Richard "Floyd" MANNING, b. April 1888 NY, d. 5 Oct. 1933, Bath NY Veterans Hospital.

m. 1st:  Iva Mae HAYDEN,  1 child: Constance Barbara, b. 1911, NY.
m. 2nd: Helen Forte CHAPIN: 4 children: Rachel Bernice, b. 1921, Robert Lee, b. 1923, Shirley Mae, b. 1925, Harry Richard, b. 1928.

Parents:  Lee and Emma (Skinner) MANNING, resided at: 204 W. 17th St., Elmira Heights, NY

Floyd was drafted April 1, 1918 at Watkins Glen, NY into US Army, 153rd Brigade, 6th Bn., 21st Co., from April 1, 1918 to Dec. 23, 1918, seeing duty in France during WWI in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, Second Phase, 1 Oct. to 1 Nov. 1918.

Floyd was gravely injured in the battlefield,  losing  the lower third of left leg in the line of duty.     He was gassed with mustard gas as well. Shrapnel injury happened near Canting, France according to V.A. records.  Discharged from Walter Reed Hospital, D.C. due to injuries, at the rank of private.  Company and regiment last served in: Co. A, 18th Inf.  Service Number: 1-750-239.

Floyd MANNING was my Grandfather.
