![]() Chester P. Bailey Chester P. Bailey was born in Mansfield 29 April 1912, just days after the Titanic sank in the North Sea. The contributions of Chester and his wife Mary Godbey are extensive. As editors of the Mansfield Advertiser newspaper, first in partnership with Edwin Coles in 1948 and until 1972, they kept their finger on Mansfield's pulse. As a lifelong historian of Mansfield, Chester had accumulated an extensive collection of photos and artifacts which are now housed at The History Center. Since his death in January of 2015, all the remaining parts of his collection that he had not already sent to us, were donated by his children Barbara and Paul. A hundred and three years seems like a long time, but it was too short a time to share with a fine gentleman like Chester. |
