Addison July 27-D.C. Colvin died at home near Borden, July 23 from
injuries sustained on July 19 while standing in the barn watching his sons
unload hay. A large stick of timber fell from the beam above him, striking
him on the top of his head, knocking him over the brestgirt into the mow.
He was unconscious for a little time. He suffered a great deal of pain
the few days that he lived.
All was done for his relief that medical aid and good nursing could
do. He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, three sons and one daughter. Besides
a number of grandchildren. He also leaves one sister. Mr. Colvin was born
in Spring Mills Oct 26, 1835 and was 71 years of age.

FOLLOWING INJURY
BORDEN, Dec. 5 - The funeral of Fred Colvin, who died following injuries
received when a tree fell on him, was held from the home here this afternoon
at 2 o'clock. Interment was made in Borden.
Mr. Colvin was found in serious condition in the woods near his home,
by his brother, Delbert, who had been searching for him, after he had not
appeared for dinner. A stub on the tree had punctured his leg and he was
nearly unconscious from the loss of blood. It is believed he had lain there
between one and two hours before found.
Mr. Colvin's death is deeply mourned by the residents of this community
as he was one of its highly respected citizens.
He never married.

Barton L. Bennett died Monday at 9 o’clock p.m. at the family home, 460 Franklin street, aged 65 years. He was a resident of Elmira forty-three years and was an employee of the Northern Central Railroad Company car shops in this city many years. The decedent was a veteran of the Civil War and served in the 109th New York Volunteers. He is survived by his widow, a son, Harvey N. Of Veteran, and a daughter, Mrs. Nettie L. Fassett of Elmira; two brothers, A. F. Bennett of Elmira, and George W. Bennett of Waverly; two sisters, Mrs. Vine Houghtaling and Mrs. Charles Southwell. The funeral will be held at the home Thursday, the hour to be announced later.Barton married Sarah S. .
