Joyce's Search Tip - January 2008
Do You Know that you can search just the 700 pages of Military Records on the site by using the Military button in the Partitioned search engine at the bottom of the Current What's New Page
This database of military veterans was compiled by Dick by Dick McCracken in his eleven years as Director of Veterans' Affairs in Bradford County. He has made it available to the Tri-Counties site for the use of the genealogical community. There are nearly 8500 individuals in the file. This is current as of November 1999.

Be sure to scroll to the right to see the cemetery and township in which the person is buried. Once you have determined that, you can link to the Bradford County Township in which that cemetery is located to see if we have the full cemetery listing on the site yet.

On this page all these Wolfes are spelled incorrectly: www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/military/vets171.htm
Daniel S., John N., Merle F., Richard L., Stanley H.  The only one I don't know about is Edward A. Wolff.
The five above are all spelled Wolfe not Wolff.  Eleanor LENT Wolfe

These are presented here as they are on the Veterans Administration database. We need to know the way they are presented there even if it is wrong, as it is. No change will be made. Any change must be made at the Veterans Administration in Towanda. JMT

Eleanor LENT "Wolfe" really wants me to change the records even now in October 2011. Below is the explanation of why I can not do so.

http://www.joycetice.com/military/vets171.htm
All this just to show how their names were correctly spelled. WOLFE
Will this be enough or do you need something else.
Hi Eleanor, I really really do know that the correct spelling is Wolfe. These records are a transcription of the veteran records. If they are misspelled there and I change them, then I no longer have a transcription of the veteran records. I can add a note saying they are misspelled, but I can NOT change the transcription of the actual records - right or wrong.

Thanks, Joyce

I called Mr. Osmun at the Veterans Adm. in Towanda.  He says in his database they are all spelled WOLFE.

I looked up Edward Wolff in the New Era Cemetery and his spelling seems to be correct.

Mr. Osmun has talked with Dick McCracken about other things being wrong and Dick said they had summer help

and that’s why things were wrong.
