They attended church together and engaged in "trade" or business. All people are listed in alphabetic order by surname at BIRTH. JACKSON - SWEET Hazel Rose Jackson
Age 86 of Appleridge at Bethany Village died on Tuesday December 16, 2008 at
Bethany Manor in Horseheads, NY. Mrs. Sweet is survived by her husband of 65
years Roland J.Sweet; children: Pauline Geary of Oak Park, IL and Franklin
Sweet of Syracuse, NY; grandchildren: Richard (Bobbi) Geary, Monica Geary,
Nathan (Renee) Sweet, and Franklin Sweet II; great grandson Owen Sweet along
with several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sweet was a retired cafeteria manager
from the Horseheads School System. Mrs. Sweet's family wishes to thank the
staff and friends at Appleridge and Bethany Village for providing her with the
quality of life she enjoyed for the past few years. Relatives and friends are
invited to call at The Lynch Funeral Home 318 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY Friday
December 19, 2008 from 1-3 PM. A funeral service will be held following
visitation at 3 PM. Interment at Maple Grove Cemetery Horseheads, NY at the

JACKSON Marjorie H. (Jackson) Fairbrother
Age 97, and formerly of Wisteria Way in Horseheads, died after an extended illness on June 29, 2011 at the Manor at Bethany Village. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, William Fairbrother on Oct. 12, 2004. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine (Ray) West of Big Flats, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Edward (Mary Lee) Fairbrother also of Big Flats, NY; grandchildren, Annette West (Blaine) Grindle of Rochester, NY, Jeffrey West of Big Flats, NY, William (Tina) West of Campbell, NY, Elizabeth Fairbrother (Rick) Presley of Lewisville, TX, Michelle Fairbrother of Rutland, VT, and Edward A. (Erin) Fairbrother II of Big Flats, NY; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Bryan Grindle of Rochester, NY, Jeffrey West of Big Flats, Heather West of Washington, DC and Zachary, Matthew, and Adam Presley of Lewisville, TX, Ava and Carder Fairbrother of Big Flats, NY; sister, Lolita Eveland of Rochester, NY. Marjorie was born in Cohocton, NY, on April 20, 1914 to Bessie and Fay (Totton) Jackson. She married William Fairbrother October 17, 1934 in Wallace, NY. Marjorie and her husband were longtime members of the First Presbyterian Church of Horseheads. She was retired from the Horseheads Central School District having taught 1st grade. JEFFREY SCOTT
JACOBUS, 46, of Goose Creek, SC passed away December 19, 2014. Born in
Elmira, NY, he was the son of Scott Jacobus and the late Debra Jacobus.
Jeffrey helped his father run Jacobus Furniture and Millwork and was a
Superintendant with CSG and Complete Building Company, Charleston, SC. Mr.
Jacobus started his own business, Manicured Lawns, which he ran with his
son. He loved spending time with his children and family. Jeffrey enjoyed
hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He is survived by his two children,
Alex Jacobus and Samantha Jacobus of Goose Creek, SC; father, Scott Jacobus
and wife Laura of Erin, NY; brother, Jay Jacobus and wife Caroline of Vernon
Center, NY; sister, Jennifer Rogan and husband Tom of Horseheads, NY.
Jeffrey is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Patrice and Jacob
Jacobus, Tyler and Madeson Rogan. The entire family would like to extend a
very gracious thank you to Jim and Judy Donahue of Marietta, GA and Loretta
Clayton of Goose Creek, SC for providing tremendous support during this
difficult time. A special thank you is offered to the staff of Cancer
Treatment Center of Newnan GA for providing their excellent care and

JAMIESON Allen W.
Instrumental Music Teacher - Age 91, of Horseheads, NY, died following a long
illness on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Elcor Health Services, Horseheads, NY.
Allen was born in Walton, NY on July 11, 1917, the son of the late Orley and
Evelyn Wheat Jamieson. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Anne
Jamieson of Horseheads, NY; daughters, Mary van Holsteyn of Cairo, NY, Judy
(Wayne) Mercer of Horseheads, NY, and Bonnie (Vince) Silsbee of Horseheads, NY;
sons, Richard (Kathy) Jamieson of Horseheads, NY and John (Dianne) Jamieson of
Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren, Rita Alexander, Gerry and Joe van Holsteyn,
Valerie Mis and Heather Mercer, Michael and Brian Silsbee, Laura Santa Maria,
Julie and Katie Jamieson, Maureen and Kelly Jamieson; also nine
great-grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews; his brother, Arthur
Jamieson predeceased him. Allen was a United States Army Veteran of WWII having
served with the 98th Division Infantry. He was a charter member of the
Worcester New York American Legion Post #1584. Allen was an Instrumental Music
Teacher, having taught from 1946 to 1967 in Worcester, NY and then came to the
Elmira City School District where he taught for 9 years at both Pine City
Elementary and Beecher School. For 25 years Allen was the head of the Elmirians
Music Group. He was also very active in the Worcester and the Riverside
Methodist Churches. The family will receive friends at the Olthof Funeral Home,
Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira/Southport, NY on Sunday, June 28, 2009,
from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Funeral Service there Monday at
11:00 a.m., followed by graveside prayers at Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads,

JAMISON - DECKER, Blanche Jamison Berghuis
died she loved on June 11, 2008. She was born in Bloom, S.D. on November 13,
1914. She spent most of her life in Minnesota. She moved to Elmira, NY in 1962
and became Pastor of Sullivan Street Mission and served there for 26 years.
Predeceased by her husbands, Lester Berghuis and Benjamin Decker; also eight
brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Harold) Harding
of Bloomsburg; and grandchildren, Randy (Chris) Harding of Albany, NY, Kevin
(Vickie) Harding of Nescopeck, PA, Sharon (John) Kolenda of Bloomsburg, PA; 11
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Olive Miller of Minneapolis, MN, and Mabel
June of Orlando, FL. A graveside service will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery,
Horseheads on Monday, June 16th, at 1 p.m.

JOHN F. JANOWSKY died this morning (May 20, 1921) at 1:40 o’clock at the family home in the Town of Big Flats aged seventy-five years. He is survived by his widow, two sons, Edward and Daniel; four daughters, Mrs. Hulda VanOrder, Mrs. Amelia Miller, the Misses Olive and Flora Janowsky at home; eight grandchildren; a brother, William Janowsky of Elmira. Gloria (Jarry) Age 78, of Campbell, NY, died Saturday, January 7, 2006, at the Arnot
Ogden Hospital. She was born in Elmira, NY, July 24, 1927. She was preceded in
death by her mother, Martha Terwilliger; and father, Arthur Van Keuren. She is
survived by aunts, Mary Dunton of Elmira, NY, and Bernadette Van Ben Coten,
Horseheads, NY; cousins, Jerry Stump and Jan Lewis of Lakeland, FL; also
special friends, Beverly Martin, Montour Falls, Sandy Gardiner, Campbell, NY,

JAYNES Danny S.
Age 50 of Breesport, NY died peacefully on Sunday August 9, 2009 at home
surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Danny
was born August 14, 1958 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Robert Fuller Jaynes
and Virginia L. Brown "Ginny" Jaynes. Danny was a Supervisor for The
Pike Company of Rochester, NY prior to his illness. Danny was an avid race car
fan helping build race cars and go-karts with his brothers and nephews. He also
was a New York Giants fan looking forward to the upcoming season. Danny loved
his family and friends and always put them first. Danny is survived by his
brothers and sisters-in-law: Larry & Mary Jaynes, Stephen Jaynes of
Horseheads, NY, Bobby (Tammy) Jaynes all of Horseheads, NY; Dave & Kathy
Jaynes of Big Flats, NY, Bruce & Debbie Jaynes and Jeff (Shelly) Jaynes all

–SYLVIA ELIZABETH HOLLENBECK of Erin passed away after a courageous battle
with cancer on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the age of 67. Sylvia was born,
April 12, 1948 in Elmira, NY, a daughter to the late Clifford and Elizabeth
Goldsmith Jelliff. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Donald
R. Hollenbeck; her children, Rebecca (Michael) McNamara and their daughters,
Brittany and Courtney, Shannon (Clifford) Kent and three children, Michael,
Tawni Shae and Dakota, Ian (Diane) Hollenbeck and daughter Maggie;
great-grandchildren, Bentley, Emma Leigh, Liam and Benjamin; her loving
four-legged companion, Paddie Cake and a host of friends. She was very
creative and loved her craft projects, gardening and an abundance of
wildlife that she attracted to her home. She also enjoyed and always looked
forward to touring on their motorcycle and attending motor sport races.
Sylvia was also very active in her church and her community. She is already
missed by all that knew and loved her. The family will welcome relatives and
friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13,
Horseheads, NY on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 4PM-7PM with her Funeral
Service to follow. She will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery at the

JESSICK Thomas L.
Age 80, of Horseheads, NY. He was born June 9, 1928 in Elmira, son of the late
Louis and Frances (Drabinski) Jessick and died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at the
Chemung County Nursing Facility. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years,
Theresa (Eddy) Jessick; son, Thomas M. Jessick of Rochester, NY; daughter and
son-in-law, Debra M. and Stephen Cembrinski of Cooperstown, NY; grandchildren,
Stephen and Ryan Cembrinski, Marissa, Travis and Devon Jessick; brother, Paul
Jessick and sister-in-law, Shirley Cardone, both of Elmira. Mr. Jessick retired
from Westinghouse Corp. after 35 years of service. He was a member of the
Chemung County Rod & Gun Club and was an avid bowler, fisherman and hunter.
There will be no calling hours. Private funeral services with interment in
Maple Grove Cemetery will take place at the convenience of his family. Walter

JESSUP, Elsie - Mrs. Willis Jessup Van Houten, 66, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1936, at the family home Cayutaville, after an extended illness. She is survived by her husband, Willis J. Van Houten, seven daughters, Mrs. Mildred Weaver and Mrs. Rosemond Halpin of Elmira, Mrs. Nellie Gerow, Big Flats; Mrs. Roy Thatcher at home; Mrs. Hazel Hopkins, Rochester; Misses Gertrude and Helen Van Houten at home; three sons, Harold of Van Etten; Stanley of Elmira; Willis at home; three sisters, Miss Jennie Jessup of Elmira, Mrs. Maude Kimball of Veteran; Mrs. Mary Jennings of Elmira; two brothers W. L. Jessup of Horseheads, B. C. Jessup of Corning, several grandchildren. Mrs. Van Houten passed the greater part of her life in Sullivanville. The body is in the Barber funeral home, Horseheads. He is survived by his widow, two sons, DeForest and William; four daughters, Jennie of Elmira, Mrs. Willison VanHoughton, Sullivanville, Mrs. Henry Jennings, Elmira; Mrs. Fran Kimball of Veteran; also a sister, Susan Starr of Newfield. JEZORSKI - CARMON, Rosemary L.
Age 83, of Horseheads, NY, died on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at St. Joseph's
Hospital. She was born on February 12, 1925 in Elmira, NY to the late Michael
and Jenny Jezorski. Rosemary was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence, in 1995;
and seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include her son, David (Ann O'Bryan)
Carmon of VA; daughters, Mary (Robert) Sutton of Wayne, NY, and Patricia Decker
of Bath, NY; grandson, Christopher (Amy) Carmon of VA; great-grandchildren,
Antwon and Johnathon Carmon, both of VA; several nieces and nephews; and close
friend, Judy (Ronald) Frycek of Horseheads. Rosemary was a longtime member of
Sts. Peter & Paul Church. She was an avid reader and was a longtime
supporter of the Humane Society and other charities. Family and friends are
invited to call on Tuesday, February 3rd, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
James D. Barrett Funeral Home. A Prayer Service will take place there on Wednesday,
February 4th, at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in
Sts. Peter & Paul Church, with Father Walter Wainwright as celebrant.

JIVIDEN John R. Sr. Age 81, of Briarcliff Dr., Horseheads, went home to be with the Lord on Thurs., Apr. 6, 2006, surrounded by his beloved family. John was born July 27, 1924 in Glasgow, WV, the son of the late Jonah and Freda (Snead) Jividen and was predeceased by his brother, James Jividen; and sister, Mercedes Wheeler. He is survived by his loving wife, Pauline M. (Speen); their seven wonderful children with their families, sons, Reggie Jividen of Elmira, Gary (Carol) Jividen of Wellsburg, NY, John (Kathy) Jividen Jr. of Montour Falls, NY, William Jividen of Elmira, NY, Larry (Kimberly) Jividen of Painted Post, NY, Guy (Cynthia) Jividen of Big Flats, NY, daughter, Diane Jividen of Chattanooga, TN; daughter-in-law, Marcia Jividen; grandchildren, Richard, Ronald and Angela Jividen, Chad and Lisa Jividen, Christina (Carlos) Williams and Michael Jividen, Seth Jividen, Bryan, Jennifer and Jessica Jividen; Sam, Justine and Nicholas Jividen; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Jividen; and sister, Mary Kane; sisters-in-law, Helen Manwaring, Ann Baty and Gladys Speen; and brother-in-law, Alex Speen; along with several nieces and nephews. John was a devoted husband and father who filled his life with love and dedication to his family. John was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Marine Corps. He retired as a production Superintendent having worked at Thatcher Glass for over 35 years and Anchor Glass for over 10 years. He attended the Elmira Christian Center and was also a member of the Elmira Heights American Legion, Horseheads Elks, past member of Elmira Heights Lodge F. & A.M. and a dedicated NY Yankee fan. Age 57 of Painted Post died after a long battle with his health on Sunday September 29, 2013 at Highland Hospital in Rochester. Larry was born in Elmira to John and Pauline (Speen) Jividen on November 5, 1956. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly (Ruble) Jividen; his children, Bryan Jividen, Jennifer Jividen and Jessica (Dale) Samuelson all of Corning, NY; grandchildren, Jayden, Donavon and Andre; Kiana and Keegan; mother, Pauline Jividen of Horseheads; brothers and sisters, Reggie (Jeanne) Jividen of Elmira, Gary (Carol) Jividen of Wellsburg, John (Kathy) Jividen Jr. of Montour Falls, William Jividen of Elmira, Guy (Cynthia) Jividen of Big Flats, Diane Jividen of Chattanooga, TN; and sister-in-law, Marcia Jividen of Lowman; In-laws, Leonard and Dougie Ruble; brothers-in-law, Timothy (Janice) Ruble of Caton and Chip (Mary) Ruble of Kentucky; and several other family members and friends, too numerous to mention. Larry was predeceased by his father. Larry was a retired corrections officer with 29 years of service working at Monterey S.I.C.F. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and boating. Larry was a family man who also loved to travel. Above all he loved the time and precious moments spent with family and friends. Larry loved building and creating things, he was a general handy man and self-made craftsman with a big heart and a lending hand to anyone who needed it. –AUDREY C. JOHNSON age 82 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Wednesday
November 11, 2015 at The Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. Audrey
was born August 6, 1933 in Punxsutawney, PA the daughter of the late Albert
and Dorothy Boozer Johnson. She married her husband, Edward W. Johnson Sr.,
on March 14, 1953 and he pre-deceased her on October 25, 2010. Audrey was an
Employee Benefits Specialist for Corning Inc. in Corning, New York for
several years. She and her husband were very involved with The Corning Elks
Club for many years and traveled extensively. Audrey loved her family and
friends and treasured the time she spent with them. Mrs. Johnson is survived
by her children Edward W. & Jenny Johnson Jr. of Cedar Point, Illinois,
Richard Johnson of Andover, NY, Nancy Peterson of Wilkes Barre, PA, and
Timothy Johnson of Horseheads, NY; eight grandchildren and six great
grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law: Richard & Carol Johnson of Big
Flats, NY; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Arnold & Vonette Fairbanks of
Punxsutawney, PA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring
friends including her closest and dearest friend Mary-Ellen Baravalle and
her caregiver Tracy Kent. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the

Mrs. Johnson's Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling

Age 80, of Meyers Dr. in Horseheads, died after a brief illness Wed., Dec. 10,
2008, at Elcor Health Services Center. Delores was born Oct. 26, 1928 in
Elmira, NY, the daughter to the late Frances Gustin Sr. and Aletha Johnson. She
is survived by her husband, Chester Layton, Gary Layton of Millport, NY, Teresa
(Earl) Pesesky of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Peter and Thomas Quattrini,
Donald (Mia) Ochab; great-grandchildren, Mykala, Vana, Brandon, Aria, Colin,
Austin, Kylie, Joey, and Saige; sister, Dona (Carl) Davis of Clearwater, FL;
brother, Robert (Gutrin) Gustin, San Antonio, TX. She was also predeceased by a
daughter, Sharon Ochab; sisters, Arlene and Dorothy; brothers, Frances Jr.,
William and Ronald. She is also survived be devoted K-9 beagle,
"Molly". Delores was a member of Elmwood Baptist Church. Along with
her husband, always enjoyed traveling, camping and cooking. Several years ago
she also worked as an aide at Elcor Heath Services. Family and friends are

Elizabeth (Johnson) VanGorder, Loving wife, mother and grandmother age 74, of
Elmira Heights, NY, died on December 14, 2001 at her home with her loving
family at her side. Betty was born in Austinburg, PA (Tioga County) on November
5, 1927, the daughter of Harold & Lula (Sherwood) Johnson. She graduated
from Elmira College in 1947 and the Arnot Ogden School of Medical Technology in
1948. She worked at Westinghouse, The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company
and The Arnot Ogden Medical Center before retiring in 1997. Betty enjoyed
gardening, sewing, traveling with her husband, relaxing with her dog Cassidy,
and spending time with her grandchildren. She cherished the time she spent with
her family; even through her illness, her main concern was for them. She was a committed
Christian dedicated to her Lord and her church. Her survivors include her
loving husband of 26 years, Ernest H. Plaisted; daughters, Sandra Cloke.

JONES Kenneth E. "Poppy" A loving tribute written by the family of Kenneth E. Jones of Clifton Park, NY and formerly Cedar Street, Elmira, NY went to be with his loving Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, February 25, 2007, at the age of 80 with his loving family by his side. Born in Johnson City, NY on December 17, 1926, Kenneth was the son of Byron & Mary Gee Jones. Married to Gloria Neily in 1950, they were to celebrate 57 years of companionship on April 14 of this year. Kenneth worked for Hardinge Brothers, Inc. in Elmira for 35 years. Ken was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Rexford, N.Y. and previously at Calvary Baptist Church in Horseheads, NY. He served his country in the United States Army from 1945-1946. He received the WW II Victory Medallion. Ken was a very loving, hard working and supportive family man who took wonderful care of his wife and children. He had the exceptional ability to know how to fix most anything and greatly enjoyed freely sharing this gift with his friends and family. All who knew Ken "Poppy" enjoyed his grin, his whistle, his quiet, humble demeanor. His constant loving, supportive spirit will be missed by all he loved and all who loved him. Age 39, of Elmira, NY, died Wednesday, October 12th, 2011, at home surrounded by the love of her family. Age 70 of Horseheads, NY died on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at the Arnot Ogden
Medical Center in Elmira, NY. Mrs. Van Duzer was born in Elmira, NY on December
31, 1937, the daughter of the late George and Mary Wojtyna Kakritz. Mrs. Van
Duzer was a Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner at the Arnot Ogden

graduate of the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Jean married her husband, Lewis
Sayre Van Duzer on October 17, 1964 and they would have celebrated their 44th

–ANNA T. BRIGGS age 92 of Wygant Rd. in Horseheads passed way Fri Oct. 9,
2015. Anna was born in Elmira, NY Jan. 6, 2015 to Frederick and Frieda
(Mathew) Kakritz. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert D. Briggs,
Sisters, Dorothy Spoore, Bernice Weston, Florence Kirkpatrick and brother,
Charles Kakritz. She is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law,
Roger and Joy Briggs, Tom and Anne Briggs, Don Dix. Also surviving are
several extended family members and many nieces nephews and close friends.
Ann was a lifelong resident of Chemung County. Attended St. Cecelia's, St.
Peter & Paul's Church and more recently St. Patrick's Church. She retired as
an executive secretary for Thatcher Glass in Elmira. Ann was also a Big
Flats Red Hatter, volunteered at Ridge Rd. School assisting the kindergarten
class with reading. She was also a member of the Women of the Elks. Family

K. MACE of Elmira Heights passed away unexpectedly at home after a
courageous battle with cancer on Thursday morning, October 20, 2016. Jean
was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Robert "Doug" Mace, in
2015. Jean is survived by her loving family, sons, Craig Mace and Scott Mace
and granddaughter, Kendra Mace, all of Elmira Heights, NY; brother, Richard
Kankus; sisters-in-law, Maddy Kankus and Peg Kankus; and several nieces and
nephews. She was born in Dunmore, PA, to the late Michael and Leona
(Pierson) Kankus. Jean was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and active
in Classy Lassies. She was an active book reader and enjoyed needle work.
She was also a long time member and communicant of St. Matthew's Episcopal

Age 86 of Horseheads, NY died on Tuesday October 9, 2007. Betty was born on
July 8, 1921 in Norway Ridge, PA the daughter of the late Fred Minor and Esther
Inez Vanderpoel Keener. She was a Secretary in the Physical Therapy Dept at the
Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. Mrs. Cortright was a member of the
Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Elmira, NY. One of the things that Betty
loved most was camping. She was pre-deceased by her parents; brothers: Fred
Robert Keener, Judson C. Keener and Eugene Stanley Keener. Mrs. Cortright is

Age 83 of Elmira, NY died on Thursday September 13, 2007 at St. Joseph's
Hospital in Elmira, NY. Eugene was born May 22, 1924 in Elmira, NY the son of
the late Fred Minor Keener and Esther Inez Vanderpoel Keener. Gene was also
pre-deceased by his brothers Fred Robert Keener and Judson C. Keener. He was a
Veteran of WW II serving his country with The US Army Air Corps attaining the
rank of Tech Sergeant. Gene was a retired Passenger Ticket Agent for the Erie
Railroad in Elmira, NY. He was also a terminal manager for Hall's Trucking in
Elmira, NY and worked at Southern Tier Hide and Tallow. Mr. Keener is survived
by his sister: Betty K. Cortright of Horseheads NY; several nieces, nephews,
grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. Relatives

Bill Kehoe, 83, left us to join his loved ones in Heaven the morning of
11/14/09. He passed quietly and comfortably in his home with his family in Ft.
Worth, Texas. He was predeceased by his first wife, Martha Butray Kehoe;
brothers, Richard, John, and Thomas; sister, Helen Brinkman; and his recently
deceased wife of 12 years, Imogene Judge Kehoe. He is survived by his stepson
and daughter-in-law, Craig and Terry Judge; step daughter, Jodelle Judge; step
grandsons, Cory and Trevor Judge; and his many nieces and nephews in the
Atkinson, Rodzai, Balash, Augustine, Butray and Matteson families. Bill was a
retired NYS Corrections Sergeant and a veteran of the Coast Guard serving
during WWII. He was a lifetime resident of the Southern Tier and retired to
Florida with Jean until 2004 when they moved to Ft Worth to be close to their
family. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY at a date to

KEISTER of Horseheads, NY passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015.
Cecil was born on November 22, 1928, a son of the late Ried and Alice
Pollock Keister and step father Cecil Baumgartner. Cecil served his country
honorably with the Army Air Force during WWII. He retired after 30 years of
service as a truck driver for Berman's Motor Express. Cecil was a premier
stock-car driver in the 1950's in the southern tier racing circuit. He is
also predeceased by his siblings; sisters, Mary "Pat" Andrews, Mabel
Forrest, Flossie Huffner, and brother, Lester Keister. Cecil is survived by
his former spouse and good friend, Betty Keister of Horseheads, NY;

home. Mrs. Huffner was born February 20, 1933 in Beavertown, Pennsylvania the daughter
of the late Reid and Alice Pollock Keister. Flossie was raised by her mother
and step-father Alice and Cecil Baumgartner. Flossie married her husband,
Douglas E. Huffner, who pre-deceased her on May 31, 1984. She was also

Lester Keister. Flossie loved her family and friends and treasured the time she

ERNEST G. KELLEY, "Grandpa" age 85 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Thursday October 2, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Ernie was born March 21,1929 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Ernest Ora Kelley and Vera Mae Miller Kelley. He was a graduate of Southside High School Class of 1946. Ernie was a Veteran of World War II serving his country with The U.S. ARMY during Post War Occupation in Italy. He married his wife, Amelia Adelaide "Addie" Hennigan Kelley, on December 26, 1948 and they would have celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary on December 26, 2014. Ernie was a graduate of Alfred Ag & Tech and worked for National Homes, Millbrook Bread Company, and Rotary Gas Company prior to beginning his career with The U.S. Post Office in Horseheads, NY. He was a retired letter carrier who always had a smile everyday he worked. Ernie was a member of The Bentley-Trumble American Legion Post # 442 where he ran Bingo for over 30 years. He served on The Board of Directors for Horseheads Babe Ruth, delivered for Meals On Wheels with his wife Addie for several years, was a member of The Horseheads Old Oak Lodge # 364 F.&A.M., an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards and bowling. Mr. Kelley and his wife Addie were long-time members of The First Presbyterian Church of Horseheads. As a former wrestler himself in both high school and The U.S. Army Ernie was an avid fan of High School Wrestling and attended matches all over New York State as well as State Meets. He loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them and especially enjoyed PBA outings and playing poker. DEAN S. KELLY,
age 93 of Horseheads, NY, and a resident of the Manor at Bethany Village
passed away peacefully surrounded by his daughters on December 7, 2016. Dean
was born on May 25, 1923, in Leroy, PA. He was one of 10 children of the
late Servellon B. and Mabel (Smiley) Kelly. Dean would have graduated from
Horseheads High School, but was drafted out of his senior class serving in
WWII in the Army Calvary as a foot soldier walking most of Germany. After
the war, Dean worked for 33 years at Purolator, also known as Eclipse,
Bendix, and Facet. He was in the plant on the lines as well as being a Union
Steward and Union Negotiator for UAW Local 604. He and his wife, Arlene R.
(Smith) Kelly, were married on July 26, 1947, at the Chapel on Fort
Belvedere, VA. Dean was predeceased by his loving wife, Arlene, of 51 plus
years in 1999. He was also predeceased by four brothers, Clendon (Luella)
Kelly, William (Madeline) Kelly, Reynold (Liz, Jeannie) Kelly, Donald Kelly;
four sisters, Vera (George) Bruce, Jean (Ward Wayne) Williamson, Eula
(George) Horton, Mildred (Joe) Santucci along with their spouses;
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Beulah (Smith) Andrews;
brother-in-law, Raymond (Margaret) Smith of Camden, NY; and his son-in-law,
Lloyd “Wardie” Brown. Surviving are his three daughters, Nancy Kelly Brown,
Sally Kelly and Donna Kelly all of Horseheads, NY; grandson and wife,
Gregory W. and Jennifer (Lingnau) Brown of San Antonio, TX; great grandsons,
Matthew Brown and Johnathan Brown both of San Antonio, TX; sister and

Horseheads, NY. Dean had been a resident of Horseheads, NY, since a small
boy living on Westlake St. and Franklin St. as a paper boy and delivering
baked goods and laundry on his bicycle for his mother. Dean enjoyed his
summers camping at the family cabin in Shunk, PA. Dean also participated in
many sports, rode his motorcycle, and was an avid golfer, loving the 19th
hole. In the 1960's Dean helped organize Cinderella softball for the
Horseheads girls. In later years, he and his wife, Arlene (along with their
dog), wintered at Outdoor Resorts in South Padre Island, TX, where he had
his one and only hole in one. Dean met Hillary Clinton in Albany while
saving the lifetime insurance benefits for all the retirees of Purolator.
Dean had been a member of the Bentley Trumble American Legion Post #0442 for
many years. At the family's request there will be no calling hours. A
memorial service will be held at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery where
he will be laid to rest with his best friend and wife at the convenience of
the family. Very special thanks to all the nurses, aides and medical
professionals at Chemung County Health, Chemung County Office of the Aging,

Joseph's Hospital. She was born on May 1, 1927 to the late John and Sarah
(Finch) Kelly. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Vicki and
brothers, John and Lynn Kelly. Doris is survived by her children, Marvin
(Lisa) Hollister, Thomas Hollister, Susan Vicki, Patricia (Greg) Jeffers and
Stanley (Teresa) Vicki Jr.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
along with several nieces and nephews. Doris worked as a school bus driver
for Elmira City School District for 20 years and she loved her children and

L. ‘SALLY’ SCHNAUTZ age 87 of Horseheads passed away Wed. July 19, 2017.
Sally was born in Horseheads, NY on Aug. 21, 1929 to the late Servellon and
Mabel (Smiley) Kelly. Sally was predeceased by her son, Larry Schnautz whom
she dearly missed; She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Carl Schnautz
"all for a nickel"; sons, Chuck (Helena) Schnautz of Horseheads, Tom (Susan)
Schnautz also of Horseheads, and Karen (Tim) Mezzatesta of Cummin, GA;
Grandchildren, Stacey and Matthew Mezzatesta, Kathryn (Alex) Curren, Lauren
(Jesse) Little, Allison and Justin Schnautz; Great grandchildren, Layla and
Emilee Little; Daughter-in-law, Donna Schnautz of Horseheads;
Sisters-in-law, Dottie Kelly of Horseheads and Barbara (Roy Barber) Schnautz
of Elmira; A host of nieces, nephews, and close and caring friends,
including Cindy Ellis whom she enjoyed weekly visits and friendship shared.
She was the last survivor of her nine siblings. In addition to her

Reynold (Elizabeth) and Dean (Arlene) Kelly, Jean (Ward) Williamson, Vera
(George) Bruce, Mildred (Joseph) Santucci and Eula (George) Horton, Sally
was predeceased by her in-laws, Elmer and Freida (Schwab) Schnautz and
Brother-in-law, Earl and Anna Schnautz. Sally worked along side the Zeigler
family at Zeigler Florist in Horseheads for over 30 years and was a member
of Horseheads First United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother
and homemaker and neighborhood chocolate chip cookie maker. Family and

KELLY Thomas J.
Age 81 of Horseheads, NY died on Tuesday October 28, 2008 at home surrounded by
his loving family. Tom was born on March 22, 1927 in Elmira, NY the son of the
late Edward and Frances Crowe Kelly. Mr. Kelly was a Veteran of WWII serving
his country with the U.S. Coast Guard. He married his wife Beverly J. Bateman
Kelly on January 22, 1950 and she pre-deceased him on January 10, 2003. Thomas
was the Vice President for Chemung Electronics in Elmira, NY. He was a
communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church and a 54 year member of the
Horseheads American Legion Post #442. Tom was an avid golfer and woodworker, a
pilot and teacher of electronics. He was pre-deceased by his wife; parents;
brother & sister-in-law Edward and Babe Kelly and sister-in-law Barbara
Wagner. Mr. Kelly is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Cheryl and
Michael Capozzi of Horseheads, NY; Diane Kelly and Paul Murphy of Corning, NY;
grandchildren: Erin Capozzi, Emily (John Donlon) Marmuscak, Mitchell Murphy;
great grandson: John Michael Donlon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Fred

Third street, aged sixty-seven years. He is survived by his widow, two

KEMPIN - FRANKE
Eleanore A. (Kempin) Age 88 formerly of Highland Ave. Horseheads, NY died on
Tuesday May 1, 2001 at Bethany Manor. Mrs. Franke was born January 28, 1913 in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late John and Anna Kaugch Kempin.
Eleanore married her husband, Milton W. Franke Sr., on October 23, 1943 and was
pre-deceased by him on December 11, 1997. Mrs. Franke was a retired school
teacher having taught in the Ithaca School District for several years prior to
her retirement. Eleanore was an active member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church
in Horseheads for many years. She is survived by her son: Milton W. Franke Jr.
of Oneonta, NY; several nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends in the
community. There will be no prior calling hours. Friends are invited to attend
a Memorial Service on Friday May 4, 2001 at 10 AM in the Lounge of Bethany
Manor Skilled Unit 3 3005 Watkins Road Horseheads, NY. Her Pastor Lotta Cohen
will officiate. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery will take place at 9 AM prior

KENNEY Wilbur F.
Age 93 died on Saturday February 7, 2009 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
Wilbur was born in Phenix City, Alabama the son of the late William and Minnie
Cola Kenney. He spent his childhood in Central Florida. He married his wife,
Doris Parker Kenney, in 1937 in Penn Yan, NY and they were married 60 years
before her death on August 13, 1997. Wilbur was also pre-deceased by his eight
brothers and sisters as well as a special friend Margaret Lindstrom. Mr. Kenney
was a Veteran of WW II serving his country for four years with The Seabees.
Wilbur was a retired machinist at Eclipse/ Bendix Corp. with over 30 years of
dedicated service. Mr. Kenney is survived by his loving and devoted daughter
and son-in-law: Jean & Edward Kennon of Horseheads, NY; beloved
granddaughters: Kimberly & John Boulas II and Erin & Dan Kazmark Jr. all
of Horseheads, NY; six beloved great grandchildren: Christopher Boulas of Los
Angeles, CA, Ryan Boulas of Rochester, NY, Megan Ahrens and fiancé James
DiNicolantonio of Buffalo, NY, Matthew Ahrens of Horseheads, NY, Brian Kazmark,
and Aric Kazmark both of Horseheads, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and

WILLIAM H. KENT William H. Kent died this morning at 5 o’clock at the family home in the town of Catlin, aged fifty-seven years. He is survived by his widow, four sons, Sherman of Hornell, Vine of Catlin, Arthur of Louisville, Ky., and Sellman of Corning; two daughters, Mrs. Louis Gardner of Horseheads, and Mrs. Cash Hamilton of Erin; a brother Charles H. Kent and a sister Sophia Kent, both of Washington, Indiana. LLOYD M. KEOUGH,
age 65, of Elmira Heights, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at home
after a yearlong battle with cancer. Lloyd was born on May 8, 1949 in
Wellsville, NY. He retired this past January after 44 years at Hardinge, Inc
where he met and now leaves behind many life-long friends and co-workers.
Lloyd is survived by his devoted and loving wife Kathy; parents Oliver and
Goldie Keough; brother, Wayne (Reva) Keough; sisters, Alice Keough and
Deanne (Wayne) Knapp; sons, Brian (Valory) Keough, Dennis (Christine)
Keough, and Jason (Amy) Keough; daughters, Laura (Tim) Sarnak and Susan
Keough; step-daughters, Casey Hall and Amy (Allen) Wolcott; grandchildren,
Angela, Tony, Maxine, Caden, Stephen, Frankie, Nick, Jake, Tinsley,
Marcyssa, Darius, Ethan, Emma, Brycen, Amanda (Jeremiah), Ryan, Trevor,
Cheyenne; and great-granddaughter McKenzie. Lloyd was usually found either
working on something in his garage or enjoying the great outdoors in the
Catskill Mountains. He was seen by all those who knew him as a good, kind
and fair man. He was always willing to assist anyone who asked and rarely
did he pass up an opportunity to tell a story or two of his life

KERRICK - WATSON, Elizabeth "Jane"
Age 83 and longtime resident of South Pine Street, Horseheads went home to be
with the Lord Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was
predeceased by her son, Daniel Watson; more recently her husband, George Watson;
and daughter, Betsy Appleton Worcester. She is survived by her daughter,
Darlene (Rick) Mallecoccio of Horseheads; grandchildren, Joseph, Stephanie and
Angela Mallecoccio all of Horseheads, David and Laurie Appleton of Binghamton,
NY, James Jr., Tracy and Joel Appleton all of NC, Bradley Appleton of Waverly,
NY, and Stacey Watson of Schenectady, NY; and several great grandchildren;
sister, Winifred (Lee) Morrison of Elmira, NY; brother, John (Beverly) Kerrick
of Troy, PA and many nieces and nephews. She was a loving wife, mother, and
grandmother. Jane was very much loved by many, enjoyed spending time with her
family, and will be missed greatly. Jane and her husband were avid bowlers and

KESSELRING -YVONNE K. AMMERMAN of Horseheads, NY
passed after an extended illness on Friday, May 1, 2020 at the age of 86.
Yvonne was born on September 26, 1933 in Breesport, NY, daughter to the late
Milton and Edna Simcoe Kesselring. She was a graduate of Horseheads High
School, member of the First United Methodist Church, and a 30 year 4-H
Leader while serving as a Board of Director for Chemung County Cooperative
Extension. Prior to retirement Yvonne was self-employed in the custom
drapery business. During retirement she enjoyed painting. She is predeceased
by her husband of 68 years, Reeve Ammerman on February 23rd, daughter Becky
and sister, Diane Ensign. Yvonne is survived by her children, Randy (Dawn)
Ammerman, Jeffrey Ammerman, Laurie (Rob) Dominy, Wendy (Michael) Moses and
Tracie Johnson; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; brother, Rex
Stermer; canine companion, Katie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Elcor Health Services for
their dedicated, friendly and caring services, especially the caregivers in
the Hickory Knoll South unit. A special thank you to Debi O'Brien and Mary
Wallis for their constant help for several years. Those wishing to remember

KEYS John Brendan
Age 76 of Elmira, NY formerly of Babylon, L.I., NY died on Monday August 27,
2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. John was born August 17, 1931 in
Elmhurst, Queens, NY the son of the late Thomas J. and Ann Egan Keys. He
graduated from Newtown High School. John was a Korean War Veteran serving his
country with the U.S. Army attaining the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Keys was a
retired manager for Verizon with over 35 years of dedicated service. He was a
communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads, NY. In addition to his
parents, John was pre-deceased by his sisters Maureen Maxwell and Nancy
Dustman. John was an avid golfer and loved The New York Yankees and The New
York Giants Football teams. He also loved building model ships and traveling.
Mr. Keys loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with
them. John is survived by his beloved wife Joan T. Mullen-Keys; his children:

KINNEY - WILBER, Milo O. "Slim"
Age 79, of Dartt Settlement Road, Wellsboro, PA, died November 29, 2008 at his home.
He was the husband of Ann M. Tate Wilber, whom he married December 19, 1949 in
Coudersport, PA. Slim was born January 16, 1929 in Humphrey, NY, the son of the
late Clair and Elma Cochran Wilber. He was a supervisor for North Penn Gas
Company for 37 years, having retired in 1991, and was a member of the Troy VFW
and the Wellsboro Moose. He was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Ann; sons, James (Shirley) Wilber, Athens, PA and David
(Betty) Wilber, Liberty, PA; daughters, Sharon Wilber, Wellsboro, PA and Sue
(John) Heatley, Liberty, PA; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. He was
predeceased by his parents; sister, Alice Burdick; and nephew, Arthur Burdick.
Friends and family are invited to Slim's Life Celebration on Tuesday, December
2, 2008, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, December 3, 2008, from 10:00 a.m.
