They attended church together and engaged in "trade" or business. All people are listed in alphabetic order by surname at BIRTH. CHARLES E. CLARK the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Clark, died Saturday evening (June 28, 1924) at the family home in the Town of Big Flats, aged one month. The parents; two sisters, Martha and Eva M. and two brothers, Emmet and George survive. CLARK - CUNNINGHAM, Diane R. Clark
Geneva, NY - 59, formerly of Taylor Ave., Horseheads, NY, died on Sunday,
January 18, 2009, with her family by her side at the House of John Hospice in
Clifton Springs. Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 21, 2009,
from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at DeVaney-Bennett & Simons Funeral Home, 181 N. Main
St., Geneva. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at
2:00 p.m. at the Faith Community Church, 90 Lewis St., Geneva with the Rev. Dr.
J. Mark Ammerman officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery,
Horseheads, NY. While flowers will be graciously accepted, the family asks that
memorial contributions in Diane's name be made to the House of John Hospice, 14
Spring St., Clifton Springs, NY 14432. Diane was born in Elmira, NY on
September 19, 1949 to the late Frederick C. Clark and Verna Peer Clark, who
survives. She appreciated art and music and her many friends that brought her
so much joy. Diane dedicated her life to caring for children and grandchildren
and valued her relationship with God. Her thoughtfulness and giving spirit will
be remembered and missed by all those who knew her. Along with her mother,
Diane is survived by her loving children, Noel (Christina) Clark, Joshua
Stukey, Mary Todd and Grace (Rohit) Mirchindani with grandchildren, Jacob and
Erin Clark and Ronan Mirchindani. She is also survived by her siblings, Nancy
(Mike) Wall, Caroline Mattoon, Laura (Robert) Juravich, David (Maura) Clark and

CLARK - SEMPLER Doris C.
Age 73, of Horseheads, died on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008. She was born Feb. 4,
1935 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late LeRoy and Eunice (Ingalls) Clark.
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Richard Sempler; daughters,
Karen (Bill) White of Elmira Heights, NY, Nancy (Rick) O'Berry of Virginia
Beach, VA; sons, Ron (Diane) Sempler of Horseheads, NY, Jerry Sempler of
Horseheads, NY, Dan (Kathe) Sempler of Breesport, NY; grandchildren, Melissa
and Michael White, Dustin and Cory Sempler, Tiffani Sempler, Nichole (Brandon)
Eaton, Sarah and Ryhab Sempler; brothers-in-law, Carl (Fran) Sempler of
Horseheads, NY, and Bob (Lisa) Sempler of Pine City, NY. She was retired from
the Elmira Heights School System where she was an office administrator for over
26 years. Doris was a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church; Elmira Heights
Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and a charter member of the Elmira Heights
Historical Society. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber
Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads, on Sunday March 2, 2008, from 2-4:00

CLARK - Mrs. Harry Rodabaugh Mrs. Emma Rodabaugh, 58, died this morning at the family home in Sullivanville after an extended illness. She is survived by her husband, Harry Rodabaugh; a daughter, Mrs. Walter Ferguson, eight sons, Elmer, Ernest, George, Darrel, Frank, Cecil, Henry and Daniel all of Horseheads. The remains repose in the Chilson & Shields funeral home, Horseheads. Funeral notice later.
CLARK Jerry C.
Age 61 of Horseheads, NY died very unexpectedly on Wednesday June 17, 2009.
Jerry was born January 10, 1948 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Emmett John
Clark and Clara E. Beckwith Clark. He was also pre-deceased by his brothers
Joseph F. Clark on April 23, 1975 and John E. Clark on April 29, 1990. Jerry
was a member of Painters Local #178 and employed by Pendelton's Painting in
Elmira, NY. Jerry loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent
with them. Jerry is survived by his former wife Constance Lewis Clark with whom
he resided; son and daughters-in-law: Kenneth J. & Shelley Clark and their
children Tyler, Cole, and Kelly of Elmira, NY; daughter and son-in-law: Laurie
& Terry Burlew and their children Aaron, Garrett, and Tyler of Athens, PA;
sisters and brothers-in-law: Joyce & Bill Francis of Dundee, NY and Joan
Frisk & Joe Wade of Millport, NY; brother and sister-in-law: Jackson &
Patricia Clark of Cayuta, NY; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces,

CLARK Lewis B.
Age 93 of Horseheads, NY died on Sunday May 17, 2009. Lewis was born May 15,
1916 in Toledo, Ohio the son of the late Arna and Margaret Rounsville Clark. He
was a Veteran of WW II serving his country with The U.S. Army. Lew married his
wife, Doris C. Colson Clark, on March 28, 1945 and they recently celebrated
their 64th Wedding Anniversary on March 28, 2009. Mr. Clark owned and operated
Clark's Disposal Service. Lew was pre-deceased by his brothers, Meldee, Harold,
Levi and Francis Clark, and by his sisters, Dorothy Clark, and Julia Ashley. He
was also pre-deceased by his sister-in-law Mary Wojnarek and his brother-in-law
Rexford Garrison. Lew loved to hunt and fish with his buddies. He loved his
family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Lew is survived
by his loving and devoted wife Doris C. Colson Clark; daughter and son-in-law:

CLARK Louis A.
Age 82, and formerly a longtime resident of Arnold Ave. in Horseheads, went
home to be with his loving wife and Lord on Dec. 29, 2009 at the Arnot Ogden
Medical Center. He was born May 5, 1927 in Auburn, NY, the son of the late
George and Dorothy (Olmsted) Clark. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret on
July 12, 2004. His surviving family includes his daughters and sons-in-law,
Constance and Thomas Weed Sr. of Horseheads, NY, Lucinda (Garey Stout) Mathews
of Elmira, NY, Phyllis and Dennis Griffin of Breesport, NY; grandchildren,
Melissa Huggins of Horseheads, NY, Thomas Weed Jr., of Horseheads, NY, Jamie
(Pete Jr.) Mastrantonio of Elmira Heights, NY, Matthew (Stacey) Weed of Elmira,
NY, Jason (Marianne) Wood of Elmira, NY and Melanie (Matthew) Campbell of
Aldie, VA; great-grandchildren, Arielle and Bo Huggins, Kaitlyn and Joshua
Weed, Julianna and Joey Mastrantonio, Adam Weed, Avery Jane Campbell; sister,
Marian Clark of Elmira Heights, NY. Lou was also predeceased by his
sons-in-law, Mark Mathews in 2002, Steve Wood in 1986; and sister-in-law,
Josephine Wall in 1999. He and his wife, Margaret, were married in Emanuel
Episcopal Church on November 22, 1950. Lou was a member of St. Matthews
Episcopal Church and a retired Warehouse Manager for Corning Inc at the Holding
Point in Horseheads before his retirement in 1988. He was also a member of the
Flint Glass Workers Union. He was past President of Elmira Heights Cinderella
League, an avid stamp collector, member of Elmira Stamp Club and an avid card

age 83 formerly of Division Street in Horseheads, NY passed away on
Wednesday July 27, 2016. Marian was born on July 1, 1933 in Auburn, NY the
daughter of the late George W. and Dorothy B. Olmsted Clark. She was a
retired Dietary Aide from Bethany Village in Horseheads, NY. She was also
predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law: Barbara and John Regan; and

She is survived by her husband, Charles VanVliet; two daughters, Louise VanVliet and Elizabeth VanVliet at home; six brothers,, Abel Clark of Johnstown, Pa., Seth Clark of Dubois, Pa., James Burton of Corning, Charles of Tiadaghton, Pa., John Burton and Christoperh Burton of Wellsboro, Pa.; one sister, Mrs. Mervin VanVliet of Tiadaghton. CLARK Melvin L. Painted Post, New York Melvin L. Clark died on June 24, 2006 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Melvin was born on July 23, 1920 in Millport, NY, and was a son to the late Floyd and Velma (Hurd) Clark. Melvin and wife, Virginia (McLaughlin) were married at St. Mary's of the Lake in Watkins Glen, New York, May 14, 1942, and recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Melvin was employed at Chemung Foundry in Elmira and retired as a Superintendent after 41 years of service. Melvin enjoyed camping and traveling with his wife. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and the outdoors. A longtime residence of Horseheads, Melvin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia (McLaughlin) Clark. Melvin is also survived by his son, James C. CLARK - KITTLE, Mina E.
Age 87 of Corning, formerly of Elmira, died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at
Founder's Pavilion, Corning. Mina was born August 9, 1920, the daughter of
Arthur D. and Frances Schoonover Clark. She is predeceased by her husband,
Almon S. Kittle and sister, Mary Lee Shepard. Mina is survived by her daughters
and sons-in-law, Kathleen E. McGee of Seneca, SC, Patricia K. and James Metelko
of Corning, Margaret C. and Lawrence Pierce of Hornell, NY, and A. Jean and
Kenneth Nykiel of North Canton, OH.; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren;
brothers and sisters, David Clark, Leslie Clark, Harry (Mildred) Clark, Fritz
(Mary Alice) Clark, Teddy (Laurie) Clark, Myrtle (James) Keithline, and Mildred
(Richard) Folmer. Mina was a devoted member of Horseheads United Methodist
Church and a long time volunteer with Arnot Ogden Medical Center, RSVP, and Bethany

ROSE E. CLASSON
age 98, formerly of Elmira Heights, passed away on Friday, February 26,
2016, at the Solomon Nursing Center, MD. Rose was born in Elmira Heights, to
the late Carl and Elsie (Hanson) Classon. In addition to her parents, she
was also predeceased by her sister, Lillian Mullin in 1994. Rose worked at
the Elmira Knitting Mill for over 25 years as well as in the accounting
department at Purolator-Bendix/Eclipse in Elmira Heights. She was a member
of Oakwood United Methodist Church for 81 years having worked countless
hours as a volunteer in their kitchen baking and preparing food for various
church functions. Rose was also a member of the Business and Professional
Women's Association, the Elmira Heights Historical Society and the Red Hat
Society, "Mark Twain Huckleberries." She will be missed by her entire

–MARGARET J. BUSH was born August 2, 1926 in Elmira the daughter of the late
Joseph and Margaret (Libby) Clements, passed away peacefully with her family
at her side on Monday, October 19, 2015. Her loving husband of 54 years,
Donald L. Bush; brother, Joseph Clements Jr.; brother-in-law, Alvin Ryan
preceded her in death. She is survived by her beloved daughters and
sons-in-law, Debbie and Gary Burlew Sr.; Sandy and Steve Bradt; adored
grandchildren: Gary Burlew Jr. and Olivia, Tina (Jason) Willey, Michelle
(Brian) Tilden, Sarah (Dave) Whitehead and Justin Bradt; great
grandchildren, Lindsay, Mason, Gavin, Aiden, Carter and Brennan; sister,
Nancy Ryan; very special friend of over 70 years and sister-in-law, Sophie
Clements and her girls, Sharon, Pat, Janice, Kim and Eileen; along with
nieces and nephews. Margaret loved working and teaching with ceramics at her
daughter's ceramic shop in Horseheads. In her earlier years, she enjoyed
bowling and teaching bowling to the junior league with her husband, Donald.
She was a member of the Elmira Sports Hall of Fame for her accomplishments
in softball. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching it on TV from
Thursday to Sunday religiously. Family and friends are invited to call at

Age 84, formerly of Rockwell Avenue in Horseheads and Villa Serene in Elmira
Heights died on Friday January 1, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Helen was born
on April 14, 1925 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Milo and Gladys Magaw
Cleveland. She was the Secretary to Fred LeValley at LeValley-McLeod in Elmira,
NY. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mrs.
Forsyth married her husband Robert C. Forsyth on May 29, 1948 and he
pre-deceased her on September 25, 1994. She was also pre-deceased by her
brother and sisters: Milo Cleveland; Hazel Foster; Marjorie Cleveland. Helen is
survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Gary and Nancy Forsyth of Pine City,
NY; daughter and son-in-law: Jacquelyn and Gerald Hoagland of Florence, AZ;
grandchildren: Neal Forsyth and Megan Forsyth; sister: Virginia Andrews of

Kenneth A. CLINE SR., 70, Elmira, NY died Wednesday, March 5, 1997 at the bath VA Medical Center, Bath, NY. Mr. Cline was born June 13, 1926 in Elmira, NY, the son of Ray Marvin Cline and Frances Sarah Woodhouse Cline. He was a veteran of WW II with the US Navy. Mr. Cline was a structural steel engineer on several projects including those at Remington Rand, American Bridge Works and a power project at Niagara Falls. He retired as a captain with Moore Protective Agency at Syracuse, NY. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth A. Jr. and Mary Cline of Horseheads, NY; daughter, Sharon Lee Deerstein of MD; two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; mother, Frances Woodhouse Cline Stone of Elmira, NY; a brother and sister-in-law; aunt, Leah Brace of Troy, PA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held at the Van Buskirk-Lynch Funeral Home in Horseheads on march 8 with the Rev. Burdette Mason officiating and interment to be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, where full military honors will be accorded Mr. Cline.

HARRY W. COATS, age 92, formerly of Elmira, NY, died peacefully with his loving family by his side, Sunday, April 17, 2995, in Gillett, PA. Harry was born in Colley, PA, son of Charles and Bessie (Reibsam) Coats. Harry served our country in the United States Army during WWII. He retired from NYS Environmental Dept. in Elmira as a Flood Control Specialist. He was an avid hunter and longtime member of the NRA, and his favorite hobby was woodworking. age 83, of Horseheads, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 19, 2014, at
home. He was born on March 11, 1931 in Corning, NY to the late Hugh and Edna
(Layton) Colegrove. Keith was predeceased by his wife, Alice Colegrove; twin
brother, Kenneth Colegrove; and sisters, Dorothy Miller and Frances Maynard.
He is survived by his sons, Keith R. Colegrove and Karle White, both of FL;
daughter, Joanne (Andrew) Foster of Elmira; grandchildren, Scott (Amanda)
Hayes and Kim (Les) Sills; and great-grandchildren, Trevor, Ryan, Hannah and

COLLINS. Age 80, of 11 Rosewood Road, Big Flats, NY passed away
peacefully at Saint Joseph's Hospital on Friday, January 16, 2015. James was
born March 24, 1934 in Elmira, son of the late Charles B. and Lucy P.
Collins. Survivors include a son, Timothy J. Collins and his wife Judith J.
Watson of Yorktown, VA; daughter, Lana M. Collins; granddaughter, Leila A.
Nies of Wellsville, NY; sister, Nancy C. Isaacs of Elmira; brother-in-law,
Delbert Edkin of Horseheads; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by his loving wife, Carole R. Collins on March 1, 1998 and
sister, Sue A. Edkin on October 25, 2006. James attended Thomas A. Edison
High School graduating in June 1953. He served his country and was honorably
discharged from the United States Navy (1956-1958). He also served as a
member of the U.S. Naval Reserve (1958-1960). James was retired with 40
years of service from Westinghouse where he first worked on cathode-ray
television picture tubes and later as a maintenance technician in the
powerhouse. He was a Master Mason, 32nd degree, member of Elmira Heights
F&AM Lodge #913 for many years and later of Horseheads Old Oak F&AM Lodge
#364, receiving his 50-year Masonic service award on October 15, 2012. Jim
enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, golf, hunting and fishing. He was a former
Scoutmaster of Elmira Heights Troop 13, passing his love of the outdoors on
to his scouts and as a cherished memory for his children. Jim was a season
ticket holder for the Elmira Pioneers and held a special place in his heart
for Dunn Field Stadium which was a structure his father helped design as a
draftsman at American Bridge. He loved the Christmas season and will always
be remembered for his thoughtfulness and giving nature. Family and friends
are invited to call Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the

Elouise & Donald Condon. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps,

retiring as Chief Lineman, loved cars, being a member of the Chemung Valley
Street Rods & played Euchre at the Big Flats American Legion. He is survived

M. Strong, who pre-deceased her on March 24, 1980. She was also pre-deceased by

Medical Center. Ray was a Veteran of WW II serving his country with The US

pre-deceased him on July 1, 1993. Ray was a retired tool and die maker at
Westinghouse Corporation in Horseheads, NY. Mr. Conklin was a volunteer driver
for The American Red Cross in Elmira, NY. He was a member of The First United
Methodist Church of Horseheads and The Lions Club. He is survived by his

age 79 of Horseheads, NY, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014. Roger was
born on January 10, 1935, son of the late Ray Sweet Cooper and Dorothy Toor
Cooper. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his grandson,
Thomas Richard Carrier. Roger is survived by his wife, Mary Jane (Pysher)
Cooper, and were to celebrate 51 years of marriage this October 12; his
children, Kathleen (Thomas) Carrier of Horseheads, NY, Patricia Klawonn of
Knoxville, TN, and Nancy (Sean) Ryan of Webster, NY; grandchildren, Matthew
Klawonn, Olivia Klawonn, Joshua Ryan and Gracie Ryan. Roger graduated from
Horseheads High School in 1952 and went on to earn a BA from Cornell
University in 1956 (where he played saxophone for Cornell's Big Red Band),
and a Law Degree from Syracuse University in 1959. His professional legal
experience spanned 47 years, beginning with Kenneth L. Shull Law Offices in
Horseheads, NY. He then went on to found the Roger R. Cooper Law Office in
Horseheads where he was Sole Practitioner from 1972 - 1995, and then Senior
Partner and Of Counsel for Cooper and Pautz Law Office. Roger also practiced
Title and Abstracting for 28 years and was the Town of Horseheads Justice of
the Peace for 32 years and Horseheads Village Justice for 15 years. He was a
member of several Legal Associations including the New York State Bar
Association, Chemung County Bar Association (President 1994), Phi Alpha
Delta Legal Fraternity and the New York State Magistrates Association. Civic
activities were also important to Roger as he was a Life Member of Kiwanis
Club International, was a Charter Member of the Kiwanis Club of Horseheads
(President from 1971-1972) and served as Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis'
Chemung Division from 1976-1977. Roger also served as Chairman of the
Finance Committee and Team Leaders Council of the United Methodist Church of
Webster, NY. An avid sports fan, Roger loved his Syracuse Orangemen, Atlanta
Braves, and Detroit Lions. He especially loved rooting for the Orange - GO

COPELAND - HAMILTON
Lois A. (Copeland) Age 66, and formerly of Mathews Circle, Horseheads, died
Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at Barton's Rest Home in Elmira where she had resided.
She was the daughter of the late Harry Powers Copeland and Wilma Eileen
(Magart) Copeland. She was born October 29, 1939 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and
lived in Spokane, Washington for 6 years before marrying an airman. She is
survived by her sisters, Carol Louise and her husband, Donald Ziegler, of
Rathdrum, Idaho, Sharon Lea and her husband, Harold Severson, of Snohomish,
Washington; her foster son, Theodore Alan Osterhout and his wife, Karen, of
Binghamton, New York; her ex-husband, John Alexander Hamilton and his wife,
Sarah, of Leesburg, Florida; her grandson, Eric Ryan Speicher of Andover, NY;
and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Lois was a 1969
graduate of Wilkes College (now Wilkes University), Wilkes-Barre, PA, and a
1974 graduate of Elmira College, Elmira, NY. She taught elementary students for
25 years (2 years in Watkins Glen and 23 in the Addison Central School
District, from which she retired in 1994). She was a member of the National
Council of Supervisors of Mathematics, a 25-year member of the National Council
of Teachers of Mathematics and the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New
York State, for which she participated as a teacher of her peers at several
summer workshops and annual meetings. Lois was also a member of the First
Baptist Church in Horseheads, NY, where she sang in the choir and printed
thousands of certificates for the Horseheads Christian School, a ministry of
the church. Her love, her thoughtfulness, her friendliness and her willingness
to help others were her most memorable characteristics. Her aim in life was
that the light of Jesus should shine through her. She was told by one of her
caregivers during her long stay in St. Joseph's Hospital in 2005: "The
love of Jesus in you draws me to you." Her generous love was an
inspiration to many of those who knew her. Friends are invited to call in the

Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, from 6-7:00 where her memorial service will follow
there in the Sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. The Reverend Robert Finch officiating.

Age 69 of Elmira Heights, NY died on Thursday September 24, 2009. Neal was born
on October 29, 1939 in Elmira, NY the son of Lester and Lucille Wolfgram Corey.
He was a member of the Town and Country Fire Department for 1 year and a member
of the Elmira Heights Fire Department for 41 years. Mr. Corey was a School Crossing
Guard at Cohen School for many years and worked at Lowe's Home Improvement. He
was a former newspaper carrier for the Elmira Star Gazette. Neal was an avid
Buffalo Bills Fan and loved bowling. He was pre-deceased by his father Lester
J. Corey on April 23, 1975, his brother Kyle L. Corey on June 14, 1979 and his

of Horseheads, NY died peacefully in the comfort of her home on July 30, 2013 after a fight with cancer at the age of 65. Pat was born October 25, 1947 in Elmira, NY a daughter of the late Martin and Ann Stopka Corley. She is survived by Donald, her loving husband of 32 years; devoted son Jim Negri of NYC; sisters, Carol (John) Miller of Henrico, VA and Elizabeth (Gary) Corley of Odessa, NY; nieces, Kristen (Lee) Householder, Lisa (John) Nagle and Elizabeth (Brett) Siebenhar; great nieces and nephews, Cassidy, Elizabeth, Glen, Donovan and Brady; special K-9 friend Willie Mays, as well as several cousins. with the Lord and be reunited with her parents, Francis and Wanda, and
son-in-law, Jeremy Heath on Wed. Aug. 16, 2017 after a courageous battle
with cancer. She was born Sept. 29, 1960 in Elmira, NY to the late Francis
and Wanda (Stanton) Courtright. She is survived by her daughters and son,
Megan Heath and her husband Kyle Hodge of Goodview, VA, Jason Hyde with his
wife, Felicia of Fort Belvoir, VA, and Mandi Benjamin with her husband,
Robbie of Horseheads, NY; Grandchildren; Aiden and Ethan Heath; Kaidyn,
Colsen and Quinton Hyde; Ryan, Kaylee, and Owen Benjamin; brother and
sister-in-law, Emmett and Kay Courtright of Horseheads and several extended

employed at Winchester Optical for many years. She was a longtime member of

Age 64 of Allentown, PA formerly of Horseheads, NY died
on Monday March 1, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown, PA. Sandra was
born May 2, 1945 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Stephen W. and Florence
B. Marsh Courtright. Sandy was a graduate of Horseheads High School Class of
1963. She began her career with Wickes Lumber in Horseheads, NY after high
school and retired as an Administrative Coordinator with Wickes Corporation in
Allentown, PA. Sandy was pre-deceased by her parents, her sister Janice
Childers, her brother Stephen E. Courtright, her aunts and uncles Edna &
Leigh Woodhouse, Lila & Robert Smith, Donald & Gavina Marsh, Earl &
Erma Marsh, Claude Marsh, Francis Courtright, Fred Courtright, and George &
Alice Strait. Sandy loved her family and friends and treasured the time she
spent with them. One of Sandy's greatest pleasures was her friendship with
singer Bobby Rydell and following his career since she was a teenager. Sandy
was a Vice President of The Bobby Rydell Fan Club and attended many of his
shows. She loved to read and maintained her many friendships throughout her

COURTRIGHT Stephen Emmet
61, of Viera, FL died on June 8, 2008 in the In-patient Hospice Care Unit of
the Wuesthoff Medical Center Rockledge, FL after a short illness. Stephen was
born in Elmira, NY on April 19, 1947, the only son of Stephen W. and Florence
Marsh Courtright. Stephen was raised in Horseheads, NY and was a 1965 Graduate
of Horseheads High School. In May of 1966 he enlisted in the Air Force where he
spent 21 years in various assignments including a tour of duty in Viet Nam.
Stephen retired from the Air Force in 1987 as a Tech Sergeant. He then went to
work for Northrop Corporation in Los Angeles, CA and spent approximately four
years in Torrence, CA before transferring to Melbourne, FL with
Northrop-Grumman Corporation in the early 1990's. At the time of his death, he
was Logistic Supportability Analysis Manager in the Aerospace Defense Industry
for Northrop-Grumman Corporation. Stephen was an avid golfer. He is survived by
his mother, Florence Courtright of Elmira, NY, his son, Stephen L. (Marcy)
Courtright, granddaughters Allison and Kaitlyn, grandsons Jacob, Zachary, and
Stephen C. all of Panama City, FL, sisters Sharon Buck of Dayton, OH, Sandra
Courtright of Allentown, PA, and MaryLou Courtright of Horseheads, NY. He is
also survived by one niece, three nephews, aunts and several cousins. He was
predeceased by his father Stephen W. and his sister Janice Childers. There will

COVINGTON Margaret C. BERGER
Age 88 of Broad St. in Horseheads and recently of Hellertown, PA died Saturday February 2, 2013 after a brief illness. She was the second of ten children, Margaret was born on December 13, 1924 in Luzerne, KY to Christopher Denton and Veda Chloe (Lovell) Covington. Margaret came to live with an aunt in Elmira at the age of 16 because there were no jobs in Kentucky. During WWII, Margaret worked in an airplane factory as "Rosie the Riveter". After the war, she worked at Bendix-Eclipse and Remington Rand in Elmira, NY. It was at Bendix that she met her future husband, Robert C. Berger who predeceased Margaret on December 3, 2008. The first time he saw her, he told a co-worker that Margaret was the girl he was going to marry. They were married in Green's Chapel, Greenville, KY, on June 30, 1946 and were married for 62 years. Margaret also attended cosmetology school and received a beautician's license, working as a hairdresser (and cutting her sons' hair) for many years. Margaret was devoted to her church, Calvary Baptist Church, now Lighthouse Baptist Church in Horseheads. A charter member, she served the church for fifty years in many different capacities: Sunday School teacher and superintendent, Pioneer Girls Leader, Vacation Bible School and Deaconess. For the past 13 months, Margaret was living at Saucon Valley Manor, an assisted-living facility in Hellertown, PA, to be near family. She is survived by sons, Robert D. (Donna) Berger of Springtown, PA, Ronald (Susan) Berger of Cazenovia, NY; grandchildren, Adam T. (Sabrina) Berger, Emily K. (Todd) Guill, and Julia L. Berger; great grandchildren, Aidan, Rowan, Piper and Marlo Berger; brother, Larry Wayne (Sharon) Covington of Louisville, KY; and several nieces and nephews. –SHIRLEY A. NORQUEST (COWBURN) of Horseheads and Rochester, NY passed away
peacefully on August 4, 2018 at the age of 86. Shirley was born October 28,
1931 in Utica, NY the daughter of George and Martha Cowburn. She is also
predeceased by her husband Thomas, her brother George, his wife Jane, and
her daughters-in-law Shirley and Sheryl. She is survived by her children
Kelly (Monty), Cheryl (Dave), Thomas, and Lawrence; grandchildren Jenessa,
Timothye (Nancy), Tracy (David), David (Kim), and Ashley; multiple great
grandchildren; nephews Rusty (Heather & children) and Matthew (Rebecca &
children); and special friends, Robert and Liz, Thomas (Sarah & children),
Don, Tod & Kate, and Kathi. Shirley retired after over 40 years as a NYS
realtor, broker, and appraiser, working in her own business, Norquest Real
Estate. She is also well remembered in the Elmira/Corning area as a teacher
of real estate sales, brokerage, and appraisal, and was instrumental in many
real estate agents obtaining their real estate and brokerage licenses.
Shirley was a long-time member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in
Horseheads, NY. She recently relocated to Rochester NY and was an active
member of the Episcopal Senior Community, serving on the advisory board and
volunteering at the chapel, and as a mentor to Rochester City School
District students. She was a life member of the Cortland City Chapter #591
Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Elmira/Corning Board of
Realtors, served as president of the NYS Board of Realtors in 1998, and
remained a member in good standing. Shirley was awarded Realtor of the Year
Award in 1994. She was a member of the New York State Society of Real Estate
Appraisers, and obtained Realtor Emeritus status with the National
Association of Realtors. She was also the Director of the Norquest Players.
Following a service at the Episcopal Senior Community Chapel in Rochester
NY, Shirley will be returned to Horseheads, NY and interred in the Maple
Grove Cemetery. The family asks that you join them to celebrate Shirley's
life at Tanino's Restaurant on Friday August 10 at 5:30 PM. In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made in her name to Habitat for Humanity.

pre-deceased her on April 30, 1962. Hazel was also pre-deceased by her second
husband Norton Curtis and by her son David D. Fiala who died on August 31,

Age 72 of Elmira Heights, NY died on Sunday May 29, 2011 at The Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Dick was born December 21, 1938 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Herbert and Beatrice LeBarron Crane. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Joan S. Crane; step-sons and daughters-in-law: Scott (Susan) Stafford and George D. (Carol) Stafford, and special nephew John (Mary) Landis; step grandchildren: Amanda Stafford, Ann (Michael) Kempster and their son Mark, Matthew Stafford and a special (granddaughter) niece Kristin (Dale) Osenbach and their children; sister: Shirley (Richard) Gentili; brothers: David Crane and Howard (Ann) Crane of Washington and Canada. Dick is also survived by his special niece Gillian Hansen and family of Alberta, Canada and others nephews and nieces including step-nieces and nephews Janice Anvoots, Clinton (Bonnie) Landis, and Sharon (Tom) Clark; cousins: Sally Ward and Iris Berguson. He was honored to have inventor-scientist, Dr. Frank Hyde, join him with interest in Dick's experiments. Dr. Hyde visited Corning Inc. when possible following his retirement. Dick achieved a Patent for Corning Inc. before his retirement. He would have received a 50th Year Award from Corning Inc. on June 23, 2011. He served his country with The U.S. Air Force as a Flight Engineer first stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia where he served with The Honor Guard. Then he joined The 1st Tac Recon Wing serving in Germany, England, and Spain. Dick was a member of American Legion Post # 154 in Elmira Heights, NY. Dick married his wife, Joan Landis Stafford Crane, on May 26, 1973 and they celebrated their 38th Wedding on May 26, 2011. Dick later became devoted to the teachings of Bill W. and his family was proud of his recovery and how much he helped young and old who needed encouragement to fight this deadly disease. In later years he enjoyed going to Bob Evans of Corning to eat and appreciate the friendliness of all who worked there and were patrons. Age 68, of Elmira, and formerly of Horseheads, died surrounded by her loving
family on Thurs., March 13, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Carolyn was born
Aug. 19, 1939 in Hornell, NY, the twin daughter to the late Joseph and Velma
(Prentice) Cranmer. She was raised in Canisteo and graduated from Canisteo High
School in 1957. Locally in Horseheads, she was retired from LRC Electronics,
Augat and Thomas & Betts. She was a member of the Buena Vista Wesleyan
Church in Canisteo, NY. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Craig) Field
of Horseheads, NY, Kim (Robert) Hutchison of Raleigh, NC, with their four
children; twin sister, Caroline Cranmer of Elmira, NY, with her daughter, Pam
(Dana Riker) Nicholson, her son, Ryan; sister, Catherine Norton of Canisteo,
NY, and daughter, Cynthia; cousins, Eleanor (Gerald) Williams of Oxford, NY,
and Gerald (Helen) Freeland of Canisteo. She was predeceased by her

30, 2015 at The University of Virginia Medical Center. Devin was born August
24, 1963 in Elmira, NY the son of Ray T. Cranmer and Gloria Ann Sheaffer
Cranmer. He was pre-deceased by his sister Jolene Marie Cranmer on November
27, 1980 and by his father Ray T. Cranmer on December 28, 2013. Devin worked
in the logging business with Jimmy Williams and was presently a plumber with
Breeden Mechanical Inc. in Manassas, VA. Devin is survived by his children

Merritt H. Age 93, of Elmira, NY, died Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at the
Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. Merritt was born in Interlaken, NY, son
of the late Arthur and Ola (Hill) Craven. Merritt retired from Albee Truck Inc.
in Elmira after many years of service. Survivors include his wife, Virginia
(Thornton) of 64 lovely years; daughter, Gloria (William) Proper of Elmira;
son, Philip (Charlene) Craven of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Susan Brown of
SC, Debbie (Tom) Clinton of SC, William (Carrie) Proper of AZ, Donna Proper of
SC, Brian (Kelly) Craven of MD and Rebecca (Michael) Morris of GA; five
great-grandchildren. It was Merritt's request that services were to be held

LOUISE GIUDICE, age 78 of Horseheads passed away Wednesday, October 22,
2014. She was born January 27, 1936 in Lamesa, TX. She is survived by her
husband of 59 years, Vincent Giudice; daughters, Debbie Mitchell of Canton,
GA, Donna Lazeski of Wilmington, NC, Sandra Giudice also of Canton, GA;
grandchildren, Stephanie Mitchell, Matt and Phil Lazeski, and Emily and
Elizabeth Kelley; sisters, Judy (Robert) Tull of Albuquerque, NM, Jean Ann
Crawley of Burleson, TX; brother, Richard (Paula) Crawley of Austin, TX and
several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Douglas
Johnston. Louise was a longtime and dedicated member of the Community
Wesleyan Church in Horseheads. She was a member of the senior ministry club,
former Sunday school teacher and church board member. She was retired from
the Horseheads Central School District where she was their purchasing agent.
Her hobbies include: family gatherings, cooking, gardening, reading, cross
stitching and table games with family and friends. Family and friends are

DUANE MILES CRON, of Athens, was called home to
be with his Lord on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020 at the age of 93. Duane was born on
Jan. 16, 1927 in Johnson City, NY a son of the late Dwight and Gertrude
Daugherty Cron. He was also pre-deceased by older brother, Richard (Dick)
Cron and his wife Carol. Duane served his country honorably with the US Army
Air Corp. and owned and operated Cron Floor Covering for several years. He
was a hard working man but always made time for his family. He is survived
by his loving wife Teresa P. Rouse Cron and they would have celebrated their
67th wedding anniversary on Aug. 17, 2021; daughter Kathy (Bill) Goodwin;

passed away very unexpectedly on Wednesday September 2, 2020 at home. David
was born October 16, 1968 in Bethesda, MD the son of Earl David and Patricia
Miller Crum. He received his Bachelors Degree from SUNY Brockport. David was
pre-deceased by his mother Patricia on June 28, 1997. He was a purchasing
agent for several companies in the area and most recently Siemans in Painted
Post, NY. David loved sports especially The Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins,
Boston Celtics and Miami Dolphins. He especially loved watching his son
Kameron play. David loved his family and friends and treasured the time he
spent with them. He is survived by his loving and devoted companion Melissa

Age 77, of Horseheads, NY, died peacefully with his family by his side on
Monday, November 23, 2009. Michael was born on March 14, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY, son
of the late Michael and Harriet (Roche) Culkin. Michael served our country in
the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from the New York
State Department of Corrections in Elmira, after many years as a Correctional
Officer. Survivors include his daughters, Marsha (Wes Jones) Doyle and Terry
Tobias, both of Elmira, and Kim Barber of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Jacob

Funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 10 am. The Rev. Stephen R. Parr officiating. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, William A. and Joyce Blide, Horseheads, NY, Donald A. and Josephine Blide, Elmira, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Robert I. Benedict of Erin, NY; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Mildred Curns, Horseheads, NY, Gerald Curns, Elmira, NY, Rachel Curns, Horseheads, NY; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Blide was born March 7, 1912 in Elmira, NY the daughter of George and Mary Ward Curns. She was a member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church and a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Horseheads, the Horseheads Fire Auxiliary and UCT. CURTIS FAMILY
John Curtis, my 4gf, was born in Illston-on-Hill, Leics. England on October 19,
1750. He was 22 years old when his father Henry Curtis emigrated. The
family first settled in Otsego County until death took the immigrant Henry in
1812. John moved to White Store, near Norwich, Chenango Co. where he resided on
several farms until 1850. He married first Amy Stillman, dau of Nathan Stillman
of the Rhode Island Baptists. Amy died young after having two children. John
married second Clarissa Clark in 1819. They had six children, John C.
Clarissa, Marquis, Lawrence, Dewitt Clinton, and Marion Many of these children
are buried in Maplegrove in the Curtis plot next to Mosher and Taber plots
families with whom they married. John died April 25, 1857.
Most reknowned of this group was Dewitt Clinton Curtis, lawyer, first police justice, community leader and state officer in the IOOF. He wrote the sketch of his family in History of Chemung County. He was born in White Store 1829 and died 1905.. Dewitt married Hannah Mosher, dau. of Jonathan Mosher, eminent business man in Horseheads. CUYLE - EISENHART, Norma J.
Age 86, of Williamsville and Clarence and formerly a longtime resident of
Westlake St. in Horseheads, died Mon., Aug. 10, 2008. Norma was born June 22,
1922 in Elmira, NY, the daughter to the late Walter and Clara (Lee) Cuyle. She
was predeceased by her husband, Edward Eisenhart; and is survived by her sons
and daughter, Edward and Roberta Eisenhart of East Amherst, NY, John Eisenhart,
Valerie and Greg Schreiber of Davidson, NC; grandchildren, Jenna Pernick,
Samantha (Jordan) Petkozski, Joseph Brotherton, Jasmine (Christopher)
Canestaro; great-grandchildren, Zachary Perrick and Jackson Petkowzski. She was
also predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Petzke; and brother, Walter Cuyle Jr.
Longtime residents of Horseheads, Norma and her husband were members of the
First Presbyterian Church in Horseheads. She was also a retired Lab Technician
at Westinghouse Corp. in Horseheads. Family and friends are invited to call at
the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads, on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008,
from 4-7:00 p.m. Her funeral service will take place at the funeral home on
Friday at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jonathan Knight officiating. Interment will
follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads. Published in the
