MARA TRACY BECOMES BRIDE
Weds Gerald Sergeant; Will Make Home at Wetona
East Smithfield, March 29—the marriage of Miss Mara Tracy, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tracy of Wetona, to Gerald Sargeant, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sargeant of Wetona, was solemnized at the East Smithfield Methodist parsonage by the Rev. Owen Barrett on Thursday night, March 28. The bride was charming in a dress of light blue silk crepe. Her corsage was of white lilies. Her attendant was her sister, Josephine, who was attired in navy blue with a corsage of pink sweet peas. The best man was Raymond Ogden, close friend of the bridegroom. Immediately following the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Sargeant left on a short wedding trip. Both are popular young people in the community and have the best wishes of scores. Mrs. Sargeant graduated from East Smithfield High School in 1935 and from Troy High in 1936. Mr. Sargeant graduated from East Smithfield High in 1932. From 1936 through 1939 he served in the Army, being stationed at Monmouth, N.J. They will make their home on the Dwight Sargeant farm, Wetona. (handwritten on article 1940)

This Thursday, March 25th, Mr. and Mrs. Charles French, East Smithfield, celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary. They began housekeeping in Athens immediately after their marriage, later moving to Elmira where Mr. French held a position. In 1895 they returned to East Smithfield, where they were both born and where they still reside. They have two sons, Harold, Troy and George B., Athens. Also two grandchildren, Pauline and Francis French, Troy. Many friends and relatives extend hearty congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. French, who, with one exception, is believed to be the only couple in Smithfield Township who has the distinction of having enjoyed such a long period of married life together.
