Joyce,
I typed part of the civil war file. John L. Horton and Julia Ette Clark were married 12 March 1861 at his fathers' home in Sullivan township. Susannah (Susanna, Susan, Susie) was born on 15 August 1861. On two pages 1861 appeared as 1860. However, most of the paper work has 1861.

I hope the above information is helpful. Some of the information is difficult for me to read. If I knew more, it might be easier.

County of Bradford

On this 8th day of July 1865 before me an Associate Judge on and for said county personally came Isaac Squire and made oath in due firms of law that he united John L. Horton and Juliette Clark in the Bond of Matrimony in accordance with the laws of the State of Pennsylvania at Sullivan Tioga Co. PA on the 12th day of March, 1861; that he made no public record of the same; that he was at that time an acting Justice of the Peace in and for said county of Tioga; and that he is not interested in any claim or application of said Mrs. Juliette Horton for a pension as widow of said John L. Horton. Issac Squire

I, E.O. Goodrich, Prothonotary of the Court of Common Pleas of the County and State aforesaid, do hereby certify, that Ron V. M Long Esq., before whom the foregoing affidavit was made, was at the time of so doing, an acting associate Judge in and for said County, duly commissioned and sworn; that his signature thereto is genuine; and that I have no interest in this claim or application. In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand, and affixed seal of the said Court, at Towanda this 24th day of July A.D. 1865. E Goodrich Prothonotary.

Tioga County SS Personally appeared before me the Subscriber one of the Justice of the Peace in and for the said county William H. Rumsey late of company H 1st battalion 14th Regt US Infantry who being duly sworn according to law Deforeth and saithe that he was personally acquainted with John L. Horton of Company C 1st Battalion 14th Regt US Infantry of Sullivan Township Tioga County and state of Pennsylvania who was killed in the service of the US at the Battle of the Wilderness on May the 8th A.D. 1865 and that he saw him after he was killed and that he belonged to company C instead of company H in the said Battalion and Regt. W. H. Rumsey

I hereby certify that I am personally acquainted with the said William H. Rumsey and that he is a man of truth and ministry. E. A. Fish JP

Personally appeared before the subscriber on of the Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the County and state aforesaid Alfred H. Wheeler and Adaline M. Wheeler ? ? of the township of Troy in said county who after being duly sworn doth defrose and say that they were foresent and saw John L. Horton and Julia Ette Clark married that they were married at his fathers house in Sullivan township tioga co. PA on or about the 12th day March A.D. 1861 by Isaac Squires who was at the time an acting Justice of the Peace, that they resided near his father at the time and have been acquainted with her the said Julia Ette over ten years and that they ? acquainted with her said husband John L. Horton over four years previous to his going into the Army and know they lived together as husband and wife from the time they were married as aforesaid up to the time he went into the Army. And they further testify that they ? as ? stated and have no interest whatever in the claim of said Julia Ette Horton for a pension. Alfred H. Wheeler Adaline M. Wheeler

At the end of the claim for widow’s army pension there is a statement that a copy of the family ? ? to attached ? by his father in his family bible.

I had sent a request to check if there was a copy of the bible page. I have a page listing actions taken to request pension, but I am not seeing a name, etc of the parents or what I thought would be a bible page. However, there must be a Horton family bible some place.
