Hi Joyce, The Revolutionary War Veteran information on Obadiah Brown, listed as living in Bradford County, PA, is incomplete and therefore needs this update. He actually lived in NJ, NY and PA, since serving but according to DAR membership papers died in Southport, Chemung County, NY. In tracing the genealogy of Obadiah Brown, b.02Jun1756 Roxbury, Morris Co., NJ d. 23Feb1836 Southport, Chemung Co., NY, from information obtained from copies of his pension papers and also the DAR membership papers of a descendant, we find he lived in Knowltown, Sussex, NJ 14 years after serving as a Sargeant, Ensign & Lieut. in Rev. War. He then moved to Sheshequin, PA and lived 14 years, lived in Candor, NY 1 yr, Lansing, NY 3 yrs, Hector, NY 12 yrs, and then to Southport, NY where he died 9 years later. No mention so far of where he is buried. His brother, Walter, a Lt. in the Rev. War is buried in Pleasant Grove, Ithaca, NY. I have Obadiah's pension papers which include a court testimony of his service record with incidents, dates and places. Obadiah had 3 wives; wife1 Penelope Swazey m.1774 ; wife2 Joanna. My records show 7 children by wife 1( Daniel, James, Sarah, Rachel, George, Rebecca, and Obadiah Jr., and no children by wife 2. There is no record of his grave location.
Amanda Ferris married Obadiah Brown, Jr. 02 April, 1800 in Sheshequin, Bradford County, PA, and Emma was a child of this union. She married Renselaer Wolf.
