The Temperance movement was prominent in U.S. politics for several
decades before finally resulting in our Prohibition on the sale of alcoholic
beverages in this country. This 1875 ad shows us how widespread it was
when an entire hotel was run on its principals.
I have bound copies of this year's Agitator, too large and bulky to
get to my scanner. I achieved this less than perfect image with my digital
camera focussed at far closer distance than it is designed to handle.
