PABIS Mary Ann Pabis Jenkins
age 93 of Horseheads, NY died on Monday December 26, 2011. Mary was born September 18, 1918 in Elmira, New York the daughter of the late Michael and Agnes Thomidy Pabis. She married her husband, Daniel T. Jenkins Sr., on August 15, 1934 and he pre-deceased her on March 25, 2001 after nearly 67 years of marriage. Mary was also pre-deceased by brothers and sisters Joseph Pabis, Francis "Hank" Pabis, Helen Pabis, Veronica Drake, Leona Rybak, Max Pabis, Leon Pabis, and Sophia Sleeper as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law George W. Poley, Barbara Ann (Mrs. William) Morse, and Douglas Poley. Mrs. Jenkins was a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads, NY. Mary and her husband Dan owned and operated Danny's Coffee Pot in Elmira, NY and Danny's Grocery Store on Sing Sing Road in Horseheads, NY and ran The Dairy Bar Restaurant in Mansfield, PA. She was a retired employee of I. Putnam Inc. in Big Flats, NY. Mrs. Jenkins was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose entire family loved to go to "Grandma's House" for her cooking and unconditional love. Mary loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her children: Daniel T. PADGETT Russell Lyle
Age 70, of Elmira, NY, died on December 19, 2012. Russell was born on September 11, 1942 in Blossburg, PA. He enjoyed listening to music, looking at books and magazines, and getting together with his family. For his birthday, he was able to do what he always wished for, which was to ride in a convertible. Russell is predeceased by his parents, Dean and Virginia (Ordway) Padgett, Baby Leonard Padgett, his brothers William Ordway, Lester Padgett Sr., and his sister, Joyce (Padgett) King. Russell is survived by his sisters, Jeanette (Padgett) Henry of Maine, Beverly (Padgett) Harrington of Elmira, NY; brothers, Arthur Padgett of Elmira, NY, and Roger Padgett of Watkins, NY; many nieces, nephews, and many, many loving friends. Age 96 of Pine City, NY, died on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Bethany Manor. She was born on September 23, 1915 the daughter of the late John and Lillian Page. Daisy and her husband Glen were married at the North Presbyterian Church in 1944. Glen predeceased her in June of 2002 after 57 years of a wonderful life together. She was co-founder with her husband Glen of Waight Supply Co. in Elmira, NY in 1952, which they started in their home. Daisy retired from the Traffic Department of Eclipse after 15 years to donate more time to their new business. As the business grew, they moved it to a building on Grant Street and later to 1344 College Avenue. After 20 years the business was sold to the Mead Corporation. They spent their winters in Florida, playing golf, and learned to square dance. Daisy was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Elmira Woman's Bowling Hall Of Fame. She was also selected as Elmira Female Athlete of the decade (1950-1960). Daisy is survived by her son, James H. Page; grandchildren, Penny, Jimmy and Teena, all of Elmira, NY, and Spring of Deltona, Florida; great grandson, Douglas (Hannah Bitler) Page; sisters, Lillian (Harold) Sechrist, and Kathleen Perkowski; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Daisy was also predeceased by her sister and brother in-law, Ruth and John Riley; brothers and sisters in-law, Raymond & Sophia Page, John & Thelma Page, Ken & Sharon Page, and Russell Page; brother in-law Stanley Perkowski; close cousins, Doris Scheerer and Bob Scheerer. JAMES H. "Maverick" PAGE, age 86, of Pine City,
NY passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2020 at the Bath VA
Medical Center. Jim was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary B.
Page; step-father, Glen Waight; mother, Daisy Waight; numerous brothers and
sisters; and John "Bear" Bills. He is survived by his children, Spring Page
of Deltona, FL, Penny, Jimmy and Teena all of Elmira, NY; grandson, Douglas
(Hannah) Page, Windgap, PA; sister, Lillian (Harold) Sechrist of Elmira, NY;
several nieces and nephews; lifelong family friends, Donald Gordy and Lisa
(G.A.) Covert of Interlaken, NY. Jim proudly served in the US Army. He
retired after 35 years of service from NY Telephone. He was an AVID
sportsman and spent his retirement on the Great Lakes and Cayuga Lake
fishing. Jim loved spending time at Kidders RV Park playing cards for over
26 years. Jim's latest hobbies were watching NASCAR at the Daytona Speedway
and Pig Hunting with Triple M Outfitters of Palm Bay, FL. He was a loving
husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all. Special
thanks to the staff of the Bath VA, CareFirst, Carlietta, Dee, and Jeanette

Age 91, formerly of Breesport Rd., Horseheads, NY, died
Saturday, September 20, 2008, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility in Elmira,
NY. John was born on May 12, 1917 in Kendall, NY, son of the late John L. and
Lillian (Jeffries) Page. John served our country in the United States Army
during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He retired from Waight Paper Supply
Corporation in Elmira after many years of service as Vice President of the
company; also he was a former plant manager for Pepsi Cola plant in Elmira for
many years. He was a longtime member of the Northside Community Church in
Elmira, presently known as Living Word Church and he was an avid NY Mets fan.
John was predeceased by his wife, Thelma Lovejoy after 65 years of marriage;
and his brothers, Russell, Raymond and Kenneth Page. Survivors include his son,
John H. (Bonnie) Page of Bath, NY; daughters, Joan (Jack) Burns and Donna
(John) Fletcher, both of Horseheads, NY; sisters, Daisy Waight of Pine City,
NY, Kathryn Perkowski of Elmira, Lillian (Harold) Sechrist of Pine City, NY,
and Ruth Riley of Elmira; grandchildren, Debra (Michael) Wood of Bath, NY,
Brian (Alyssa) Page of Gang Mills, NY, Kevin (Teri) Burns of Syracuse, NY,

John Manville Page, 70, of 527 Morley Place, Elmira, N. Y,, died Tuesday, Aug.
25, 1987, at the Arnot¬-Ogden Memorial Hospital. following an extended illness.
He was a member of the Pennsyl¬vania Avenue United Methodist Church, the Open
Heart Club, and a life member of Union Lodge #95 F and AM and Corning
Consistory. He was also an avid senior citizen bowler at Dixie Lanes at Elmira.
He was predeceased by a sister, Fern Pruyne. He was survived by his wife,
Bobette Newfield Page; daughter and son-In-law, Sandra and Leon Reed, of
Wellsboro; son and daugh¬ter-in-law, John (Jack) Manville and Barbara Page, of
Colonie, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Jim and Dave Haner and Susan and Jeffrey
Page; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, George W. Page, of Lakeworth,
Flor¬ida, and Ralph B. Page, of Clyde, N.C.; a sister, Hazel Cone, of Boynton

PAGE Ruth M. RILEY
A longtime resident of Elmira died Monday afternoon, April 12, 2010 at Elcor
Health Services following an illness at the age of 84. Born on May 1, 1925,
Ruth was the daughter of the late John and Lillian Jeffrey Page. She was a
loving wife to John Riley for nine years until his passing in January 30, 1974.
Ruth was a member of the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church for many
years. She was employed for many years with Remington Rand and Trayer Products
Inc. She was most proud of and enjoyed her employment at the Chemung County
Jail as a Matron for nearly 10 years. Her many interests included the NY Mets,
Bingo, playing cards and bowling. Though she never raised her own children, she
was a mother to many both within her career and her loving family. Surviving is
her loving family, sisters, Lillian (Harold) Sechrist, Pine City; Daisy Waight,
Pine City; Katherine Perkowski, Elmira; sister-in-law, Caroline Page, Elmira;
many beloved nieces, nephews, including a special nephew, James Page, Pine
City; great and great great nieces, nephews along with many cherished friends
and neighbors at Flannery Towers. In addition to parents and husband, Ruth was
also predeceased by her brothers, Russell (Kathy) Page, Raymond (Sophie) Page,
Kenneth Page and John (Thelma) Page. Family and friends will be received at
Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Thursday,
April 15, 2010 at 10 a.m. for funeral services with her pastor, the Reverend
William Vallet officiating. Graveside committal services will follow in Forest

Age 85, of Horseheads, NY, died after a brief illness on Thursday, January 12,
2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Eva was predeceased by her husband, Alfred;
daughter Frances (Dolly); and grandson, Steve. She is survived by daughters,
Freda (James) Owen of Horseheads, Eleanor Fife-Copp of FL, and Shirley (Jack)
Musto of FL; sons, Alfred (Vicki) Fife of FL, James (Michelle) Fife of NC and
Joseph (Nancy) Fife of Horseheads; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren;
five great-great-grandchildren; along with many friends, especially Jackie

Age 85, of Elmira, NY, died Wednesday, November 30th, 2005, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Bill was the son of the late William S. and Ida M. MacNeal Parfitt. He was born in Elmira, NY April 29th, 1920. Survived by his loving and devoted wife and friend of 64 years, Marjorie Tobias Parfitt; son, William (Ann) Parfitt of Camillus, NY; daughter, Patricia (David) Dubbs of Port Byron, NY; five grandchildren and one great-grandson whom he was very proud to have; sister, Anna Schnautz of Elmira. Predeceasing him are his daughter, Margaret Parfitt; and son, Robert Parfitt. age 85, died on November 30, 2005, and his wife, Marjorie J. Parfitt, died on May 13, 2006. Alice Jean Town of Southport Resident Was born September 25, 1932 in Leolyn,
PA, the daughter of the late Ronald and Marian (McNett) Park, went home to be
with her Lord on Tuesday, June 20, 2006, peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital
with her loving, caring and devoted family by her side. Jean married Ted on
June 30, 1951 in Waverly, NY at the United Methodist Church. They have enjoyed
55 wonderful years of life and love together. She is survived by her loving
husband, Ted; beloved grandson, Teddy; dearly loved children, Linda (Chris)
Lockwood Sr. of Elmira, NY, Ted Swan Jr. of Elmira, NY, Karen 'Kasey' (Willy)
Clark of Elmira, NY, Barb (Nick) Longo of Ithaca, NY, Tom (Sue) Swan of Elmira,
NY; sister, Barbara (Alfred) Segar; sisters-in-law, Donna Park and Phyllis
Park; brother-in-law, Charles (JoAnn) Hack; along with ten much-loved
grandchildren, six adored great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and her

operated the Food Pantry at the North Chemung United Methodist Church. Jean
enjoyed playing Bingo and loved her crossword puzzle books. She made it her job
to constantly care for those she loved and accomplished that by her love of
cooking for others. Above all, Jean was devoted to her family and church.

Marian G. (Parker), Age 67 of Corning, NY, died into the loving arms of the
Lord surrounded by her family on Thursday, July, 26, 2007, at home. Marian was
born Oct. 13, 1939 in Elmira, NY, the daughter to the late Raymond and Corenne
(German) Parker. Her surviving family includes her husband of 38 years, Wayne
Hungerford; sons, Randy (Mindi) Hungerford of Weirdsdale, FL, and Kevin
Hungerford of Corning, NY; brothers and sister, Raymond (Beverly) Parker of
Horseheads, NY, David Parker of Gillett, PA, Corenne (Eddie) Fagan of Elmira,
NY; beloved K-9 pal, Sammy; dear friends, Charlotte Hugg of Elmira and her
husband, the late William Hugg; and several nieces and nephews. Marian was also
predeceased by her brothers, Loring Parker in 1983 and Robert Parker in 2002.
Marian was retired from housekeeping at the Econo Lodge in Consumer Square in
Big Flats, NY. She enjoyed puzzles and traveling with her husband to various
gaming places around the state. Family and friends are invited to call at the

was predeceased by his wife, Lulu in 2000, daughter Linda Gunning in 2011
and son, Frank Parrott 2001. He is survived by his daughter and son, Sue
(Merle) Collins of Cayuta, NY, Ray (Joanne) Parrott of McAllen, TX; 17
grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews. He was also a US Army Veteran and lifetime
member of Horseheads Snowmobile Club. Judd was retired from US Steel/
American Bridge Works in Elmira Heights and also a retired Dairy Farmer in

PARSONS - SWINGLE, Isabelle M.
Age 91, of Ithaca, NY, died on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at the Beechtree
Care Center in Ithaca, NY. She was born on September 20, 1917 in Elmira, NY to
the late Alfred and Lillian (Warren) Parsons. Isabelle was predeceased by her
husband, William Swingle; daughter, Susan Jackson; and son, Richard Swingle.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy (Randy) Thayer of Alpine, NY and Mary
(Paul) Weber of Cortland, NY; brother, William (Sarah) Parsons of Colorado
Springs, CO; special granddaughter, Marnie DeYoung; 16 grandchildren, many
great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, along with several
nieces and nephews. Isabelle was a faithful wife, beloved mother and
grandmother and she loved music and bird watching. As a Christian, Isabelle
supported many mission programs. Family and friends are invited to call on
Saturday, December 6th, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow there at 4 p.m. with Rev. Steven DeWalt. Interment
will take place on Monday, December 8th, at 2 p.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial

PARSONS Walter E. Age 82, died on April 16, 2005 at "The Villas on La Canada," an assistive living center in Tucson, Arizona. He was born on February 27, 1923 in Elmira, New York, to Wilbur T. and Ruth McCarty Parsons. He graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1942, and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he proudly served his country during WWII in the Pacific theater. In 1943, before going overseas, he married Sidney L. Morton, his high school sweetheart and wife of 61 years. Upon his return home, they settled in the Elmira area, where Walt went to work as a shipping clerk for Hardinge Bros. Inc., where he remained until his retirement in 1976. He and Sidney then moved to Tucson, Arizona, where he lived for the remainder of his life. During his years of retirement, he enjoyed photography, pistol shooting, and model railroading for as long as his health would allow. Walt is survived by his wife, Sidney; his son, William and wife; and granddaughter, Jennifer L. Parsons, all of Tucson, AZ; his grandson, Nathaniel T. Parsons and wife; and great-grandsons, Christian and Benjamin Parsons, all of San Antonio, TX. Walter will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, during the month of May, at the convenience of the family.

PATCHEN SR. was born February 19, 1952 in Montour Falls, NY the son of
the late Arthur and Pauline (DePew) Patchen passed away peacefully at his
home, surrounded by his family on Friday, April 8, 2016 after he fought a
courageous battle with bladder cancer. He is survived by his loving and
devoted wife of 40 years, Janette (Rock) Patchen; beloved sons: Robert J.
(Mindy King) Patchen Jr.; Jason Patchen; adored grandchildren: Alyssa Marie
Patchen, Robert J. Patchen III, and Mallory Amber Patchen; Trevor King;
siblings: Jerry (Linda) Patchen, Shirley (Steve) Burlew, Chuck (Donna)
Patchen and Zandra Brewer; along with several nieces, nephews, many friends
and his special friends, Joe and Corky. Robert was proud of being an Eagle
Scout. He retired from Conrail after 20 years of dedicated service as a
signalman. He was a Veteran of the US Army proudly serving his country. For
several years he was Commander of the American Legion Bentley Post # 443
Elmira and from 2010-2011 was the Chemung County Commander of the American
Legion. Robert absolutely loved racing and raced for many years at the
Chemung Speedrome. He was also a diehard NASCAR fan. Bob enjoyed playing

PATTERSON Ina E. Slater
Age 95 of 507 Broadway, Elmira, NY. She died on July 15, 2013. Ina died at Arnot Ogden Medical Center after a brief illness related to heart and lung complications with her loving family at her side. Ina was born June 21, 1918 in Morris Run, PA to John and Anna Patterson. Shortly after high school graduation Ina moved to Elmira to seek employment. She met and married her late husband Leonard Slater and they celebrated 50 years of marriage before Leonard's passing in 1986. Ina was also predeceased by her parents, her sisters Dorothy Patterson, Elsa Woughter, Irene German and brother Ray (Pat) Patterson. Ina was a loving and caring person leaving behind what she treasured most; her loving family—beloved Son and daughter-in-law Gene and Cindy Slater, cherished grand-daughters Wendy Slater and Brenda (Josh) Moshier and treasured great grand-children Zackarie, Reilly, and Mikaelie Stedge and Max and Molly Moshier. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Margaret Patterson and Ethel Vasil and Ina's beloved extended family of nieces and nephews and their families. A host of caring and devoted friends whom Ina loved to visit with. Ina loved and enjoyed her home of 74 years at 507 Broadway creating many happy memories there. Some of her most fond memories include being a member of Bethany Lutheran Church for 70 plus years, long time Sunday school teacher, and various committees L.C. W. and church council. She retired after many years of service from the W.T. Grant department stores in Elmira and Southport. Mom was loved dearly and the happy times and wonderful memories she helped create will always be remembered. MELVIN R. PAYNE age 87, went home to be with the
Lord on Nov. 6, 2019 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center following declining
health. Born in Renovo, PA., on July 31, 1932 son of the late, Clifford &
Beatrice Knickerbocker Payne. Dedicated to his country, Melvin served in the
Marine Corps during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Marian
Wellman Payne on Dec. 3, 1955 and she predeceased him in 2012. A family man,
Melvin enjoyed spending time tinkering with home repairs and gardening. He
was an active member of the Maple Ave. Baptist Church where he loved to
worship his Lord and Savior. He retired from Arnot-Ogden Medical Center as
an electrical supervisor. Melvin is survived by his children, Nancy
(Douglas) Richardson, Karen (James) Petroski, Kathy (Lawrence) Flood,
Stephen (Joanne) Payne, and Glenn (Laurie) Payne; sixteen grandchildren,
Paul (Clairissa) Richardson, David (Melanie) Richardson, Nathan & Katrina
Petroski, Melissa (Nathan) Keller, Diane Petroski, Christen Richardson,
Karalynn Payne, Kenneth (Virginia) Petroski, Matthew Richardson, Jeremiah
