Joyce-
Remember the gun in Millport Cemetery placed there by GAR Post 416
in 1904? The plaque on the muzzle side lists the officers of the post and
members in 1904. The second plaque on the other side appears to list additional
members. Last weekend I took some close-ups of the names and just transcribed
them. They give an insight to the Civil War Vets of the area, and I thought
they might be an informative tidbit that you would like to add to the site.
PS- Some of the abbreviations for the officers are evident, like
"P.C" = Post Commander. Some, such as "S.V.C." don't compute. (See Flagholders
Page for Sons of Union Veterans (Sons of Veterans of Civil War) and
other organizations)
