These people were the local populace at a particular time. The people buried here knew each other, were neighbors, relatives and school mates. They attended church together and engaged in "trade" or business. All people are listed in alphabetic order by surname at BIRTH. Women identified by a married alias only and for whom a birth surname can not be identified, are listed on the last page for the cemetery's obituaries. DeCAMP – Dr. Frank H. DeCamp – Funeral services over the remains of Dr. Frank H. DeCamp will be held tomorrow (Dec. 26, 1906) morning at the home, 410 William St., at 11 o’clock. The Rev. Arthur Dougell will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery in Horseheads at the convenience of the family. DECKER DORA RARRICK Dora D. Age 78 of 2216 Grand Central Avenue Horseheads, NY died on Sunday April 30, 2006. Dora was born March 11, 1928 in Mansfield, PA the daughter of the late Fred R. and Ada Jones Decker. She was a graduate of Mansfield High School Class of 1946. Dora married her husband, Deyo C. Rarrick, on July 7, 1946 and he pre-deceased her on December 17, 1993. She was also pre-deceased by two brothers and two sisters. She attended Michigan State University and Elmira College. Mrs. Rarrick was a counselor for The New York State Unemployment Service and later worked as the Head of Housekeeping at The Arnot Ogden Medical Center and worked as the Postmaster at Elmira College. Dora was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Horseheads, the Elmira Heights American Legion Post # 154 Auxiliary, and the Elmira Grottoettes. Mrs. Rarrick is survived by her daughter: Barbara Koernig of Horseheads, NY; son and daughter-in-law: Bruce & Marcia Rarrick of Stevensville, MI; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one great grandchild due in August; brother and sister-in-law: Charles & Betty Lou Decker of Oxford, NY; brother-in-law: Roger Tomb of Westfield, PA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. ALFRED DEGRAW JR., age 78 of South Dayton and Wellsburg, NY, died Wednesday, December 6, 2000 at Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Gowanda, New York. He was born January 6, 1922 in North Chemung, New York, the son of the late Alfred Sr. and Mary (Krumloff) DeGraw. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a Moldmaker at Thatcher Glass in Elmira, New York. He also owned and operated his own Electrical Business. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Southport. He was a member of the Private Pilots Association and was an avid recreational pilot and bowler. He is survived by his wife Giovina (Lib) DeGraw of Highland Lakes, NJ, Linda A. Brown (Daughter) of South Dayton, NY, Charles DeGraw (Brother) of Millport, NY, Floyd DeGraw (Brother) of Big Flats, NY, Helen Bennett (Sister) of Elmira, NY; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Roselen (Spencer) DeGraw, and James DeGraw (Brother). Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Elmira, NY. Rev. HOWARD E.
DEHAVEN, age 80 of Painted Post, NY formerly of Horseheads, NY passed
away very unexpectedly on Saturday May 23, 2015 at The Arnot Ogden Medical
Center. Howard was born July 18, 1934 in Athens, PA the son of the late
Harry Benjamin DeHaven and Nancy Nichols DeHaven. He married his beloved
wife Jacqueline "Jacquie" Griffin DeHaven on October 5, 1957 and she
pre-deceased him on September 8 , 2012. He was also predeceased by his
brother, Harry B. DeHaven on May 4, 2000. Howard was a Veteran of The Korean
War serving his country with The U.S. Navy. He was a former member of The
Horseheads Jaycees and a member of The Horseheads Moose Club. Howard was a
retired technician from Westinghouse / IST in Horseheads, NY with several
years of dedicated service. Howard loved his family and friends and
treasured the time he spent with them. Mr. DeHaven is survived by his son,
Jeffrey DeHaven of Horseheads , NY and his former wife Kim and their
children Carly & Marcus Holthaus and Jessica DeHaven & Donald Summerhill all
of Phoenix, AZ; daughters and sons-in-law: Karen & Michael Harper of
Horseheads, NY and their children Timothy & Jordan Harper of South Carolina
and Cheyenne Harper of Horseheads, NY; Valerie & Timothy Prentice of

DEIBLER James C. - Age 69 of 48 Homeland Road, North Syracuse, NY, died on Wednesday, September 3, 2003. Jim was born July 22, 1934 in Frankfort, NY, the son of Benjamin L. Deibler & Della Ostrander Deibler. He was a retired machinist at General Electric in Syracuse, NY. Mr. Deibler was a veteran of The Korean War serving his country with the US Army. CHARLES ‘RAY’ DEKAY. A longtime resident of
Pine City, died on Sunday morning, March 28, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Hospital at
the age of 92. Born on June 3, 1911 here in Elmira, the son of John R.
and Mae Watson DeKay, Ray made this area his lifelong home. He was a
pressman for Elmira Quality Printers for many years until his retirement in
1976 and was a Steward in the Local Printers Union. Ray was a lifelong
member of the Pine City Baptist Church where he was active as a church deacon
and served on the board of trustees. He was active in the Union-Cooley
#95 Masonic Lodge of Elmira. He enjoyed rose gardening, caring for his
home, and cherished time with his family. Surviving is his loving family
who cherish his memory, children; David (Carol) DeKay, Montgomery, AL; William
(Naomi) DeKay, Gillett, PA; John (Judy) DeKay, Southport, NY; Myra (Peter)
Breese, Maravia, NY; Ronald (Donna) DeKay, Williamgton, DE; Roger DeKay, Las
Vegas, NV; thirteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. In
addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by his grandson, David DeKay; a
brother, Chester DeKay; and his sisters, Thelma Hoskins and Betty Chapin.
Family and friends will be received at Caywood’s Funeral Home & Gardens,
1126 Broadway, Southport on Thursday, April 1, 2004 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral
services will follow the visitation in the funeral chapel at Caywood’s with his

DEKOSCHAK Paul
Age 86, of Halleran Dr., Breesport, died Sat., Nov. 12, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Dudyak) Dekoschak; daughter, Claudia (Kevin) Bailey of Kalispell, MT; son, Joseph Dekoschak of Waverly, NY; grandchildren, Paul Bailey and Elizabeth (Scott) Smith; great-grandchildren, Hannah May and Bailey Aria; sister-in-law, Olga and Charlie Adams of Auburn, NY; several nieces and nephews. Paul retired from Purolator-Bendix Eclipse where he was a punch press operator. During his retirement he remained active in cemetery memorial design and sales, having worked for Raplee Monument and later a long career with the George Hoare Memorial Company in both Watkins Glen and Elmira, NY. He was also a veteran of the US Army serving his country during WWII. Paul was a communicant of Holy Trinity Orthodox Christian Church in Elmira Heights, NY. DEMPSEY Gerald E. Age 76 of 204 Sage Street South Horseheads, NY died on Friday October 27, 2006. Gerald was born March 15, 1930 in Covert, NY the son of the late Elmer and Lula Walton Dempsey. He married his wife Margaret E. Insogna Dempsey in 1962. Gerald was a retired employee of Ward LaFrance in Elmira Heights, NY. He loved woodworking and enjoyed crafting several unique pieces. Mr. Dempsey is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years Margaret E. Age 66 of Hatfield St. Horseheads died at home after a long courageous battle
with cancer on Thurs Sept. 24, 2009. June was born April 23, 1943 in Elmira,
NY, the daughter to the late Joseph and Alice (Seeley) Denkenberger. She is
survived by her devoted husband, Richard Frycek; Their children, John (Pamela)
Frycek of Syracuse, NY, Scott (Danielle) Frycek of Mt. Sinai, NY, Michelle
(Hector) Colon of Elmira, NY, and Eric Frycek at home; Grandchildren, Emily,
Ethan, Ellie, Jack, Thomas, Miguel, Jose and Julia; Sister, Donna (Paul) Boor;
Brothers, Joseph and Edward Denkenberger all of Horseheads and Robert
Denkenberger of Elmira; lifelong friend, Karren Harter of Horseheads; Several
nieces and nephews and many close and caring friends and neighbors. June was
retired from the Horseheads Central School District where she worked as an
administrative assistant in the Big Flats Elementary School. She was a devoted
wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, gardening. Family and friends are invited

27, 2009 from 3-6:00 pm. Her service will be celebrated there at the funeral

DANIEL G. DENKENBERGER, age 39, of Horseheads, died unexpectedly Tuesday, September 30, 2003. He was predeceased by his father, Daniel in 1998; and his grandparents, Joseph & Alice Denkenberger. His surviving family includes his sons, Joshua, Derek and Tyler, all of Horseheads; along with their mother, Deleta Keough of TN; mother, Virginia (Edwards) Denkenberger of Horseheads; sister, Julie (Pete) Schmitt of Elmira, with their family, Ashley, Brent, Abbey, Job, Anna, Sarah and Luke; brother, Michael (Amy) Denkenberger of Horseheads, with their family, Haley and Zachary; sister, Anne (Robby) Polovick of Elmira, with their family, Robby Jr., Adam and Noah; grandmother, Marion Clemons of Horseheads; and several aunts, uncles, and former spouse and friend, Connie Kline of Elmira Heights. A 1982 graduate of Horseheads High School. Daniel was attending Corning Community College. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also loved to cook. One of his famous specialties was “Uncle Danny’s Chicken” with his own “Secret Sauce.” Dan loved the Lord and he loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. EDWARD F.
DENKENBERGER age 80, of Horseheads, NY passed away on Saturday September
3, 2016 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA following a lengthy
illness. Ed was born December 9, 1935 in Canton, PA, the son of the late
Joseph and Alice Seeley Denkenberger. He attended Horseheads High School
before entering the United States Marines. The handsome young marine met his
beautiful wife, Kazuko Akamine Denkenberger in Okinawa, Japan. Ed and Kazuko
settled in Horseheads, NY and he worked as a Corrections Officer at the
Elmira Correctional Facility. Ed and his beloved "Kaz" spent their
retirement years traveling, gardening and spoiling their grandchildren. Ed
and Kaz were truly a love story. You rarely saw one without the other. They
shared a love of all things food. Together they raised vegetables, explored
markets for the best ingredients and cooked; much to the delight of family
and friends who benefited from their culinary creations. Ed is survived by
his loving and devoted wife, Kazuko; son, Edward (Marleah) Denkenberger Jr
of Horseheads; daughter Sylvia (Peter) Ragonese of Syracuse; son, John
(Mary) Denkenberger of Seattle WA; son Thomas (Cynthia) Denkenberger of
Castle Rock CO; grandchildren: Amanda and Ross of Horseheads and Lauren of
Seattle, WA; sister-in-law Jean Denkenberger and brother-in-law, Richard
Frycek. In addition to his parents, Ed is predeceased by brothers, Joseph,
Daniel and Robert as well as sisters, Donna Boor and June Frycek. The family
will welcome relatives and friends on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 4pm to
7pm at Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 East Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads.

JOSEPH DENKENBERGER, 79, Horseheads, NY, died March 17, 1988. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Our Mother Church, a retired employee of General Electric, a member of the Quarter Century Club at GE, a member of the Horseheads American Legion Post 442, the Horseheads Moose and the Horseheads Eagles. Surviving are his wife, Alice Seeley Denkenberger, Horseheads, NY; four sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph F. and Jean Denkenberger, Louisville, OH, Edward and Kazuko Denkenberger and Daniel and Virginia Denkenberger, both of Horseheads, NY and Robert and Vivian Denkenberger, Elmira, NY; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Paul Boor and June and Richard Frycek, both of Horseheads, NY; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Nellie Denkenberger, Troy and Richard and Harriet Denkenberger, Alba; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Anne Wilcox, Mainesburg and Elizabeth and George Bartosch, Horseheads, NY; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. DENKENBERGER - SHERMAN, Pauline (Denkenberger)
Passed from this life on October 6, 2008, while a resident of Elcor Health
Services Colonial Ridge North. Mrs. Sherman was born June 10, 1929 on East Hill
in the Town of Elmira to Ludwig F. and Olive M. (Benson) Denkenberger. While
she was an infant, the family moved to Cuyler, NY, where she was raised,
attending school in neighboring DeRuyter. Pauline moved to the Village of
Horseheads in 1948 when she married Ronald J. Sherman on September 19th. For
several years they operated Sherman's Grocery, which stood on the site of the
current Horseheads Holiday Inn. They moved to Elmira and, in 1978, returned to
Horseheads when they purchased the Sherman family house at 713 West Broad
Street, where she lived until recently. Pauline was predeceased by her parents;
husband of 49 years, Ronald, on April 9, 1997; brother, James Valentine
Denkenberger of Tully; brother, Ludwig Glenn Denkenberger of Cuyler;
father-in-law and mother-in-law, John H. and Winifred (Gardner) Sherman of
Horseheads; brothers-in-law, John H., Lewis and Robert L. Sherman of W. Elmira,
Horseheads and Big Flats, respectively; and numerous well-loved family canine
members. She is survived by her son, Ronald J. Sherman, Jr. of Erin; sister, Grace
(Robert L.) Sherman of Big Flats; brother and sister-in-law, E. Robert and
Jeanine Denkenberger of DeRuyter; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Patricia
Letts of Greenwood, California; sisters-in-law, Cleo (James V.) Denkenberger of
Tully, and Herta (L. Glenn) Denkenberger of DeRuyter; step grandchildren, Max
T. Stahl of Chicago, and Juliet C. S. Schatzberger of NYC; numerous cousins,
nephews, nieces, friends; and her dearest lifelong and supportive friend, Joan
Lockwood of Auburn. Pauline lost her mother very early. She and her siblings
were raised through the depression years by a hard-working and loving father
who sacrificed all for his children. In return, they all loved him dearly,
thrived on their bond, and raised their own children with an intense love of
family. Pauline worked hard as a wife, mother, homemaker, and full-time
employee of Allendale Dairy, Loblaws, and finally retiring early from Great
American on Lake Road in 1992 to provide at home care for her husband. She
served as a Cub Scout den-mother, participated in all Boy Scout troop
fund-raising dinners and activities, and was a former communicant of St.
Matthew's Episcopal Church. Pauline's son acknowledges and extends his
heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the professional and supportive staff at
Elcor Health Services for the comfort and care provided Pauline during her
residency with them. Those wishing to make donations in her memory should do so

DENKENBERGER Robert G.
Age 63 formerly of Horseheads, NY died on Tuesday November 3, 2009 after a
brief illness. Bob was born August 9, 1946 in Elmira, NY the son of the late
Joseph and Alice G. Seeley Denkenberger. He was a Vietnam War Veteran serving
his country with the US Army and a former member of The Clarence R. Oliver
American Legion Post # 154 in Elmira Heights, NY. Robert was pre-deceased by
his father Joseph Denkenberger on March 17, 1988, his mother Alice G. Seeley
Denkenberger on August 3, 2002, his brother Daniel Denkenberger on July 5,
1998, and his sister Alice June Frycek on September 24, 2009. Mr. Denkenberger
was a retired District Manager with Combined Life Insurance. Bob is survived by

Josephine Age 85 of 3520 Michigan Avenue Elmira Heights, NY died on Sunday
August 27, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Josephine was born January 20, 1921
in Trenton, NJ the daughter of the late Pasquale and Pasqualina Manco D'Errico.
She married her husband, Homer C. Connis, who pre-deceased her on July 5, 1987.
Josephine was a devoted wife and mother and an avid bingo player. Mrs. Connis
is survived by her son Kenneth Connis of Elmira Heights, NY; sister Ann of
Trenton, NJ; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends.

DERRY Merritt B. Age 79, of Horseheads, NY,
died November 1, 2006 at Bethany Manor, Horseheads. Merritt was born July 10,
1927 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Merritt P. and Rodah Jones Derry. He
married Monna Munn on May 30, 1948 in Niagara Falls, NY. She predeceased him in
June, 2002. He was a graduate of Trott Vocational School in Niagara Falls, NY,
and worked as a supervisor at Facet Enterprises, Elmira Heights. Merritt
enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945 and was discharged in 1946. He was a member
of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed woodworking, summers at the lake,
winters in Florida, and spending time with his family. Surviving are sons,
Edwin (Sylvia) Derry of Horseheads, Jim Derry of Cary, NC, Tom (Pam Rapp) Derry
of Peoria, IL; grandchildren, Shelby Derry of Corning, David (Brenda) Derry of
Horseheads, Chelsea Derry of NC. Merritt was also predeceased by a son, Dale
Kevin Derry. Family and friends are invited to call at Ballard and Lindgren

Formerly of 11 Westwind Road Horseheads, NY was born August 29, 1929, in
Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Edward and Theresa M. (Rossi) Devereaux,
died peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at
Bethany Manor at the age of 81. Her loving husband, Louis S. Costello, with
whom she celebrated 43 wonderful years of life and love with, preceded her in
death on September 29, 1994. Her beloved son, Daniel J. Costello also
predeceased her. She is survived by her much loved children, daughter, LuAnne

Mrs. Hungerford was employed as Managing Editor and Columnist for the Chemung
Valley Reporter, until moving her family to Himrod in 1962. Jane was devoted to
her family; and still found time to volunteer at Dundee Central School, and the
Dundee Library. She was a dedicated member of the former Dundee Library Woman's
Study Club, and the Yates County Republican Committee. She is loved and will be
dearly missed by 3 sons, Daniel C. (Margaret) Hungerford of Endicott, Frederick

Age 95 formerly of West Second Street Elmira, NY died on Sunday February 7,
2010 in Stuart, Virginia. Edward was born on October 26, 1914 in Brooklyn, NY

WWII serving his country with the U.S. Navy. Edward married his wife Maye H.

A longtime resident of Elmira died Monday, August 18, 2008 at his home. Born on
August 6, 1925 in Elmira Heights, Eldon was the son of Leon & Winifred
Walker Doane. He was married to Marcella Mault Doane for over 50 years until
her passing in 1998. Together they provided a wonderful home for friends and
family to gather. "Eldie's" interests included woodworking and he was
a Freelance Artist. He was employed for 38 years by Thatcher Glass as a
machinist. In serving his country, "Eldie" was a WWII Navy Veteran
who served in the South Pacific, serving on two separate PT Boats. He was a
member of the Clarence Oliver Legion Post # 154 of Elmira Heights. Surviving is
Sandra (Joseph) Slavin, Elmira for whom he cared for like a daughter; a granddaughter,
Missy (Todd) Campbell, San Diego, CA; a loving nephew, Archie (Linda) Sturch,
Southport; a special cousin, Lynn (Janet) Doane, Horseheads; several nieces and
nephews along with his feathered friend, "Barney". In addition to his
parents and beloved Marcella, "Eldie" was predeceased by his
brothers, Marcelus "Tutt" Doane and Robert Doane. Family and friends

Olgia V. Formerly of Sullivanville, NY Age 81, was born February 29, 1924 in
Schuyler County, the daughter of the late Mason and Pearl (Hockenberry) Doane.
She celebrated her 'coronation day' on Monday, November 7, 2005, as she was
ushered to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Saviour. Her beloved
husband, Murl, in 1988; and her sisters, Evelyn and Kathryn, predeceased Olgia.

celebrating 43 years of marriage. John had worked at Spaulding Bakery,
Elmira Chrysler Plymouth, Cornell University, and retired as a chef with
Corning Inc. and Watkins Glen International; John was a member and Past
Commander of Bentley-Trumble American Legion Post # 442 in Horseheads, NY.
In addition to his parents, John was pre-deceased by his sisters, Beverly J.
(Mrs. Lawrence) Vaughan, Rosetta M. (Mrs. John) Yokimishyn, and Nancy (Mrs.
James) Wood. He spent many hours volunteering at The American Legion in
Horseheads , NY. John loved his family and friends and treasured the time he

DOSTMAN - FOLGER, Winifred Held
Age 88, and longtime resident of Riverside, CA, and formerly of E. Franklin
St., Horseheads, died quietly on Oct. 3, 2007. She was born in Elmira, NY, the
daughter to the late George and Lela (Hungerford) Dostman. Winifred was
predeceased by her husbands, Clifford Held of Horseheads, NY, and E. C.
"Pete" Folger of Riverside, CA. She was also predeceased by her
former husband, H. Spurgeon Moss. Her surviving family includes her daughters,
Lucinda Moss Terwilliger of Lowman, NY, Connie Moss Mays of Rainbow Valley, CO,
Lee St. John (AKA Bonnie Held) of Riverside, CA; three grandsons, granddaughters-in-law,
two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Also surviving are a brother,
George Dostman of Rochester, NY; sister-in-law, Betty Dostman of Spencerport,
NY. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Charles (Marge) Dostman, Ralph
(Bea) Dostman, Danny Dostman; and sister-in-law, Anne Dostman. Locally she was
a graduate of Breesport High School and former employee of Westinghouse Corp.
In California she was also member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliary.
She was a lifetime member of the Society of Military Widows and a volunteer at
the Riverside California Kaiser Hospital for 20 years. Her passions were
playing bridge and rooting for the Anaheim Angels. She was a strong, loyal,
comical and loving woman whose family meant everything to her. She will be
profoundly missed, but will always remain in the hearts of her family and
friends. She was also a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in
Riverside, CA, where she will be remembered Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at their
Sunday Morning Worship. Locally, burial services will take place in Maple Grove

peacefully Friday, July 3, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was
born October 7, 1925 in Elmira to Mina Belle (Evans) and Clarence Oliver
Doty. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, David and Richard; and
son-in-law, John Cummings. Eleanor is survived by her devoted children,
Cheryl Putney Drew of Horseheads; Charline Cummings of Pine City; J. Forrest
(Wendy) Putney of Freeville; J. Vincent (Laura) Putney of Pine Valley; 8
grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Packard and
Marjorie (Vinnie) Magaw; along with several nieces and nephews and extended
family members. A celebration of her exemplary and amazing life will take
place on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church
on Westinghouse Road in Horseheads where she was a long-term member and a
Deacon. Pastor Jonathan Knight will officiate. Interment will take place

age of 94. Margaret was born in Elmira, NY, October 22, 1920, daughter of
the late Mina Belle Evans and Clarence Oliver Doty. She was predeceased by
her husband Allen D. Packard, Sr., brothers David Charles and Richard Evans
Doty, and sister Eleanor J. Doty Putney. She is survived by her sons, Allen
D. (Terry) Packard, Jr. of Ballston Spa, NY and Gary R. (Carol) Packard of
Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Melissa (Rob) Williamson, Scott (Lorraine)
Packard, David Packard, John (Caroline) Packard and Mary Beth Phifer; six
great-grandchildren; sister Marjorie A. Doty (Vinnie) Magaw; and several
nieces and nephews. Margaret enjoyed many years of retirement from Mechanics
Savings Bank by spending time with her family, camping, playing cards and
volunteering. She was a very active lady, involved with the Cub Scouts,
Parents Teachers Associations, Mothers March of Dimes, Ground Observers
Corps, Sunday School Teacher, Chemung County Chamber of Commerce, Elcor,
Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Horseheads Historical Society, Red Cross Blood
Drives, election inspector, and at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, where she
was a Lay Eucharistic Minister. Thanks to the Elcor Skilled Nursing Staff in
Hickory Knoll for their care. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate
Margaret's life on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 11AM at St. Matthew's
Episcopal Church, 410 South Main St., Horseheads, NY with Rev. Robert Adkins
officiating. She will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery with her

SR. longtime resident of Horseheads, NY passed away on Thursday evening,
February 11, 2016 at the age of 86. Hugh was born December 25, 1929 in
Elmira, NY, a son of the late Royal and Ruby Artman Douglass. Hugh is
preceded in death by brothers, Artman, James and Royal. He is survived by
his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Nancy Canty Douglass of Horseheads,
NY; sons, Hugh Douglass Jr. of Horseheads, NY, Joel Douglass of Horseheads,
NY and William Douglass of Franklin, TN; grandchildren, Jesse Douglass,
Hillary Hackett and Ashley Hackett; brother, Paul Douglass; sisters-in-law,

cousins. Hugh was a member of the Living Word Evangelical Free Church, and
founder and former President of ACTS (Area Christians Together in Service)
for 40 years. He also served his country honorably during the Korean War
with the 187th Army Airborne. He was retired and formerly employed in the
printing/publishing industry at; Scripture Press, FM Howell, and his own

Age 69 of Horseheads, NY died on Monday July 30, 2012 at The Chemung County Nursing Facility. Donald was born December 17, 1942 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Donald J. and Frances A. Bennett Drake Sr. He graduated from Horseheads High School and enlisted in The U.S. Navy and he proudly served his country during The Vietnam War and continued his service after active duty in The U. S. Naval Reserves. Don married his wife, Linda K. Searfoss Drake on December 4, 1965 and they recently celebrated their 46th Wedding Anniversary on December 4, 2011. He was a member of The Horseheads American Legion Post # 442. Don was a member and Past Master of Big Flats Lodge # 378 F.& A.M. Don was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. Don was a retired employee of Corning Inc. with several years of dedicated service. He loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Don is survived by his wife of 46 years Linda K. DRAKE Todd Michael Age 43, of Hannibal, NY, died Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY. He was born in Elmira, NY, and he has been a resident of Hannibal for 18 years. Mr. Drake owned and operated Arbortek Tree Service, Hannibal, NY. He was a volunteer coach with Fulton Pop Warner Football and Fulton Knee High Basketball. Mr. Drake was an avid fan of all Fulton High School sport events. He was a member of the Young Men's Presidency in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. DRAPER Clifford J. Age 81, of Horseheads, NY, died on Friday, February 17, 2006, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born on September 26, 1924 in Wayne, NY, to the late Jesse and Lois (Gould) Draper. Clifford was predeceased by his wife, June (Miller) Draper; and brothers, Charles, Harold and Kenneth Draper. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie Draper-Donley and Shawn Donley of Huntingtown, MD; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Vevia Morse of Horseheads, Durwood Hopkins of Corning, Clara Draper of Palmyra, NY, and Augusta Draper of Bath, NY; step granddaughter, Jenn Donley of Tucson, AZ; along with several nieces and nephews. Clifford was a concrete mixer driver and was employed by Elmira Transit Mix and later with Dalrymple Construction. After retirement, he was a school crossing guard for the Town of Horseheads. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Horseheads for over 50 years, where he was a church usher and a member of the United Methodist Men. Clifford served our country in the US Army from 1946 to 1947. He was also a ham radio operator and enjoyed bowling, biking, ballroom dancing and cross-country skiing. age 72 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Monday April 21, 2014. Pete was born
on August 26, 1941 in Middletown, NY the son of the late William F. and
Marie T. "Sally" Haughey Driscoll Sr. Mr. Driscoll was a Veteran serving his
country with the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a security guard for Corning
Inc. and was the former owner of Driscoll's Tavern in Big Flats, NY and also
worked security for the LPGA in Corning, NY for many years. He was a
communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads. Pete was a member
of the Elks, he loved his sports especially attending Horseheads High School
Varsity Baseball Sports and Supporter and follower of and coached Little
League Baseball, also was a member of 4 State Championship Teams in
Softball. He was pre-deceased by his parents and sister Mary Kay Sheeran.
Peter is survived by his son: Gregg Driscoll of Horseheads, NY; daughters
and sons-in-law: Jill and Glenn Farr of Horseheads, NY; Stacey and Joe White

Piccirillo, Marcine (Kelly) Willett, Adelle (Chris ) Jarvis, Aaron Saunders,
Adam Saunders; great-grandson, Ethan Piccirillo, Hudson, Foster, Porter, and
Ledger Willett, Giovanni and Luca Jarvis and Chase Wessell. Larry worked as
a guard at Attica Prison and then moved to Albany for three years as a
Maintenance Supervisor; moved to the Elmira area in 1968 to work at Elmira
Prison. Larry retired as the Plant Supervisor. After retirement they lived
in Florida during the winters and built their retirement home at the age of
70. He was always active in his church and loved and served his Lord and
Savior. He will be greatly missed by all that had the wonderful privilege to
know him. Special thanks to all at Bethany Manor for the love and care they
gave to my husband and our father. Family and friends are invited to visit
at Barber Funeral Home, 413 So. Main St., Horseheads, NY on Saturday, May 3,
2014, from 10 a.m. - 12:00 noon. His funeral and committal services will

DUNBAR Richard Franklin
Age 99, formerly of Elmira Heights and Horseheads, and recently of Odessa, NY,
died peacefully Friday, December 14, 2007, at Seneca View, Montour Falls, NY.
Born August 6, 1908 in Elmira, NY, he graduated from Thomas A. Edison High
School as Salutatorian in 1926. He later graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute in 1932 with a degree in civil engineering and was a member of Sigma
XI. He married Delores Kidd in 1937 and was married for 69 years. He was a
member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church. He spent 8 years as traveling
auditor (1932-1940) for Jewel Tea Company, later working for American Bridge as
a structural Engineer (1940-43), Eclipse Bendix Corp as research and test engineer
(1943), becoming Assistant Plant Engineer (1950), and later Plant Engineer
(1952). He became District General Manager for Chemung County Sewer District in
1962, and was involved in numerous community organizations. Richard served as
Elmira Heights Village Clerk (1944-56), President of Elmira Industrial
Management Club, Past Master of Elmira Heights F&AM Lodge 913, Past
Director of the YMCA, member of Chemung County Planning Board and Water
Pollution Control Association of New York State, a Boy Scout assistant leader,
and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. The family will provide
flowers. Memorials in his memory be directed to the Oakwood United Methodist
Church Memorial Fund, 212 Oakwood Ave., Elmira Heights, NY 14903; or Schuyler

He is survived by three children, Carole (Thomas) Gifford of Montour Falls,
Kenneth (Joan) Dunbar of Horseheads, and Gerald (Charleen) Dunbar of Mineral,
VA; six grandchildren, Paul (Kathleen) Gifford, Dulcie (James) Champion,
Deborah (Christopher) Zentz, Kristen Dunbar, Tiffany (Mark) Lione, Ashelly
(Steve) Cook; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at
Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, Friday, December 21,
from 12 noon-1:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the

DUNMORE - WOOD, Clara L.
Age 86, of El-Cor Nursing Facility, Horseheads, died Tuesday, November 13,
2007. Survived by sons, Asa (Darcy) Wood, Lawrenceville, PA, Colin Wood,
Elmira, Olin (Mabel) Wood, Horseheads, Daryl (Dorothy) Wood, Elmira; daughter,
Kerehl Wood, Ashland, VA; brother, Hyla Dunmore, Ashville, NY; several nieces,
nephews and cousins; predeceased by sister, Annamae Kjelgaard. Clara was a
member of Elmira Wesleyan Church and the Mother of Twins Club. Donations may be
made to the family for her Headstone. The Family will receive relatives and
friends at the Kalec Funeral Home, Friday, November 16th, from 11 a.m. to 1
p.m., followed immediately by her Funeral Service at 1 p.m., Rev. Tim Swank

held there Sunday at 2 pm. The Rev. Everett Kaufman will officiate. Committal

is survived by her husband, Duane J. Smith Sr.; her children, Linda Carl of
