before retiring
in 1984. Chip was an avid hunter and fisherman and had a passion for gardening.
More than anything else he loved spending time at their cottage on Keuka Lake,
a cottage he, Lena and many family members helped build nearly 60 years ago.
There he enjoyed trout fishing with Lena and his daughter Karen. Evenings at
the lake were for "kicking back" and having a few beers with his
brother-in-law and good friend "Shorty" while they talked about the
old days till wee hours of the morning. Time spent at the lake were the
happiest of his life. During the winter months he enjoyed hunting with his
brothers, his son John and good friend Fred Buckholz. Mr. Brusso is survived by
his loving wife Lena; children John (Diane) Brusso of Wellsburg, NY, JoAnn
(Alan) Hayter of Victor, NY, Carol (Eric) Opitz of Chatham, NY and devoted
daughter Karen Brusso of Elmira, NY. He was the brother of the late Joseph,
Mathias, James, Lawrence, Robert, Marie (Haflett), Anna and Rita Brusso. He is
also survived by two brothers Delbert (Ida) and Gustave (Pat) Brusso all of
Elmira; eight grandchildren, Jeffery, Katie and Tina Hayter, Michele Wasicki,
Theresa Brown, Michael, Marybeth and Andrew Brusso; six great-grandchildren;
sister-in-law Wilda Brusso of Elmira along with several nieces and nephews.
Chip's wife and children would like to extend "special thanks" to his
nieces Kathy Murray and Peggy (Kevin) Seaman and son-in-law Alan for making it
possible for dad to visit Keuka Lake in recent years. Their kindness and
compassion are truly appreciated. We thank our neighbor Mr. Ostrander who
generously gave his time to help on those occasions when dad needed assistance.

a longtime resident of the Bentley Creek, PA community passed away Thur. Feb
27, 2014 at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center following declining health at the age
of 80. Born on Jan. 12, 1934 in Williamsport, PA; he was the son of the
late, Carl & Mary Ann Hofer Buck. George married the love of his life and
best friend, Delores Pavelski Buck, on Sept. 27, 1958 in Jackson, PA; and
she predeceased him on Dec. 24, 2008. He was employed by Penn Yan Express
for many years as a sales manager before opening his own business Twin Tier
Transport Services Inc. which he operated for many years until his
retirement. With strong faith, George was a communicant of St. Anne's
Catholic Church in Bentley Creek for many years. A devoted husband, caring
father, and exceptional provider, George always put his family first.
Surviving are his loving children, LuAnne (Gary) Mikos, Lancaster County,
PA; Colleen Dyer, E. Corning, NY; and George Jr. (Karen) Buck, Big Flats,
NY; seven grandchildren, Christopher and Andrew Buck; Krista and Ken Mikos;

BUCKHOLTZ age 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2016. Bill
was born in Elmira, the son of William and Mary (Cherkis) Buckholtz. He is
predeceased by his daughters, Cindy and Colleen. Bill is survived by his
wife, Constance "Connie" Lewis Buckholtz, with whom he celebrated 61 years
of marriage on June 25; son, Scott W. Buckholtz of Elmira, with Stacie
Armstrong; daughter, Gail A. Hamblin and husband Michael; grandchildren,
Jessica Buckholtz, Jamie (Brenden) Scanlan, Benjamin and Amanda Hamblin;
great-grandchildren, Debron Lee, Charlee and Andy Scanlan; brother Eugene
Buckholtz of Erin, with Ann Madison; brother-in-law, Robert "Bucky" Lewis of
Elmira; sister-in-law, Betty Lewis of Horseheads; along with several nieces
and nephews. Bill was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy, Class of 1951,
where he was inducted in the EFA Sports Hall of Fame. He served in the U S
Army during the Korean War. He remained in the USA, worked as a mechanic and
was a part of the Army basketball team. Bill worked as a pattern maker at
General Electric for 38 years until the plant closed. He then continued his
career at Southern Tier Pattern, retiring at the age of 72. Bill was an avid
hunter and fisherman passing his passion for both onto his son. He and
Connie loved horseracing, enjoying frequent trips to racetracks in
Canandaigua and Saratoga and were lucky enough to attend several Triple
Crown races. Anyone who knew Bill, knows he would have never missed a Friday
evening, where he and Connie could be found enjoying company and laughing
with family and many, many friends. There were great memories made in Chuck
Clark's, Mandel's, Patrick's and Horigan's. Bill always had a full-of-life
attitude and enjoyed entertaining friends either at his house, Buckholtz's
"hunting camp" and enjoyed the company of his buddies at OTB. Bill will
always be remembered by his faith and joy that he spread to those around
him; but most of all, the love he shared with his life-long soulmate and
best friend, his wife Connie. Following a private family viewing, a Mass of
Christian Burial will take place on Monday, July 11, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at
Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Committal prayers and military honors will

Age 93, of Elmira, NY, died on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at the Arnot Ogden
Medical Center. She was born on May 11, 1915 in Elmira, NY to the late Andrew
and Mary Buczkowski. Stella was the last surviving sibling of 13 brothers and
sisters. Survivors include her son, Joseph Bereza of Elmira; daughter, Theresa
Winner of Rock Stream, NY; grandchildren, Joseph R. Bereza, Kimberley Bereza,
Stephen (Lisa) Winner, Kristen (Deb McCaulay) and Amy (Brian) McConnell;
great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Cameron, Benjamin and Henry; along with several
nieces and nephews. Stella was a lifelong member of St. Casimir's Church and
was a member of their Rosary and Sacred Heart Society. She was a great
homemaker and grandma and she left behind many afghans with her grandchildren.

Friday, April 23, 2010 at Bethany Manor Horseheads, NY. She was born on June 6,
1913 in Morris Run, PA to the late Anthony and Margaret Budnick. Fran was
predeceased by her husband Lewis McCann in 1991 and by six brothers, John,
Mike, Tony, Steve, Andy and Frank Budnick; two sisters, Martha Cady and Mary
Heath. Frances is survived by her daughter, Shirley Wilson of Elmira, NY; son,
James L. (Charlene) McCann of Elmira, NY; granddaughters, Mary (Daryl) Mickley
of Millerton, PA; Wendy Colegrove of Athens, PA; a wonderful friend of many
years, Gloria Maxon of Elmira, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. The
family greatly appreciates the care and concern afforded Frances by the

BUELOW -PATRICIA M. 'PATTY' ROBERTS age 60 of
Elmira passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019, at home, surrounded by her
family. She was born May 7, 1959, a daughter of the late Robert Buelow, Sr.
and Carol Sondersted. Patty is also predeceased by her sister Nancy Tice.
She is survived by her four children: Eli Roberts (Bryt Austin), Joseph
Buelow (Amy Vanderhoef), Rachael (Matt) Piecuch, and Ian (McKenzie) Roberts;
grandchildren: Tyler, Abby, Emma, Alex, Isabelle, Evelyn, Avery and Colin;
siblings: Cheryl (Chris) Hildebrand, Karen (Bob) Hannon, Robert (Sue)
Buelow, Jr., and Ron Tice, Jr.; very close friends, Sheri and Steve Leonard;
along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Patty worked for the Elmira
City School District for many years, and most recently worked at Hobby Lobby
where she was the Assistant Manager. Patty will best be remembered as a
devout Catholic and an avid euchre player. She loved the Pittsburgh

Mrs. Louise (Bulas) Formerly of Standish St., Elmira, NY died peacefully
Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility in Elmira.
Louise was born in Hoytville, PA, daughter of the late John and Tekla (Trybwczewski)
Bulas. Louise lived a wonderful life and will always be remembered as a kind
and gentle lady. Survivors include her sons, William C. (Carol) Pfiffer of
Horseheads, NY, Richard (Connie) Pfiffer of Blue Ridge, GA, and John (Sharon
Hallahan) Pfiffer of Las Vegas, NV; special daughter-in-law, Barbara Pfiffer;
13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
Louise was predeceased by her husband, William C. Pfiffer Sr. in 1967;

Peter John Age 22 of Uvalde, TX and formerly of Elmira, died Sunday, August 12,
20001 in Uvalde as the result of a sailplane accident. Peter is survived by his

of Pete's early flying accomplishments was when he won the annual Snowbird
Competitions at Harris Hill. In that event he won for Best Pilot and Best Team.
When Pete took up flying it started a long time flying relationship with his
good friend Elizabeth Schwenkler. Together they competed in many competitions
both in the United States and Europe. Pete was very involved with the Harris
Hill Soaring Club. He was employed by MH Soaring where he worked on repairing
and restoring damaged sailplanes. During his time at Harris Hill, Pete earned
his pilot license and instructor license for sailplanes. After high school Pete
attended Corning Community College. During his first summer break, Peter and
Elizabeth traveled to Germany for international sailplane competition. Shortly
after returning to Corning for his second year of school Pete contracted
encephalitis of the cerebellum and brain stem. He ended up being treated at
Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY before coming home to Elmira for
physical therapy at St. Joseph's Hospital. After six months of illness and
recovery Pete was able to return to Corning Community College where he earned
his Associates Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He and Elizabeth made a
second trip to Europe this time traveling to Holland for another international
competition. Pete then went to Florida and worked his way through flight
school. He earned his single engine, multi engine and commercial pilot licenses
while in Florida. He was also a certified flight instructor of single engine
planes. Peter moved to Texas where he took Citation Training in Dallas to fly
corporate jets. He currently held a position as a pilot with Sierra Industries
in Uvalde, TX. Pete held numerous badges with the Soaring Society of America
for his sailplane flights. His Silver Badge was for a fifty-mile flight that
included an altitude gain of over 3000 feet and the flight lasted for over 5
hours. He had just completed his Gold Badge flight of 186 miles and was landing

Dorothy was born in Bath NY, a daughter of the late Herbert and Alice (Stopka) Burgess. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by sister, Connie Scotchmer and "Mini", her Yorkshire Maltese. Dorothy is survived by her loving companion of 40 years, John J. Flanagan; son and daughter-in-law, Richard A. and Brenda Pulver of Shortsville NY; daughter, Sandra J. STEVEN E. BURGEY
age 59, passed away peacefully at his Able 2 home on Ithaca Road in
Horseheads on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. Steve was born in Elmira, a son
of the late William and Marion (Gerrity) Burgey. He is survived by his
sister and brother-in-law, Annette and Jack Bjorvand of Kristiansand Norway;
brothers and sister-in-law, Michael and Diann Burgey of Elmira, Joseph
Burgey of Easton PA and Timothy Burgey of Caton, NY; also several nieces and
nephews. Steve lived the first 47 years of his life at home with his family.
Since 2005 he has been a part of the Able 2 family, first at their West
Second Street home in Elmira and then to the Ithaca Road home in Horseheads.
Steve was a Boy Scout in his younger years. He loved sports, was an avid
bowler, enjoyed shooting baskets, riding horses and attending Elmira Jackals
hockey games. Steve was known for his great imitation of the Incredible
Hulk. He loved to give hugs and could put a smile on anyone's face. Family

Mrs. John Lundergan died unexpectedly last night at 7:45
o'clock at the family home, 963 North Main street, following an apoplectic
seizure. Mrs. Lundergan had visited her mother, Mrs. Margaret Burns at 523
Logan street yesterday afternoon and returned to her home about 5 o'clock. She
prepared the supper and when her husband returned to the home at 5:45 p.m., he
found Mrs. Lundergan lying in an unconscious condition on the floor of the
kitchen. Dr. Walter Byrne and William Cain were summoned and applied remedies
but death resulted at 7:45 p.m. without the stricken woman regaining
consciousness.
Mrs. Lundergan was born in Elmira and had passed her
entire life here. She is survived by her husband, John Lundergan, a well known
Lackawanna switchman; her mother, Mrs. Margaret Burns, who has been seriously
ill several months; three brothers, Michael of Chicago; Peter of Portage, Wis.,
and James of this city. The funeral will be held at the home Wednesday at 8
a.m. and at the St. Patrick Church at 9 o'clock. Burial in the SS Peter and
Paul cemetery."

A longtime resident of Elmira died peacefully, Saturday, January 31, 2009 at
his Southside home at the age of 76. Born in Corning on January 27, 1933, Don
was the son of the late William & Emma Nares Burris. He married Marilyn
Maier on June 30, 1956. Together they shared a lifetime of happy memories. Don
is remembered by his family and many friends for his loving and welcoming
smile. He was employed by the Elmira City School District as a custodian for 23
years until his retirement. Very civic minded he was active in Scouting. A
devoted communicant of St. Mary's Church, Don was a member of the Nocturnal
Adoration Society, St. Mary's Choir and was a Eucharistic Minister. Surviving
is his loving family, wife and companion, Marilyn Maier Burris; their sons,
Donald V. (Bridget) Burris, Buffalo, NY; and Kevin (fiancée, Kay Collum)
Burris; grandsons, Matthew, John, Luke, Christopher, Joshua and Ben Burris;

home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Maxine

BURROUGHS William E.
Age 80 of West Elmira, NY, died peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2008, at
home after an extended illness with cancer. Bill was born October 21, 1928 in
Piper City, IL, son of the late William and Agnes Burroughs. He was also
predececeased by his loving daughter, Susan Jane Cesari (2002); sister, Shirley
Bagby; and brother, Kaywin Burroughs, both of Peoria, IL. He is survived by his
loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Maxine Roberts Burroughs; son, William E.
Burroughs IV and daughter-in-law Chloe Stannard of Colorado Springs, CO; along
with three daughters, Rebecca, Brianna, and Alyssa. He is also survived by his
caring son-in-law, Andrew P. Cesari DDS of Elmira, along with his three
children, Michael, and Anthony of NYC and Gina of Chicago, IL. Bill is also survived
by sister, Arlene Rustman of Pekin, IL; and special friends Dick and Virginia
Horchler of Seven Lakes, NC. Bill graduated from Bradley University in Peoria,
IL in 1953 with a degree in Business Administration and received an ROTC
commission in the US Air Force, where he served two years active duty in
Germany and four years in the reserve. Following in a family tradition at the
age of 18, Bill began a 40-year career in the Railroad Industry, retiring in
1987 as District Sales Manager for Con Rail. He loved the railroad business.
Bill was a longtime member of North Presbyterian Church serving on numerous
committees and was instrumental in founding the Men's Breakfast Group and for
many years provided the inspiration for their discussions. After retiring, Bill
became an active member of The Elmira Kiwanis Club; and, being an outdoorsman,
loved the natural beauty of the Twin Tiers, enjoying golfing, hunting, fishing,
and working in his garden. In addition, Bill spent many hours reading. Family
and friends will be received at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050
Pennsylvania Avenue, Southport/Elmira on Saturday, November 29, 2008, from 2:00
to 5:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 30, at 2:00
p.m. in the North Presbyterian Church, 921 College Avenue, Elmira, NY. Reverend
Gary Chorpenning will officiate. A private burial will take place later in St.

HANNAH LYNN BURT
age 4, became one of God's angels on Sunday, December 21, 2014. Hannah was
born August 1, 2010 the daughter of Tina Lynn Cassada and Michael W. Burt.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her sisters, Aleah and Kylie;
maternal grandmother Patricia "Mimi" Cassada of Alpine NY; paternal
grandparents, Jeanette "Grammy" and John "Pa" Pallone of Lowman and Ron and
Brenda Burt of North Carolina; great-grandmother Dorothy "Memaw" Park of
Horseheads; uncles and aunts, Marc and Valarie Cassada, Kevin and Meganne
Cunningham, Mark and Kim Cunningham; along with several cousins, great aunts
and great uncles. Hannah is predeceased by her grandfather David Cassada.
Hannah was diagnosed with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy at the age of 18
months. It is a rare genetic disease that when contracted in early childhood
is usually fatal by age 5. Those wishing may remember Hannah with a donation

Horseheads: Age 81, died Friday, June 14, 2013, at her home, with her family by her side. Katrina was born February 17, 1932, in Elmira, a daughter of Regina (Nicholson) and Thomas Bush. She is predeceased by her husband John R. Sekella, son Thomas Sekella, great-granddaughter Katherine May Sickelco, twin sister, Sister Regina Bush Campion, SSJ, and brother, Father Justice "Jack" Bush. Katrina is survived by her children, with their spouses, Deborah and Samual Perkins, Kettering OH, Mary and Richard Schrock, Horseheads, Stephen Sekella, Horseheads; daughter-in-law Katina Sekella, Rochester NY; grandchildren, Tracy (Alex) Gerken, Kelly (Justin) Heil, Christina (Jeff) Sickelco, Tatiana (Jesse) Cross, Ryan Schrock, Jordan Schrock; 6 great-grandchildren and special friend Robert Koening, Horseheads. Katrina enjoyed playing the piano. She liked the serenity of being outdoors, observing all that nature has to offer. BUTTERS, age 85 of Elmira, NY. He was born May 8, 1929 in E. Smithfield,
PA, son of the late Clarence and Bessie (Mitchell) Butters and passed away
Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility in the arms of
his loving daughters. He was predeceased by his stepmother; Elizabeth
Butters, brothers; Buck Mitchell, Donald and Howard Butters, and sister;
Marian Corneby and is survived by his daughters Deborah Lord of Windsor, CT,
Cynthia (Ed) Rittenhouse of Pine City and Pamela Butters of Elmira;
grandchildren Jared Verity and Chad Rittenhouse both of Elmira, Aaron Lord
of Phoenix, AZ, Brian Lord of Windsor, CT, Beth Butters of Bath and Joshua
Radford of Elmira; 4 great grandchildren; brother and sisters-in-law William
and Lois Butters of Athens, PA, Julia Butters of Elmira and Marian Mitchell
of E. Smithfield, PA along with several nieces and nephews. Jerry retired
from the Elmira City School District and then owned and operated The House
Doctor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII and the Korean
Conflict. He enjoyed Elmira Pioneer baseball games and was a member of the

ROBERT E. BUTTS
of Elmira: passed away on June 30, 2015 after a courageous battle with
leukemia and kidney failure. Bob was born on September 19, 1938 to the late
James and Frances Butts. He is also predeceased by his first wife, Marion
(Schutt) Fields and their infant daughter Yvonne, and his in-laws Tom and
Mary Maycumber. On May 28, 1973 Bob married Patricia Maycumber at St.
Anthony's Church and together they celebrated 42 years of a wonderful
married life. Bob is survived by his best friend, and wife, Pat; cherished
"son" George (Becky) Fields III; cherished "grandson" George Fields IV;
cherished "granddaughter" Roberta Fields; siblings, Richard (Rosemary)
Butts, Marion Butts Ward and Carolann Butts Quick; along with many cousins,
nieces, nephews and friends. Bob was a veteran of the U S Air Force serving
during the Cold War, 1955-1959. He was a retiree of Westinghouse with over
30 years of service. In 1961 Bob joined the Fraternal Order of Eagles and
locally was a President and Trustee of F.O.E. #941, and a President and
Eastern Regional President of New York State F.O.E. Bob was also a member of
Elmira Elks Lodge #62. Bob loved life and lived it to the fullest. He
enjoyed exercising daily on his treadmill, his computer and most of all
golfing with his buddies in the Tuesday Morning Golf League at Mark Twain
Golf Course. He enjoyed the trips he and Pat took to Florida, Las Vegas and
the F.O.E. conventions. Bob was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church where
he worked the yearly bazaar. He then went to St. Patrick's Church and
finally St. Mary's Church, Southside. Calling hours will be at McInerny
Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 5:00
p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Bob on
Tuesday, July 7, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Southside.
Interment, with committal prayers and military honors, will follow at St.

and French, graduating Phi Beta Kappa in 1947. Her yearbook caption reads,
"'Bernie'…genuine…depth and understanding …independent…editorial
efficiency…gay laughter …mathematician". She taught business subjects such
as law and accounting for many years at the Elmira Free Academy. She was
passionately concerned about her students and about preparing them for the
future. She was a devoted and beloved daughter, sister and aunt. She cherished
her many cousins, friends and classmates. After she retired from teaching, she
