Joyce,
I came across your site not too long ago and I love it! Thank
you so much for all that you do. I wanted to submit a couple photos
of my ancestors that I have. These are not the originals, so what
I have is the highest resolution possible.
The first is a picture of Henry H. Potter along with six of his siblings.
Henry, my grandmother's grandmothers' grandfather, was the first postmaster
at Middlebury Center, and served there almost 30 years.
Rear: Elizabeth Potter, Harvey Potter, Theodate Potter; Front: Hiram Potter, Henry H. Potter, Peleg Potter (not sure which is Henry & which is Peleg), Dr. Stephen M. Potter. The original is at the Cazenovia NY town hall. Elizabeth died in 1870, so this picture was taken before that. |
The second picture is of Francis Edward McLean and (extended) family. Ed was the second son of Alexander A McLean (a blacksmith in Middlebury and Hammond) and Mary Jane Potter, daughter of Henry H. Potter. My great grandmother, Carrie Marquess, is to Ed's right and her twin sister, Cora, is to his left. Ed took Carrie in when his sister Sarah Ellen (McLean) Marquess died less than 6 months after the twins were born in 1866. A side note - Carrie's youngest child, my grandmother, celebrated her 100th birthday last September. Hope I inherited those genes! |
Thank you again, Joyce, for creating such a vibrant window into history and the lives of our ancestors.
