Age 64, of North Chemung, died February 13, 2009 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
Daughter of the late George and Gladys (Evertts) Rafferty. Mary is survived by
her husband of 44 years, Michael Masin; children, MaeLynn (David) Dieterle,
North Chemung, Mike (Noel) Masin, Avon, OH; grandchildren, Amanda and Ben
Dieterle, Justin, Brandon, and Cameron Masin; brothers, George A. (Mary)
Rafferty, Gainesville, FL, Robert (Genevieve) Rafferty, Elmira; sisters,
Barbara (Charles) McDermott, Lakeland, FL, Beverly (Richard) Burger, Canisteo,
NY. Mary was an avid quilter and enjoyed a round of golf, a member of the Order
of the Eastern Star chapter #460 as past matron and secretary. In addition to
her parents, Mary is predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Norma (Floyd)
Olin; and brother and sister-in-law, Richard (MaryJane) Rafferty. Family and
friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 South Main St.,
Horseheads, on Monday, February 16, 2009, between the hours of 5-8 p.m. An
Eastern Star services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Her funeral service will be
celebrated at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with interment to follow

RAFFERTY - FIELD, Shelley L.(Rafferty)
Age 52, of Elmira, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 7, 2008. Shelley was
born October 23, 1955, a daughter of Robert and Genevieve May Rafferty of
Elmira. In addition to her parents Shelley is survived by her son and daughter-in-law,
Matthew D. and Kristi Field of Erin with their children, Alysia Merrill and
Jacob Field; son Jason P. Taylor of Elmira; sister and brother-in-law, Sherry
M. and William Raymond of Elmira with their children, William, Jr., Scott
(Stephanie), and Kevin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert E., Jr. and Laurie
Rafferty of Kokomo, IN with their children, Sarah and Joseph; Randy D. and Lisa
Rafferty of Fishers, IN with their children, Joshua and Zachary; great-nephew
Peyton Raymond; along with her extended families at Westside United Methodist
Church and the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Shelley was an X-Ray Technician at
Arnot Ogden Medical Center with 25 years of service. A very spiritual person
she was an active member of Westside United Methodist Church. Friends are

Wednesday, June 11, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

RATHBUN John Larue "Jack" A long time resident of West Ave. Elmira, died Sunday evening, October 29, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital following an illness at the age of 67. Born on July 1, 1939 in Sayre, PA. Jack was the son of John A. & Anna Louise Lathrop Rathbun. He was employed at the Elmira Correctional Facility for nearly 20 years until his retirement and served as a past Union President. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #378 of Big Flats where he was a Past Master and D.S.A. having received the Distinguished Service Award. Jack served his country in the United States Navy from 1956-1960. He was an avid outdoorsmen. Surviving is his loving family, daughters, Robin (Bob) Terry, Penny (Chris) Rice, and Laura (Doug) Fry; his mother, Anna L. Rathbun; a sister, Susie (Bill) McGee; brothers, Ray Rathbun and Darwin (JoAnn) Rathbun; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a friend and companion, Coni Hill. Jack was predeceased by his father, John A. Rathbun and his brother, Marvin Rathbun. Mildred Irene formerly of Miller Street Was born August 28, 1911 in
Brownsville, PA, the daughter of the late Sanford and Ruth Ann (Simpson)
Redmond. Mildred went home to be with her Lord, peacefully on Monday, July 3,
2006, at the Dove Health Care Facility in Lake Wales, FL at the age of 94. Her
loving husband, Alfred Shock and beloved son, Roger Shock, predeceased her. She
is survived by her much-loved children and their spouses, Arthur and Lorraine
Shock of Wellsburg, NY, Everett and Elsie Shock of Wellsburg, NY, Leonard and
Barbara Shock of Horseheads, NY, Robert and Blanche Shock of Wellsburg, NY,
David and Theresa Shock of Haines City, FL, Darlene and William Smith of Lake

REEVES Alta Marie OSLAGER, age 84 of Gillett, PA
died on Thursday, June 28, 2001 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born
March 22, 1917 in Milan, PA the daughter of the late Henry Alton and Elizabeth
Marie (Eastabrook) Reeves. Alta was employed for several years by the
Troy Area Jointure Cafeteria as a cook, spending most of her time in
Mosherville, PA. She was a member of the Coryland Church for numerous
years. She is survived by her husband of 62 years. Clayton;
daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn Marie and Leland Robert Purvis of
Horseheads, NY; Norma and Ernie Chaapel of Gillett, PA; son and
daughter-in-law, Daniel and Eyleen Oslager of Gillett, PA; aunt Fanny Impson of
Corning, NY; close friend Ruth Congdon of Elmira, NY 16 grandchildren, 44 great
grandchildren and many cousins. Funeral services were held at the Olthof
Funeral Home, Inc. in Elmira, NY on July 1, with the Reverend Charles Root

REEVES Shirley Ann Howard
Age 68 of Pine City, NY went home peacefully with her
Lord on March 28, 2012. Shirley was born October 3, 1943 in Hornell, NY the
daughter of the late William and Margaret Stewart Reeves. She was pre-deceased
by her daughter: Tammy Renee Howard on August 6, 1968 and by her brother Fred
Burdick of Elmira Heights, NY. Shirley is survived by her loving and devoted
husband of 52 years Paul A. Howard; her sons: Paul (Margie) Howard II and Rick
Howard of Elmira, NY; sisters: Audrey (Bradley) Mesler of Bath, NY; Eva
(Leslie) Gray of Collierville, TN; and Cathy (Dennis) Greeno of Elmira, NY;

Helen M., Remington Rand Retiree, Age 96, of Chemung County Nursing Facility,
Elmira, NY, died on Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, August and Mary Reich; along with sister,
Amelia; and brothers, Otto and August Jr. She is survived by her loving
daughter, Doris Finch; grandchildren, Jacquelyn Earley of Millerton, PA, Sherri
Merritt of St. Thomas, USVI, Gary and Loren Finch of Elmira, NY; nine
great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Georgianna Mathews;
and several nieces and nephews. Helen was a hard working lady throughout her
life. She retired from the Remington Rand Company of Elmira, NY, after many
years of service. Family and friends will be received at Olthof Funeral Home,
Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., on Sunday, September 9, 2007, from 1:00 to 3:00
p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Funeral Service there Monday at 11:00 a.m. The

REILLY Margaret E. Gardner
Age 97, died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility.
Margaret was born September 11, 1913 a daughter of John and Frances
(Flamensfeld) Reilly. She is predeceased by her husband Frederick C. Gardner.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Dr. Richard C. Gardner of Gloucester, MA, and
John F. Gardner of Elmira; grandchildren, Jacalyn Gardner, Christine
Stansfield, Christopher Gardner, and Julie McKernan; along with 4
great-grandchildren. A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial
Park. Margaret's family offers sincere thanks to the 3rd floor staff at the

REYNOLDS Elizabeth R. "Betty" Cook
Of Horseheads, NY, died peacefully on Wednesday, February
29, 2012, at Bethany Manor at the age of 82. Betty was born on August 18, 1929
in Elmira, NY, a daughter of the late Ralph and Carolyn Hartman Reynolds. Betty
was employed at Westinghouse as a switchboard operator. She is survived by her
husband of 59 years, Lewis Cook; daughter, Tanya Cook (Jim Stewart) of Welch,
WV; sons, Bruce (Theresa) Cook of Syracuse, NY and Roy (Michelle) Cook of
Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Scott, Christopher, Matthew, Mary and Tyler;
great-grandchildren, Tristan and Alizander; daughter-in-law, Chris Cook of
Chippewa Falls, WI; sister-in-law, Florence Reynolds; and several nieces,
nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Lee; nephew, Richard;
brothers, Ralph and Robert; and sister, Rosalie. The family will welcome

Age 87, of Elmira Heights, NY, died on Sunday, January 17, 2010, at Elcor
Health Services. She was born on December 9, 1922 in Elmira Heights, NY to the
late Ralph and Caroline (Hartman) Reynolds Sr. Rosalie was predeceased by her
brothers, Ralph Jr. and Robert Reynolds; and nephew, Lee Cook. Survivors
include her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Lewis Cook of Horseheads;
sister-in-law, Florence Reynolds of Horseheads; nieces and nephews, Suzanne
(Tom) Radford of Horseheads, Richard Reynolds of Elmira Heights, Doug (Dawn)
Reynolds of Coral Gables, FL, Sharon (Kenny Jr.) Theetgee of Cayuta, Tanya Cook
of Welch, WV, Bruce (Theresa) Cook of Baldwinsville and Roy (Michelle) Cook of
Horseheads; several great-nieces, nephews and cousins; close friend, Joyce
Wilson. Rosalie was a member of the West Hill Community Cabin and Home Bureau
and also the First United Church of Christ in Elmira. She enjoyed knitting,
crocheting and other crafts as well as caring for her many plants. Family and

Age 88 of Bush Ave. Horseheads died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Bethany Manor. Marcia was born June 6, 1925 in Elmira, NY to George and Vera (Palmer) Rietmann. She is survived by her husband Homer Finley; Her children, Marc (Mary Beth) MacClaren of Holley, NY, Kirk (Dorothy) MacClaren of Sylvania, PA, Joel (Darcy) MacClaren of Madison, CT, Jon (Chris Sink) MacClaren of Sheffield, MA and Elizabeth (Gerald) Burton of Apalachin, NY; step-son, Daniel (Terri) Finley of Boulder, CO; many Grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother and sisters, Nancy (Dennis) Hutchinson, Robert Rietmann and Marylou Pottinger. Marcia was a graduate of Southside High School and Rochester Business Institute. She was retired from Deister & Butler Jewelers in Elmira. Marcia was also a member of Horseheads First Presbyterian Church. RHODE - ELSTON Mary L.
Age 90, of Federal Rd., Lowman, died Monday, February 1, 2010, at Elcor Health
Services. Survived by son, Wilson (Greta) Elston, Jr., Chemung; daughters,
Frances Amey, Elmira, Susan Elston, Millerton, PA; grandchildren, Doug and Rich
Elston, Mike and Matt Davis, DJ and Darren Amey; 10 great-grandchildren,
several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by husband of 70 years, Wilson
in 2009; "Brother" and best friend, Herschel Rhode. Mary was a former
employee of the Remington Rand and Eclipse and a self-employed Dairy farmer.
The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, February 4th at the
Kalec Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Her funeral service there Friday at 11 a.m.
Pastor Anne Mowery, Officiating. Burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park

RHODE Paul A., Jr.
Age 87 of Elmira, NY. He was born September 6, 1920 in Elmira, son of the late
Paul A., Sr. and Eva (Auffhamer) Rhode and died Friday, June 27, 2008, at home
surrounded by his loving family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased
by his sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Charles Ruhmel. He is survived by
his loving wife of 66 years, Delores (Comfort) Rhode; children and their
spouses, Sharon and Tony Minotti of Naples, FL, Sheila and Bill Campbell of
Sayre, PA, Les and Joyce Rhode of Penn Yan, NY, Larry and Kathy Rhode of
Horseheads; grandchildren, Randy and Teresa Minotti, Cheryl and Greg Townsend,
all of Naples, FL, Jennifer and Heath Williams of Columbus, OH, Jason and Sasha
Campbell of Huntersville, NC, Larry Rhode, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Kim and Mike
Rozell of Watkins Glen, NY, Brian Decker of Syracuse, NY, Liz Rhode and Mike
Rhode, both of Penn Yan, NY; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Vincent Minotti,

Harrison of Elmira. Paul retired in 1982 from the Elmira City Fire Department
with over 32 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air
Corps. After graduating from Southside High School he was employed at Hardinge,
Inc. for 10 years, that being interrupted by his service in the Army. He was a
member of the American Legion Post 443, Elmira. Paul enjoyed spending summers
with his family at their cottage on Keuka Lake and after his retirement, he and
Delores wintered in Naples, FL. Paul was admired by his family and friends for
his uncanny ability to master and fix anything he put his mind to. Family and
friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at
Washington Ave., Elmira on Monday, June 30th from 5 to 8 p.m. His funeral
service will be held there on Tuesday, July 1st at 11 a.m. Committal prayers

RICE William D. (Bill) Age 66, of Montour Falls, NY, died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Bill was born April 19, 1939 in Cortland NY, son of Francis and Frances Lusk Rice. Bill served in the US Air Force and was retired from Elmira Local 1358. Bill married Kay Prichard June 3, 1960 in Bath, NY. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Millport, NY, and had served on the board of trustees, was a member of the Elmira Heights American Legion, and the Montour Moose Lodge #426. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and following the NY Yankees. Bill especially enjoyed researching and searching for relics and treasure. Surviving Bill are his loving wife of 45 years, Kay of Montour Falls; sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark Daniel Rice of Montour Falls, Dennis Scott and Judith Rice of Pfafftown NC; a daughter, Holly Kay Rice of Corning; brothers, James (Azuba) Rice of Horseheads, Michael (Anitra) Shay of Montour Falls; a sister-in-law, Karen Rice of Egan, MN; several grandchildren, several great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews; along with his faithful canine, Lucy. Age 84, of Canal St., Big Flats, passed away Dec. 22, 2012 at Corning Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph; sons, Jay and Steve. RIKER Bruce L. Age 62 of McDowell Place, Elmira NY, died Friday May 11 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Bruce was born December 12, 1938, son of Alfred Sr. and Achash Gorton Riker. Together with his wife, they owned and operated Riker's Restaurant in Elmira Heights for 7 years. In the past he was employed as a security guard with National Homes, a member of the Elmira Heights Jaycees, and was retired from Totem Taxi after 28 years of service as a driver. He enjoyed model shipbuilding and painting with both oil and watercolor. Bruce formerly attended Maranatha Bible Chapel and was an active participant in the Oasis Church in Elmira. Surviving Bruce are his wife of 38 years, Elaine Byam Riker; a daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina and Tony Rosa of Hendersonville TN; sons and daughter-in-law: Nevil and Joanne Riker of Gallitin TN; LaMonte Riker of New York City; Adriel Riker of Elmira, Moriah Riker of Hornell; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. RINWALSKE Donald Eugene
of Elmira and in recent years the CCNF died Friday January 6, 2012 after a brief illness at St. Joseph's Hospital. The son of the late Leo and Ethel (Erickson) Rinwalske, he is survived by his wife of 58 years Ida (Morris) Rinwalske; children Debra Brenzo, David (Donna) Rinwalske and Darlene (Peter) Batrowny; Grandchildren Karla Brenzo, Erica (David) Loomis, Beth (Yousef) Rinwalske-Janu, Brandon Rinwalske, Alana and Andrew Batrowny; Great Grandchildren Shelby, Emma, Jackson, Brady Loomis and Kyler, Kayda, Kamya Brenzo. He is also survived by sister Mary Ann (Francis) Greblewski , brother Leo Rinwalske, plus several nieces, nephews and their families. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Margaret, brother in law James and niece Linda LeMunyan. Donald attended Elmira schools; worked for Gerard Motors; served in the Army then spent most of his working years in his family towing business (Rinwalske Towing). He had many friends, a great sense of humor, was always quick with a comment, a special name, a smile or helping hand. He was also a very determined man. In August 1969 at the age of 40 Donald survived a near fatal accident while towing a bulk milk tanker down a steep grade in Burlington Township. He was given 2 weeks to live and after 8 months in a coma he proved everyone wrong when he woke up, learned to walk, talk, eat and especially drive. You would see him driving around town in his "Hot Rod" Lincoln or Ford…never a Chevy. The family would like to extend a huge thank you to Special Friend Doris Baker. Family will provide flowers. IDA F. RINWALSKE age 86 of Elmira, NY.
She was born July 12, 1929 in Collingsdale, PA daughter of the late Elmer
and Ida (Swartley) Morris and went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 3,
2015 at her home after a battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her
husband Donald in 2012; stepfather Fred Potter; sisters June, Kay and Betty
and is survived by her children: Debra Brenzo, David (Donna) Rinwalske and
Darlene (Peter) Batrowny; grandchildren: Karla Brenzo, Erica (David) Loomis,
Beth (Yousef) Rinwalske-Janu, Brandon (Samantha Harris) Rinwalske, Alana
(Brian Jackson) Batrowny and Andrew Batrowny; 10 great grandchildren;
sisters: Florence (Don) Winch; brothers: Stanley (Ruth) Potter and Leroy
(Patti) Potter along with several nieces and nephews and their families.

Age 80, of Pine City, NY, died June 12th, 2011 at the
Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Margaret was the daughter of the late Leo L. and
Ethel (Erickson) Rinwalske. She was born in Elmira the 26th day of June in
1930. She is predeceased by her husband, James Philip LeMunyan in 1995; and her
daughter, Linda LeMunyan in 2009. Surviving Margaret is her loving daughter and
son-in-law, Laura (Gary) Nuss of Pine City, NY; grandchildren, Stacy and Kyle
Nuss of Pine City and Eric Weigel of Horseheads; brothers, Donald (Ida)
Rinwalske of Elmira, Leo R. Rinwalske of Elmira; sister, Mary Ann (Francis)
Greblewski of Elmira and Melvin Weigel of Horseheads, NY; and several nieces
and nephews. Margaret focused most of her life providing a loving home for her

GEORGE C. ROBERTSHAW age 74 of 1513 Fisherville Road, Elmira, NY, Saturday, May 7, 1994 at St. Joseph’s Hospital following a short illness. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Robertshaw was employed as an electrician at Thatcher Glass in Elmira for 12 years and then he was self-employed as an electrician in the Elmira area. Millport passed away after a brief illness on Sat. Nov. 22, 2014 at the

"Mary" (Hess) Robinson. She was predeceased by her mother, Mary and is
survived by her father, Ellsworth "Pete" Robinson; also surviving are
sisters, Dotty (Ron) McClure of Covington, PA, Mary (Kent) MacDonald of
Columbia Cross Roads, PA; nieces, uncles and cousins. Jane was a wonderful
daughter and great aunt to five wonderful nieces. She enjoyed making all
sorts of pictures of butterflies and was an Avon representative for over 30

73, of Elmira, NY died on Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Arnot Ogden Medical
Center. She was the loving wife of the late Russell F. Stout, Sr. who died on
August 24, 2002. The couple married on September 28, 1956 and had 46 happy
years together. Pearl was born on August 13, 1937 in Elmira, daughter of the
late Earl and Laura (Seeley) Robinson. She was a graduate of the Elmira Free
Academy. Pearl enjoyed singing and playing with her husband, Russell. Pearl was
a homemaker, but moreover she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband
Russell Sr.; her daughter, Cory M. Stout; and her sisters, Lelia Cronpton and
Janette Robinson. She is survived by her children, Nancy (David) South of Todd,

his brothers, Thomas and James Rockwell. Wes is survived by his loving and
devoted wife of 40 years, Marilyn Eloise Scott Rockwell; daughter K. Sue

Age 78, of Roman Road, Elmira, NY. He was born February 9, 1931 in Elmira, son
of the late Charles and Julia (Dropeck) Roman and died Wednesday, April 22,
2009, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. He was predeceased by his
brothers and sisters, Lawrence, Michael, Nicholas, Frank, Andrew, twin sister
Anna, John Roman and Mary Hoodak. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 51
years, Marlene (Sheive); sisters and brothers, Sophie Hatala of Lowman, Stephen
Roman of Elmira, Pauline Roman of Millville, NJ and Wesley Roman of Elmira;
special sister-in-law, Agnes Joan Roman; sisters-in-law, Patricia and Ella
Roman, all of Elmira; along with several nieces and nephews, including special
nieces, Julia Yusko and Rose Roman. Harry was a veteran of the U.S. Army,
serving with the 18th Infantry (The Big Red One) in Germany during the Korean
Conflict. He retired from General Electric with 27 years of service and was a

ROMAN –SOPHIE ROMAN ‘BABA’ HATALA, age 88, of Hardscrabble Rd. passed away on March 5th 2016 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. Sophie was born on June 17th 1927 in Elmira, daughter of the late Wasyl and Julia (Dropski) Roman. Sophie lived on Hardscrabble Road most of her life and loved the outdoors. She worked at Thatcher Glass and then spent her married life at home working the family farm and caring for her children and loved every minute of it. She loved to cook, cross stitch and spend time with her family. Sophie is survived by her children, Paul (Kimberly) Hatala, Helen Steiner and Katherine (Michael) Stanton; grandchildren, Paulie and Carrie Hatala, Mandy Steiner Clark and Brian Steiner; siblings, Steve, Wesley and Pauline Roman; several nieces and nephews. ROSAR Deloris Elizabeth (Rosar) Dunham
Age 94 of Horseheads, rejoined her family on Saturday, April 28, 1012. Deloris was born in Elmira June 6, 1917, daughter of the late Christy Rosar Sr. and Cecile Randall. She was predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Cummingham, on April 1, 2012 and brother Christy Rosar in 2006. Deloris lived most of her life in Syracuse working for Oneida Colleges as a bookkeeper. After her retirement without painting classes she became a self-taught painter of both portraits and beautiful scenery paintings. Deloris is survived by Darlene Moses of Elmira, her friend and personal caregiver for the last 4 years. To Shara Buell and Staci Coley of Elmira, thank you for your devoted and loving care you gave. ROSE Raymond C. "Ray" Age 69, of Wellsburg, NY, passed at home Wed., Feb. 7, 2007. Ray was born Oct. 2, 1937, the son of the late Carlton and Annabelle (Barton) Rose. His surviving family includes his children, Robert Rose of Avon Park, FL, and Rae Carol Millar of Stillwater, TN; brother and sisters, Rodney (Karen) Rose of Van Etten, NY, Geraldine (Ed) Nero of Homosassa, FL, and Lillian (Rich) Golden of Erin, NY; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including Louis Rose of Homosassa, FL. In addition to his parents, Ray was also predeceased by his sister, Sheila Stage. He was a graduate of Van Etten Central School in 1955 and a Veteran of the US Army serving in Troop A of the 17th Calvary 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He was a member of the Teamsters Union having driven for Flickinger's and Dairylea. A longtime resident to Wellsburg he was a frequent patron of Tomahawk Restaurant, Wellsburg Diner, and especially Maple Lawn Dairy. He was also a NASCAR fan. Monday, December 2, 1991. Sheila was a member of the Bentley Creek Baptist
Church. She is survived by her husband, George A. Stage; her mother, Mrs.

ROSENBERRY Ned E. Rosenberry
Age 80, of Wellsburg, NY, died unexpectedly at the Arnot
Ogden Medical Center Wednesday, April 25th, 2012. Ned is survived by his loving
wife of 57 years, Ruth Rosenberry; beloved daughters, Linda (Thomas) Yusko of
Elmira and Lois (Scott) Kaminsky, also of Elmira; four grandchildren, Lori,
Jason, Peter, Leigh, and several great-grandchildren; sister, Donna (Robert)
Decker of Levittown, PA; brother, Gary (Lorraine) Rosenberry of Dushore, PA;
sisters-in-law, Frances Rosenberry of Dushore, PA and Anna Rosenberry of
Towanda, PA. In addition to his parents, Ned is also predeceased by his
brothers, Richard and Lester. Ned was born in Chambersburg, PA February 9th,
1932. He worked as a supervisor here in Elmira at Artistic Card for many years.
He was a devoted husband and loving father who loved to hunt and enjoyed
snowmobiling in the winter. He also enjoyed playing the guitar, bird watching,
and helping others whenever he could. Ned was a devoted member of Bethany
Lutheran Church who served on the property committee and sang in the choir for
many years. His church was very important to him. He will always be remembered
as a very strong person with a kind and gentle heart. Ruth and Ned loved their
many wonderful dinners they shared at Maple Lawn Dairy. Family and friends are

ROSS Helen A. Age 102 formerly of 916 South Main Street Horseheads, NY died on Tuesday July 4, 2006 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility in Elmira, NY. Helen was born August 23, 1903 in Erin, New York the daughter of the late Lewis and Annie Drake Ross. She was also pre-deceased by her sisters and brother Mabel C. Little, Howard Ross, Mildred R. Simkin, and Alice R. Brubaker. Helen was the oldest member of The First United Methodist Church of Horseheads having been a member for over 82 years. She joined the Horseheads Grange # 1118 in December 1925 and has been a member for over 80 years. Helen was also a member of Pomona Grange # 1. Helen began her teaching career teaching in rural schools and continued her career at Edgeworth School in Elmira from which she retired after 42 years of teaching. She was a member of The New York State Retired Teachers Association, and the Horseheads Historical Society. Helen loved flowers and gardening and working with the Earth. Helen loved her family, friends, and neighbors and enjoyed the time she spent with them. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great grand nieces, great grand nephews and a host of caring friends and neighbors including her nephew Wayne G. Brubaker of Horseheads, NY and her grandniece Alice Marie Brubaker Smith of West Virginia and great grandnieces Laken Marie Smith and Cheyenne Kayla Smith. her greatly. Joyce was born on January 14, 1938 in Dansville, NY and has
lived all of her adult life in the Elmira/Big Flats area. Joyce retired from
the NYS Court System, working in Elmira City Court. Joyce also worked for
many years as a court assistant to Judge John V. Moore in the Town of West
Elmira. She worked part-time for the records department with the Elmira City
Police Department and most recently worked part-time with the Town of West
Elmira. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 4 pm
to 7 pm with a funeral service to follow at 7 pm at Olthof Funeral Home,
1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira. Burial will be at the convenience of the
family in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the

ROUCEK Eleanor (Roucek) Wilson
Age 94 and formerly of Millerton, PA, died July 25, 2011
at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born July 13, 1917 in Binghamton, NY, to
Joseph and Antoinette Roucek, immigrants from Czechoslovakia. On August 15,
1936, she married the love of her life, Tremaine Wilson. They were married for
68 years, until his death in 2004. For many years they had a dairy farm in
north Chemung. Eleanor was an avid organist, enjoying church hymns, old
standards and polkas. She and Tremaine performed frequently as musicians in the
Elmira area, Eleanor on the accordion and Tremaine on guitar and harmonica.
Among many other things, she will also be remembered for her quick sense of
humor and her delicious meals. After retiring in 1978, they moved south to be
near their children, living first in Dillard, GA, and then Toccoa, GA.
Returning north in 1991, they bought a house near Millerton, PA. Eleanor moved
to Pine City in 2005. or was the last survivor of her five siblings. A
cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by her
children Camille (Melvin) Cummings of Kennesaw, GA, Terry (Patsy) Wilson of
Dillard, GA, and Connie Wilson of Pine City. She is also survived by her
grandchildren Jodi (Dale) Roper of Charlottesville, VA, Kevin (Laura) Cummings
of Elmira, NY, Greg (Judi) Wilson of Augusta, GA, Kelly (Theresa) Wilson of
Franklin, NC, Josh (Samantha) Wilson of Boone, NC, and Jessica (Dereck) Jones
of Franklin, NC. Eleanor was further blessed with nine great-grandchildren:
Brian Roper, Michael Roper, Daniel Cummings, Carter Wilson, Tanner Wilson,
Reagan Wilson, Mallory Wilson, Addison Wilson and Peyton Jones. The

Louis M. Rought, 66, of Horseheads, NY died June 12, 1990 at the Arnot
Ogden Hospital in Elmira. Mr. Rought was born September 22, 1923 in Troy, PA,
the son of the late Bert and Thelma Snyder Rought. She was a 1940 graduate of
Troy High School. He was a truck driver, working for Empire Foods and
Chemung Food for 36 years. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Hart Rought;
three children; brother and sister-in-law, Burton and Jean Rought of Reno, NV;
sisters and brothers-in-law, Marcheta and Franklin Krise of Horseheads, NY, Winona

NY. He was born June 5, 1931 in Mansfield, PA, son of the late Lee J. and

surrounded by his family. In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased
by his dear wife, Evelyn, along with two brothers and two sisters. He is
survived by his daughter, Barbara (John) Carlson with her children, Nicki
(Jessica), Brittany (Rob) and great grandchildren; Novalee, Brianna, Seth,
Isabella, Evelyn; his son: Edwin (Christie) Rounsville and his children,
Typhanie, Seth, Hannah; as well as great grandson, Andrew; his brother,
Richard A. Rounsville; along with several loving nieces, nephews, and
cousins. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Fred's aide, Trista
Ranck, for all her care and support. He was a member of Calvary Baptist
Church in Corning, as well as a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served a
Corporal and a Radio Operator in the Korean War. Fred retired as a Plant

Age 86, on January 18, 2011, Rusty died at the Arnot
Ogden Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Richard C. and Helen L.
(Gutchess) Rowe. Rusty was born in Elmira, January 7, 1925. She is survived her
daughter and son-in-law, Dee Ann (Verle) Harper of Elkins, WV; 4 grandchildren
and 8 great-grandchildren. Rusty is predeceased by her daughter, Catherine
Gerrard; and husband, Eldred Bortle. Rusty enjoyed her life. She was a
wonderful wife, loving mother and grandmother. She found great joy in her
membership in the Harmony-Loyal Order of Eastern Star #265 O.E.S. and the
Grotto Club with her husband Eldred. They shared countless wonderful memories.
She had a profound love for all animals. It was Rusty's wish that all her
funeral services remain private. She will be laid to rest next to her dearly
missed husband Eldred and daughter Catherine in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park,

Formerly of Shannon Ave - Was born August 20, 1922 in Sidney, NY, the daughter
of the late Ralph E. and Estella Mae (Butler) Rozelle, died peacefully with her
loving daughter by her side on Sunday, February 15, 2009, at St. Joseph's
Hospital SNF at the age of 86. Her first husband, Frank S. Allen, and her
second husband, Edwin F. Thayer, predeceased her. She was also preceded in
death by her brothers, Ralph and Wendell Rozelle; sister, Faye Marie Lohr.
Mabel is survived by her loving children, Joyce (Allen) Tice of Elmira, NY;
Ralph E. (Jane) Allen of Horseheads, NY; beloved grandchildren, Christopher
(Evelyn) Austin of Big Flats, NY, Heather (Gerald) Youmans Jr. of Horseheads,

NY; adored great-grandchildren, Connor Youmans, Emily Austin, Lauren Grace

the Elmira City School District after several years of dedicated service as a
cafeteria manager, with Parley Coburn being her last place of employment. She

Auxiliary in Elmira Heights. Mabel was best known for her love for dancing as
well as being a dance instructor. Her greatest passion in life was ballroom
dancing. Above all else, she was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, and special friend to many people. It was Mabel's wishes
that there be no prior calling hours. Services celebrating her life and
officiated by her friend, Deacon George Welch, will take place privately.
Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Park will also take place privately at the

Congdon, sisters, Gertrude Mozrall, Mary Colgan & Helen Gillett & niece Bonnie Lou Miller. She is survived by niece & god-daughter Nancy (James) Danaher of Horseheads, nephews & god-son, John (Lorraine) Mozrall of E. Aurora, NY; nieces; Carole (Dave) Shay, Catherine Hanrahan of Elmira, Susan Senn-Cigos of Shokan, NY, Betty Joan Allen of Reno, Nevada, Patricia Heist of Millport, nephews: Calvin Gillette, & Kenneth K. RUMSMOKE Dale Conrad Rumsmoke
79, of Lynchburg Virginia, died Thursday December 6, 2012. He was the husband of Jacqueline Lovell Rumsmoke. Dale was born October 29, 1933 in Constancia, NY a son of the late Lester Charles Rumsmoke and the late Eleanor Williams Rumsmoke. Dale honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was active in the Blue Ridge Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, was serving as President of the Hersy Basham/Hill City Magicos Assembly #32 of the Society of American Magicians, and was a past-president of the local union of the International Alliance of Theatrical & Stage Employee's, and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son David J. Rumsmoke and his wife Kim of Evington, his daughter Rebecca Ann Rumsmoke of Lynchburg, his brother Garth L. Rumsmoke of Elmira Heights, NY, five grandchildren; David, Christopher, Kayla, Ariel, and Nichole, and two great-grandchildren. RUSSELL - JESSUP, Marguerite E.
Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother
Formerly of Crestview Drive, Pine City, NY, was born September 19, 1926 in
Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late William and Violet Mae (Wenzel) Russell,
died peacefully on Sunday, December 9, 2007, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center,
surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 81. Marguerite (Greenwalt)
married Harold Leighton Jessup, January 21, 1923 at the Oakwood Avenue United
Methodist Church in Elmira Heights, NY and celebrated 55 wonderful years of
life and love together, prior to his passing, December 5, 2005. Her
sister-in-law, Patricia Jessup also predeceased her. She is survived by her
beloved children, Marcia (Dennis) Boor of Elmira, NY, Laurie Jessup of Cary,
NC, Michael (Amy) Jessup of Scotia, Melanie (Robert) Cassarly of Elmira, NY;
much loved grandchildren, Kelli (Brett) French, Jeremy Boor and Ryan Boor, all of
Elmira, NY, Kelsey Jessup and Skyler Jessup, both of Scotia; adored
great-granddaughter, Olivia Rose French; brother, Russell (Rita) Greenwalt of
Painted Post, NY; sister-in-law, Donna Jean Benedict of Fort Meyers, FL;
brother-in-law, Walter Jessup of Caton, NY; along with several nieces, nephews
and friends. Marguerite was employed by the Town of Southport as a clerk in the
Assessor's office for several dedicated years. She was a shop-a-holic, enjoyed
her crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. The family will receive friends
on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050
Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Following the visitation,
everyone is welcome to join the Jessup family for a celebration of both Harold
and Marguerite's lives. Lay Pastor Robert Townson will officiate. Interment
will be held privately at the convenience of the family in the Forest Lawn
Memorial Park where Marguerite will be laid to rest with her beloved Harold. In
lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Susan G. Komen for

RUTH - BEGELL Anna M. (Ruth)
Loving Wife and Mother - Age 34, of Elmira, NY, died December 23, 2009 very unexpectedly
at home. Anna is survived by her loving husband, Christopher Begell; her
daughters, Kimberly Whitaker, Kylie Rhodes of Rochester; step sons, Dylan and
Logan Begell; mother, Connie Ruth Vergeson; sister, Brenda Ryan; as well as
several nieces and nephews, all of Elmira, NY. She was predeceased by her
father, Edward Ruth. Anna adored her dogs, "Akasha" and
"LaBatte". She was a loving wife and mother who loved to read in the
comfort of her own home. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof
Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY 14904 Wednesday,
December 30th, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will remain

Betty M. Age 77, of Elmira Heights, NY, died Thursday, September 28, 2006, at
the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Betty was born May 17, 1929 in Mount Union, PA,
daughter of the late George and Margaret (Lyter) Rutter. Betty retired from
Thatcher Glass after many years of service. Survivors include her daughter,
Barbara Ann (Michael) Widmyer of Lewistown, PA; son, Raymond (Carol) Whitsel
Sr. of Elmira; stepsons, Raymond Kirkendall of Elmira, and Curtis Kirkendall of
Eugene, OR; sisters, Goldie Graciano of Harrisburg, PA, Anna Shingler of Mill
Creek, PA, and Violet Hughes of Allenport, PA; brothers, Clarence Rutter of
Three Springs, PA, Kelly (Mable) Rutter of Newton Hamilton, PA, Jack (Annette)
Rutter of Elmira, and Robert Rutter of Corning, NY; grandsons, Raymond Whitsel
Jr. and Bryan Ellis, both of Elmira. Betty was predeceased by her husband, John
in 2004; sister, Mary Rosenberry; brother, Elmer Rutter. Family and friends are
invited to a graveside service on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at 1 p.m. in

RYAN –SHEILA
RYAN HARRIS age 72 of Wellsburg, passed away Fri. Jan. 23, 2015 at
Arnot-Ogden Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. Born
on Jan. 31, 1942 in Wellsboro, PA; Sheila was the daughter of the late,
William & Edna Campbell Ryan. She married Robert L. Harris on July 25, 1970
and he predeceased her on Nov. 25, 2004. Sheila was employed by EOP Head
Start for many years, was a homemaker, enjoyed arts, crafts and sewing. She
is survived by her loving family, sons, Mike (Mary Sullivan) Treat, Chemung;
Scott Treat, Elmira; one grandson, Dylan Treat, Elmira; sisters, Dianna
(Dan) Pastrick, Horseheads; Deborah Brink, FL; brother, Kevin (Diane)
Rogers, Elmira; aunt, Laura Powers, Pine City; nieces, nephews and loving
friends. Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home &
Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport/Elmira, NY on Tues. Jan. 27, 2015 between
the hours of 4-6 p.m. funeral services will follow the visitation at 6:15
p.m. Interment will take place at the family's convenience in Forest Lawn

RYGWALSKI ANN S. ISAACS
Ann S. Age 90, of Fisherville, NY, died on September 25, 2006. Ann was born on
May 21, 1916 in Morris Run, PA to the late Bernard and Sophie (Swjcihowski)
Rygwalski. Ann was predeceased by her husband, David Isaacs in 1973; sons,
David and Richard Isaacs; brother, Edward Ringwalski; and sisters, Agnes Marsh
and Veronica McQuestin. Survivors include her daughters, Jo Ann (Robert) Decker
of North Fork, CA, and Barbara Williams and family of CT; son, Jack Isaacs of
New Orleans, LA; grandchildren, Robert Decker, Melanie Isaacs, Tracy Mustico
and Peggysue Potter; nephew, Harry Marsh; sister-in-law, Betty Butler. Family
and friends are invited to call on Friday, September 29th, from 1 to 4 p.m. at
the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m.
Committal prayers and interment will take place on Monday, October 2nd, at 10
a.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
