Edward Warren Eldrett Sr. ( 10 Apr 1895 - 13 Dec 1973) was
superintendent of the Nestle Company in Horseheads in June of 1920 when
his engagement was announced to Sarah May Ackley ( 05 Dec 1894 - 30 Apr
1987) of 147 College Ave. in Elmira Heights. He had served with the
78th Division in WWI.
Reported missing in action, he had been a victim of mustard gas
and was blinded for a period of 10 days. He received the Military
Order of the Purple Heart and is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads,
NY. along with his wife.
The attached photo shows Edward Warren Eldrett Sr., with his brothers,
Walter Eldrett and Harold Eldrett in their military uniforms.
The text of the telegram reads:

Edward Sr. was my grandfather, his son Edward Jr. my father.
His other son, my Uncle "Gyp", H. Carleton Eldrett was the long time president
of Twin Tier Tires in Elmira prior to his death in May 2003.
